Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 2nd day of June, 2015.

It is overcast and raining.

YAY, water for our lawns and flowers and CROPS, of course.

Last night on our way home from our walk, and the delivery of invitations to a “Steeped Tea” party that I am hosting later in June; I decided to stop and pick up the mail.

Now most times all there is in the mailbox is flyers, and the occasional piece of actual mail.

This time there was a key to the bigger mailbox.

The ones that hold parcels and special items.

I was stumped as I could not think of anything that would be coming to me.

But the Universe and one of my dear old friends had something else in store.

So I took the key and opened the mailbox.

There was a huge box inside.

My heart stopped.

It was not my birthday ….. I had not ordered anything.

So I carefully with one hand holding Alvin (who was ready to get home), and a bag with invitations and the mail in the other …. removed the parcel from the mailbox.

The parcel was addressed to both me and Alvin ….. our first parcel together.

Ah …..

Then I quickly checked out the return address to see it was from one of my dear friends that we had recently reconnected via Facebook.

She had mentioned about sending something but I had forgotten about it.

So exciting.

Once I removed Alvin’s harness …. threw off my flip flops and put the “flyers” down …. into the kitchen to grab some scissors to open the package.

What could it be?

I opened the package to find ……..

Isn't this the cutest leash holder ever ..... the puppy looks just like me Alvin.

Isn’t this the cutest leash holder ever ….. the puppy looks just like me Alvin.

Addressed to me and Alvin and Alvin's first parcel .....

Addressed to us both and Alvin’s first parcel.

Well I must tell you Mr. Alvin was pretty excited.

As was I.

Did I mention that I have the most thoughtful, wonderful, amazing creative friends on the planet?

Thank you my friend “M” …… I could not be more tickled to receive such a beautiful gift.

You are so talented ….. we love it.

Alvin was pretty excited, too and says “thank you very much.”

I have just the place for it and it is perfect.

Special Hello to: my friend “M” ….. thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 30th and last day of April, 2014.

Whoa where did April go?

It was an interesting April of 2014, I shall say.

We are grateful that here in Edmonton are skies are bright and blue as the sun rises in the east.

We hope that the snow that has fallen to the east melts quickly and that our neighbours in Saskatchewan and eastward have our weather soon.

Thank you.

Mr. Alvin came in to take a look and sniff at me as this morning I decided to wear a “skirt.”

This is not an usually sight in my house.

In fact, this is the first bare legs I have had since last summer.

Feels good to not have material covering my skin although my skirt is longer.

I am so happy is we are just about to touch “summer.”

Although you know that spring is my favourite season; summer and fall come in a close second.

I also do not mind winter.

I guess I am a all season lover.

Lover of all seasons.

You always have to take it all to appreciate the high points.

That is life.

So on this last day of April – let us be grateful that:

– we are alive

– we have food in the fridge

– we are surrounded by family and friends

– we are surrounded by love and laughter

– we have blessings in all shapes and sizes

– we can hear the clock ticking

– we can taste that good food in the fridge

– we can smell the fresh air

– we can see the bright blue sky and that perfect sunrise

– we can walk to the mailbox

– we can buy that cup of coffee on the way to work

– we can talk and communicate

– we have each other.

Have a great day.

Special Hello to: all those amazing human beings that read my blog and every blog ….. thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 25th day of April, 2014.

What a great morning ….. the sun is peeking through most of the clouds and I have something to share.

Last night when I checked the mailbox …. I found a key ….. it was to unlock one of the parcel mailboxes.

With excitement I opened the mailbox to find a parcel addressed to me …. a big parcel.

With big red lettering the parcel said “F-R-A-G-I-L-E.

I was so excited I almost let go of Mr. Alvin as we were just on our way home from a walk.

With the mail and parcel pressed against my chest so that I would not drop anything me and Alvin hurried home.

Once inside the house I quickly removed Alvin’s harness and leash and wiped his paws.

Quickly removing my shoes and jacket I ran to the kitchen to open my treasure.

Oh, the parcel was from my friend “VAL” who lives in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Carefully I opened the parcel with my trusty mail opener …..

I felt like a small child on Christmas morning ….. full of glee.

Obviously it is not very often that I get a parcel in the mail and most especially something that I was not expecting.

When I pulled back the mauve tissue paper I found the most glorious looking chocolate cookie/biscuits dipped in white and dark chocolate all nicely decorated.

Oh my goodness…… my mouth drooling in anticipation …. because I know that my friend Val is an excellent baker/cook.

Also enclosed in the package was a container of coconut oil and 100 uses of said oil and a lovely tupperware citrus peeler (very useful).

There is nothing that I can say that would or could express how grateful I was/am for this thoughtful gift.

There was no reason …. not my birthday ….. not a special occasion ….. just a friend being thoughtful.

I managed to wait until I had supper before tasting the chocolate treats.

Lucky for me I was having company ….. a friend was picking up her custom jewellery order and was staying for tea.

So we had the most luscious treat ….. we both enjoyed them.

Today my daughter will get to try them, too.

I love to share great things.

Baking …… mmmm

So that is my story …. my thought for the day …… it was a reminder to me to make sure that I do something out of the ordinary for someone.

To make someone’s day …. a kindness ….

Here are some photos so that you can see what these tasty treats looked like:

I hope that you have a great day and perhaps you will receive something extra special today in the mail or a special delivery to your door.

Special Hello to: my friend Val, you are such a kind and generous human being and thank you. ¬†Alvin sure wanted to try them……

Always, Carol and Alvin
