Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to January 1, 2019.

There is a wall or a bank of dark blue clouds half way up the horizon and clear sky above that …. so beautiful.

I have not seen this in a long time.

There was more snow over night.

There is a crescent shaped moon hoovering in the morning sky.

There is something near it but not a star.

Could it be the space station?

I suppose so.

I am not certain if it is visible to the naked eye.

These are the views from my office window as I key these words for this blog.

A beautiful peaceful morning.

The first day of 2019 and the last day before heading back to work.

It will be shock to both Alvin and I as we have been staying up late, getting up late, he has been eating later.

Tonight will be to bed on time so that 5:00 a.m. does not totally shock our bodies.

Alvin and I enjoyed a walk in the early afternoon followed by a visit from one of our friends who lives nearby.

I had decided to leave the tree and decorations up so that she could see them.

Most years they are up and down before we see each other.

Not this year – I left the tree and decorations up and they will come down today.

Lots to do on this first day of the New Year.

Back to the regular routine tomorrow.

Back to a new office as well tomorrow.

Just curious did you stay up until Midnight to bring in the New Year?

We managed to stay until 11:00 and were in bed by 11:20 p.m.

I am pretty sure that I was asleep before midnight but woke up about 1:30 a.m.

I used to make resolutions but have decided against doing so the past couple of years or so.

Now I just make the conscious decision to “live my best life.”

I want to continue to be a good person.

Be kind and good.

Helpful and compassionate.

All those types of traits.

I want to continue to be healthy and will walk more, eat less and drink more water.

Try more new things.

Write more …..

Well time to get going here.

Nice to see clear morning sky.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I will not be drinking coffee in the afternoon.

I have totally enjoyed these 11 days off from work.

I spent the days with friends and family.

Bit of work around the house but mainly just enjoying the days.

Special Hello to: everyone, Happy New Year.  Have an awesome first day of 2019.

Always, Carol & Alvin

PS – warm temperatures today – perfect for a nice long walk.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 12th day of September, 2018.

Dark out and raining.

Last night after our walk; we put the remaining flowers into the garage.

They are doing so great that I wanted to have them for awhile longer.

They are watered and if the sun shines they will get some light through the windows.

This cold snap is only to last until next week and then we will have some mid teen temperatures.

The flowers will love that.

I was going to wear a long sleeved top today and it felt warm.

I also put on socks as am going to wear shoes with them today.

I also am wearing full length jeans today.

All of a sudden my body temperature soared.

So off with the long top and on with no sleeved-top and short sleeved shrug of sorts.

That helps.

The first time that we start to wear warmer clothes feels odd, feels strange and WARM.

Also changed my purse from summer white to fall/winter black.

I have other colours as well but somehow it feels like should be black.

Alvin is snuggled in all his cuteness on the little blue blanket.

With winter just around the corner and who knows how short that corner is …. I am thinking that I need to get doing yoga/pilates SOMETHING on a regular basis.

Somehow that “roll” is not going away …. walking is good but does not take that away once it has formed.

Oh the joys of being past 50, er um, now past 60.

No excuses.

There are plenty of folks past 60, even 70 and 80 that are slim and trim, and super healthy.

I was so inspired by CHER at 72.

Now I know that she has had some help along the way …. but you do not keep that figure without exercise.

So I am going to get back into it …..

I have recorded several 1/2 programs so that there is a variety.

Even found some to help with the midsection ….

That is what I need the most.

You know it is a problem when … well you know.

Who knows …. perhaps I can even get Alvin doing some exercises.

He will certainly wonder what I am doing.

Well here we go again …. almost time to leave for work.

I hope that you have an awesome day.

Perhaps it is night where you are ….. if that is the case ….. have a great night.

Happy Wednesday.

Special Hello to:  my friend “V” ….. who is one of the busiest and most hard working women I know.

Always, Carol & Alvin

These beauties are safe in the garage.

Still looking to dry some lavender.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 15th day of December, 2016.

9 sleeps till Christmas Eve.

Really !!

When did that happen?

Still pretty cold here in Edmonton.

Double digits below celsius and then add windchill in some cases, and it is COLD.

We, me and Alvin quickly puppy proofed the main floor as Baby Milo is coming to spend the day with Alvin.

Also coming along is “Casey” ….. he is in a family of friends to my kids.

As Milo has not met Casey as yet, and Casey has some health issues thought it better to bring them all here.

Mr. Alvin will look after them all and I will see if I can leave a couple of hour early today.

They should be here shortly.

Looks like baking will be on the list for the weekend.

That will be good to have that done.

Not many things left to do and that is great because there is only 9 sleeps till Christmas Eve.

I hope that whatever you are doing over the holidays before and after Christmas that you are safe, healthy and warm.

I think that I ate a bit too much in this before Christmas time ….. I can feel it around the middle.

So time now too watch and be aware of what I am putting into my mouth.

I am not starving so no need to stuff myself ….. not like I am running out of food anytime soon.

I guess I had better get going before the company arrives.

We will have to get things set up …. like a gate around the Christmas Tree – how cool is that!

I hope that you have an awesome Thursday.

Special Hello to: my friend “P” ….. Thank you for reading my blog.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 27th day of July, 2016.

Sun up …. shining brightly and there is such a delightful coolness to the air that Mr. Alvin wanted to stay outside but his Momma needed to be in the house.

He is curled up on the end of our bed ….. his second favourite place in our house.

I cannot believe how quickly time flies in the morning.

It is less than 15 minutes until I have to leave for work.

Thank goodness I am showered and dressed ….. would be a funny …. perhaps more a dreadful sight to see me running down the street in my nightgown (not full length, cause it is summer).

Oh well, we have to laugh, right.

How horrid would life be without laughter.

I like to laugh at myself and I believe it is healthy.

We all should have some humility and to be on the humble side is always better.

Just two more work days after today until my vacation begins, I am so excited.

I plan to go on some adventures with Mr. Alvin early in the morning while the air is cool.

How exciting.

So I guess it is almost time to go for now.

I hope that you enter this day with a giggle or three.

I hope that along your way that you give selflessly to another living creature.

I hope that when you close your eyes to go to sleep that you are at peace with the world.

Happy Wednesday.

Special Hello to: all the women in my life – thank you ladies.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 21st day of January, 2015.

WOW, it is Wednesday.

Seems like mmm Wednesday ……

Just being silly.

I think that is what Wednesdays should be all about …. being silly.

Cracking jokes ….. lots of laughter …..

What a great way to break up the week …..

Because we all know that Thursdays bring on Friday and that is the weekend.

Mondays are always Mondays just because it was just the weekend and no matter what …. it will be the first day back to work …

Now this is for all of us that work in a office Monday through Friday.

I do know about other weeks where the days all run together and weekends are just that when other people have time at home and with their families.

Perhaps taking a day trip or just kicking back and relaxing because they have two days for which they can clean and relax.

But for all of us who know both ways of work we do appreciate our days off and generally make the most of them.

My day off from both jobs is Saturday.

So I am very blessed because right now my daughter and her family live with me until their house is finished so she helps (actually does most of the cleaning).

On Saturdays my main task is laundry and anything to do with Alvin (vet visits, hair cut, baths), coffee with my friends and errands.

During the other nights that I am not working at the store I fill them with all of the other things that I like to do: write, jewellery, watching television ……. mmmm

Well sounds like it is almost time to go ……

The troops are rallying.

I hope that no matter how your week runs that you will consider making Wednesdays ….. SILLY WEDNESDAYS.

After all it is so healthy for us to laugh and enjoy our lives.

Unfortunately the realty of it is we work too hard.

Let us make the time to have some fun ….

Play in the snow.

Perfect time for us here to make snowmen with the snow melting.

Go for a walk.

Turn on some music and dance. Alone or with someone.

Happy Silly Wednesday.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. she always makes me laugh.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 23rd day of October, 2014.

Do you ever wake up in the morning and just have that “feeling” that something off the charts “wonderful” is about to happen to you?

I feel that way this morning.

I just feel in my heart that things are about to change in a huge way, and my life will be even better than it is.

I am on every day grateful for my life ….

Of course, like every human being on the planet – I do have moments where I could scream.

I think that is healthy.

When that happens it makes me feel even more grateful for my health which is pretty great, for Alvin and my daughter (and her family), for all of my siblings, nephews, nieces, all my FAMILY and FRIENDS; for the air that we breathe, for my home and the list goes on and on.

I think that gratitude is a healthy way to look at your world.

So on this day “feel” gratitude in your heart for all that you have and you will attract even more.

I firmly believe this ….. like attracts like.

You know for certain that when you are mad or sad ….. things just keep spiralling until you think about something good.

I hope that you have an amazing day.

Always dream and think as many positive thoughts as you can in a day.

Always take the time to just be still and try for no thoughts to enter your busy mind.

Resting the mind is good …..

Happy Thursday.

Special Hello to: my sister and brothers ….. I love you more than words can say.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 14th day of January, 2014.

Sure was windy last night with warm temperatures.

More snow yesterday.

I think we are well on our way to a record.

As I shovelled the driveway and the deck, I realized how narrow both are becoming as the space to put the snow is fast disappearing.

Now what…..

Sure wished it would remain in the plus temps for a couple or three weeks … enough to melt and dry up some of this moisture.

As we watch weather reports and the news from all over the world, I think more/most people are starting to believe that there has been significant damage done to the environment helping to create this crazy weather.

I just want our earth to be healthy and safe for us and our generations to come.

Just a couple of reminders …. things to do that will help in the effort to restore our earth to “green” ….

Take the time to separate your waste between real garbage and recycling.

Take the time to wash those cans and bottles.

If you smoke ….. please do not throw your butts on the street as they all end up down the storm drains and in the sewer system.

When you get groceries …. use cloth bags or paper or boxes anything but plastic.

Pick up the trash in your neighbourhood.

Take electronics to a recycling depot to be dismantled instead of throwing them in with the trash.

It is not only our weather that is affected but the wildlife on this planet.

You know all of those lovely plastic rings that hold your cans of pop in place instead of a box …. well they end up in the oceans and inside fish and birds.

They end up on beaches inside baby gulls and seals.

Poor babies have no idea what they are eating.

Can you imagine filling yourself up on plastic and starving to death?

Or perhaps a sharp bit of plastic perforating your insides.

How painful.

Just a reminder to be kind to your environment – we only have one earth.

If every person on this planet lived a “kind life” …. our planet would be happy.

Anyway not exactly a positive – happy blog this morning.

There are days when I am positively thrown by how inconsiderate we humans are of our co-inhabitants on this earth.

After all just because we have a “brain” that allows us to reason does not mean we are smarter or better than the common housefly.

We share this earth…..it is about time we showed it.

Special Hello to: all those people who take the time to recycle.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 3rd day of January, 2014.

Well I am back at it today after being sick yesterday.

It is amazing how quickly you can go from feeling great to not.

On this last day of the work week for most people, I would like to pass on this thought.

What would our lives be like if “we lived without judgment?”

We tend to live thinking of each end of the spectrum.

For example: either there is beauty in an object or it is ugly.

Have you ever considered that one could not exist without the other.

I am reading an interesting book at the moment.

It has got me to thinking beyond my usual positive nature.

I guess that is always a good thing.

If you are curious about the book.

It is “CHANGE Your THOUGHTS — CHANGE Your LIFE” by Dr. Wayne Dyer.

I think it is always good to stretch yourself.

So on this Friday, I am going to be “devoid of judgment.”

My lesson for the day.

See both ends of the spectrum, I believe.

Remember that one cannot exist without the other.

They are both important in the grand scheme of things.

Special Hello to: my sister  …. we should SKYPE soon.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Welcome to Thursday, December 13, 2012 ….. only 11 sleeps till Christmas Eve.

So, how did you do yesterday with thinking about what makes you “over the moon happy” …..

There are several things that make me “over the moon happy” ….

1.   living near my daughter and son-in-law and grand-puppies

2.   having Alvin as a companion and friend (my puppy )

3.   having my very own house

4.   being in great health and getting healthier everyday

5.   having this blog and you reading it

6.   being financially stable

7.   being able to see the moon and the stars in the evening and early morning sky

8.   the sound of laughter

9.   friends and family

10. music

The above list is not in any particular order but I will say this;  my family, having wonderful friends, and being in great health definitely top the list with my Alvin.

But I think you need a good mix of things to bring out your inner happiness.  If you feel good about yourself …. then you are happy.

If you are alone with no family or friends then it is hard to feel good about yourself ….. you know what I mean.

I do not believe that “things” make you happy but some “things” draw out how you feel about yourself and if you feel good …. then being happy will follow.

I am surrounded by the best people, my Alvin, a warm and inviting home and have employment … I am healthy which is so important.

So I am truly happy.  Now there are moments …. we all have them but they are few and far between (you know those moments when life doesn’t look so rosy).

So on this mid point of the last month of 2012 …. I hope that this finds you well and enjoying life.

Thank you again so much for reading my blog …. it does mean so much to me.

Have a great day.

See you back here tomorrow.

Special Hello to:  ALL MY FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS ….. HAVE THE BEST DAY!

Always, Carol and Alvin
