Last Half 2022 – September

Good Morning ALL! Another beautiful day on the way. The sky is partially overcast but I am hoping that it remains dry for the day. I am so grateful to my daughter for spending overnight on Friday with me and Alvin. She stayed until about noon on Saturday. I had a list of things that I required an extra set of hands for so she helped me out. We hauled the dresser in from the garage and it is all set up and most of the drawers are filled already. Moved things about. One of my downstairs plants has a new home atop of the dresser. She helped me trim a bit more fur/hair from Mr. Alvin’s front paws. He was squirmy so we did not get much but a bit and that is great. There was an ear cleaning (he sure sat a lot better for her than for me). We moved the heavier plant pots that had been emptied into the garage along with the base of the umbrella stand that she gave me. Well actually the base is sitting on the upper deck drying out from the last rain. I do not want wet sand sitting in the garage. The big thing was TRIMMING THE TRIM. I was amazed that with girl power how much we were able to do. We even brought out the 5 foot step ladder and got some of the higher branches, not the highest ones but enough that I feel better. We were so proud and even had fun doing it. Amanda likes to trim trees, I found out. We also found out that if we both hold onto the tree trimmer together and one pulls the rope it worked a lot better. The tree trimmer is about 8 or so feet long and has a hard core blade system at the end. It is very heavy for one person. She was amazed that I had done it by myself the past years. Well, I always say “you do what needs to be done, one way or the other.” We tossed the branches over the back gate as I needed to borrow my neighbours shorter handle tree trimmer tool to cut up the branches so that they can be taken by our garage people. So it was a great morning.

In the afternoon, I did laundry, some cleaning and later in the afternoon, our friend Pauline stopped by with a plant and some seeds. Sunflower and Brown-Eyed Susan plants. We chatted for a few minutes and then we walked her home where we had a short visit as it was time for her to prepare supper and me to go home and ready mine. I fed Mr. Alvin before she arrived at our house.

So a great day all round. I rewound and watched LIGHTYEAR a few more times and even saw bits that I had missed from Friday night. That was in the afternoon. Just left the movie playing as I did some housework. Last night it was just watching some episodes of YOUNG SHELDON and BIG BANG THEORY. Some I had seen before but I enjoy these two shows so I watched them again.

Our tree is beginning to turn yellow. I noticed there are quite a few trees that are still very green.

The grass is a mix of green and yellow/brown. The north side of the street most of the lawns have gone yellow/brown but on our side, the south side, many remain green.

Well time to go and get dressed for the day. Have some coffee and then go and chop some branches. I have to retrieve the laundry that is drying in the basement and then do a couple of loads of laundry. Have a walk with Mr. Alvin somewhere along the way and then have a quiet one. We might use BOBI the robot vacuum cleaner to clean upstairs. My daughter is lending me BOBI as her floor space is small and she does not use much and my vacuum cleaner, my beautiful ELECTROLUX is not working. I think it is the sensor according to some troubleshooting research that I did on GOOGLE Search. Perhaps at some point I will find someone who can fix it.

Wishing you a great day.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilities with COFFEE.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 20th day of November, 2016.

Today marks the first of two Christmas Events that I am a participant.

This Sunday I will be with Steeped Tea at my friend’s house along with a rep from Stella & Dot and one from Scentsy.

This is my first home party multi vendor event.

I am excited to see the other products and excited to show Steeped Tea to everyone attending.

Yesterday it snowed off and on all day but a fine dry snow.

We now have a light blanket covering the ground, rooftops and lawns.

Mr. Alvin is downstairs chewing on one of his treats.

He loves to chew and thankfully it has always been his food and treats.

The sky looks a white grey colour as I look out of my office window.

Just seems like no break from the ground to the sky all one colour.

I guess winter is officially here.

It feels like it now.

We have been so blessed with a warm November.

Well time to go and put the finishing touches on preparation for the Christmas Event.

I hope that you all had an amazing weekend.

My thoughts, and every ounce of positive energy are directed to my grand-puppy Elton.

I hope that he has many many more good days and less bad ones.

Special Hello to:  Elton, who has been one of the loves in my life for the past 12 years.  Thinking of you buddy.  Alvin and I love you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 1st day of November, 2016.

Last night was perfect for the Trick & Treaters.

We had about “98” that I could count … might have missed couple.

Sometimes there would be none and then there would be a gaggle of them.

It is always fun seeing all of the costumes.

Lots of our friends from around the neighbourhood dropped by.

Alvin and I both enjoyed seeing everyone.

He loves seeing all the kids.

Each year he settles down a bit more.

I still put his leash on because I am afraid that he would join them.

We had a few people suggest that I dress him up and we go out.

So I thought that may be a good idea.

I would do things in reverse.

With not being at home and no one to hand out treats – might as well just take a big bag of candy with us and hand it out as we walk around the

neighbourhood from house to house.

We had a good Halloween potluck at work and most everyone participated in the costume contest.

The top three were awesome:  Zombie, Broken China Doll and Three Blind Mice.

Carol’s Creepy Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies were a smash, none leftover.

It was a great Halloween.

Tonight will take down the Halloween decorations and make way for the Christmas stuff.

Oh, overnight we received some snow.

Just hanging onto the lawns, cars and buildings and the sidewalks are wet so likely icy.

Snow boots with grips today are on the menu.

I am going to leave a few minutes early.

Well almost time to leave for work.

I hope that you had a safe, happy Halloween.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Special Hello to:  all my family and friends all over the world.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday, the 4th day of April, 2013.

Wow, I am feeling much better now …. almost 100% ……

Sure seems to be the time of year when bugs go around…..

I am so happy to see the sky getting light earlier …

Also the sun has been shining for several days nows ….

The snow is melting and the ground is peering through.

We still have huge banks on our front lawns (we face north).

But spring is definitely here.

So on this 4th day of April, I wish you a great day.

May you be surrounded by love and laughter, goodness and joy.

Happy Thursday everyone.

Special Hello to: all my family and friends who I miss everyday….

Mowing & Raking the grass with Alvin !!

Doesn’t everyone mow and rake their lawn while holding their puppy on their leash??  Okay, so perhaps not.  I was out mowing the lawns and Alvin was sitting on the floor resting his head on the window sill of the living room window.  He looked so forlorn.  I knew that he really wanted to be out there with me but I thought it would be too much work.  So I carried on.  Finally it got to me, I was done most of the mowing and just doing the raking so figured I could handle a dog on a leash and the rake.  After all, I have two arms & two hands right !  So I went into the house and called him, he was pretty much at the door when he heard the key in the lock.  As of the last I do not know how long, Sir Alvin has decided that when it is time to go for a walk that he will just go and hide under the kitchen table.  Why, you might ask?  Because he doesn’t want to put on his harness.  It makes a loud clicking noise.  He is a bit nervous about it and I do not why exactly why.  So anyway, I decided to just grab the leash and harness and called him to come out onto the step (which he did, easily) and there I put on his harness & leash.

With the rake in one hand and Alvin on the leash in the other, I proceeded to rake the lawn.  It really wasn’t easy as he wanted to go see if Aussie the cat (next door), was sitting in the window.   She wasn’t there.  It was fun for awhile until he decided to start chewing on his leash.  At that point, I decided “it was time” for Alvin to go back into the house.  He had a bit of a break and helped his Mom with the raking and mowing.  By the way, have you ever tried to mow the grass while holding a puppy on a leash.  It gives a whole new meaning to “mowing the grass” ….  LOL.

The lawns look great and we both had some fresh air and exercise.

Happy Day ……..
