Second Half of the NEW YEAR – final quarter

Good Morning, so glad that we did not blow away last night or even this morning. The wind blew down some of my Halloween decorations that I had put up yesterday afternoon. Blew over my garbage can and bye-bye couple of items that were in it. Basically it was other folk’s garbage that had blown onto my lawn. Just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz ….. gone, gone, gone. The air is cool but not cold this morning. My two pots of petunias are still amazingly blooming. I am so glad that I put away all of my little knick knacks from the deck yesterday afternoon as they may have taken flight overnight. The sky is blue as the sun is in the early stages of coming up there remains some of the orange colour on the horizon.

Well I accomplished all and then some of the items on my TO DO LIST from yesterday which makes today and tomorrow easier days. Although I can always find things that I want or need to do around the house. With Christmas just around the corner, I need to get working on my craft projects. Started and have ideas but need to put some actual labour into. I have noticed that I do sometimes procrastinate when I do not have a clear vision of the end result and then again sometimes I am not feeling “artistic” and that pushes the timeline. Oh well there is time so no need to panic just yet. Besides Christmas is not about the gifts as we all well know. It is about being together. All of our “holidays” are about being together with family and friends and celebrating those relationships or at least that is my thought.

So Thanksgiving weekend – some folks celebrated yesterday, some today and others tomorrow. This one is different for most folks. I know some of my friends had family over yesterday. Others today with part of the family and the other members of their family got together with them actually last weekend. Tomorrow is the actual day of Thanksgiving. At the end of it all, we should celebrate each other yesterday, today and tomorrow, everyday. Family and friends are so vital to our well being. Relationships need to be worked on in order to thrive. We are a social creature and need the love and support of others in order to survive. Okay how did I get to this point. Oh, well …. Sunday Morning brain. I hope that whenever or with whomever you have the opportunity to celebrate this Thanksgiving with, I hope that it is awesome. Enjoy the food but most of all enjoy the fact that you have family and friends with you. Now there may be folks that due to circumstances are not able to be surrounded by any family or friends and my heart and best wishes go out to you. I hope that you can play music, watch a video or a movie so that you have at least the noise of humans around you. Maybe your family and friends will facetime with you. Technology is a great these days. Even if you are alone you are not alone.

Alvin and I are hosting Thanksgiving at our home this year. We do most times and as I love entertaining. We are having a non-traditional Thanksgiving meal but good food is all you need. Only a couple of times or so a year do I make anything deep fried and today will be one of them. Chicken with a honey mustard sauce (homemade), potato salad (homemade), peas, corn, cheating and having stove top stuffing as have to have stuffing and for dessert “fruit pizza.” Fruit pizza is a favourite in our family. We will have my daughter and son-in-law and my grandpups Aspen and Milo.

Well Mr. Alvin is laying on his blue blanket / towel bed not far away from me. Resting.

On this Thanksgiving I am grateful for:

I am grateful that I have family that love me and that I love so much words cannot express.

I am grateful that I have dear friends all over this planet of ours. Some down the street and others halfway around the globe.

I am grateful that my daughter and son-in-law thought it was a good idea for me to adopt a puppy. Alvin is my companion, my friend and partner in crime. Okay perhaps not so much the “partner in crime” but you get the idea.

I am grateful that I was able to get my own home late in life but better late than never.

I am grateful to be employed especially during this economic crisis and grateful to be working from home.

I am grateful to be safe.

I am grateful for technology and that I have access to it.

I am grateful to be alive, to have more than what I need and some of the things I want but most of all I am grateful to see, to hear, to smell, to taste, to touch and to be in good health so that I may enjoy all of the above.

On this day and always no matter if I have a day or moments that I am feeling a bit less than positive or wonderful, I know that I am strong and that I will be okay.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. May you be in good health and be surrounded with family and friends who support and love you. Happy Thanksgiving.

Continuing to live in kindness and with respect.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 8th day of October, 2017.

The morning is a cooler one with wind and deep blue clouds filling the sky.

Sunbeams no where to be seen.

I am so excited because today, Alvin and I have the pleasure to spend some time with our family …. my daughter, his sister, my son-in-law, his brother-in-law and the grand-pups Miss Aspen and Baby Milo.

We are always happy to spend time with this group of amazing beings.

I hope that wherever you are ….. whatever you are doing ….. that you are safe, warm, dry, that your belly is full of good food and you have access to clean drinking water.

May you always show your gratitude to those around you.

We need to be more grateful for others.

Grateful for the bus driver that drives you home from work, just doing their job.

Grateful for the cashier at the grocery store, standing all day, ringing through your items, just doing their job.

Grateful to all the truck drivers for spending hours and hours sitting driving all the things we need to the stores, just doing their job.

Grateful to all the rescue personnel for spending their days and nights keeping us safe, just doing their jobs.

Grateful to all the nurses and doctors for spending their days and nights tending to our wounds, just doing their jobs.

Grateful to have police officers for spending their days and nights keeping us safe, just doing their jobs.

Grateful for the city councillors out and about even on a long weekend, just doing their job.

Grateful for the men and women that keep the peace for our country and all around the world, just doing their job.

Grateful for all my neighbourhood children who think it was great fun to rake my leaves, no work at all, just being kids with no agenda.

Grateful for all of my FAMILY and FRIENDS, you are dear to me and Alvin.

Grateful for each and every one of you.

It is all of us that make this world.

Spread the gratitude and kindness.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Special Hello to: YOU, and YOU, and YOU ……

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 26th day of November, 2015.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Neighbours …. have the best day.

It is actually quite nice outside this morning.

Supposed to be on a warming trend for the next few days including the weekend.

That is great.

Well I have unfortunate news ….. the rogue “guest” has finally made an appearance after November 11, 2015.

I have a trap that is not set in the bottom of the pantry.

There was peanut butter on it.

I thought that it was getting less and less and surely enough this morning it is all gone.

There are a couple traps set in the basement so hopefully we catch it.

I was starting to feel more at ease but with a cautionary ease.

I knew Mr. Alvin was sniffing something over the past couple of days.

I just wished that “mouse be gone.”

Go somewhere else, please.

I want to send hugs and prayers to my friends who had to put their cat down yesterday.

They had the cat for 15 years, I believe.

A member of the family.

Rest in peace, Pinkie…..

Well I guess I had better get this show on the road.

I wish everyone a happy and safe Thursday.

Remember to be kind and respectful to everyone.

Special Hello:  YOU.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 12th day of October, 2015.

Happy Thanksgiving Canada …..

Happy Thanksgiving to every living creature in this great country.

Today we celebrate peace, kindness, generosity and compassion.

Take the time to show your peaceful, kind, generous and compassionate self to someone.

Invite someone over for a meal.

Perhaps someone needs a ride to the store or to the hospital.

Let’s show everyone who we truly are ……

Just plain good people.

Not taken in by malicious television ads, news reports or social media.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I am grateful for my dear family, grand-pups, Alvin and all of my friends.

I am grateful to be in great health.

I am grateful to have my very own house …… my home.

I am grateful to be alive.

I am grateful to have my own mind.

Gratitude will light the way.

Special Hello to: EVERYONE …. Happy Monday.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 28th day of November, 2013.

WOW, less than one month until Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving to our neighbours to the south.

I hope that you all have a safe and wonderful holiday.

Can you believe it, less than one month till Christmas.

They are already starting to televise the Christmas shows.

YAY.

Some years it is the middle of December before they come on t.v.

This year early ….. I am happy about that.

Gets us all in the holiday spirit.

So on this day …. I hope that with lists in tow you can begin to tackle your holiday tasks.

Just remember …. TO DO LISTS …. are a good thing.

You can see what you have done and also you do not miss anything.

Happy Thursday …..

Special Hello: to my fellow American bloggers ….. Happy Thanksgiving.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 11th day of October, 2013.

The last time this day will come and go.

Do you ever think about the fact that this very nanosecond, this moment will be here and gone and never to return?

Unless there are several different planes of existence or dimensions if you will.

I find it fascinating to think that there might be more than one of each of us, existing out there.

It would be cool to step through a portal and be in a different time and see yourself doing something totally different.

I would like to see myself as being financially secure and working from home.

I would like to see myself involved in a happy loving relationship with the most dreamy man on the planet.

I would like to be a self sufficient writer and jewellery maker.

That’s my dream.

Who knows.

So many ideas …..

Something to think about, anyway.

So happy Friday everyone.

For those living in Canada …. Happy Thanksgiving long weekend.

We all have so much to be thankful for ….

Special Hello to: my fellow Canadians.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Happy Thursday, and Happy Thanksgiving to our Neighbours to the south ….

I want to wish you an exceptionally happy and wonderful day.

WOW, am I really saying Happy Thursday.

Once again, I am dumbfounded as to how quickly the time passes.

I guess it is because I am busy ….. the days seem to zip by.

I always want to make sure that I enjoy every second ….

Or at least TRY…..

How about you?

Even with our hectic schedules …..

We should always try to take a couple of minutes here and there to be relaxed and calm, reflect and make perfect those next moments.

Part of my morning ritual or routine is writing in a gratitude journal.

I have found it is a great way to begin the day ….

Somehow just by recording those thoughts and words, it brings them to life.

Don’t you always find that when you write something down ….. it becomes real.

For me, it does…..

Now sometimes those things manifest in different ways.

Sometimes I do not quite understand, but I do know that by remaining positive and joyful, my life is becoming the things of my dreams.

Does that make sense?

So on this Thursday ….. remember to take a few minutes just for you.

Sit down, lie down ….. walk or whatever is calming for you.  Just be still.

Smile, be happy and think good thoughts.

Think about how you want your life to be.

Use your imagination …

Have a great day.

Special Hello:  To all My AMERICAN friends ….. have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Always, Carol
