Last Half 2022 – September

Good Morning ALL! Thank goodness the smoke has dissipated and the sky was clear a few minutes ago. There are clouds in the sky so perhaps some rain is on the way. I sure hope that they are able to put out the fires in Saskatchewan. I am thinking of all the people, domestic and wildlife that are affected by the wildfires. Always a loss of life and is incredibly sad. We were up about 2:00 a.m. and then hit the sofa until 6:00 (up and Alvin had his last transitional meal with mix of his regular food and bland diet). He has not pooped since yesterday so perhaps everything is coming together. Gross thoughts but it is the truth. An important truth. My truth, my life.

We were up to stay up just after 8:00 a.m. as I thought there is no rush, resting is good. After that we spent a few minutes outside. Bogart and Humphrey were in the backyard, Alvin wanted to be outside sniffing and looking through the fence at them. I was following Mr. Alvin around the backyard waiting for him to poop when I noticed that Bogart, like an athlete in his prime, had jumped onto the top of the fence and was looking down upon us. I called out to this Mom and we had a quick chat.

So today with the cooler temperatures, it is time to get some housework done and some things outside. I will have to check the long range forecast and see when the overnight temperatures begin to dip so that I can bring in some plants. I need to winter my geraniums. Some I think I will put in the basement and others will put in the kitchen. I like the open kitchen window area so I will not fill it up with huge plants that block the light. Look beautiful but darken the kitchen.

I have already cleaned out most of the front flower bed so that is done. The back one can wait until it is almost time for frost and then I can clean it out.

Tomorrow is Mr. Alvin’s ultrasound and that will tell me what our future looks like. I will know what needs to be look for his care and for our future. Scary how one day can possibly change your life. I have ideas but cannot go ahead until I know what his prognosis is, no point in worrying ahead of time. I know that eventually things will change as no one lives forever but I need to figure out with our mandated return to work schedule how to care for him if I am back to work. I am grateful that I was able to spend everyday with him for the last 2.5 years and that would not have happened without COVID. Things may have been a whole lot different. At the end of it all, I have been blessed, we have been blessed. Just more changes to figure out a new plan A, likely a plan B and possibly even a plan C. It will be okay, I have faith and I will remain positive.

So time to head out for a walk. It may rain by the look of the sky. The windows are open to let in the fresh cool air. I had closed them all last night as it was getting so smoky in the house.

Head out and check out the park. Alvin will again sniff out each blade of grass and I will admire the trees, the flowers in the yards that back onto the park, the water that is flowing in the ponds and the sky and life.

Have a wonderful Monday. Today is Labour Day. We are grateful.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and COFFEE.

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. if you have multiple emails and did have old emails – you should read them. I have found some treasures that make me realize how much my life has changed and not changed over the years.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 4th day of September, 2017.

Labour Day …..

The sun is shining brightly in a so blue almost white sky.

There is a coolness to the air and it is the perfect time for me to get out and do my neighbourhood trash pickup.

In fact, before breakfast of pancakes decided better to work up an appetite.

Strange thing I noticed later in the evening and this morning – Mr. Alvin is limping.

Front paw.

He has not cried out nor does he appear to be in pain.

I carried him up the stairs but forgot when we went down earlier.

Will keep an eye on the boy.

Well this is going to be short as I want to get out into the neighbourhood and the trash done early.

Have an awesome Monday.

Special Hello to: all those people who volunteer their time and energy to help out in their neighbourhoods.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 2nd day of September, 2017.

The sun is shining now as the sky begins to clear.

I was a “bad” girl and slept until just a few minutes ago which was close to 10:00 a.m.

Please bear in mind that I was up with Mr. Alvin at 4:30 a.m. so that he would eat and go outside.

Followed by 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. – so not a straight through sleep.

Sure nice to just be able to get up whenever …..

Now time to have a relaxing breakfast and enjoy a couple of cups of coffee before getting my chores done around the house.

I have been faithfully watering my friend’s flowers every night.

Alvin loves playing in her yard.

Last night another friend and her two small dogs joined us …. we were going to go on a walk together and I thought they could play in the yard while I watered the flowers.

Both of my friend’s dogs have gone through recent trauma so to be off leash with Alvin was a good thing.

On leash when we begin our walks they growl, lunge and snap at Alvin, who takes a step back and stays out of reach.

They are both chihuahuas.

So we had fun.

Today will be laundry, a few things around the house and outside as the forecast is for rain tomorrow.

On Monday in the earlier morning I am going to go and do a garbage/trash pickup in the neighbourhood in honour of LABOUR DAY.

So many people do not have the luxury of being at home on this day.

Well time to get going here.

Have an awesome Saturday.

Take the time on this long weekend to lend a hand to a senior, to someone in need or perhaps pick up the trash in your neighbourhood.

There is always someone or something that can be done.

Share your time.

Happy Saturday.

Special Hello to: my sister and brothers ….. thank you for a great time this summer.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 1st day of September, 2015.

WOW, it is September ….. yikes.

How many days until Christmas?

I guess first I had better look at Thanksgiving and Halloween and Remembrance Day.

All special days in their own right.

How is it that Christmas shines over all of the rest?

Perhaps maybe because of all the lights!

Okay, being silly here …..

Crazy, being funny at 6:30 in the morning.

I guess the “Matcha” must be working (green tea powder).

I don’t think that it makes one funny ….. just feeling better.

Well it is beginning to lighten outside.

Argh …. it is dark now when we get up in the morning.

The sun rises about 7:00 a.m.

Do you have plans for September?

Oh, and how could I possibly forget this weekend.

It is Labour Day.

One of my dear and long-time friends from Regina is coming to visit this weekend.

I am so excited …. can barely sleep or think.

I guess that is why I have not been sleeping proper.

It is always great when I have a chance to visit friends.

The years pass by and sometimes it can be a few in between visits.

Thank goodness for technology other than the telephone.

We can email and SKYPE.

Wishing you the best first day of September.

My favourite season is officially only a few weeks away.

I love everything about fall /autumn (depending on where you live).

The colours / the temperatures / the air / the scents.

Just the perfect time of year.

Well almost time to hit the road to work once again.

I hope that this day brings you closer to realizing your dreams.

Happy Tuesday.

Special Hello to: all those folks out there who love the fall.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 1st day of September, 2014 and Labour Day.

It is quiet here in the house as Elton and Penny remain on the sofa while Alvin joined me upstairs to get dressed and to write my blog.

I had planned to have a quiet day but alas once I started writing out a TO DO LIST things have changed.

I guess we can always find things to do ….

Who knows perhaps that will change, too.

Maybe I will just do the necessary things like take the puppies for a walk.

We went after work last night …. two before supper and one afterwards.

I took them separately and that worked out much better.

They enjoyed the walk and so did I.

The most well behaved one was Miss Penny …. she gets the gold star (if I was handing them out).

It was enjoyable.

The sky is overcast and it is breezy.

Yesterday was sunny and breezy.

When the sun was out it was warm but when those clouds roll in it was cool.

Funny how quickly things change as soon as we hit August and now September.

This is my favourite time of year.

It won’t be long and the leaves will begin to turn colour.

The days are already much shorter.

I love the smell of the air …. that crispness ….

Warm but that cool thread to the air.

ODE TO FALL …..

So on this Monday I hope that you are well.

Perhaps spending the day with your loved ones.

Maybe you are getting the kids ready to go back to school or maybe you are getting ready to go back to school.

Maybe you are just getting home from being on vacation.

Maybe you are home just doing some chores around the house.

Take care.

Special Hello to: my friend back in Regina “V” who nominated me on FB to take the Grateful Challenge.

( I do write in my journal every single day …. minimum of ten things that I am grateful for )

I think it is a good practice.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Today is Monday, September 4th, 2011 – Labour/Labor Day.

I want to personally thank and am grateful for all those labourers who have gone before us ….. literally paving the way.

This is for us all….. we  make a difference.

We all labour/labor …… in some way, shape or form….

Have a great day

Always, Carol
