Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 20th day of November, 2017.

WOW, just a little over one month till Christmas Day.

Where did the time go?

I remember last Christmas so well and the summer seemed like yesterday.

Woke up to a layer of fresh white snow.

There was wind last night just as we were going to bed so I am thinking it might have rained as well.

Yesterday was in the plus temperatures and today minus double digits.

Crazy weather.

We had a great walk yesterday.

Oh, does Mr. Alvin love to sniff about.

I love our walks when the weather is nice whether summer or winter.

Well back to work …. weekends always seem to pass quickly.

My neighbour and friend took the dryer apart and one of the fuses burned out.

Burned out due to being blocked by lint and some dryer sheets.

I will tell you this ….. take your dryer apart once a year and clean it out.

My was jammed pack with lint and dryer sheets.

Now considering it had not been done EVER, I was shocked it was not worse.

But I will say that once a year I will be cleaning out the inside of my dryer.

Your dryer will let you know if it is not drying clothes in one cycle ….. likely you have a lint/dryer sheet clog.

It took some time to get all of the screws out but at the end of the day ….. that is such a fire trap …. take the time.

Get a friend to help and maybe do a video so you remember what you did because it is a bit detailed but not hard.

Worth it and I learned so much.

Well almost time to go to work.

Have a great day.

Happy Monday.

Special Hello to:  all those folks who take the time …… and to those who do not…… please take the time.

Thought for the day ……

Today is Wednesday the 14th day of October, 2015.

Wow, can you believe it?

Where does the time go?

As of late, I have noticed several people over the age of 40 mention about how fast time goes.

The consensus of opinion was “once you have children” the time flies.

Do you remember when you were 5 and waiting for Santa to arrive?

Trying to figure out how he could come into your house because you did not have the obligatory brick chimney!

Do you remember when your Mum said only 5 sleeps until your Birthday party?

You thought 5 how much is that ?

When you are a child time seems to pass slowly but it is because you live in the present and the future seems far away.

Even one day.

As we get older ….. we live in the future …. our thoughts are always for tomorrow.

We also live in the past so naturally time will fly …..

I guess one thing we can learn from the children is to live in the present …..  live today.

Most days I am okay with the speed that time seems to go …

Others not so much.

Guess lesson learned …..

Always live for today ….. tomorrow will come soon enough.

If you always worry about today and think of tomorrow where are you really living?  Yesterday?

Yikes, too much heavy thinking for 630 a.m.

Time to leave for work.

The office is calling …..

Er, perhaps first being the bus.

Staying focused.

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 13th day of May, 2015.

The sun is coming up with promises of a lovely day.

Well last night was “bootcamp”  …… my mind keeps saying you are young and “can do this” and my body says “wait a minute.”

We did circuits ….. OMG.

Oh the YING and YANG of it.

But I survived and I will admit, yes being honest here.

There were a couple of exercises okay maybe three that I modified as I did not feel that I could pull them off just yet.

But the thing is …. I am trying.

I want to get back into shape ….. have a toned tummy.

I want to know that I have a core and it is doing what it is supposed to do.

Not to find out after doing a class filled with exercises for the core that I pulled a stomach muscle(s) and had a hard time getting in and out of bed.

So lesson learned I do the class at my pace but building it up every time I go.

One of these days I will be able to do what the 30 somethings are doing.

I will continue to walk every night with Alvin and on the weekends double time.

I am going to start doing yoga on a regular basis as I have found that I am not very flexible.

Well it is time to finish getting ready for work but I just wanted to let you know that it is never too late to get your body into shape.

It will take time and patience and hard work but we can do it.

I want to have a flater tummy …… bye bye love handles.

They are not very “lovely” to me.

Time to fly.

Have a great day.

Remember walk when you can ….. do some squats ….. something but get moving.

We sit way too much ….. I know that I do.

Special Hello to: my fellow bloggers ….. you rock.

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 12th day of April, 2015.

It is a peaceful, quiet, partially overcast morning here in Edmonton.

I am so enjoying being at home on the weekend.

This is my first real weekend at home without working at the store.

I do miss my friends ….

Yesterday I had a full day.

Started out by taking Mr. Alvin to the Vet for his regular six month appointment.

He does not like having his nails done.

Poor guy ….. he was not happy.

The rest of the visit was great.

He loved the treat ….. silly boy.

Also he was so happy to see his Jenn as she only works some Saturdays.

After arriving back home I changed and had a nice cup of coffee before hitting the streets.

Hitting the streets near my home to clean up the trash.

It always amazes me the amount of trash that is strewn about.

I so wished that I would have had my camera with me yesterday so that you could see.

The worst spot was in the walkway between our neighbourhood and a busy artery.

It was literally covered in MacDonald’s bags, coffee and drink cups from Dairy Queen, StarBucks and various places.

There was also broken “beer” bottles and other glass, food containers, plastic bags wrapped around the branches of the rose bushes.

That is the other thing about cleaning this spot as it is lined with rose bushes, the sidewalk in between and then grass on the other side.

The Styrofoam packing pieces had been broken and there were small pieces everywhere …. down to the small round ones.

I did my very best to pick them up … finding that picking them up with leaves kept them from sticking to my “disposable latex” gloves.

There were a great many children and adults that walked by during my 1.5 hours there and I made sure that they all had a lesson in picking up the trash and what it does to the environment.  Example being the bits of styrofoam that are ingested by birds and wildlife and even some of our pets.  Birds and animals then feel as though they are full as it tricks the stomach (cannot be digested), and they eventually starve to death.  How horrible is that!  It was not my intention to give everyone a lecture but I felt that I must.  People just get so wrapped up in their own little worlds that they forget the damage that is being done.  We are “killing” this beautiful planet that we call home.  It is time.  Time for everyone to smarten up.

As it took longer than I had planned the other half of the neighbourhood will have to wait until next Saturday.

It was the weirdest thing as I was only about six houses from home when the wind got up and blew dirt and trash from down the street from the other direction.

I could hardly hold on to the garbage bag.

Thank goodness I was close to home.

Well that was an experience.

I filled three bags of garbage and carried them home to my garage.

YIKES.

Once home I completely changed, brushed the dirt from my teeth and cleaned up.

Put on a pot of coffee and made a snack.

GLAD TO BE INSIDE as it started to rain and the wind blew and blew.

The balance of the day I spent doing laundry and odds and ends.

Even though the garbage makes me a bit “mad” and so sad I am so grateful that I am now home on the weekends so that I can keep the neighbourhood clean.

Perhaps I shall organize another neighbourhood cleanup.

Also I want to do some teaching ……

No wonder the planet is in such bad shape ….. it starts at home ….. in your neighbourhood.

If we cannot keep it clean how can we ever keep the planet clean.

The planet is our neighbourhood.

So on this Sunday I am so grateful ….. grateful to be at home.

Alvin is curled up on the bed dreaming away, and I love it.

I wish you a peaceful, happy Sunday.

Special Hello to: my friend “P” who is recovering from cancer surgery and treatment and is on the road to being well.

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 3rd day of January, 2014.

Well I am back at it today after being sick yesterday.

It is amazing how quickly you can go from feeling great to not.

On this last day of the work week for most people, I would like to pass on this thought.

What would our lives be like if “we lived without judgment?”

We tend to live thinking of each end of the spectrum.

For example: either there is beauty in an object or it is ugly.

Have you ever considered that one could not exist without the other.

I am reading an interesting book at the moment.

It has got me to thinking beyond my usual positive nature.

I guess that is always a good thing.

If you are curious about the book.

It is “CHANGE Your THOUGHTS — CHANGE Your LIFE” by Dr. Wayne Dyer.

I think it is always good to stretch yourself.

So on this Friday, I am going to be “devoid of judgment.”

My lesson for the day.

See both ends of the spectrum, I believe.

Remember that one cannot exist without the other.

They are both important in the grand scheme of things.

Special Hello to: my sister  …. we should SKYPE soon.
