Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 26th day of October, 2017.

Last night the wind HOWLED and BLEW and HOWLED and BLEW.

We decided, well I decided not to walk as I feared we might blow away or worse be hit with flying garbage of some sort.

Better to stay at home and be safe.

We enjoyed our time together …. me and Alvin ….. snuggling on the sofa.

Relaxing.

I am so grateful to have this blog – an on-line diary if you will.

Always nice to look at and see what was going on …..

This DATE last year:

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 26th day of October, 2016.

Another one of many dark mornings to come.

Appears to have been raining overnight.

Still mild so sidewalks and streets should be ice free.

Please be careful …..

Wow only a handful of days left until Halloween and then my time.

My time to put up the tree.

My time to decorate the house inside and out.

My time to send Christmas cards, letters and current photo of me and Alvin.

My time to BAKE.

Our time to appreciate all that we have.

I am so grateful that I can make my own choices when it comes to the above.

I am so grateful for all those who watch over and look after us all.

I am so grateful for my family and friends.

It was a late night and early morning.

I honestly slept in a bit so have to cut this short.

So much running through my head.

One thing:  can I really leave the house with my hair like this?

Yes, I can because I have no time.

It is clean but a little wild.

Will blame it on “being older.”

It could work.

Maybe.

Good for a giggle.

Honestly it is not that bad.

Really.

Am I trying to convince myself?

Yes.

Time to go.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Live in the moment and be mindful.

Special Hello to: my friends and family.

Always, Carol and Alvin

P.S. this year – my hair is good.  Had a shower so freshly washed.  Laughing Aloud……

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 25th day of August, 2017.

Today is / was my Mom’s Birthday and she would have been 79.

Happy Birthday Mom and I hope that you are laughing with all of our Angels.

Okay so thought at this very minute is BANGS.

I envy those ladies who have the patience and have all their hair the same length.

I have always had bangs as you can see from my front page.

I do love bangs but when mine have a mind all their own.

The rest of my hair looks great but my bangs this morning were doing a little jig on their own.

One hair up and another one down all along the way.

So after trying a few things – decided to just wet my bangs and blow them dry.

It worked but took precious time.

Now it is time to go …..

I hope that you are having an excellent hair day.

Funny how a few little pieces of hair can disrupt your morning.

I am happy now that they look more normal.

They did have a little dance to start the day and who can argue with that.

Happy Friday.

Special Hello: to all those people who got up this morning and looked at their hair and said “dancing again” ……..

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 19th day of October, 2016.

Dark dark now and just wait this weekend we turn our clocks back one hour.

Instead of it being 6:12 as it is now it will be 5:12 a.m.

Alvin has had a head start on that change.

This morning we were up at 4:30 a.m.

Oh my boy ……

Guess what!

I have news.

Yesterday I went to Costco with my daughter.

Guess what one of my purchases was?

You will never guess.

LIGHT BULBS.

It would seem that I had some burned out in every room.

Now when I turn on the lights there is no place for those dust bunnies to hide.

I could not believe the difference.

I can see my kitchen once again.

Almost every room was in dim mode.

As my daughter said “good lighting for beauty.”

Which is true.

Both of the light bulbs in my downstairs bathroom burned out at the same time which I thought was strange.

How does that happen?

Anyway whenever I was in there had to leave the door open as there are no windows.

So looking in the mirror gave me a nice glow …..

The upstairs main bathroom looks like you are on a stage and ready to belt out a tune.

Honestly I felt like I should have sunglasses on.

My bathroom now I can truly see to put makeup on and do my hair ….. before it was touch and go.

Always checked things out when I got to work.

Slightly kidding here.

Makes for a better story.

I bought two boxes and replaced 11/12.

The combined total in both boxes was 12.

Yikes.

Note to self: ask to go to Costco more often.

Well almost time to hit the pavement.

My friend “V” sent me a message last night to tell me there is another package on the way to me.

OMG, what a girl.

The theme is “orange” so wonder what might be in that box?

I cannot wait.

Definitely something good to look forward to tonight.

It is a great Wednesday.

Lights on and someone is definitely at home.

Have a great Wednesday.

Remember to have a sense of humour.

My friend and co-worker and tea drinker “K” is taking me to StarBucks (her treat) for a pumpkin coffee.

Cannot wait for coffee break.

Well time to fly.

Have an awesome day.

Special Hello to: all those friends out there making your friends feel so loved.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 21st day of February, 2016.

Today was my Grandma Stella’s Birthday.

She passed away at 97 years of age back in 1998.

I love this time of day because other than the warm air being pushed by the furnace fan, and the clicking of the keys as I make these words, they are the only sounds I hear.

I am pleased to announce that Mr. Alvin made a full recovery.

Guess he just had an upset tummy.

We enjoyed a walk yesterday after laundry was done and just before his supper.

It was a bit cooler with the odd snowflake falling out of the sky.

I also planned a birthday supper for one of my friends as she turns 70 on the 23rd which also happens to be my sister’s birthday.

The birthday supper that I am hosting will be Saturday, February 27th, 2016.

I decided on carrot for the birthday cake with a slight twist no cream cheese icing but my special icing instead.

It will be homemade vegetarian spaghetti sauce with pasta and PARM cheese, peas for the veggie and oregano infused biscuits.

Should be good.

The sky is slightly cloudy with those morning clouds but I can see the sun coming up.

Oh, I am so excited for spring.

Supposed to be on the plus side today for temperatures and low plus side for the next few days.

Well I suppose I should get this show on the road ….. I need to rinse my hair it feels yucky ……

Today will be a mix of things.

I think today is bath day for the boy ….. he needs his ears cleaned and some TLC.

So as soon as I gather up the laundry drying in the basement and empty the dishwasher and have some breakfast and coffee ….. BATH TIME, BUDDY.

Not one of his favourite things but doing earlier might be better.

Well I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Happy Sunday to you.

Special Hello to: all those February born babies …. I seem to know so many.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 13th day of June, 2015.

It is a glorious morning here at my house in Edmonton.

There is a breeze, the sky is almost overcast with the sun peeking through in spots.

Yesterday I took half of a day vacation from the office and came home for the afternoon.

I made a few stops before arriving at the house.

Stopped at Shoppers and then at Save-on.

The one out of the ordinary item that I bought was one of those bags that is on wheels.

My daughter told me that I should get one and it would be easier to carry groceries home.

I really didn’t want to because it kind of made me feel “old.”

Now I know that shouldn’t be as I see all ages pulling those “carts” around filled with things.

It wasn’t the easiest thing to load.

Trying to hold the full grocery bag and load it into the bag …. took a few tries.

I have the recycled bags so perhaps the plastic might have been easier but oh well.

I am trying to do my part for the environment.

After loaded I did find it easy to pull home….. so much easier on my shoulders and arms and hands.

The main reason I took the afternoon off was to paint the front porch.

I will admit that I have kind of procrastinated on doing it but it is done.

There are pictures to prove my hard work.

There was a bit of a wind …. actually it was quite windy …. not gale force.

But from the looks of my hair, clothing and the landing you might think it was a strong strong wind.

Now all white and pristine.

Looks pretty good for a non-professional and it was fun.

There was only one thing … Mr. Alvin.

I put the baby gate up at the door so that he could at least see me.

Didn’t work so much as he just sat there and “cried.”

I did not wish to take it down as I knew he would be running to one of the neighbours or the other.

So I just tried to be reassuring ….. “Your Momma is here.”

Or perhaps he didn’t think I was doing a great job.

Or perhaps he thought I may fall off of the ladder.

Anyway it is done.

In the fall it will be door frame and window frames.

YAY ….

I am so proud of myself….

Now it is your turn …. try something outside your regular comfort zone.

Well time to finish my coffee and get dressed as Mr. Alvin has an appointment for his regular pedicure.

His favourite thing to do …. NOT …..

I have a long to do list and I am going to accomplish every item and be all done by six o’clock tonight.

YAY …..

Have to have the house in ship shape for my Steeped Tea par-TEA next Saturday.

Besides always good to get the rest of my spring “cleaning” done.

Blinds ….. cupboards ….. you know.

Have a awesome Saturday.

Special Hello to: all you folks who are stretching and doing things outside of your regular routine.  Congratulations

Always, Carol and Alvin
