It is a NEW YEAR.

Well Wednesday morning already and back to work after my Tuesday vacation day.

It was a great day despite the massive amount of snow that Mother Nature sent our way.

I must have shovelled I don’t know how many pounds of snow throughout the day.

From early morning until nightfall.

On the bright side it was great exercise.

I had taken some photos of the trees covered in snow.

But unfortunately due to technical difficulties this morning I am unable to share them.

Later.

Yesterday I was luckily that one of my friends was not working so I was able to catch a ride to Shoppers Drug mart and Save-On Foods.

I was able to finish all of my shopping.

My friend even drove me home.

She was running errands so it worked out perfectly.

Well here it is almost time to leave the house.

I have to run out and pick up the poop.

Always a good idea to keep it picked up.

I don’t like surprises in the spring.

Although sometimes there is the odd one that was missed.

How did I get talking about poop again.

Not like it is my favourite subject or anything.

Laughing aloud.

I hope that you have an awesome Wednesday.

Overnight it plunged from +2 F to -20 F.

How is that for temperature change?

Take care.

With Kindness and Respect,

I remain,

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 27th day of May, 2018.

Another gorgeous day has begun.

Yesterday with the cool breeze was comfortable and most enjoyable.

We had Master Teddy spend the day with us.

After supper we went for a walk which went well.

Not too much one going one way and the other.

We bumped into one of our neighbours out with her three small sons for a walk.

The family was on their way home as were, we.

They were happy to see PUPPIES so we finished our walks together.

Nice to visit.

The kiddos were so cute.

One of them placed his hands on the sidewalk and bum in the air was trying to race Teddy.

Oh, how we giggled.

Both of us wished that we would have had a camera along.

This family has a doggie named “Miss Daisy” and she had stayed home due to illness.

She is in kidney failure and on medication.

Her Momma asked if we would stop by as she would like to see Alvin.

Daisy and Alvin get along famously.

Alvin is like this social butterfly that everyone just loves.

Miss Daisy was feeling lots better due in part her Momma thought to a change in meds.

Momma is a nurse and has been given her IV fluids which helps keep her hydrated.

Daisy, Alvin and Teddy ran around their front yard and sprinkled in between where the two old boys as the youngest one was in the stroller as he is 1.5 years old.

The boys are 8 and almost 5 years old.

This Mom works as a Nurse at a nearby hospital.

Busy lady.

Daisy is in our thoughts and prayers.

She is 13 years old and we hope that she has many good years left to live.

Her Momma was worried about her and as her Husband is working out of town; she certainly has her hands full.

I volunteered to help out if she needs me.

Any time day or night.

That is what friends and neighbours are for?  Right?

Yesterday was just one of those great days.

Days are always better when surrounded by puppies, a kitty, a gecko and CHILDREN.

I also spent time with Humphrey, the Cat and Cinder, the Gecko.

They are in my care while their Momma is away on vacation.

The right amount of work, fun and relaxation and exercise.

Perfection.

Well almost time to hit the shower as I am invited to a birthday party this morning.

One of our trio of friends is celebrating a birthday (early as it is on Thursday) and the other one is hosting.

So I get to just show up.

We have such a great time.

I picked up a bottle of wine for her and a turtle for her yard.

Not a real turtle, of course.

I love turtles.

Something a bit different.

Looking forward to chatting and laughing.

I hope that you all had the most perfect weekend.

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to:  my sister and all of my girl friends all over the world.

ALWAYS, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 1st day of February, 2016.

Today is the Birthday of one of my dear friends that lives down the street.

Alvin and I want to WISH “S” the very best day.

She is one of these folks that tells it like it is, would give you the shirt off of her back and is never afraid to help.

She is fierce and kind and we love her …. Happy Birthday to Our Friend.

FRIENDS …..

Sometimes you do not realize the depth of a Friendship until it is tested.

Sometimes a Friend is someone you know very well, and sometimes it is someone that you just know.

Sometimes a Friend will listen and other times they will talk, tell you things and give advice and support you.

Sometimes a Friend is just there beside you quietly holding your hand or giving you a hug.

Sometimes a Friend is Family.

Sometimes Family are your Friends.

Sometimes you have more Friends than you realize.

Sometimes you wish for more.

Sometimes you realize that Friends are not just those people that you confide in, that you laugh with, that you cry with … they are the ones that LISTEN when you speak, WEEP when you cry and THINK of you when you are in need.

I do have, and always have had some of the most amazing people on this planet surrounding me.

I realize that without their Friendship I would not be in this place.

I am truly blessed.

Today, tell your Friends how much you appreciate them.

Not just for the things they do for you but for being there in the good times as well as the bad.

For listening and for thinking.

For laughing and for playing.

For crying and for joy.

They are our FRIENDS.

Thank you.

Special Hello to: all my FRIENDS … I love you all.  Thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 15th day of September, 2015.

We are at the halfway point for the month.

It has been kind of a rainy month ….

In fact, it is raining outside as we speak.

It feels like a “Rainy Night in Georgia” …..

Definitely going to be an umbrella day.

I made my lunch so that it will fit in my purse ….. cross body one.

So makes it easier to carry the umbrella ….

Try to think ahead ….

Somedays it works …. ha ha ha ….. that is supposed to be laughing.

The LOL …. seems strange ….

Okay maybe on this Tuesday morning I am feeling a bit tired ….. I guess that rain likely kept me up.

Doesn’t usually but this time it did.

I know I was dreaming but do not remember anything.

Mr. Alvin and RAIN …. not a good mix.

The poor little guy really needed some encouragement to go outside this morning.

I have to try again (for the fourth time) as he was not outside long enough to poop.

Is that too much information?

Oh well, just the truth of the matter.

I do feel bad.

When I first adopted him and for a long time after ….. snowing, blowing, raining or dry I always went out with him.

Carrying an umbrella for us both if necessary ( I have a really big one ).

Now these years later …. his Momma stands in the doorway … sometimes the door is closed .. sometimes not.

This morning perhaps I should grab the umbrella and go out with him.

That being the case … better get going so that I have time to grab my things before leaving to catch the bus.

Thank goodness it is not windy …. so I can carry an umbrella for my walk to the bus.

Long enough to get wet ….

I hope that you have a happy Tuesday.

Surround yourself with love, respect and kindness.

The REST will follow.

Always DREAM …. might as well dream BIG.

Walk toward it …. try something new….. you have to work at it ….

Have a great day.

Special Hello to: my sister “C” ….. hi darling ….. how about SKYPE this weekend?

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 3rd day of March, 2015.

So excited as I get to see my nephew “J” this morning.

I haven’t seen him since Christmas.

He is now awake and has been since he went to the hospital near his hometown.

This morning he is being transferred to one of our best rehab facilities for brain injuries where he will begin his long journey home.

He has to learn how to eat and dress himself; virtually all of the life skills that we take for granted.

His brother assures me that his memory is intact and that he just has to learn how to get the sounds out.

Even when he laughs you cannot hear a sound.

He gets very frustrated.

Anyway I have to get ready for our trip.

This place is about one hour from Edmonton but several hours from his brother and his mom.

It is now light when we leave for work in the morning and I hear that the clocks turn forward on Sunday morning.

YAY …. spring is here.

Well time to go and eat and perhaps have a cup of coffee before my nephew picks me up.

Have a great day.

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday, the 23rd day of September, 2014.

First off, I just want to say that Edmonton had +29 celsius yesterday and I had the air conditioning on for the puppies.

CRAZY …… a/c on and the leaves are turning colours …… seems odd…..

Well last night was the first night of “THE VOICE.”

Just when you think last year had great singers …..

You get blown away all over again.

There is a huge talent pool out there, and so great for them to have a forum such as The Voice.

It is my top show ….

I was wondering how the new “coaches” would do but they fit in as if they have always been on the show.

I always have loved the chemistry between Adam and Blake and nothing has changed.

However, I have added Gwen and Pharrell to on screen chemistry …… she is such a lady and Mr. Williams quite the gentleman.

They rocked the first show.

I was very impressed with them both.

This season could very well be the best one yet.

Definitely something to look forward to and thank goodness for the ability to record ….. just in case …

So on this Tuesday, I hope you are well and ready for another day.

Smile and always put your best foot forward so to speak ….. be happy …. it is the way to go.

When you have a time when things may not be going quite right …. think of something that makes you bend over laughing and makes you feel so good.

I often think of the song “HAPPY” by the new Voice Coach …… love it.

Happy Tuesday.

Special Hello to: my sister …….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Oh, that doggie of mine !!!

Our usual morning routine can begin anywhere between 4:45 and 6:30 a.m.

Just depends on when Mr. Alvin wants to get up and then of course, I follow.

I grab my bunny hug from the back of my bedroom door, and my glass of water from my bedside table,

oh, and quickly don a pair of socks (depending on his mood, he might try, and eat them as I am putting them on).

Make a quick “bathroom” stop before going downstairs.

Oh, don’t feel too sorry for me (with the early hour). (will explain further)

I take him out for his morning bathroom break.

Back into the house, and he has breakfast.

While he is eating (usually takes him several seconds, yes seconds) ….

I move the pillows around on the sofa and spread out the “red” blanket.

Then I get under it and when he is done eating ….. he comes into the living room

and hops up onto the sofa…… he likes to snuggle (at this point).

Sometimes after a few minutes he will get up and go to the green chair.

Then perhaps a bit later he will get up and move to the brown chair, which is the case this morning.

Most mornings, well actually all mornings until today, he lies in one of the two  chairs,  until I get my butt off the sofa.

Usually no later than 8:00 a.m.  (face it I am retired, I have earned the right to sleep in, right??)

So this morning, just a few minutes before 8:00 a.m. – he jumps off the brown chair and up onto the sofa.

Not sure what was going through his mind but he started licking my face.

Well, it tickled to say the least.  I started to laugh.  Within a few seconds, I was up.

As I was folding the blanket and before I could adjust the pillows – the little “bugger” and I use that word with LOVE,

HE LAYS DOWN ON THE PILLOWS (on the ones that I just got up from).

So I went into the kitchen pulled my notebook out of one of the drawers and started to write my “morning pages”.

This is something that I have done for several years.  It was part of a writing course that I took ….. it is a great practice.

Oh, I wished that I could remember the name of the book.  LOL.

Anyway, back to the “boy” er I mean, the dog.  He stayed on the pillows until he heard the fridge door open for the second

time which is the queue  that I am about to eat …… (first time I get water & lemon, second the blueberries to have with oatmeal).

It is so funny how routine oriented dogs are …… sure wished that he would sleep until about 7:00 though.

Perhaps someday I will just stay up ……. well sometimes I do.

Oh, there was just a knock at the door.  Little guy from two doors down.  His name is Kahlia, and he wanted to see if I was done supper.

He is/was bored and I am the friend that he calls upon when his other little friends are busy.  Plus he loves Alvin.

But supper (chili) is simmering – so not good time.  I was to mention that he had been by earlier with Lea from five doors down.

We live in duplexes……. so they live close by.

I hope that you enjoy the stories about Alvin.  He is quite the character.

Until later.

Always, Carol
