Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 21st day of March, 2019.

Well we are officially on day two of SPRING.

Yesterday was gorgeous.

When Alvin and I were out for our walk with our friend; I actually was too warm with a sweater on top of a tank top.

How is that for the 20th day day of March 2019?

I say FANTASTIC.

We are so grateful for this change in the weather.

Long time coming.

Don’t get me wrong I do like, okay love winter but even too much of a good thing; can be too much.

Alvin was so muddy by the time we got home.

Took a while to get him cleaned up but we did.

I am so grateful that the sidewalk in front of my house is slowly starting to resemble something one can walk upon.

It has been brutal the past week or so.

To think that it was clean except for a bit of snow, well that is just crazy.

There is a rim of ICE about four inches thick that is on the bottom of the snowbank that covers the lawn.

I have never seen such a thing on our lawn until now.

That is going to take some time to melt for sure.

Okay perhaps enough about snow and ice.

I am very happy as is Mr. Alvin that it is SPRING.

After we got home from our walk and I got Alvin cleaned up; I walked over to pick up Humphrey.

Was I ever surprised when I unlocked the door to see the patio door open and his Momma and him out on the deck.

We startled each other.

She decided to work from home last night.

Humphrey joined us so that his Momma could get her work done.

We had a great night.

A quick Alvin story.

One of my colleagues from the office recently lost her dog.

She asked me if I would like all of his dishes, toys and stuff.

I will clean it all, she said.

I told her with gratitude that “Alvin” would love to have his things.

For some reason, I fail to remember his name.

Anyway she brought these two huge bags to work yesterday and I brought them home.

Well Mr. Alvin thought it was Christmas …… he found a duck and was so excited, a new toy.

He grabbed that duck and threw it up into the air.

Grabbed it again and ran with it.

He went to the back door wanting to take it outside.

I said “Alvin, your duck has to stay in the house.”

He dropped the duck and went outside.

In the bags there was a sleeping blanket for pups, a hand-made quilt from pup’s Grandma, two sets of dishes with stands, toys, a big stuffed dog pillow, two stainless steel water dishes, did I say toys!

We, Alvin hit the mother load.

There were two jackets which are so cute but they are not the “proper cut” for Mr. Alvin (it has been a long winter)!!

Alvin is so lucky.

We can share some of the items.

I wrote up a nice “thank you” card for my colleague to show our appreciation.

Well appears that it is almost time to leave for work, yet again.

My the time zips along quickly.

Alvin is resting on his blue blanket beside me.

He loves that blanket.

He actually has three blue blanket.

There is the one that came with him from his Foster Parents and then two light blue blankets that I bought from my neighbour at a “garage sale.”

He has so many blankets now.

So lucky.

Have a wonderful Thursday.

Hoping for  a quiet day at the office.

Special Hello to: you and you and you and you…….take care …… Happy Thursday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 17th day of August, 2015.

Wow another August Monday morning to enjoy.

The sun is coming up a bit later each morning …. shorter days.

The air is cool as summer slowly turns into fall.

I love late summer and fall.

Most especially fall.

After last week’s blast of hot hot air it is a good 10 degrees cooler during the day.

Much easier at night for people to sleep as it gets quite cool during the night.

The temperature in the house was 68 degrees F, this morning.

Well Alvin and I had an unusual Sunday as my neighbour in the other half of our duplex held a “front lawn sale” ….

We ended up out front from basically 9:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Few inside breaks as it was kind of cool to be just sitting …..

It was relaxing and fun.

I found some items that I could use so helped with her sales.

Alvin enjoyed all the folks who stopped by.

I had him on a leash and at some points sitting on my lap to help keep me warm.

Ended up with a winter vest on and thankfully I had put on socks (yup socks with sandals).

We even weeded our front flower beds in between customers.

Leftovers of peach salsa and tortilla chips for lunch and a couple pots of hot coffee.

Well time to get going to the office.

I hope that you all had some time to yourself and enjoyed your weekend.

If you were working I hope that you did take some “me” time.

Happy Monday.

Special Hello to: yes, sister …. so far this tea venture has been great …. am loving it.  Lots to learn.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 5th day of July, 2015.

Wow almost one week into July of 2015.

Summer is zipping along.

Today is overcast and COLD ….. yes, I am saying COLD.

The high for today is about 20 degrees celsius compared to the 30 degree weather of last week and Friday …. feels cool.

I will be putting on a sweater in the house.

I do hope that it rains as we could use some moisture.

Nice change to be on the cool side, though.

Yesterday my daughter picked us up (me and Mr. Alvin) and we travelled to their house.

They live about 15 minutes away by car.

Just a short drive.

Mr. Alvin does not appreciate a car ride.

I love their new house ….. the smell of a new house ….

But he made it there and back.

My daughter took me to some of the places that they have discovered since moving to their new home.

This indoor market that has a cool cafeteria style restaurant ( we stopped for lunch, yummy ).

The big deal for us was to explore a couple of antique stores ….. we spent a few hours just looking at all of the dishes, jewellery, cans, furniture, small household gadgets.  So much.

I found a couple of items.

One was a twisted copper wire wreath.

It fits in my main bathroom which has copper coloured accessories.

The other was a hand painted box with a drawer (could be used for almost anything …. jewellery….. office supplies…..teas.

Good prices on my items.

The other big find for me wasn’t at an antique store but at the local Winners store ….

Alvin has short legs and I wanted to replace the IKEA ottoman that I had with something a bit bigger.

I found a long ottoman which had a big label “MADE IN THE USA” …… so that was a bonus.

Like to use and buy items made in Canada or the USA.

The ottoman matches my current bedroom colours which was nice.

Unfortunately it is taking Mr. Alvin some time to get used to it.

He did use the ottoman twice, but this morning after jumping up onto the bed using it, he jumped over it coming off the bed.

Oh my Mr. Alvin ….. hopefully he will warm up to the new piece of furniture which was bought just for him ….

Well time to go and have a late breakfast ….

Mr. Alvin and I thoroughly enjoyed the time with our family.

Mr son-in-law is healing nicely from his fall down the stairs ( remember do not text and go down stairs).

I had the best five days off (including this weekend) from work.

WE are going to enjoy this last day before back to the regular routine.

Have a happy Sunday.

Perfect day for walking …. not warm.

It is windy though.

Special Hello to: my friends all over the planet ….. hi everyone.

Always, Carol and Alvin

P.S. I started a new necklace …… lots of small seed beads so it is going to take a while to complete.  Am excited.

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 14th day of May, 2015.

Well the sun is coming up ….. still a bit on the cool side in the mornings.

I still am wearing a jacket for my walk to the bus stop.

Maybe in a week or so ….. a sweater will do.

This morning I went to retrieve a voicemail message on my home telephone.

The old fashion touch tone portable phone …. I do not have a cell phone yet.

There is static on the other end.

Guess time for new phones.

They sure do not make things like they used to ….. everything is disposable.

Why oh why.

I do know the answer, but really I would love for manufacturers to have love for their products and make with integrity and quality.

It is so disappointing when items do not last.

I remember a deep freezer that my grandparents had on the farm.

It was there when I was a child, and it was moved from the farm to town.

I figured why it was about 30 or so years old.

Stoves and fridges used to last for 25 years or so.

One would tire of them long before they broke down and then most times they could be repaired.

Can you imagine house hold appliances and gadgets lasting that long?

Or at least make things to be repaired and not throw away.

Okay, I have had my little “rant” for the day.

Just disappointed …. I am not mad or sad …. just disappointed.

Well almost time to get back downstairs, grab my lunch and jacket (will need shoes, too) and snuggle with Mr. Alvin for a few minutes before heading off to work.

YAY, tomorrow is my day off and I am so excited.

Have a great great day everyone.

Special Hello to: all those people who take the time to read my blog, I so appreciate it.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 21st day of September, 2014.

It is a bright sunny warm day here in Edmonton.

My neighbour is having a “front lawn” sale so my daughter and I checked it out.

Picked up a few things ….

Did not get carried away ….

Only items I knew that I would use ……

After giving and selling a ton of things this summer, the last thing that I want to do is get a house full of items that I do not need.

It is so easy to pick up things when on sale or at garage sales because of the pricing.

But really ……

ONLY GET WHAT YOU REALLY NEED.

That is my motto.

We, North Americans are notorious for accumulating material things.

I think we should start a trend and all downsize.

My neighbour also told me of a friend of hers that was doing a 21 day cleanse.

It was not the cleanse for your body but for your soul.

Starting on Day one you give away one item until you are up to 21 items per day.

What a great idea.

Wished that I would have thought of that…..

I think that for every item other than food that you bring into the house you must give away an item.

That way you never get overloaded with things.

Well almost time to leave for work ….. have to go to the mall early as we need to pick up a few things and I am on the hunt for a good pair of winter boots.

The kind that actually keep your feet and legs warm……

Something that has good grip on the ice and snow.

Wish me luck.

Happy Fall to You.

Special Hello to: all those people who are “cleansing your soul” …… you will feel better as you clean it ……

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 10th day of July, 2014.

What a gorgeous morning ….. it was raining when Alvin and I first woke up and now the sun is shining and there is a nice cool breeze.

Perfect morning.

I love our “new bedroom” mainly because Alvin enjoys just sitting on the bed looking out of the window whenever we are in this room.

He has a whole new world to watch out the back of the house and he loves it.

He doesn’t miss a beat.

Checking out the birds and anything else that moves.

My little “honey bunny.”

I sure do love him.

He is such great company and has such a great personality.

My little social butterfly.

That is always apparent every time we go for a walk or whenever we have company.

He has a loving heart for sure.

Well here it is Thursday and payday which is awesome.

Tonight I will be putting up the tables for the garage sale on Saturday.

Taking out the last items from the house.

I am so excited to just get rid of stuff and have only my Christmas decorations, and a few pieces of memorabilia in the house.

We always seem to have so much stuff and this is the time to downsize as the kids are about to move in.

Well time to go to work.

I hope that you have an awesome day.

Remember to smile and breathe (I forgot that a couple of times yesterday).

Remember you receive what you give.

Special Hello to: all the lovers of life ….. you rock.

Always, Carol

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 3rd day of June, 2014.

As I sit at the computer and type these words I am feeling pure joy.

I am so blessed to live in this beautiful house.

To have in my possession items that bring back memories of days gone by when evoked by thoughts and feelings or even a glance.

I am surrounded by the best people of the planet …. my family and friends.

I live with me Alvin, my buddy ….

It is just a few weeks away until it is officially summer but I think it is close enough to celebrate.

The temperatures are warmer, the sun rises earlier and stays up later.

We had sun showers yesterday on the way home from work.

My son-in-law opened the cover on the sun roof in the car so we could see the rain as it hit the glass ….. very pretty.

I just have so much to be thankful for and to feel really blessed with in this sometimes very crazy life of mine.

I work at two very different places that cause me to use different skills …. if you will.

So all in all ….. we are great in this household.

I hope that you take a few moments this Tuesday to feel just how blessed you are …. always concentrate on the good stuff.

Take Care.

Special Hello to: my sister ……. yes we are SKYPING this weekend for sure……

Always, Carol and Alvin
