Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 12th day of January, 2019.

The sun is beginning to rise in the east and I can see a beautiful array of oranges and pinks filling the horizon.

So excited to have a bright sunny day and warmer temperatures.

Up to stay for about 1/2 hour now and first up at 4:00 (give or take a few minutes before 4).

Oh my Mr. Alvin, what a guy.

We have a busy day ahead.

Master Teddy is coming at 9:00 a.m. to spend the day with us.

I always love having him as we brings more joy to our house.

If you were having a less than stellar day well Teddy would change your mood, definitely.

Alvin has his 2nd treatment this morning at the Vet.

So will have both the boys in tow on the walk over.

As I sit here the colours have expanded and there is so much colour on display.

So beautiful.

I can now see yellow in with the pinks and oranges.

It is going to be a beautiful day.

Beautiful, perfect.

I was listening to one of the morning shows that I record last night.

It is an American show and they were discussing a wide variety of topics.

SICK DAYS came up.

They were staying that there is talk of doing away with sick days.

Too many people have taken advantage.

Interesting and scary.

I wanted to mention this.

My daughter ordered something for me on AMAZON after Christmas.

The order was shipped out in several deliveries.

The first two arrived at my house while I was at home.

My daughter let me know that there had been a delivery only I did not receive that package.

I suppose someone decided that they needed that item more than me.

There are always comments and posts on Facebook and News Reports that packages delivered by Amazon and other on-line companies are stolen

I was grateful that my daughter contacted AMAZON and guess what – not only did they send a replacement but they placed it in CANADA POST.

This time I received the package.

Now I have the full order.

I had been worried and they have restored my faith in humankind.

Thank you Amazon.

Still kind of mad about the fool that stole the package from my front porch.

What kind of people do that?

If you needed the money, why did you not ask?

Well time to go and have a shower before Master Teddy arrives.

I am so excited to see him as is Mr. Alvin.

Have an awesome Saturday and if you are reading this while the sun is rising …. it is glorious.

As each minute passes it becomes more beautiful.

So beautiful.

Special Hello to: my friend V who is so helpful, thank you my friend.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 23rd day of May, 2018.

I started to key/type Tuesday the 22nd day of May, 2018 before I realized that it was mid week already.

WOW, when Monday is a stat holiday and you take Tuesday as a vacation day, the week really goes by quickly.

Yesterday we went for a walk bright and early (for us) before it got too warm.

Chatted with my sister a couple of times via FB messenger, which was nice.

We really had a quiet day and enjoyed my last day of vacation.

Back to work today.

But what a short week.

Can only imagine what it would be like to be home all of the time, retired.

Getting up when you chose to.

Taking on whatever projects you wanted to as money and time were not an object.

Does everything always boil down to time and or money?

Most of the time unfortunately it does.

But the choices we make bring us to the places of arrival.

The bright blue sky of a few minutes ago on the north side of the house has diminished somewhat due to some cloud cover at the south side of the house.

What a difference a few feet can make.

I have the windows open and you can hear the roar of vehicles on the nearby highway as folks travel to and from work.

Today is to be plus 30 degrees celsius.

So on this Wednesday I am going to continue to dream.

I dream of the day when I will retire.

Sleeping in if I wish.

Taking on whatever projects I wish as I will have more time.

But not to lose sight of today and making the most of each second, minute and hour.

Well here it is almost time to leave for work.

I hope that you all had a great long weekend.

Happy Wednesday.

Special Hello to:  my sister.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 12th day of April, 2017.

The sky is beginning to brighten earlier with each passing day.

Love this time of year.

Thank goodness no DRAMA in our household this morning.

OH my goodness that boy of mine, sometimes.

Somewhere along the way, he went from hiding his chew treats under pillows and in corners, to the snowbanks, to the muddy grass areas of our backyard.

Is this perhaps an age thing?

He is now a Senior according to our Vet.

I guess it is not like he can go out and buy a fancy red sports car.

So instead he DIGS.

Middle age ….. OLD ……

Thank goodness that I am not hiding my chocolate under things, in the snow and in the mud.

Oh well.

That is what life is like living with me Alvin.

He keeps me hopping ….. sometimes hopping mad but only for a short minute and then he brings a big SMILE to my face and to my heart.

We enjoyed a nice walk around our park/lakes.

The sidewalks are almost dried.

Gotta love this guy ….. he is curled up on the little piece of rug that is under my computer chair and under the desk.

Has to be near me at all times.

I do not blame him ……. small giggle …. big SMILE.

Well almost time to leave for work.

I am catching a ride with my neighbour as we are having a baby shower for a co-worker and taking the gift on the bus ….. better in a car, when possible.

I hope that you have a great day.

Remember to smile at whatever life brings you even when you feel like yelling, screaming or pouting.

Happy Wednesday.

Long weekend right around the corner and this Momma is happy for that …….

Special Hello to: my daughter, thank you for your love and support in all that I do ……

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 21st day of August, 2016.

There is a delightfully cool breeze coming in through the open upstairs windows in my house.

My skin is drinking it in ….. it feels so good.

We had some rain before we went to bed and some overnight but by morning only the cloudy sky and damp deck remained.

The sun is shining now but definitely a change in the temperature at least at this time.

I wanted to share something with you.

A few days ago Alvin and I were out for our evening stroll.

We happened across several people out walking with their pups.

We ended up walking with a man and his dog named Scout.

A nice younger man and even though his dog was slightly bigger than Alvin – he sniffed and they socialized.

We talked about a recent situation he had while they were out walking.

He said it was later in the evening and it was dark.

He noticed two young guys walking.

Then he noticed two dogs with no apparent humans.

At first he thought they belonged together and they had the dogs off leash.

But it was not the case.

The dogs went after Scout.

He rescued Scout and suffered injuries.

Both the man and Scout ended up with minor injuries.

I will not mention the breed of dogs.

They get enough of a bad rap.

He reported the incident to the Police and found out that the dogs had escaped from their back yard once again.

Just so happy that the man and his dog named Scout were okay.

Alvin and Scout just walked along okay with each other.

I reason that I relay this story was because while we were walking I happened to look down and see this huge DRAGONFLY.

It did not appear to be alive.

Just to give you a reference it was larger than the one in these photos.

I bent down and gingerly picked it up and it filled my hand.

The man looked over at the dragonfly and we both remarked about how beautiful it was.

Just then the dragonfly moved it’s head and I breathed a sigh of relief to know it was alive.

The man said “Let me take a photo of it,” and drew out his cell phone from his pocket.

He snapped a couple of photos of the dragonfly laying on my hand.

We had to step off the sidewalk as people were coming up the walk.

I held the dragonfly for a minute longer and then went to set it down on the grass when it got it’s bearings and slowly flew away.

Happy ending to this story for everyone.

I so enjoyed meeting this man and Scout.

Funny you never know who you will meet when you are out for a walk.

I love meeting people and so love dragonflies.

I am so pleased that we went out at that exact time or we would not have met the Man, Scout or the Dragonfly.

Well the sky is beginning to cloud up.

I can hear breakfast calling and COFFEE.

We slept in this morning …… because we can.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Special Hello to: my sister – glad to hear all is well.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 9th day of July, 2016.

It is a bright and beautiful morning here in Edmonton.

Full of light and promise.

As things roll around in my brain all I can think of is: just take it one minute at a time.

Do the best in that minute and the next and the next.

All you have is that minute.

All we really have is that moment to shine or not.

Our strength and determination to get through those moments will carry us on.

Some moments we may have less strength and less determination than others but we will carry on.

Everyone has moments of utter glory and moments of utter dread.

I do not believe that there is one human being on this planet that has not experienced both glory and dread.

It may appear to those on the outside that some people may be only on a path of glory and joy but it is all relative.

What you feel is downright dreadful may not be to someone else.

So on this day ….. feel ….. eat ….. smile……be joyful……listen to music…….walk with your dog…..admire the roses……smell said roses……look up at the sky and see what you can see.

Enjoy your life.

Do what you can to enjoy your life.

I am going to a tea tasting at my Steeped Tea “leader’s house” with another consultant this morning.

What a great way to start the weekend.

Special Hello to: my family and friends all over the world.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 24th day of September, 2015.

The second day of autumn/fall.

The air felt warm this morning when Alvin went outside or at least warmer than it has been in the mornings.

Yesterday was so beautiful and we enjoyed our walk by the walk so much.

We truly can learn from our beloved “friends” …..

Mr. Alvin loves walking by the lake(s) near our home.

I let him go on the longest length of his leash and he sniffs about.

Enjoying every minute.

Last night there was something close to the trees near the water and I literally had to walk down and coax him to come back near the sidewalk.

I did not know what he was smelling with his super duper senses and I really did not wish to know.

Finally he came up to the sidewalk and we continued our walk.

Truly we can learn from them.

On the way home he even stopped to smell the roses that are still blooming near the entrance to the park.

I often stop to smell them and now he does, too.

We are reminded to “stop and smell the roses” ……

Stop and be still.

Be in the moment.

For in that moment is the best of life.

So stop and treasure it everyday.

Take that moment and you will be forever changed.

Enjoy your Thursday …..

As will I.

Thank you for your time.

You are so amazing and I appreciate you.

Time to hit the trail to the bus.

Special Hello to: my friends back in Saskatchewan …. wished that you were all on a plane coming to see me.

Always, Carol and Alvin
