2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you doing this Monday morning? Well my four days off is over and back to work. We were in bed a bit later than normal but not by much. Mr. Alvin slept until 5:22 a.m. – so happy. Then we retreated to the sofa until 6:45 a.m. (cause the Momma just had to reset the alarm twice, lol). I know, I know, we should have got up and gone for a walk. The sun was shining and it was so nice out. Only 17 degrees at this time, 17 degrees celsius that is. A few clouds have rolled in at this time and there is a forecast for rain, we badly need some moisture so it sure would be most welcome. We can now get back to our regular schedule …. walk at noon and after work although I must admit that I did love walking early in the morning and perhaps as this is summer and you never know where the day will take us that we should just get up that bit earlier and head out. We will aim for that tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a good rain shower this morning. Crops and gardens and trees sure need a drink. I have been watering my flowers so they are doing well. Our front lawn remains green due to not been cut (does help by not keeping it too short).

Well we are now almost one week into July already. I always think how funny it is that it was June 30th last Wednesday which now seems like an eternity ago and now it is July 5th. WOW. Time. It is always the same but somehow seems to be passing at lightning speed. But it goes at the same pace as it always has – no different than from I was at age 5. Well I guess that is not quite true as there is that world clock or something that we can a second every once in awhile. I cannot remember how that works. I guess it is called “Universal Time” ( I googled it). I quickly read about the Atomic Clock. Interesting. Time is and has always been an interesting subject for each and every one of us living on the planet Earth. There is not one person on this Earth, I believe, that has not thought about time at some point in their lives. Likely for various reasons but still pondered. I think it is one subject that is common to us all. I think about time. So does my friend living in Sweden as does Queen Elizabeth as does someone living on the plains of Africa. We all do. That is being human. It draws us together and keeps us apart. Okay, how in the world did I get thinking about time. Anyway, see what I mean? Time, time, time.

Well it is time, lol. Time for me to sign off and head on downstairs and put on that coffee to perk. Place Alvin’s doggie bed in the kitchen so he is next to me and turn on some music. Then turn on the computer and prepare for the day.

I hope that you have an awesome Monday. Go for a walk when you have “time.” Be kind to yourself and to all others. Happy Monday.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, understanding, love and gratitude.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello, it is a gorgeous morning here in Edmonton.

Looks like we are now having more summerlike temperatures.

Will be a hot one today.

Alvin and I thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday.

We had the best weekend.

Yesterday we started the day off with a 30 minute walk.

Followed by breakfast and coffee.

Humphrey came to visit.

The photos below will describe what the rest of our day was like.

My office.  Now just to hang up the bulletin boards that my daughter made for me a few Christmases ago and reorganize the desk drawers and closet.

Each genre of book has a special place.

YAY.

Humphrey was outside and Alvin had just come into the house.

I didn’t see Humphrey at first and then noticed him on the grass, which was odd.

I ran over to see that he had a dragonfly in his paws.

I quickly retrieved the poor little creature from the paws of soon to be not a good ending and he/she was alive.

Me and the dragonfly went to the front of the house where I placed him on the fern plant.

He was alive.

I even put some water on the fern close to him.

He was still there some time later.

I am afraid to look now.

What a glorious creature.

My hands sure look mighty dry.

Time for lotion.

JENGA with me, myself and I.

I WON.

Well time to leave.

Wishing you a day filled with so much KINDNESS and RESPECT.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 17th day of June, 2018.

Happy Father’s Day to all the DADS out there.

It does not matter if you are a biological father, a father by marriage or by adoption or a Dad to fur babies.

Every DAD is important.

Happy Father’s Day to all the FATHERS in my life.

Thank you.

Well this was an unusual morning.

We stayed up and watched a movie, the new TOMB RAIDER, Lara Croft one after my family went home.

We had a great visit and supper together.

So much laughter.

This was a company weekend and we both it enjoyed all of our company.

So this morning we were up at 5:30 or Mr. Alvin wanted me to get up.

We got up and he had breakfast and went outside.

Back to the sofa and then it was almost 9:00 when we got up.

Figured would eat first and then go for a walk as it looks like a hot one on the way.

We left home about 9:30 and got home about 11:10 a.m.

Had a few stops for visits along the way with the last one being with our friends at the corner.

Alvin enjoyed running and sniffing in their back yard while we sat and visited on the swing.

He laid and rolled in the grass, so cute.

He loves their back yard and so do I.

Looks like a hot week ahead.

No complaints as our summers are so short.

We had a nice morning no rushing.

Just having coffee now which is late but that is okay.

ON our walk we saw the geese down by the water by the trees.

Did not see the goslings.

Disappointed.

Well time to get some things done and to enjoy a CUP OF COFFEE.

I love that first cup of coffee.

I hope that you are enjoying your Sunday with your family and friends.

Maybe you are looking forward to a quiet one and that is okay, too.

OR perhaps you are working away from home as is my nephew.

Have a safe and wonderful day.

Looks like this is going to be great summer.

I hear that company is company is coming to our house at the end of July.

My daughter and I are taking a road trip in August.

Just gets better and better.

Happy Sunday and Happy Father’s Day.

Special Hello to: all the FATHERS out there …..

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 31st day of July, 2017.

Cannot believe today is the last day of July, 2017.

We are seven months into this year.

I am almost at the end of my Countdown: 60 days to 60 which has been quite the experience.

In between the heat wave, we are preparing for company.

My sister arrives on Friday …… OMG ….. so excited.

Thankfully the temperature is supposed to be low twenties for the next couple of days.

Grateful for that ….

Now just to get most things caught up at work before leaving for two weeks vacation, wish me luck.

Okay …. short today.

Gotta run.

Have an awesome Monday and enjoy this day.

Special Hello to:  Friends and Family.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Love my red lilies and now there are yellow ones starting to bloom.

So many colours and I am grateful to have red and yellow.

What a gorgeous pop of colour in my front flower bed.

Happy Monday ……

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 25th day of July, 2016.

Last week of the month.

It has been a great month.

We had company from afar.

The weather was nice.

Appreciated the rain.

Lots of beautiful walks with Alvin.

Shared some cold tea beverages with some friends.

Read some great blogs.

Learned some things.

Did some purging.

Held a couple of garage sales.

Looking forward to the first two weeks in August as I am on vacation.

First time in five years that I have take two weeks back to back.

I am staying at home with Alvin although we may do a day trip.

We shall see.

Just looking forward to being home and doing odds and ends.

Here we are almost time to leave for the bus and work.

Those two day weekends just zip by but I do seem to remember that I had most of Friday off …..

Maybe it is the opposite way round more time off the faster it goes???

Well I am just babbling, clearly.

Please giggle here …… thank you.

The sun is clearing out the morning clouds.

There is a slight breeze.

Quick story ….. Alvin was on the deck this morning for a few minutes just before we come upstairs for me to get ready.

There must have been a magpie or crow circling above where I could not see as he was jumping up and barking.

After a couple of minutes I went out and lured him back into the house with the promise of a small treat.

It did not work right away but in the end his stomach always caves and he came with me.

I did hear a magpie squawk at the side of the house.

Funny guy.

You can always get him to do something if you feed him.

He likes to eat.

Not “unlike” his Momma….

Well I had better go.

Have an awesome Monday.

Special Hello to: my sister, I hope that you had a great weekend.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 30th and last day of June, 2016.

The end of the first half of 2016.

Where did it go?

Did you accomplish what you set out to do?

Did you set goals?

Did you just enjoy the first six months and not worry about goals and such?

We all do things differently.

You might set short term goals of things to do in a short period of time.

No matter what course of action or inaction might have been we are heading into July.

I usually do small chunks of goals and mainly they revolve around finances.

I guess that might be par for the course.

In this economy or any economy finances are important.

Some months are easier than others for sure.

That can be held true for most of us these days.

But at the end of it all it has been a great first half of 2016.

We did suffer a loss in our family and some near misses.

But we know that life goes on and you must, too.

I am looking forward to July, August, September, October, November and DECEMBER.

We are fast approaching my favourite part of the year.

Any clues there ……

Well I decided as I just could not haul my “fanny farkle” off the sofa this morning after firstly rising with Alvin at 4:30 a.m. that I would just take the later bus.

I still arrive at work on time just not ultra early but I am okay with it for today.

Next week will be off to a fresh start.

Hard to change your schedule overnight ….. it is.

Well tomorrow we celebrate CANADA DAY, the 1st day of July.

There will be fireworks for sure.

Alvin and I will enjoy the day together.

On this beautiful (already 18 degress celsius) morning ….. I am so happy.

Have a great Thursday wherever you are and whatever you are doing …. just be joyful.

Feeling badly really does not help ….. I understand…..totally.

Special Hello:  to my friend “V” who might be coming for a visit ….. sure hope so.

Always, Carol and Alvin

P.S.  my “leader” for the Heart & Stroke Campaign picked up my packets last night.  I am proud to say I collected $85.00.  Pretty good for this economy.

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 29th day of July, 2015.

Third last day of July, 2015 ….. so excited for August.

The sun is shining so brightly ….. there is a breeze ….. it is wonderful.

I am so grateful to be here now.

I am in the perfect place at the perfect time.

Yesterday while I was at work one of my friends who was on her last day of vacation came to the house.

She gave Alvin a treat …. let him outside ….. then took him for a nice long walk.

We are so blessed to have “S” as our friend and neighbour.

We are surrounded by great people and I am eternally grateful.

Well it is almost time to get downstairs and grab my lunch and umbrella (just in case) and head to the bus.

I treasure these mornings as they are perfect weather wise.

The roses that line the walk way are perfection and the fragrance should be bottled.

Oh what a lucky lady / woman I am.

Only two more sleeps till the big SIBLING weekend ….

I wish you so much joy this day.

May your day be filled with laughter.

May your day be filled with love.

May you have the perfect day.

Special Hello to: all the siblings out there ….. get together ….. you are special to each other.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 30th and second last day of July, 2014.

Wow, what a month July has been.

Some rain storms, hot weather, kids moved in, cleaning their house, and I hit 500 followers on my blog.

What a month.

What a great month!

Well tonight we should finish up at the house and the new owners move in on Friday.

My kids lived in their house for seven years.

Moved in July 2007 and moved out July 2014.

Lucky 7’s.

After tonight we will start to get into a regular routine.

The puppies will be happy about that …..

The sky seemed to be overcast earlier and I am quite certain that we saw some lightning flash in the sky during the night.

Alvin woke up and was up at the window barking at something in my neighbour’s yard.

Not sure if a cat got in there or not ….

Well almost time to go to work.

Another day another $1.00 …. isn’t that how the saying goes.

But thank goodness it is more than that…

I seem to use the word t-h-a-t several times in this blog ….. or maybe I use it a lot.

Celebrate being alive on this Wednesday.

Be grateful for all that you have and all that you are …..

May grace and kindness guide you.

I love that Alvin lays outside our room as I type this in his “guard” protector mode.

Or at least it looks that way.

Special Hello to: you all ……. everyone on the planet.

Always, Carol and Alvin
