Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 10th day of December, 2014.

One day closer to Christmas ….. only 14 actual sleeps until Christmas Eve Day.

How did that happen?

We are experiencing such wonderful spring like weather here in Edmonton.

I do know what that can bring but we are grateful all the same to have some warmer temperatures this time of year.

Plus is always better than minus.

Well at least always in temperatures and school grades.

I always try to have a sense of humour in everything that I do ….

Sometimes people do not necessarily understand it but I do.

This is the time of year that we begin reflecting on the year gone by.

I always think wow did all of that really happen.

Most years I could write a book on my life, perhaps I should.

There were babies born, people passing, people getting ill, people getting better, changes at both my jobs, reconnecting with old friends, coffee dates, our first wedding jewellery made, and so much more.

Perhaps that does not really sound too exciting but when you have the details involved and lived it – trust me it was.

I am so grateful to live my life and know that it just keeps getting better and better.

There are moments of clarity and moments of fog.

But there are moments.

Moments to live and to live those moments is the most precious gift of all.

So on this Wednesday I am grateful for my life.

Every morning I write in my journal of the previous day’s events, my thoughts on said events and write down the first ten things I am grateful for at that moment and then give thanks for healing family and friends.

It is a great way to begin the day.

Well time to go to work.

Have a great one.

Remember there will always be moments of clarity and ones that are foggy.

Things are not always crystal clear and that is okay.

Special Hello to: my nephew in the hospital who everyday gets better and better.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 29th day of November, 2014.

It is a frigid cold morning here in Edmonton.

On the plus side the SUN is shining.

I worked last night for Black Friday at the store and just got to bed around midnight.

Seems like I just went to bed and Alvin was wanting me to get up to give him his breakfast.

So just after five a.m. we were up and then when he was done it was back to bed.

Although I have already washed one load of laundry, put in the second and hand washed the ‘tupperware containers’ and miscellaneous odd chores it feels like I just got up.

Well I am off for my me time …

Having coffee with my friend “G” …. I love chatting with her and catching up.

I am still feeling a bit of the “boot camp’ from Tuesday night.

Not too much but a little bit in my legs when I bend over.

Another busy Saturday ahead …. laundry, going to visit my nephew in the hospital, grocery shopping, housework and finishing my Christmas cards (meaning 2/3 of them).

I hope that you have an awesome Saturday.

Remember to take some time for yourself.

I am right now.

Take care.

Special Hello to: my fellow human beings ….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 20th day of November, 2014.

Another beautiful morning here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

It was a great night at the store last night.

Had some awesome customers.

Two Managers from other stores stopped by, and it was great to see them (used to work at West Edmonton Mall store).

There were quite a few shoppers out and about picking up things for Christmas and others getting ideas.

So another Thursday … tomorrow Friday ….. wow, it sure seems like it happened yesterday.

I guess when time passes quickly that is a good sign …… means I am keeping busy and doing things that I enjoy.

Mr. Alvin even sat on my “lap” this morning as I wrote in my gratitude journal.”

I love when he does that …… he used to want up all of the time when I was at the table writing but as of late it has been sporadic.

Which is okay ….. a Mom will take any cuddles time she can get ….. ūüôā

Thank you to all those wonderful people who take the time to read my blog.

Between working two jobs, having a house to look after, my Alvin, visiting my nephew at the hospital, the jewellery business; I do not often have the time to read many of my fellow bloggers fine work but I do try, and read as many as I can.  I appreciate you taking the time for me.

Special Hello to: my fellow BLOGGERS – you guys rock – keep up the great work.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 9th day of November, 2014.

Well we have snow …..

My sister and her guy were here for the day yesterday.

We had a great visit and spent most of the day in and out of the car.

But it was a very great one.

I got up early and started laundry, gave Mr. Alvin a hair cut, fed Aussie (neighbour’s cat), gave Alvin a bath, visited with my sister when they arrived, then to the Vet, then home shortly, then to the hospital, then home shortly to feed all of the babies and then out for supper at West Edmonton Mall and then did some window shopping as we did not find anything that caught our eyes and then back home where we visited for a bit and then they were gone to the hotel by 9:30.

So busy day but I would not trade it for anything.

My nephew improves with each visit and I know one of these days he is just going to open his eyes and give us a look.

I am just enjoying a cup of coffee before heading out to the store to work for the day.

I am so grateful that the kids are here for Mr. Alvin or I would not be able to work these crazy hours.

I hope that you had a great weekend.

Special Hello to: my family all over the country …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

P.S. thank you for reading my blog …… it means the world to me.

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 29th day of October, 2014.

Wow another glorious fall / autumn day.

Only two more sleeps until Halloween.

Still haven’t decided what to wear ….. I will dress up for the office and then change before heading to the store.

Always fun ….. ¬†any ideas???

Last night I had an update on my nephew, and he seems to be making some progress although still not out of coma.

My daughter and I are going up to the hospital this evening after work.

When I write on my blog in the mornings it is with careful eyes watching me, “ALVIN’S, of course.”

He always makes certain that he can see me …. when I am at home seldom am I out of his sight.

Even as human beings we like to have our space from our loved ones.

It appears not to be the case with this puppy “dog.”

He is definitely a “Momma’s Boy” and at home he goes from room to room with me.

There is a bond between me and Alvin that is strong as iron ….. I do not remember nor do I wish to remember what life was like before he entered my life.

I am so grateful for being in great health, for having employment, to have my bills paid every month, to have lots of food in the house, to be surrounded by loving family and friends, for telephones ( the ones that are portable but do not fit into your pocket), for time and energy.

So on this day I wish you grace and purpose, joy, abundance and love.

Keep dreaming and bring your dreams one step closer to fruition.

Special Hello to: family and friends

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 22nd day of October, 2014.

WOW, it is another gorgeous day.

Last night after visiting my nephew at the hospital; arriving home feeding puppies – me and Alvin went for a walk.

Well we started to go on a walk.

Once we reached the front sidewalk (it was dark); I realized that my neighbour had just arrived home.

So we chatted for a bit and out of the blue this yellow coloured cat came strolling down the sidewalk.

Alvin was pulling a bit on the leash and wagging his tail.

He was in the foster home with four cats so I know he likes them.

But not since then has he been that close to a cat.

The cat came right up to us …..

Alvin was sniffing her and they were fine.

She didn’t hiss or snarl and Alvin didn’t bite her.

They were really good together.

This cat has been coming around for awhile and we have been trying to figure out if it has a home.

There are a lot of cats in our neighbourhood and some of them like to prowl around at night.

We have seen this cat during the day on occasion.

We discussed what to do about the cat.

She was going to try and get her into the house so that she could take the cat to the Humane Society.

I thought because Alvin and said cat got along so well that maybe I would adopt her ( I am calling the cat “her” because Alvin loves the ladies, so has to be a female) once the kids got moved into their new house. ¬†There are too many people/animals in the house at the moment. ¬†She would be scared. ¬†Perhaps.

So my neighbour thought she could take the cat until then.

Alvin and I went on a walk and when we came home …. their front door was open as they were trying to coax the cat inside but to no avail. ¬†They took a photo and are going to post it on KIJIJI and then check with the Humane Society.

So it was a great night.

My nephew continues to make slow progress….. his body is healing amazingly well…… just need him to keep his eyes open and start to see things ….. he will, I know.

Well time to go to the office again.

I hope that you have a great day.

Always exciting at my house.

Special Hello to: everyone, with winter around the corner if you see any stray animals please report them to your local Humane Society or SPCA so that they will not freeze outdoors.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 14th day of October, 2014.

Back to getting up in the dark again after the long weekend ….

We had a good Thanksgiving and were grateful that we were able to go and visit my nephew in hospital.

Still no change ….. we are hoping that he will just wake up and know everyone.

Alvin and I were able to secure the family photographer (my daughter) to take our annual photos.

It was such a perfect day and Mr. Alvin was quite the model.

We took them by the lake/park near our home.

A most beautiful spot for photos.

All in all, we so much to be thankful and grateful for and I remind myself every second of everyday.

Today the forecast is for about 15 degrees celsius.

Nice and warm for this time for year.

I hope that you had a great weekend and that your week will be spectacular.

Wishing you love and rainbows.

Special Hello to: my family …. take care and stay healthy that is the most important thing at this time.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 12th day of October, 2014.

It has been almost one week since my last blog.

Tragedy struck our family this past Monday morning when one of my nephews was involved in a single vehicle accident.

He was flown from a rural area in Alberta by STARS (helicopter) to one of the hospitals here in Edmonton.

Suffering a moderate to severe brain injury;  he has been in a coma since the accident.

With all of the fractures throughout his body he miraculously remains in stable condition, and Doctors say they will heal over time.

We thank everyone who has taken the time to come and visit and offer their support to my nephew and our family.

At this point they are concerned about pneumonia and flu season.

So we hope that people will use common sense and not come to visit with a cold or flu.

I am grateful to the medical staff as they have been great.

He has someone with him 24/7 which is a relief.

I was there everyday but had to take yesterday and today to do some things around the house, and today to work at the store.

I did not realize how exhausting it would be.

But it will be a long time until he leaves a medical facility.

So we will just take one day at a time.

I am so grateful for this beautiful weather, the sun is shining and one does not even require a jacket.

I am so grateful to be alive so that I may offer my assistance whenever/wherever needed.

I am grateful to be in good health and to have a beautiful home surrounded by those I love.

It is times like these that we stop and think about our own lives.

How truly blessed we are …..

Little things do not matter.

Special Hello to: all the hearts that are enveloping my nephew with good energy and love, thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 8th day of November, 2013.

We have a fresh blanket of snow covering the ground.

Last night Alvin and I went for a nice little walk and then a bit later it started to snow.

Sometimes we have impeccable timing.

Today is my day off from the office and I work tonight at the store.

My friend “G” is coming over in less than one hour and we are going to take several boxes of “extremely well kept” magazines to a nearby hospital.

My daughter and I love magazines and we take care of them.

So it is with pleasure that others will enjoy them.

Lots to do this day.

Thoughts today revolve around just how blessed and fortunate I am to live here and now.

I guess you could say that I have impeccable timing.

I hope that you have impeccable timing in whatever you are doing this day.

Take care and I will be back tomorrow.

Have a great Friday.

Special Hello to: all my supporters who have made reaching my first goal of 1,000 blogs a reality.

If no one reads it is just another journal.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 15th day of September 2013.

How are you this Sunday?

Are you ready to begin an adventure?

Are you ready to try something new?

Are you ready to be better?

Are you ready to have faith?

Are you ready to smile at someone that you have not been introduced to?

Are you ready to give something to someone unexpectedly?

Are you ready to live your life like you have never lived it before?

Well today is the day!

Let’s get out there and truly live our lives?

Be the best person you can be?

Do the best at every thing that comes your way.

Take a chance.

Be brave …..

Send an email or make a phone call to someone you haven’t been in contact for awhile.

GO out into your neighbourhood or to a park and pick up any miscellaneous trash.

Swing by a senior’s home and check with reception and see who has not had a visitor recently and drop by.

Take a cup of coffee to a friend.

Go to a hospital and see about volunteering.

Go to an animal shelter and see about volunteering.

Go through your closet and give clothing, coats, shoes that you no longer need to a goodwill centre or a shelter.

Maybe start a coat drive before winter starts to give to those less fortunate.

Volunteer at a school or church.

Just simply do something nice for someone.

It doesn’t take a million dollars to make a difference to someone – ¬†just a bit of time.

We can all make a difference…..

DO ONE RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS TODAY.

Let us start a revolution of KINDNESS and UNDERSTANDING … of MAKING A DIFFERENCE and of HELPING OUR FELLOW MAN.

Let us be kind to all living creatures big and small.

I hope that you will come on this journey with me.

Let me know how you are and what you are doing to make a difference.

Special Hello today to all those people who constantly make a difference in the lives of others.

Always and Forever, Carol and Alvin
