Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and  Welcome to Thursday the 31st day of August, 2017.

Last day of this wonderful month.

Yesterday did not reach the temperatures that were forecasted which was wonderful.

However; this was not the case in other parts of Alberta and Canada.

Hot and dry – little or not rain.

We were blessed to have some moisture this summer.

It would seem that there is so much extreme with the moisture.

Either none or too too much.

We are thinking of our neighbours to the south affected by Hurricane Harvey.

May you receive the assistance that you need.

To all those that have lost family members whether two or four-legged, our hearts go out to you.

We are grateful to the men and women who have volunteered to help out those in need.

Also to all those whose job it is to help in crisis situations, thank you.

We see reports on the news and on social media of rescues and are grateful.

It will be a long way to rebuild your homes, communities and lives but you will do it.

Take care on this Thursday.

May you be warm and dry and have clean water to drink.

Special Hello to: my family all over the world including Houston, Texas.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 26th day of December, 2016.

The sun is peering out through the cold winter sky.

Another cold morning.

WOW, Christmas is over already.

I missed writing yesterday.

My kids and two new additions to the family arrived on Christmas Eve late afternoon.

One of the new additions had not as yet met us and we wanted to introduce Alvin to her on neutral ground.

They said that is always better.

So we took them for a walk until Mr. Alvin’s paws were cold and we had to retreat to the house.

I will say that Alvin did pretty good but definitely better day two.

Baby Milo was his energetic self.

Miss Aspen calmly investigated the house.

She is a beauty.

Milo and Aspen have the same colouring.

We spent the evening keeping an eye on the pups and eating.

Eating and eating.

Is that not what people do on Christmas Eve.

We watched a Christmas Movie and then opened gifts.

This Christmas we did not buy gifts but decided to choose something from our homes to give or make something from things around the house.

It worked out perfectly.

Everyone LOVED their gifts.

I definitely think this will be an ongoing tradition in our homes.

Yesterday was quiet but wonderful.

We got up ….. had breakfast ….. coffee…… relaxed.

Made the turkey …… had a short nap and it was time to get supper on the go.

We had a lovely supper ….. ate way too much.

The pups were starting to get settled (most especially Alvin).

Then it was all over.

The family left after supper.

Alvin and I just cleaned up and then I had a rum and EGG NOG with ice.

I will say it tasted way better than I remembered.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I watched the modern version of the “Miracle on 34th Street.”

Well here it is almost noon ……

Time to go and have a shower and freshen up.

I was looking around earlier and thinking that I would take the decorations down.

But will wait until tomorrow.

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas.

We remembered our babies that left us last year and enjoyed making memories with the new ones.

Life is good when you are surrounded by family, love and “good food.”

Happy Boxing Day.

Special Hello to: all our Family and Friends.

Always, Carol and Alvin

The newest additions to our Family:  Miss Aspen and Baby Milo.

Welcome babies to our Family.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 1st day of December, 2016.

Yes it is December and yes there are twenty-three, 23 sleeps until Christmas Eve Day.

Are you ready?

Have you continued with your traditions or will you be starting some new ones this Christmas?

I am proud to say that every year we revamp our Christmas traditions.

Some years you may not notice but others you definitely would.

Last year Christmas was at my daughters and we had Christmas Dinner catered.

This year Christmas is at my house and I am cooking a turkey.

Nice change.

Last year we exchanged gifts and this year we had planned not to exchange them between myself, my daughter and son-in-law.

I came up with something different, not buying but still something to exchange.

Good for the recycle, reuse as we are all trying not to spend money on things that we at the end of the day do not really need.

So we will look through our homes and find items that we think each other would love.

Not too difficult.

There are so many ways to make Christmas extra special.

I think that the thing I love the most about this time of year is spending it with family and friends perhaps sharing a meal or just some treats freshly baked.

So when you are running around like the Mad Hatter stop and think about all of those purchases that perhaps you are putting on your credit card.

Do you really need to do this?

Does the person really need that $200 sweater?

Give more from the heart.

Start making things …. people love home-made.

It is the wave of the future.

For those people that you have no idea but want to give ….. bake some sugar cookies or fudge.

There are ways.

How about that vase of Aunt’s that you have had sitting on the shelf forever but your Sister loves it so much.

Give it to your sister.

The gesture will be priceless.

Think about your options.

Please do not get into debt over the holidays.

So not worth it.

Really I can tell you that from experience.

Well time to hit the frosty trail to the bus again.

Have a wonderful first day of December.

Don’t sweat things ….. make a list.

That is one of my tasks for tomorrow evening is to take a calendar and write down everything that needs to be done and purchased between now and December 31, 2016.

That way no surprises….

Bye for now.

Special Hello to: my friends and family all over the world.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 11th day of November, 2016.

Special day for more than a couple of reasons.

First, Happy Birthday to my nephew “T” …. not by blood but is family.

He has been family to me since the second he came into this world.

I have known him since that day.

He has a warm heart and great smile.

Alvin and I want to wish you the best day ever.

We miss you and look forward to spending time with you again in the future.

Happy Birthday Buddy ….. have a great great day.

***********

Today is also the date that we remember those brave souls over all time who have

volunteered to leave their homes and families and what was

familiar to them to defend our country.

We say from the bottom of our hearts “Thank You.”

We appreciate your lives and service to our country.

May PEACE rule this Earth one day so that no blood is ever shed again.

Remember to live your life in Peacefulness.

Remember to Remember that all life is precious.

Special Hello to: all those brave souls who give up so much for us each day.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 4th day of May, 2016.

This morning my thoughts are to a city several hours north of Edmonton.

Fort MacMurray.

They are in the midst of wildfires that are engulfing their homes, businesses, schools, almost everything.

In the later afternoon we watched on television and social media the long winding lines of cars, trucks and motorhomes leaving the city.

The line was long and slow as the city was evacuated.

Tears filled our eyes.

I do not know at this time how many homes were lost.

I do not know for certain that there has been no loss of human life or beloved pets.

I do know for certain that the loss of wildlife is huge …. there are no words.

There is no place for them to go.

They cannot outrun the walls of flames that seem to almost reach the sky.

I am almost afraid to check the news to see as last night the wind had increased in it’s strength.

So today I would ask you to keep our fellow Albertans in your thoughts and prayers.

When the call comes for assistance I know that people will rally to help with the fires and lives.

Later with the rebuilding of homes and businesses and the city.

My heart is broken today.

Take care everyone.

Special Hello to: citizens of Fort MacMurray, Alberta ….. you are in our thoughts.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 10th day of February, 2016.

Yesterday was about + 10 degrees celsius ….. crazy.

WOW, how did that happen?

I am pretty sure it was February 1st the day before yesterday ….

Oh well ….. winter is passing and with it comes the arrival of spring.

My favourite season.

I did note the other day that the bunnies are starting to turn brown.

How lovely …..

Sure have not seen as many of them as we used to when I first moved here from Regina.

That being said ….. there has been so much construction in this area I can see why.

All of the poor animals displaced because we keeping encroaching on their homes.

Sure wished that we could live together without displacing them.

Everyday you hear of another species that is now extinct.

I feel for all of these creatures.

Perhaps it is a dream of mine and some others that PEACE will reign someday over this planet.

Is it possible to happen in my lifetime?

I do not know.

Sure would be nice.

When you hear of people starving and living in absolute poverty and then the billions countries spend on war ….. what is wrong with that?

If all of the money was put into finding cures for diseases, spent on the environment and such ….. well that would be great.

We can make a difference …. one person at a time.

Be good to your environment ….. small things make a big difference.

Turn off the lights …… walk instead of driving ….. don’t toss that coffee cup…

Please ….

Well it is time to put the finishing touches on before I head out to work.

I hope that you have an awesome day.

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 12th day of May, 2015.

Sun coming up …..

Great start to this wonderful Tuesday morning.

Last night I raked the front lawn and gathered up the hundreds of cork size bits of soil from the aeration.

I thought it would never end.

There literally were hundreds of them.

Also just saying ….. THEY WERE HEAVY when placed in the recycling bag.

Followed by a good watering.

The ground is so dry that watering is likely in the future if we want green grass unless Mother Nature decides to help us out.

Mr. Alvin was out with me for a bit until he was so excited by something that I could not see that I let him back into the house.

It was so relaxing and so much fun being outside doing this small amount of yard work.

No matter what our days are filled with …. work …. school whatever …. we have our homes.

Most of us are so blessed to have our own homes.

I know that I cannot speak for everyone.

If you are blessed enough to have your own yard or even a balcony or patio space ….. go OUTSIDE.

Use it.

Plant some flowers ….. maybe some herbs or veggies …. put a chair out there.

It is so great to be outside ….. most of us do not fully utilize our green space.

Even if you do not have your own ….. there are parks usually not far away …..

Have fun, enjoy.

We also enjoyed a beautiful walk last night.

Well time to finish getting ready to go to the office.

Have a great Tuesday ……

Deep breath … you can do it.

Special Hello to: my cousin “J” in Saskatoon ….. miss you cousin.

Always, Carol and Alvin
