Living … One day at a time.

Wow, today is Saturday the 21st day of December, 2019.

The second last Saturday of the month and the year.

WOW, hard to believe that 2019 is almost over.

We are ready for Christmas.

I wrapped the gifts for the pups and Humphrey last night.

Alvin was still sniffing around but at least he did not attempt to open any of the presents.

I was going to put my present from my friend “V” under the tree again but thought against it.

Better to be safe than sorry.

After a long time as somewhere along the way Mr. Alvin must have ate something not for him.

He was up and down ALL night long.

Finally he brought up some semi digested food.

Sorry for the grossness for the morning hours.

Anyway, he seems to be okay now.

We have our regular VET appointment this morning.

I have to have him checked for “ear mites” as baby Kobi has them.

He has his regular nail trim and stuff.

Following the visit, I will be giving Mr. Alvin his haircut which is long overdue.

I finally have the “blade head” replaced for his electric clipper.

Fun awaits.

Later this afternoon Teddy and his little sister arrive for a sleepover.

Last night I was able to get some laundry done and finished the last of the wrapping.

Well there are no words of wisdom or funny stories to share as I am a tad bit tired.

Going to cut this short to go and have some coffee and breakfast.

I hope that you have an awesome Saturday.

If all else fails take a nap.

Always with kindness and respect.

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. so excited that I am off work now until January 2, 2020.

So lucky am I.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 31st day of March, 2019.

Today is the birthday of a long-time girl friend, Happy Birthday PB.

Alvin and I wish you a great day and year to come.

The sky is overcast this morning.

Sunday and the final day of March, 2019.

Where has or does the time go?

No one seems to know.

We only know that as we get older time seems to pass with lightning speed.

I just heard geese honking.

There must be some geese flying about in the sky somewhere close by.

Yesterday Master Teddy spent the day with us.

I thought that perhaps I would share some photos of the boys together

Also I moved up Alvin’s haircut and bath to yesterday.

Which was a good move on my part.

Teddy and Alvin and I went for a nice walk just over thirty minutes.

The boys had fun.

This photo was taken Friday night when Alvin had his paws curled around his favourite toy “duck.”

You can tell from this photo that Mr. Alvin needed a hair cut.

I do give him a hair cut on a regular basis but it grows so fast.

He needed the bath – even though I washed him down after our walks, his fur just looked grey.

Supper-time.

Each had their own bowl and they each ate at the same time.

Now Alvin did come and check out Teddy’s bowl when he was finished.

So cute.

Hungry boys

Alvin after his hair cut and bath in the above photo.

Look how white and he feels about 3 pounds lighter.

Also to mention his front paws are his “tender spot” and after likely about an hour on them, this was the best that I could do.

Oh well.

I will try and snip here and there with the scissors.

Out on the deck.

What a beautiful day.

Most of the snow has melted.

YAY …..

Well I guess time to get this show on the road.

Humphrey the Cat will be joining us around noon.

So I have some things to do before he arrives.

Perhaps go for a walk before then as well.

Wash floors and prepare for work week.

Happy Sunday.

Last day of March – cannot believe it.

I hope that you all have a great day.

Special Hello to:  all the women in my life …… you all rock.

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S.  I watched SECOND ACT last night (rented from Telus) with Jennifer Lopez.  I quite enjoyed the movie.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 29th day of July, 2018.

Happy Birthday to one of my great nephews who turns “7” today.

I will be seeing him in two sleeps along with his Grandma (my sister), his Mom and brothers.

Lots to do before they arrive.

We were up early for a Sunday.

Up at 5:00 and Alvin ate and did his business.

To the sofa until 6:30 and then we went for a walk.

The forecast is for over 30 degrees celsius today.

Makes it HOT doing housework and for walks.

After I finish this post I will settle in and clean the bathrooms and floors upstairs.

Followed by same downstairs on the main floor.

Always better to do jobs like cleaning when it is somewhat cool.

I opened all of the windows at 5:00 a.m. so was able to reduce the interior temperature from 79 to 73.

Will close the windows shortly and keep all of the blinds closed this will keep the house cool for most of the day.

The front lawn has to be mowed this morning before it gets hot but have to wait as it is wet.

Placing Steeped Tea and NORWEX orders today.

Seems like there is a lot on my TO DO LIST.

How did that happen?

I cannot believe that August is only a few days away.

WOW.

We certainly enjoyed our early morning walk.

The birds were singing their songs and a few dogs were barking in the distance.

The grass wet with dew.

The fountain was running at our pond/lakes.

So nice to hear the water running in the background.

No one was out and about – just me and Alvin.

Well I guess there is no time like the present.

Get busy and get those chores done before it gets hot.

Always a good thing to do your chores early.

Then there will time to relax when it is hot.

Perhaps watch a movie this afternoon in front of the fan.

Yesterday I gave Mr. Alvin a hair cut and bath.

He seems to fuss more and more.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Enjoy the day.

Back to work tomorrow.

Special Hello to: my daughter who is the sunshine of my life.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 21st day of May, 2018.

Today we celebrate “Queen Victoria Day” with a statutory holiday.

A day at home with our loved ones.

How perfect is that.

Another simply gorgeous day has already begun.

The sun has been up for a few hours now and the sky is sprinkled with with a few clouds.

There is a BREEZE, a cool one at this time.

I have opened all of the windows to keep the house cool.

Later this morning I will close them unless the breeze stays cool.

Sure has helped to keep the house comfortable for me and Alvin.

Well three days of my extra long weekend have already passed.

Certainly I did get a few things on my to do list completed but still a few left to do.

I figure while it is cool, time to get the floors washed with my steam mop.

It has take a couple of days for me to recover from staying up all night.

I guess that is something to do while you are a young one and not when you are over 60.

Although it was great at the time.

Sometimes one just feels lazy and just wants to putz about.

Yesterday a good portion of my day was giving Mr. Alvin a hair cut and bath.

Followed by a shower for me after being covered in his hair.

I baked some chocolate chip cookies and we went for a walk.

Oh, there were dishes washed and put away.

Some small chores.

I patched a pair of PJs that I love, and wish to keep.

Oh, I watched “BLACK PANTHER” last night.

It was one of the best movies that I have seen as of late.

The house is quiet as is the neighbourhood.

It is about mid morning now.

Soon the children will be up and outside.

People will be out walking their pups.

Me, after a quick breakfast and sharing coffee with my neighbour it will be on to getting those floors all washed.

I also feel the need to tidy up the garage.

I have stacked a few empty boxes in there and they must be broken down to put into the garbage.

Tomorrow is garbage day.

This morning before it gets hot I will get that housework done.

Sometimes it is just a matter of being in the mood and then I can zip through that list in no time flat.

I kind of feel like housework now.

So better get to it.

Mr. Alvin had some drops from his Doctor for his ears as they are a bit inflamed but not infection.

OMG, you would think I was doing something dreadful to him.

He clearly is becoming more difficult when it comes to his ears.

Not good for the Momma.

I could barely hold him still.

ARGH, my boy.

Well folks time to spring into action.

Actually there appear to be some clouds blocking the sun and this is a good time to get things done.

Then one can relax in the afternoon when it is warm or something like that.

I had some interesting dreams that at the time seemed like a good idea for a book and now they have evaporated from memory.

Have an awesome day.

Enjoy the time.

Each day is special.

Every moment.

Each one only comes once.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. we have to chat.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 22nd day of April, 2018.

The sun is shining but there are some clouds scattered throughout the sky.

There is a strong wind blowing.

Woke up with a headache this morning.

Had been invited to one of my friend’s homes for morning coffee and visit but decided to cancel this time.

Alvin needs a hair cut and bath.

That needs to be done.

No excuses there.

We have had a good weekend.

Laundry and some cleaning was accomplished.

We enjoyed our walks.

So nice to have most of the sidewalks dry now.

Finally.

Was happy that yesterday was not an all day rain fest.

In fact it did not start raining until well into the afternoon.

Alvin and I beat the rain and had a lovely walk.

We saw one of our neighbours who lives on the opposite side of the street.

He was raking his lawn.

We still have snow and ice on ours.

Funny how that is.

Well time to get going.

I can hear a big dog barking to the south of us.

Oh, how I wish that people would not leave their dogs outside for long periods of time.

Have an awesome Sunday.

Special Hello to: my friends and family.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 2nd day of July, 2017.

Bright sunny morning.

Appears that all Canada Day Celebrations went well.

I am grateful that my daughter is coming to visit us today.

Yesterday was hot and humid.

We did have a storm earlier but the evening turned out to be sunny.

Summer weather, right.

I managed to give Mr. Alvin a hair cut and bath.

Did some house work, laundry and mowed some grass.

Watched some of the Canada 150 Celebrations.

Well I have to get this show once again on the road.

Yesterday I did not get the rhubarb crisp baked as it was hot and I did not get to it early enough.

Even baking with air conditioning …..

So want to get it done this morning (promised my daughter).

Not only that …. the rhubarb will soften and better when it is firm.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. not long now until you visit.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 3rd day of December, 2016.

The sky is partially clear as the evening cover dissipates with the morning sun.

Looks like we may have sunshine this morning.

Most of the past couple of weeks have seen our skies blanketed in cloud cover with fog filling the air.

It makes me happy, and I am most certain the other million or so people living in the Edmonton area are happy as well.

We have a busy few weekends ahead of us with Christmas just around the corner.

This weekend I am preparing for the Christmas Event being held at my house next Saturday.

Now while Alvin will not be a part of the Event as he will be at his sister’s house with Milo and his brother-in-law; I felt the need to give him a trim and bath.

So that he is all ready for Christmas.

His fur grows so fast ….. and well a bath cannot hurt.

We managed to do some laundry last evening (we, meaning me), write up some Christmas cards and letters and go for a walk and I rearranged the basement.

Some of the ladies coming next Saturday are bringing their children so will be a good place for the kids to go.

I have a family room with a television in the basement.

Still more cards to do and will just keep writing them whenever there is a spare moment so that they are mailed within the next few days.

After this we, me will have breakfast because that Alvin had his Momma awake at 3:00 a.m. but I explained to him “that it was not time to get up.”

Then again at 3:30 a.m. but I caved and we got up and I let him go outside ( he did have to pee ), so all good and then to the sofa for sleep until breakfast for him.

Up at 4:35 a.m. and he ate and then up again at I don’t remember as it all seems like a blur …. finally up to stay up just after 8:00 a.m.

Anyway off to a brilliant start.

After breakfast we are going for a walk as this will be our only opportunity for the day and plus he will likely go the full distance of our regular walk.

As of late it has been dark after work and he only wants to go about 1/2 or perhaps a little less ….

Can you tell that I am not quite awake yet?  Perhaps I should make coffee before the walk, no better not.

After the walk …. Alvin’s hair trim and bath.

More laundry.

Coffee in there.

Christmas Cards.

Cleaning the bathroom.

Vacuum.

Yikes, do I really have all that to do.

Also have to confirm attendance and invite more folks to the Christmas Event next Saturday.

Oh, and Milo is coming for a visit about mid afternoon as his Momma and Daddy are going to a Christmas party.

Well time to fly here.

Oh, big thing that I have to do is write everything down……. get every detail on my TO DO LIST as without it I may miss something.

The next days are so filled with things to do.

I hope that you are having a great Saturday wherever you are living on this great planet called Earth.

I hope that the sun is shining for you or if it is night time that the sky is clear and the stars are twinkling for you.

I hope that good times are here for you.

I hope that you share those good times with others.

I hope only the best for you.

Have a wonderful Saturday.

Special Hello to:  YOU, truly you rock.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 30th day of November, 2015.

It is a beautiful morning here in Edmonton.

Calm … warm …… perfect.

Alvin and I had a great day yesterday even though part of it included his hair cut and bath.

He does not like getting his hair cut very much and barely tolerates having a bath.

So I am so happy it is all over.

I managed to get his paws trimmed quite well all by myself.

Later on after his hair was dry we donned our winter coats and went for a walk.

It was beautiful out ….

We are so blessed to have this nice weather.

Make it nice when walking and waiting for the bus, for sure.

Last night I wrote out a few Christmas cards to mail.

Will finish them up over the next couple of days.

Next weekend I will be baking.

The only thing left to do is to wrap presents and I will do that the following week or maybe even this weekend.

I love to see things wrapped under the tree.

It will be nice to ready and then I can just relax and enjoy.

My girlfriends and I are having our Christmas get together on the 19th of December and I am so excited.

Well I guess I had better get going …. finish my breakfast which I brought up to the office again.

Somehow I just cannot get past sitting at the table anymore after our recent visitor(s).

I know that they are gone but …..

So wishing you a great Monday.

I hope that you are able to do all that you wish to today ….

Be creative …..

Happy Monday.

Special Hello: my friends near and far

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Welcome to Tuesday, November 13th, 2012 ….

It is a beautiful morning here in Edmonton …. the air feels much warmer and throughout the next few days we are to reach plus temperatures.  YAY.

The sun has shone for the past couple of days which has been great.

Sunshine sure helps with the energy level …… we have to remember to take Vitamin D at this time of year ….. they were advising that on television.

Well I hope that everyone had a lovely weekend.

As always there was lots to do ranging from housework to Bath & Body Work’s Forever Red Launch on Friday night to several coffee breaks along with the way with my daughter and two friends.

I always enjoy getting together with the girls and enjoying a great cup of coffee and a visit.  The girls energize me and keep me young.

Alvin even managed to get a hair cut and bath ….. something for the boy and finally a walk yesterday.  Between the snow and the snow ….. we missed a few walks.  The longest time period that we have gone without a walk.

I must say that he looks rather handsome and that I am getting the hang of it with regard to his haircut.  Not really the easiest thing to do.

He does well …… but hair …… OMG, I vacuumed and swept and still was finding hair the next day …….

Well it is time to get going here.

I hope that you all have a wonderful Tuesday.

Keep dreaming …… I am and do.

Special Hello to: all those folks that are away from home … keep them safe, healthy and bring them home soon.

Always, Carol and Alvin
