2021

Good Morning ALL. How are you doing today? It is Thursday, January 21, 2021. I almost wrote 2025. Don’t want to rush the years. What a day yesterday. The winds howled pretty much most of the day and with the icy sidewalks we decided to stay close to home and did not go for our usual lunchtime walk. Fingers crossed today will be better. I don’t hear the wind at this time so perhaps we shall be able to go at noon.

What a Wednesday, January 20, 2021! The Inauguration of the United States 46th President and I believe 48th Vice-President. Now we have President Biden and Vice-President Harris in the White House. I think that everyone or mostly everyone all over the world was waiting and watching on pins and needles during the actual inauguration. After Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were sworn in, there was a worldly collective sigh of relief. No matter who or where you are, we all are well aware the state of affairs in the United States. I will admit that I was teary eyed during the ceremony and very relieved when everything was official. A very historic day for the United States in many ways. Congratulations Vice-President Harris. There was even a fun spot in the day, when Al Roker from the Today show called the President over during the parade. President Biden ran over, said hello, fist bumped and then was back to the parade with his family. I would have like to have watched the evening – virtual “gala” but I had to get to bed so I could get up this morning for work. I did record the event and will watch today. Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Garth Brooks all gave very special performances but I think that the young poet laureate Amanda Gorman stole the show at the inauguration. A busy day for all. I guess there will be no rest for the new President and Vice-President.

Well Mr. Alvin is calling me and he is the boss in this house. Or so he thinks.

I wish you all a great Thursday. May your day be filled with much love, laughter and abundance. Continuing to live our lives with kindness, respect and compassion for ALL.

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. this Sunday is the big 12th birthday party for Mr. Alvin. I cannot wait.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 25th day of February, 2019.

Well appears that we are in for another cold spell.

With one day this week possibly in the single digits.

But time will tell.

In the meantime dress in layers, wear your toque or hat, scarf, winter coat (if you don’t have a heavy one wear sweater underneath), mitts (warmer than gloves) and BOOTS.

Always keep your heat, feet and hands warm covered when outside.

Watch your children and your pets.

Keep them protected.

Well the OSCARS, the 91st Academy Awards were on last night.

There were definitely some surprises but then again I am used to seeing that….

Green Book won for Best Picture.  My favourite was BLACK PANTHER.

Black Panther won for Best Costuming and Best Production Design (Doing the Happy Dance).

Roma won for Best Foreign Film.  I did not have a favourite in the category as usually I have not seen any of these films.  But happy they won.

BlacKkKlansman won for Best Adapted Screenplay.  Spike Lee’s first Oscar.  So well deserved.

Bohemian Rhapsody won for Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing.

Original Song – SHALLOW – Lady Gaga (very happy)

  • BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR – Mahershala Ali in “Green Book”
  • BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS – Regina King in “If Beale Street Could Talk”
  • BEST ACTOR in LEADING ROLE – Rami Malek in “Bohemian Rhapsody”
  • BEST ACTRESS in LEADING ROLE – Olivia Colman in “The Favourite”

There were so many well deserving movies and people and I was pleased to see that a wide diversity of winners.

Really enjoyed all of the original songs performances.

Well done.

Most especially enjoyed Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s performance of SHALLOW.

Even the Devine Miss M ….. well done.

Not just one sweeping each category.

I was a bit disappointed that some of my favs did not win but the winners were well deserving.

I will admit that I only saw BLACK PANTHER and saw it many times.

Definitely going to watch some of the others.

Footnote:  they went less than 30 minutes over, not bad.  I will admit that as soon as they announced BEST PICTURE, I went to bed.

But that was the last award for the night and that was about 9:10 p.m. – so likely not much after that but the credits.

Well looks like almost time to go and pick up the poop, yup one of my morning chores.

Somedays wished that Alvin could use the indoor toilet.

OH well, hope this poop story brought a smile to your face.

Thankfully it is winter and the poop freezes almost as soon as it touches the ground.

Making it easy to scoop up.

Another good use for my “ice pick shovel thingy.”

Whoops gotta go.

Have a wonderful day.

Keep warm and save.

Smile as often as you can.

Be kind to yourself and to others.

Special Hello to: all those who love movies.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 11th day of February 2019.

Well back to work.

Have to leave Mr. Alvin alone now after four days at home with him.

I always love our time together.

The weather remains cold but now it is snowing.

I would like to make a correction to the name of one of the movies that I noted on my post yesterday.

It was The Incredibles 2 not The Invincibles 2.

When I realized that I had posted the wrong name, I felt very silly.

Not the end of the world, of course.

But still felt silly.

Correction done.

How are you doing today?

Feeling great and full of energy.

Ready to take on your world.

Ready to be the best YOU ever!

I hope that you have the most awesome Monday in recorded history.

Did you watch the Grammys last night?

I think that Alicia Keys did great.

Man, can she play the piano and sing!

Love, loved, loved Dolly Parton.

Great singer and song writer.

Probably one of the best song writers ever.

She has written so many of the greatest songs recorded.

Diana Ross, 75, are you kidding me?

She looks incredible …. and that dress.

Love her music.

MOTOWN, some of the best music ever.

I really enjoyed Lady Gaga singing Shallow from A Star is Born.

Can you imagine if Bradley Cooper was singing with her?

Off the charts, for sure.

I only watch until I heard all of the above so that was just after 8:30 p.m., I think.

Well “here we go again.”

I have had that song in my head and singing all morning.

Not sure if Alvin really appreciates my gift??? or not???

Wishing you a fantastic Monday filled with kindness, respect and always laughter.

We have to have laughter.

Always, a giggle or three.

Special Hello to: My Daughter, My Sister and My Dear Friend – thank you ladies, you rock.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 14th day of June, 2017.

Overcast now and was raining earlier.

I was “putting on the face” a few minutes ago and hear these voices and then they broke into song.

I realized that it was Sir Elton John and James Corden.

You see last night before I went to bed I had been watching a couple of the Karaoke Carpool with James Corden and his Special Guests.

I always turn on the computer before I start getting ready so that I can just sit down and write my blog without having to wait for the computer to start up.

Anyway nothing like hearing “Your Song” first thing in the morning.

Great way to start the day and I am grateful.

I will say this James Corden is my new favourite guy.

He is funny, smart, can sing, is compassionate and caring.

If you have not watched his Carpool Karaoke Videos – you must.

He has interviewed and sung with some of the greats:  Adele, Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder,Ed Sheeran, Lady GAGA, and the list goes on …….

Anyway it is getting onto time to leave for work.

I was so happy to hear some music before leaving the house as usual it is quiet except for the odd thud as Alvin jumps off the bed onto the rug below or the odd bark …..

Happy Dancing …… I am Happy Dancing.

Have an Awesome Wednesday.

Even though the skies are grey – they are clear to me.

Happy Wednesday.

Special Hello to: my friends back in Regina …… always thank you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Special Hello to:

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 29th day of February, 2016.

WOW …. the last day of February 2016.

Yesterday was the birthday of one of my nephew’s “D” …… not sure how I could have forgotten your birthday but I did.

Happy Birthday ……

Also found out that yesterday is also the birthday of one of my neighbour’s ….. another guy.

Alvin and I were out for a walk in the afternoon and they called us over to their house to chat.

It was then I found out it was his birthday and her birthday is a few days before my daughter’s.

Lots of birthdays.

Well we woke up to a fresh blanket of the white stuff.

Spring is definitely here as we usually get some snow about that time.

Mother Nature likes to keep us guessing.

On the plus side ….. temperatures are going up after today ….. so it will melt quickly.

It was almost gone ….. had more ice left than snow.

We just keep chipping away.

Did anyone watch the OSCARS last night?

I watch until just after Lady Gaga sang one of the nominated songs.

By the way, I will say this again ….. that girl can SING.

This year was one of those years that I did not see many movies ….

I did see “The Martian” and before I went to bed, it had not won one of the big categories.

Kind of disappointing as I did think it was very good.

Too bad about the controversy ……

I will say this.

I go to a  movie or rent a movie for this reason:  IT HAS A GOOD STORY.

It does not matter if Leo, Denzel, George, Halle, Bruce, or Anne had a starring role ……. I go to the movies for the story.

I have not seen every movie that Leo has been nor have I seen every movie Halle has been in either.

In fact most of the movies I see are not the ones that are up for the big awards.

So whether they got the gold statue is mute.

Anyway just my thoughts.

I hope that you have an awesome day.

Special Hello to: all of the actors on the planet Earth ….. great job.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 22nd day of January, 2016.

It is a beautiful glorious morning here in Edmonton.

I turned on some music as I was getting ready and it has made me feel so wide awake and wonderful.

What a great way to start the day with some of your favourite songs playing in the background as you wash your face, comb your hair and slip into your clothes.

I have always loved a little bit of everything ….. a variety of music and artists.

Much the way I have lived my life with variety.

Always good to like a bit of everything.

I am 58 and I love the “boy band” – One Direction ….. most especially the song “The Story of My Life.”

I am 58 and I love “Disturbed’s” version of “The Sound of Silence.”

I am 58 and I love Andy Grammer’s, Honey I’m Good ….. makes me want to dance.

I am 58 and I love Meghan Trainor and John Legend.

I am 58 and I love Elvis and Gordon Lightfoot.

I am 58 and I love Tina Turner and Aerosmith.

I am 58 and I love Bing Crosby and Alicia Keys.

I am 58 and I love Elton John, Johnny Cash, Adele, Celine Dion, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams, Lady Gaga, Pink, Taylor Swift, Neil Diamond, Rufus Wainwright, Kelly Clarkson, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, Ed Sheeran, David Bowie, Van Morrison, Vance Joy, Lorde, Sam Smith, Jordan Smith, Bon Jovi, Cher, Madonna and the list goes on.  I love new and old and everything in between.

Mix it up with your music, with your food, with your life.

Try something new and do not be afraid.

If you love Rock try Country.

If you love Pop try Rap.

If you love Rap try Pop.

If you love Alternative try Gospel.

New is good.

Well it is almost time to put the finishing touches on before heading out the door to work.

Just listening to Hello by Adele ….. who else…. she has the most amazing voice.

Have a great day filled with new things and great adventures.

Happy Friday.

Special Hello to: all my music lovers across the planet ….. you rock.

Always, Carol and Alvin
