It is a NEW YEAR

Good Morning and Happy Friday.

Also Happy Valentine’s Day to all my LOVES.

Happy Valentine’s Day to EVERYONE.

This is also a long weekend for us in parts of Canada.

Family Day is this coming Monday.

What a great way to begin the weekend.

Last night I received a call out for assistance from Teddy’s  Aunt J.

Poor KOBI (puppy) has giardia.

She has been treated twice.

This is a parasite that puppies get from eating poop.

The parasite leaves the body in the poop but it develops into a cyst within hours.

This is the part that is infectious to other animals and people.

The surroundings have to be vacuumed, floors washed with a disinfectant, and any bedding, pillow covers, floor mats etc. have to be washed on a sanitation cycle every day.

My poor friend J, is exhausted.

Teddy has been treated by their VET so he is okay and poses no threat to Mr. Alvin.

Teddy will come and spend the weekend with us so that Aunt J can have a break, and Teddy, as well.

The puppy is busy without all of the added bonuses.

Alvin will get to see his best friend for Valentine’s Day.

I am sorry that I did not pick up a special treat for them.

But alas we have a container chalked full of yummy treats for puppies.

So I am quite certain that I can find something for the boys.

Well how do you spend Valentine’s Day?

Is it a big deal?

Not for me.

Perhaps somewhat when I was a younger woman and dating.

It was kind of important.

But not so much that I was upset if I did not receive flowers or a gift.

It is more of a retail grab these days than anything else.

Jewelry stores want you to buy diamonds for the special person in your life.

Florists want to sell you roses.

Candy stores want to sell you the biggest box of chocolates.

Then there are cards.

I do sometimes give my kids and grandpups a little treat.

Nothing huge.

Alvin gets a treat as he usually would and hugs with love.

I think that we should treat our family, friends, and all beings with kindness and respect all year round.

Not just make a big deal once or twice a year.

Life is life.

Make certain today and every other day of the year that you show your love and appreciation for all beings.

We cannot survive without each other.

Whether you are an elephant in Africa or a single woman in Canada or a bee in California.

We all need each other.

We are all linked.

When the chain is broken …..

Let us not go there.

Have an awesome Friday.

I honor you with kindness and respect today and always.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to the 14th day of February, 2018.

It rained yesterday in Edmonton so by the time I left work at 4:00 p.m. it was pretty icy.

Thankfully downtown some of the businesses had salted/sanded the sidewalks in front of their businesses.

The longest stretch of sidewalk that I have to walk by is a Senior’s Complex.

Unfortunately it was not salted nor sanded.

A young boy slipped although he was it was fun.

His brother on the other hand did not see the joy in his slipping and sliding about nor did his Grandmother.

After I took one step on this walk and started to slip, I decided the best course of action was to walk in the snow by the trees.

At least I could stay upright.

An older woman (yup, older than me) was coming toward me and she was walking in the snow as well.

I stopped when I got to her and we briefly chatted about the ice and I held her arm and we did a little turnabout so that neither would fall as we passed each other.

Coming home, I simply walked on the streets as only a couple of houses had their walks salted/sanded.

Most folks may not have been home yet.

I have a pool of water in front of my house due to drainage/snow melting.

My walk was icy coming up to the house so I walked in the snow.

This morning I am donning my ice picks once again to safely walk to the bus.

Now back to this day, this particular day.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

The day of flowers, candy and dinners out.

Or perhaps a card expertly written by your love stating their  love for you.

I will not have the flowers, candy, dinner or even the card.

But I did receive some chocolate on Sunday from my friend and her family, so that counts.

It was specially for today (just arrived early).

But I know that I am loved, supported and care about; truly that is all that matters in the grand scheme of things.

I have the best family and friends.

Honestly just knowing that you are not alone is more than enough.

When I was younger and was dating I received the flowers, candy and dinners out and even cards.

Been there – done that, I suppose you could say.

Here are some flowers for you.

Just in case you are not surrounded by them.

I have lots to go around ……

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Special Hello to:   All our family and friends.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 14th day of February, 2016.

I guess today is Valentine’s Day.

How could I forget?

But I did.

Yesterday I thought of it but this morning I did not.

The sun is shining and one of my girl friends is coming for coffee in about one hour, so that is nice.

I also have planned to finish the laundry (had towels and bedding stacked up to the rafters after three weeks without a dryer), finish canvassing my route for Heart & Stroke Fund, take a walk with Mr. Alvin and then give him a bath.

Another full day …..

So so happy to see the sun shining …. it is funny how sunshine can energize one.

I definitely have more energy in the summer with more sunny days than the winter.

Although some winters we have more sunshine than a rainy summer.

Oh well.

So for all of you my friends ….. Happy Valentine’s Day.

I hope that you are spoiled by family and friends, as I was.

The treats will last for a some time.

I am holding off on snacking on the brownie heart as I want to share some of it with my daughter when she comes for a visit tomorrow.

Take care my friends …..

Happy Valentine’s Day …..

Have a great day.

Special Hello to: all of my friends and family in Edmonton, in Regina and all over the world.

I am so grateful for each and every one of you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine’s Day from Me to You.

Thought for the day…..

HAPPY HAPPY TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH, 2012 – VALENTINE’S DAY.

I want to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you out there a Happy Heart’s Day.

May you be surrounded by love and laughter, grace and compassion, great health, wealth and abundance.

On this very special day ….. remember to take the time to tell your loved ones that you “love them.”

Even though you may shower them with gifts ….. the act of “love” is much more important.

The simple … no cost ….. no waiting in lines ….. just a hug, a kiss and letting them know that you honestly love them and care.

Is the best gift of all.

I do love flowers and chocolate very much …… but honestly a hug and kiss and the feelings of love showered upon me …….. L-O-V-E

Have a great Valentine’s Day.

Special Hello:  Happy Valentine’s Day to my “readers”, my family, my friends and everyone – everywhere……

Always, Carol and Alvin (Happy Valentine’s Day Mr. Alvin from your Momma)   🙂

Happy Valentine’s Day

I had a light bulb moment today.

Realized that it was less than one week until Valentine’s Day.

So I got out my supplies and made a bunch of cards for those special people in my life.

Well, truth be told ….. there are so many “special folks” in my life and I simply would run out of supplies including stamps before making enough for all of them.

So for those folks that do not receive one of my “homemade” Valentine’s Day cards in the mail …… HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY.

I love you all……..

Craft Supplies for Valentine Cards

Homemade Valentine's Day Cards

This is what happens when you make things!!

More cards .....

Construction Details:  I took some “card” size construction paper that I happen to have on hand.

This paper came in a pad with a variety of colours and designs.  I folded each sheet in half.

Then I took some red construction paper and cut it in widths matching the size of the folded card.

The red paper became the inside of each card.  I had some ladybug stickers and since they were “red” I figured they were appropriate

for my Valentine’s Cards.  After that just wrote a little verse in each.

Simple but so nice.  I love receiving cards in the mail and receiving them period.  Also better when homemade.

Well my friends Lea and Mahee-Lee just called and they are coming over.

So have to sign off for now.

Always, Carol
