Good Morning All! How are you today? We are great . Bed about 10 pm last night and up at 430 this morning and then another hour and a bit before getting up. So grateful for a good night sleep. I believe that draping him with a wet towel did the trick. He slept well.

We are outside. I put the gate up and watered my flowers and then brought out my coffee, his water and my phone. Then I grabbed the boy and brought him out and placed him on the love seat.
We had just got settled and I decided to start my writing this post when the little bugger jumped with the grace of a gazelle onto the wooden deck with me in hot pursuit and yelling at same time. Happy he was to have made a great escape. He made it to the edge of the deck and was preparing to jump onto the grass when I said stop, he turned and looked at me which was all the time I needed to latch onto him preventing a second jump. I almost had a heart attack. He made no sound of distress. Clearly he was trying to see his friends Humphrey and Bogart who were out in their backyard. Having a bad momma moment. Guess he has been watching too much of the Olympics.

This morning

Well the photo clearly shows that the boy desperately needs a haircut and bath. Photo taken after the jump. It only takes a second. I guess this means he is feeling better as he wants to do things. No longer satisfied to sit and watch or nap. I will have to ensure there is no way for him to jump off of or onto anything.

Only a few more sleeps until the wretched staples come out of his leg. It will mean a bit more freedom for us. We will then begin to take the required walks on the front sidewalk instead of in the backyard. I can hardly wait although part of me does not want to wish my remaining vacation days away. Not much of a vacation as I see friends posting photos from their vacations. I am okay vacationing at home but definitely would have been better had we been able to walk and get out and do things.

Right now the sky is partially filled with smoke keeping the heat from coming through with the bright results of the sun. But eventually it will come through and the temperatures will soar but for now I was happy to have a light jacket on while outside. The fans are working overtime keeping the main floor cool along with the ventilation system.

Last night I had a great chat with my sister. Life can get in the way and sometimes we don’t make the time and we should. I haven’t laughed that hard for a long time. My sister knows how to reach my funny bone.

I was happy that Andre De Grasse got the bronze medal in the Men’s 100 metre. He is quite the young man and made his country proud. Well done. I enjoyed watching him race and listening to him speak, he is a wonderful young person.

Well time to get this day going. I will be happy when it is not necessary to have fans running all the time. The noise is sometimes annoying and yet so necessary. I wonder how many fans are out there that are more quiet?

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, understanding, love and gratitude.

Always, Carol&Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 23rd day of March, 2017.

So grateful that last night the temperature was perfect, no wind and we had the best walk in a long time.

Yes, spring is here.

Alvin was loving the time outside.

I noticed that instead of jumping over some puddles he ran right through the puddles with his head held high.

It was a deliberate action.

He was telling me that the towel in his basket at the front entrance is there for a reason and will be used tonight.

I figured what the hay.

He reminded me of a small boy standing in the mud puddles and jumping up and down.

We did enjoy our walk.

I am so happy for us that the weather is changing and there will be no ice to keep us from walking.

NOTE to ALL:  if you have a dog or a small child always keep a towel at each entrance, just in case.

Mud puddles are meant to be enjoyed.

I could/should take a lesson from Mr. Alvin ……

Guess I could use some rubber boots …

Well here we are once again ….. time to don the outerwear and hit the trail for the bus.

I am so grateful that most of the ice has melted making my walk to the bus so much more enjoyable.

HAPPY Thursday to YOU ALL.

Special Hello to: my friends in Regina …… each and every one.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 11th day of September, 2015.

Still getting used to it being dark but soon it will be light.

Oh, Mr. Alvin just let out a huge sigh.

I wished that I could spend my days at home with him.

We would take long walks like we used to …. go exploring.

We would snuggle more….

We would just be.

We do the best that we can for now.

Ever opportunity for a belly rub or to snuggle.

The one thing that I could do more is “play” …. throw the ball.

We do have one game that he loves …

Out on the deck.

I pretend to be a “monster” for lack of a better word … only by raising my hands above my head and taking a wider stance with my feet placement and growling.

He then takes his nose down posture a little bark ….. bit of a jump in the air and off he runs.

Up and down the stairs and across the deck.

He is so cute to watch.

It is my favourite time with him other than when we are snuggled at night time.

On the deck he runs and that little hop jump thing that he does …. honestly I laugh it is so darn cute.

Well I opted to stay on the sofa until 5:50 a.m. this morning which gave me 50 minutes to: write in my gratitude journal, make and eat breakfast, makeup and dressed, and my blog ……

YAY …. I did it.

Well time to put in one last day at the office before the weekend.

It is a great day.

I am so grateful for everyone and everything in my life.

For every door that is opened and every one that is closed.

For every giggle and every tear.

For every bit of food and for every meal.

For living in a country that is peaceful.

For my life …. it is a great one ….

Well time to run to catch the bus and let Mr. Alvin out one last time.

Have an awesome Friday.

Remember everything that happens is an opportunity to do better.

That is what I think and work on doing.

Someone once said if you say “work on” instead of “try” you will do it.

Special Hello to: my sister “C” …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 6th day of July, 2015.

It is bright and sunny with a very slight breeze here in Edmonton.

By the end of the day yesterday it was shorts weather once again.

We had a lovely Sunday me and Mr. Alvin.

Well Mr. Alvin is still getting used to his new “stool” (ottoman) for the bed.

I thought because it was longer and a bit wider than everything else we have tried that he would like it.

Not sure at this point.

He will jump onto the bed using it as a halfway jumping point but hesitates coming down.

He looks as though he is studying it carefully ….. then jumps avoiding the ottoman landing on the rug.

I have a narrow piece of carpet that is placed carefully under the ottoman to give it extra grip.

Hopefully he will get the hang of it and be comfortable using it.

He has such short little legs, and he is now middle age so I want him to be careful.

Man, can he jump.

For a little guy he has a high long jump.

Oh dear, me Alvin….. what shall we do……

I just worry about him …….

Well back to work after having a few days off followed by the weekend …. it was a glorious five days.

I sure do love being at home…..

Well here it is almost time to leave for work ….. picked up my bus pass yesterday so that is good.

Wishing you a Happy ….. Happy Monday.

Special Hello to: my daughter …. thank you for a great Saturday …… it was so much fun…..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to the first day of October, 2013.

Since my brother and sister were here for a visit on the 19th of September there has been a rogue fly buzzing around our house.

Both Alvin and I have tried to capture it but to no avail.

Now Alvin has a different approach than me.

It has been so funny to watch him in action.

He can spot the fly anywhere.

Whenever it is in close proximity to his station he leaps into action.

I mean literally into action.

He can jump several feet into the air.

In fact, I so wished that I could foresee this so that I could take a quick video.

But most times I miss the whole scene only to hear the snapping close of Alvin’s jaws.

It has been several days in fact over one week since this “rogue” fly has entered our domain.

It seems to disappear for hours on end, and then appear at the most inopportune times.

But for the fly it is most likely “perfect timing.”

I only wished for it to leave our home.

I mean it no harm unfortunately I cannot speak for Mr. Alvin ……

But I wished it would join his “fly family” outdoors.

So this story does not have an ending as yet but hopefully soon.

I must practice my “shoo fly” routine but have to be careful holding the door open.

Some of his family might get ideas and come for a visit.

That would not be good.

Special Hello to vistors …… may you always know when it is time to leave ….

Always, Carol and Alvin
