Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

Good Morning and today is the beginning of my second week of vacation.

Yesterday I celebrated my 63rd Birthday with some girlfriends in the morning.

We had so many treats along with coffee and I share my birthday “cakes.”

Throughout the day I chatted with my sister and brothers via telephone.

Another girl friend dropped by the house.

I shared my birthday cake and cupcakes with neighbours and friends throughout the day.

I had calls, texts and messages and birthday cards from coast to Canadian coast and everywhere in between.

What a lucky girl I am.

My birthday celebrations began on Friday with my daughter and family.

So many gifts and treats.

I am so grateful for each person who took the time out to send me birthday wishes.

Alvin and I slept in this morning after first getting up so that Alvin could eat and go outside.

Finally dragging our butts off the sofa – we went for a walk.

I can smell the coffee which is likely now brewed.

Today is going to be a lazy day for us.

I still have the blinds to clean but I think that will be tomorrow.

Birthday 2020 Photos.

Family, friends, so much cake and so many wonderfully thoughtful gifts.

Truly life is better with a dog (s).

Time to go and have coffee before Alvin jumps ship.

Have a great day.

Happy Birthday Cousin J ….. so many August birthdays.

To our Angel – Happy Birthday Penny.

We know that you are playing tag with Elton and Casey.

Miss Penny

Wishing you all the best Monday ever.

May you be surrounded by family and friends.

Love and Laughter.

Continuing to live with Kindness and Respect.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 29th day of March, 2018.

Woke up to more snow.

ARGH,

I tire of this white covering.

Moisture is good but …..

THE ICE.

Drives me crazy.

Yesterday I slipped on the ice on my way to the bus.

I was so careful but it was dark and I could not see the ice under the layer of snow.

I will be so grateful when all of the ice melts.

Not the POLAR ICE CAPS.

I do not wish it to melt.

Just the ice in my neighbourhood.

I only wish to be able to walk to and from the bus and be safe.

That is all.

Mr. Alvin appears to be back to normal.

No clingy this morning.

In fact, I placed his little blue blanket on the floor beside me in the office and he is not laying on it.

However …. one of his chew treats was gently placed in the middle of the blanket.

He loves to hide and bury his chew treats all over the house and the yard.

In fact, this spring as the snow melts I am curious to see just how many are laying on the deck and on the grass area in the back.

What a guy.

I guess he is a canine after all and we all know that canines like to dig and bury.

He loves to dig and to bury.

He makes me laugh.

I am so grateful to have him in my life.

Some days it is difficult to find anything humorous.

I started to watch the news again and last night STOPPED again.

Well today is my last day to work at the office for the week.

We are so blessed to have four days off.

I am so excited.

YAY.

Just some photos of the “cuteness.”

How could you not smile when you look at this face.

Happy Thursday “Alvin” …..

Thank you.

All of our four-legged babies make me smile.

Somedays we annoy each other just like an old married couple.

That is the truth.

But we cannot live without each other.

When I am away we miss each other.

This is our life together …. together.

Always, Carol

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 8th day of January, 2017.

Just saw a magpie (bird) fly by my office window.

The sky remains overcast with the morning cloud cover but in gapes I can see pure blue sunny sky.

It is quiet in the house.

Alvin is laying in the hallway waiting for me to come downstairs and start our day.

We were up several hours earlier so that he could go outside and have his breakfast, of course.

But then I felt it was too early to rise so back to bed (not the sofa this time).

Last night my sleep was filled with many dreams.

Unfortunately I do not remember them.

We have had a good weekend.

Yesterday my daughter and our newest addition came to visit before and after Aspen’s Doctor visit.

I love having them over.

Aspen tried her best to induce Alvin to play but he just could not find his way yet.

He will.

We feel as we watch interact that they will one day soon.

One of those things ….. they just need to spend more time together.

Alvin is not a puppy any longer so things sometimes take longer.

One of those “age” things ….. which I can attest to.

Baby Milo has already figured things out but then they are with each hour 24 hours each day.

Aspen is such a sweet creature, and I am so happy that she has joined our family.

We love her and I am grateful that she found her way to us at the most perfect of times.

She brings a loving, calm, peaceful presence with her.

She is a YING to Milo’s YANG.

They balance each other.

She will continue to teach him good things.

He is definitely still a puppy and she has taken the mother role.

We do miss our Elton and Miss Penny, and they will forever be in our hearts and minds.

As time passes on the younger ones will take over most of our everyday thoughts.

But always our beloved Elton and Penny will be in our hearts.

There is room for each one in our hearts for all time.

To all those who have lost a loved one recently whether two-legged or four the grieving process is different.

Take your time, remember them, and always keep them in your hearts as a memory for all-time.

To Sundays a day to reflect and perhaps relax before heading to the week ahead.

Special Hello to: my sister, thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 5th day of October, 2016.

Sorry that I missed yesterday.  I stayed home trying to recover from this cold thing that I have caught.

It would seem that so many people are sick as of late.

Today seems to be much better as I slept most of yesterday.

Sleeping always seems to help me recover more quickly.

Well here we are and today is Wednesday.

Yesterday was bright and sunny for the most part.

No rain.

No rain this morning.

Nice to wake up to dry ground.

The wet will come soon enough.

As I sit here writing these words I see a photo of me Alvin and our beloved Miss Penny whom we lost in March of this year.

In the photo they are sitting on the top of my daughter and son-in-law’s sofa in their old house looking out of the window.

I wonder where Sir Elton is …. perhaps there was no room with them both up there.

I love the photo.

They both have their backs to the camera each looking in a different direction.

Further than the window is blurred.

It is a great photo.

Wow here we are October 5th, 2016.

Less than three months until the end of the year.

Thanksgiving this weekend for Canadians.

Christmas not far away now.

I am always amazed by how fast time seems to be going.

I guess one has to sit back and think of all of the things that happened over the course of a year to truly appreciate it all.

I mean sometimes with time escaping as fast as it does we think that we have not accomplished much.

Sometimes I suppose that may be true but for the most part we do so much in a short period of time.

Keep that in your thoughts.

Just think about what you do in the course of an average day.

Mind boggling.

If you still cannot come to grips with it all ….

Sit down and make a list.

Go back as far as you want …. maybe over your lifetime.

You will be surprised.

Now this does not mean that you had to invent the light bulb – no that as already been done.

It means that you did things that you are proud of …. or things that happened to you that may not have happened to anyone else.

The unique things to you.

That can also mean having your children, your job, your garden or your blog.

Something that only you can do …. remember that means only you could have your children.

No one else can.

They can have their own.

Well time to hop scotch to the bus stop.

No, I will be walking carefully.

Have an awesome Wednesday.

Special Hello to: my friends everywhere.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 22nd day of October, 2015.

Another beautiful morning.

Alvin has me wondering about something.

Just noticed this morning that he is “enthralled” by the plant that remains on the deck.

It is one of those grass type plants that you use to fill in with flowers.

Only thing is it grew so well – took over the flowers.

Anyway I noticed him sniffing about there before bed.

So I quickly moved him away and now this morning.

Guess will have to move it into the garage.

I want to see if it will winter.

Something about the planet.

He is not eating it but has licked it, I think.

Cannot see as it was dark in that corner of the deck.

Oh well ….. one of those things.

The kids will be stopping by today as Miss Penny has a Vet appointment today.

So they will keep an eye on the boy.

Well here it is almost time to leave for work.

How did that happen?

Well very quickly …. Al up at 4:00 …. had his breakfast and went out ….. we hit the sofa until 5:20 and then again until 5:40 …..

Oh well it is Thursday.

I hope that you have an amazing day.

Special Hello to: all those people who read my blog, I am very grateful.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 29th day of August, 2015.

Wow, can you believe it …. only two days left till the end of August.

I do love the end of summer and the months that follow named “AUTUMN.”

The colours …. the air …. mmm.

Well I had an interesting day yesterday.

Mr. Alvin had some mysterious illness.

He wouldn’t even eat some banana in the morning …. his eyes were glazed.

Definitely not feeling good.

Just over one hour after we got up he tried to throw up but did not.

He yelped whenever he jumped off the sofa.

I booked an appointment with the vet and by the time we could get in he was almost back to himself.

It scares me when he is not feeling well ….. if he could talk ….

I didn’t want to leave him alone ….. after all he is my baby.

Later in the afternoon my daughter and grand-pups dropped by.

They had been to an appointment with the vet (we go to the same one).

Poor Penny did not have a great report.

Elton is doing good.

With our Miss P …. well I am certain that with medicine and perhaps change in diet she will be okay.

She is a strong girl.

I popped out for groceries … borrowed the car.

They stayed for supper ….

After supper my neighbours down the street popped by to drop off their shop vac so that I can finish cleaning the dust from the dry wall.  I already wiped the walls down but there is yet another coat of dust so will wipe down again and then use the shop vac.  Hopefully soon I will be able to move everything back into that room.

We also debated about my tree.

The roots have decided to come to the surface.

Now this did not happen over night.

Unfortunately for me, I did not realize what it was until this year.

I do remember bits of something hard coming to the surface and then breaking through.

But it never occurred to me that it was the roots of the tree until this summer.

Anyway my neighbour went back to his house and got his axe.

We had a good laugh about him carrying the axe down the street (he put it in a garbage bag for transport).

He joked about how strong my swing was …..

We chopped the roots that were closest to the sidewalk at the front porch and the one closest to the retaining wall at my flower bed.  Pulled them out.

I will probably have to cut the tree down in the spring and rip up the lawn to pull up the roots which are all over the place.

They really seemed to have grown this year.

I guess I will be landscaping in the spring.

After we chopped and pulled some roots we all went for a walk … Mr Alvin, too.

It was a perfect evening.

So what a day.

Well I am having company for coffee shortly so better go and have a shower.

Mr. Alvin gets a hair cut today and bath.

Lots to do.

The sky is hazy here with smoke.

Blocking out the brightness of the sun’s rays.

I am grateful at the end of the day that I have good friends and family.

I am grateful for this beautiful weather.

I am very grateful that Alvin is feeling better.

I am grateful that Miss Penny will be feeling better soon and that Elton is good.

My grand-pups…..

Enjoy your Saturday.

Keep your eyes open and question things that are out of the ordinary.

I wished that I would have mentioned those hard spots in the ground sooner.

Alas …. that is life.

Everything happens for a reason.

Special Hello to: all of my friends and family everywhere and thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin
