Thought for the day……

Welcome to Sunday the 2nd day of November, 2014.

It is overcast but relatively warm here in Edmonton.

I am almost ready to set off for an eight hour shift at the store.

Should be a fun day.

Yesterday was an awesome day I got so much accomplished including setting up the Christmas tree and decorating the inside of the house.

My daughter helped me as usual with the tree and it is always so much fun…..

Where should that Angel go? or is there too many red balls in one spot?

The tree looks awesome and I enjoyed looking at the lights last night as I watched a couple of movies.

The Halloween decorations came down just before the Christmas decorations went up.

Tomorrow night we girls will decorate the front of the house (we is my neighbour in the other half, my daughter and I).

That is always fun, too.

I love this time of year.

Our store is in the festive mood already …… and more to come.

Well time for a cup of coffee before I head out the door.

So grateful that my daughter and son-in-law are here for Alvin.

YAY.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Special Hello to: all those lovers of the holiday season ……. decorating and then taking it all in…….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the first day of December, 2013.

YAY, my favourite month of the year.

The sky is CLEAR and BLUE.

Good way to start the day.

Just getting ready to go to work.

I am so grateful to see the sunshine …. that always makes me FEEL GREAT.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

So “24” sleeps till Christmas DAY.

Just listening to some Christmas tunes while I blog and get ready for work at the store.

Tis the season.

Whoops I forgot to change my phone voicemail greeting.

Will have to remember to do that tonight.

Well on this fantastic day – I hope that this finds you HAPPY, HEALTHIER THAN EVER BEFORE AND with ABUNDANCE GALORE.

Remember this holiday season to be gentle and kind to all you meet.

When you are shopping please be patient and kind with all of the store employees.

If you are in a unkind mood please stay at home and do not spread your “un-joy.”

I have always wondered why every other service industry on the planet have customers tip the employees, but not retail.

They all make minimum (small) wages.

So in all fairness please just be kind and spread some joy this holiday season.

They work long hours and do their best to serve their customers.

So I ask in return for one small simple favour …. just smile and be kind.

Time to go to the store.

I hope that I find all our customers happy and joyful and KIND.

Thank you.

I BELIEVE in the kindness of mankind.

This holiday season.

Special Hello to: FAMILY AND FRIENDS ….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Welcome to Friday, December 21st, 2012 and we are only “3” sleeps until Christmas Eve ….

How did that happen?

Oh, by the way I apologize for writing this a bit later this morning.

Alvin woke me up at 4:30 (actually before) and I caved, so we went downstairs.

Then I checked to see if he wanted/needed to go outside, he didn’t.

So we hit the sofa for some zzz’s and then at 5:00 he got me up to have his breakfast.

This is my first day off and I wanted to sleep in so after he ate and went out, we hit the sofa and got some extra sleep.

So up just before 8:30 ……. whew…..

Guess I know who wears the pants or is the pack leader in this household.  LOL.

So are you ready for Christmas?  Perhaps you keep it simple which is absolutely great  or maybe you go just a tad over the top ….. whichever way is great ….. always do what works best for you and your family.

As long as we always think of others …. whether you give your time at your local food bank or “soup kitchen” …… donate winter clothing to a shelter ….. give some money or food to help the homeless or folks who have need some extra help….. as long as you give,

that is really what it is all about this holiday season.  Maybe there is a family in your neighbourhood who is struggling ….. you could always help out by getting together with your other neighbours and collecting foodstuffs and perhaps some gifts if they have children….but mainly the food.  There is always something we can do.

Personally my motto is to help and be kind all year long but at Christmas go that extra mile….

Even if you think “I barely have enough for me and my family” …… really you do ….. perhaps you have an extra winter coat that you haven’t wore for years and it is in perfect condition….. there is always something and besides “time” is always needed at this time of year.

I think you know what I mean.

Just remember to take the time to be “kind”… and remember your humanity….. sometimes I think we get so caught up in our lives that we forget about those around us.

We don’t always see if someone needs help or if we do, we do not reach out to help.

WE SHOULD.

Okay, so we know what we have to do, and I hope that you have added someone “extra” to your list this year and I thank you.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all those folks who give freely of their time during the holiday season.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all those folks who part with some of their hard-earned cash to help someone in need.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all those folks who go that extra mile …..

Thank you.

I hope that wherever you wander on this Friday, December 21st that you are safe, warm and extremely happy.

Special Hello to: YOU ….

Always me and Mr. Alvin,  who gives to his Momma everyday

Thought for the day…..

Welcome to Thursday, December 20th, 2012 ….. only “4” more sleeps until Christmas Eve.

Wow, wow, wow….. can you believe it?  Only 4 sleeps until “SANTA” comes to my house.

I am so excited.

Yes, I believe in him …. any why not, I ask you?

If you are going to believe in someone or something it might as well be something as wonderful and magical as Santa.

I believe in the magic that he brings to my spirit ….

I believe in the wonderment of the holiday season brought through him.

I believe …..

Isn’t it grand?

Just wanted to let you know that I will continue to write from now through Christmas.

Normally on my Friday off (which is tomorrow) and on the weekends I do not write on my blog but I want to share with all of you…. the feelings that this time brings to me.

So as we are still leaving early for work, I must sign off.

FOOD for thought ….. SANTA IS REAL……. BELIEVE……  🙂

Special Hello to: all those believers……

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Welcome to Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 …. only “6” sleeps till Christmas Eve.

I am going to be brief this morning as we are leaving early for work this morning and I have found that I will need to get up just a tad earlier.

So on this less than one week till Christmas Eve …. I hope that you are found …. filled with love and laughter …. enjoying the holiday season.

May you have the best day ever ….. stress free and full of hope.

May your today be the best one ever.

Take care and I will be back tomorrow morning … just a bit earlier…….  🙂

Thank you for reading my words ….. it truly means the world to me….

Special Hello to:  all the readers in the world … you truly rock.

Always, Carol and Mr. Alvin …..

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday November 29th, 2012.

One more day left of November.

WOW.

One more month left of 2012.

Have you been thinking about this past year?

I was thinking about it as I roll around in my head what to write in my Christmas letter.

Every year or at least for the last almost ten years I have written a letter highlighting my life for the past year, and putting a copy in with the Christmas cards that I mail.

This year seems to have passed so quickly that I barely remember back to January.

So that is when a journal comes in handy!

I write in one every morning.  It is mainly a “gratitude” journal but I also highlight the previous day’s activities (just in case I forget).

My vacation days were spent at home.

Anyway I will figure it out.

But just wondering if all of you found yourselves in a similar spot/place.

It was a good year ……

Now is a great time to recall your year.

Take note of what worked and what did not.

Always try to remember to “be in the moment” ….. the best in that time….. and all of your days will be great.

Be mindful of people during this holiday season …. be patient and kind.

Too many people rush and lose patience.

Let us just be plain old “kind” ……

I would love to see more of that at this time of year.

People are generous with gifts to the needy and such but when it comes to being out and about …. whether shopping or driving …… they lose IT!

So find it and be kind.

Thank you.

Have a great day.

Special Hello to:  PEOPLE WHO ARE ALWAYS KIND AND SHINE THEIR LIGHTS FOR ALL TO SEE, THANK YOU.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Wow, it’s Thursday, December 15, 2011 …… about 6:19 a.m. …….

Another gorgeous morning here in Edmonton, Alberta.

We are so blessed with the weather this winter.

The temperatures have been fantastic …. so mild.

(I hope that wherever you are that your weather is beautiful, too)

I am very grateful.

Alvin and I enjoyed another wonderful walk last night after work.

We were blessed to have bumped into our family (Amanda, Steven, Elton and Penny) who were also out for a walk.

Elton and Penny are my wonderful grand-puppies, grand-dogs, I guess …. no longer puppies.

But I love the term grand-puppies ……

So on this TERRIFIC, TREMENDOUS Thursday ….

I hope that you will take a few moments or perhaps a few minutes and just breathe in all of the love that surrounds us at this time of year.

I wish for all of mankind and every creature on this planet, our Earth that we all have love and peace surrounding us every day of the year.

Make this Christmas, Holiday Season extra special for everyone that you come in contact with ….. even if it is only to smile or some other kind gesture.

This is my “419th” POST ……  I am so excited.  I love writing and so happy and pleased that people enjoy reading my words.

Have a great day..

Special Hello:  To All my ANGELS that surround me on a daily basis …..

Always, Carol

P.S. sometimes the “thought for the day” gets a little carried away …… don’t you think?  😉

Thought for the day…..

Welcome to Monday, November 7th, 2011.

How are you this great Monday morning?

I am fantastic ….

Guess what I did on Saturday?

In the afternoon my daughter helped me assemble the Christmas tree.

I started the decorating process (still have to finish).

Put up some garland and most of my angel collection.

Always start with the A-N-G-E-L-S……

I decided this time around that I would start with a few ornaments and work from there.

Usually I completely redecorate my Christmas tree about 4-5 times during the holiday season.

I always strive to make it better……. that’s okay….. the perfectionist!

Later on my neighbours and I put up the outside decorations.

It looks great.

Reminds me of the homes in the movies….. with garland and lights around the doors, around the windows and on the steps.

We even have matching miniature Christmas trees sitting on our front porches.

Of course positioned just so.

They were putting up the big, big trees at West Edmonton Mall when I was leaving work Friday night.

There is this huge one … (no idea of the height) that they were working on as I left the mall….

the girls had the bottom about 1/3 decorated …. I remarked how pretty it was and what a big job….

They had huge boxes of red and silver balls …… all sizes….

Now that’s a tree…… makes my 7 1/2 foot tree seem small….

I am always in awe of how pretty the staff make the mall look for Christmas.

You all know the big ship/boat on the main floor at the mall …… there is this huge bridge that goes over

the water ….. and it is all decorated with lights and ornaments and the boat, too.  OMG.

There were people on the bridge having their photos taken as I left the mall last night.

Seems like I am at the mall a lot (yes Friday and Sunday)….

For the first time in my life I am working at a mall and not shopping……

Anyway I love this time of year…..

Our store is decorated beautifully by the staff and we are playing Christmas music during store hours.

Just a peek into my holiday season.

I hope that yours is going great.

Special Hello: to every one of the seven billion inhabitants of the planet Earth and of course, to the all other creatures here as well…..

Always, Carol

Thought for the day……it’s Christmas.

It’s CHRISTMAS TIME !!!

Wishing everyone a safe and fun Holiday Season.

May you be surrounded by love and laughter.

May hot chocolate warm your tummy ……

Pull out that old board game and play with your kids.

Fill a tin or other container full of your holiday baking

Take it to a neighbour, friend or give it to someone you meet just walking down the street.

Grab some friends and family and go sing Christmas Carols at a Seniors Home or in your Neighbourhood.

Put a Christmas movie in the DVD player, and call the neighbourhood children to come in and watch.

Take a morning or afternoon and surprise someone by cleaning their house.

P.S. make sure that you have a key !!!

Shovel someone’s walk.

Put a holiday CD in the player and crank it up and dance around the house …..

Give your doggie a bath (if you have one) …… Merry Christmas…

Take the time to do something special for a family member or friend or a neighbour.

Go to a coffee place and purchase several coffee cards with a free cup of coffee or hot chocolate on each one …

Then go out in the world and hand them out ….. Merry Christmas.

You can also take them to your neighbourhood shops ….. give them to all those special people that work so hard in retail….

We all have an extra pair of mittens, scarf, toque or coat that we could donate to someone in need.

Drop off some canned goods at your local food bank.

I guess at the end of the day …… just go out and spread LOVE to the World.

We have so much – please share.

Remember to smile at everyone you meet all day long…..

Let’s make this the most wonderful Christmas ever !!!

Merry Christmas Everyone…..

Always, Carol
