Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 17th day of June, 2018.

Happy Father’s Day to all the DADS out there.

It does not matter if you are a biological father, a father by marriage or by adoption or a Dad to fur babies.

Every DAD is important.

Happy Father’s Day to all the FATHERS in my life.

Thank you.

Well this was an unusual morning.

We stayed up and watched a movie, the new TOMB RAIDER, Lara Croft one after my family went home.

We had a great visit and supper together.

So much laughter.

This was a company weekend and we both it enjoyed all of our company.

So this morning we were up at 5:30 or Mr. Alvin wanted me to get up.

We got up and he had breakfast and went outside.

Back to the sofa and then it was almost 9:00 when we got up.

Figured would eat first and then go for a walk as it looks like a hot one on the way.

We left home about 9:30 and got home about 11:10 a.m.

Had a few stops for visits along the way with the last one being with our friends at the corner.

Alvin enjoyed running and sniffing in their back yard while we sat and visited on the swing.

He laid and rolled in the grass, so cute.

He loves their back yard and so do I.

Looks like a hot week ahead.

No complaints as our summers are so short.

We had a nice morning no rushing.

Just having coffee now which is late but that is okay.

ON our walk we saw the geese down by the water by the trees.

Did not see the goslings.

Disappointed.

Well time to get some things done and to enjoy a CUP OF COFFEE.

I love that first cup of coffee.

I hope that you are enjoying your Sunday with your family and friends.

Maybe you are looking forward to a quiet one and that is okay, too.

OR perhaps you are working away from home as is my nephew.

Have a safe and wonderful day.

Looks like this is going to be great summer.

I hear that company is company is coming to our house at the end of July.

My daughter and I are taking a road trip in August.

Just gets better and better.

Happy Sunday and Happy Father’s Day.

Special Hello to: all the FATHERS out there …..

Always, Carol & Alvin

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Well today is Sunday, June 11, 2017 and is the 60th day until my 60th Birthday.

I would say that this has been on my mind, as of late.

Not that I am stressing over this upcoming date.

Just pondering the path behind and the road ahead.

Over my lifetime to this point;  how I envisioned my life is not exactly how it has turned out.

In the early days I wanted the white picket fence, the house, the husband, the four children-two sons and two daughters, summer vacations and to be a nurse and writer.

However that is not exactly the course that my life has taken.

I do not have the white picket fence.

Fences are not all that necessary.

I finally got the house on my own just months before I turned 52.

I do have have a husband, and that is okay.

I was married and have been divorced for several decades.

I do not have four children.

I do however have ONE amazing, wonderful DAUGHTER and a great SON-IN-LAW and GRAND-PUPPIES.

I adopted my four-legged companion, Alvin in 2010.

He brings great joy to my days.

I am not able to take summer vacations.

I am not a nurse.

But I write ….. this I have done since I was 6 years old.

So life changes as the days and years pass.

Our dreams change over time.

I will say that I never thought that I would be single, take early retirement after 30 years with a company and then start another “career” and am now almost 6 years into it.

Time flies.

I kid with folks and say that I am “OLD” but truth is …. I feel young even though somedays my body reminds me otherwise.

I love to laugh and when I find that I am taking life too seriously I change directions and find the laughter once again.

I watched a video last night of James Corden doing an interview with Ed Sheeran in a car.

They were driving along ….. singing and talking ….. talking and singing.

Enjoying life.

I must say I love ED SHEERAN and pleasantly surprised by James Corden’s voice (he easily could have been a singer).

You may wonder what Ed and James have to do with 60 days to 60 but in actuality it is partly the choices we make about music and such that keeps us young.

Think young ….. act young ….. be young.

Well I guess if I am to write things for 60 days about turning 60, I should stop now.

Safe to say the next 59 days worth of posts will be shorter.

I hope that my journey to 60 will perhaps inspire you, make you laugh, maybe even bring a tear to your eye but most of all I hope that it brings some joy to your day(s).

Now yikes only 59 days till I turn 60……………

Always, Carol

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 13th day of May, 2016.

Well the sky is fairly clear and the sun is rising.

It is the weekend.

With all that is going on around me/us I find that I must push my focus to all of the greatness in my life.

One of the most breathtaking creatures ever created.

The dragonfly.

I have seen some that have turquoise throughout their bodies.

The joy of my life …..

Penny is gone now.

We are enjoying every moment with our Elton.

Summer of 2009, my first summer here in Edmonton

Some of the beauty of nature.

Flowers ….. I love flowers

Enjoying a sunny winter's day!

Enjoying a sunny winter’s day!

Me Alvin several years ago …..

Just a few reminders of the good things in life, in my life.

Of course, there are family – my daughter and son-in-law, siblings and friends.

The list is long.

Sometimes a photo of your puppies, a dragonfly and a calf can just bright your day.

AND FLOWERS ……

In fact, most days.

Well time to go for work.

Have an awesome Friday everyone.

Special Hello: friends all over the world.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 22nd day of February, 2015.

It is the day before my sister’s birthday.

She will be 56 this birthday.

That reminds me I will be 58 in August.

Where does the time go?

Have you ever sat down and recorded things that happened during your life thus far.

Perhaps each one …

Maybe by decade ….

It could be anything …. really ….

Perhaps the birth of a younger sibling.

Marriage.

First day of grade school.

The birth of your children.

Your first pet.

First adult book you read.

Graduating from college/university.

Death of a parent.

First time spoke in front of a crowd/group.

Your first winter vacation.

Your first job.

Major move from birthplace.

First flower you remember seeing and smelling.

There are so many things ….

Grab a notebook the next time you visit the neighbourhood discount store and start recording your life.

When you have a day or maybe a week where you are feeling like your life is blah and doesn’t mean anything …. grab your notebook and look at all that has happened thus far.

You will be pleasantly surprised.

It doesn’t matter if you are not a rocket scientist or inventor of the modern day computer.

It doesn’t matter that you do not have children.

It doesn’t matter if you did not graduate high school.

It doesn’t matter if you did not get married.

But what does matter …. and is most important.

Is this: that you were born,

that you took the time to smell that rose, and appreciate the wonder of nature;

that you adopted that wonderful dog who had been abused, neglected and unloved;

that you shovelled the sidewalk and driveway every winter for your elderly neighbours;

that you recycled cardboard, tins and such;

that you were kind to all those who surrounded you each day;

that you always gave your best.

See you have lived a great life ….. now write it down.

Have the best Sunday.

Happy birth – day …… you matter.

Special Hello to: each of us.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday, the 12th day of May 2013 and “MOTHER’S DAY”.

It is overcast but very warm this morning in the City of Edmonton, and it is calm.

I am so grateful to have spring, and to be alive and able to enjoy this great moment, this time, this day.

I want to wish every WOMAN and GIRL on the planet a “Happy Mother’s Day.”

Whether you are a Mother by giving birth to a child, having a child through adoption or by marriage.

Whether you are a Mommy to your dolly or your dog or cat or bird.

You are a nurturer, loving and kind.

You were meant to be on this earth and to spread love through your “children.”

It could also be said that some of the opposite sex could also fit into the nurturer group….

I think Mother’s Day applies to anyone whether two-legged or four-legged or other… that gives love to another.

Someone who gives kindness and joy and doesn’t ask for anything in return.

So as I prepare to SKYPE with my wonderful, beautiful, kind, loving and fantastic sister … I wish you all the absolute most fantastic, amazing, awesome day that you have ever experienced.

I hope that you remember you are special …. you bring joy to others.

So on this Mother’s Day if you happen to be alone …. just revel in the glory that you are amazing and the Earth is a better, better place for you being in it.

Have the best day.

I love you …..

and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO.

Special Hello: to YOU …. thank you Mom……I miss you.  thank you Grandma, I miss you ….. to all those great ones that have gone before us.

Always, Carol and her Alvin …. who does cherish his Momma …..  🙂
