Living … One day at a time.

Good Morning,

Another beautiful double digit day on the way.

Yesterday was gorgeous at  +15 degrees celsius.

Bright sunshine – just perfect.

After work once Alvin was done outside and with supper; we went for a walk.

I took my equipment with me and by that I mean a large black garbage bag and disposable gloves.

A couple of days ago or three now there was a bag of garbage strewn over a small area just inside our park; close to the trees by the water.

For two days we walked by and it was there each time.

This time I was not going to be one of the ones to go by and either think “who would do that” or just totally ignore the trash.

Not me, cannot do that.

It meant taking and using a big garbage bag and a pair of disposable gloves but my neighbourhood is important to me.

Not only did we clean that up but I filled to the brim two of Alvin’s poopy bags with small trash.

I will never understand how people can walk by and not pick it up.

Anyway, happy to report that once again the park is clean.

I noticed a few pieces of trash alongside the sidewalk closer to my house but I had run out of bags by the time I got home.

Does that not figure?

Anyway another job for this evening’s walk.

I am going to start carrying a plastic grocery bag (if I have any as I use recycled bags).

Life in the fast lane.

We thoroughly enjoyed our walk.

I was so proud of my little rockstar as he stayed out of the garbage as I was picking it up.

You see I was holding him on his leash with one hand and picking up and holding the garbage bag with the other.

I managed.

After I raked all of the leaves on the weekend and cleaned the inbetween part with the stones; everyone else’s leaves had blown all over the yard.

So last night for the third time the front lawn was raked.

Humphrey was over (had picked him up after our walk) and the boys watched me through the living room window.

I also submitted some NORWEX orders.

It was a busy night but felt good to get some chores done.

The one thing that I didn’t do was the exercises …

I have been doing some stretching exercises for the past couple of days.

Makes a difference.

Will be doing them tonight.

Oh, we met Rosie’s Dad last night.

In the early morning I met Rosie and her Mom while waiting for my ride to arrive.

I must say that Rosie is a lucky pup.

They both think the world of her, too.

Another successful RESCUE story.

I hope to hear many more.

Oh, our Humphrey boy.

He is just so cute.

Well time to fly here.

I hope that you all have an awesome day.

Remember to fill your life with kindness and respect.

One small act of kindness can change someone’s life.

I guarantee it will change yours as well.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 17th day of March, 2016.

It is going to be a solemn St. Patrick’s Day for me with the recent passing of our sweet Penny.

My four-legged Grand-puppy …..

She has, and will always be in our thoughts.

It is always difficult to proceed after the passing of a loved one.

The first steps are always the hardest.

Seems strange to be going to work but it must be done.

Definitely is not an easy time.

I keep telling myself it is okay to be okay.

It is okay to smile and to be okay.

Your strength is what pushes us on.

Keeps us going.

Penny is not my first loss, and unfortunately will not be the last.

We grieve in our own ways.

It is most difficult for Penny’s Mom and Dad and for Elton.

She was a part of their daily lives ….. everything reminds them of her ….

It will be a long process but they will heal over time.

With the memories of her sweet face and her energy filling their thoughts.

I am grateful to my friends and family at this time for their support and kind words.

I hope that today is a good day for you.

May the sun shine down upon you on this St. Patty’s Day of 2016.

May your life bring you smiles and laughter.

May the memories be a reminder of goodness and light.

Happy Thursday …..

Special Hello to: all the little angels …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Afternoon, today is an overwhelmingly  sad day for our family as our beloved Penny passed away.

We still cannot believe that she is gone, and will her miss her forever.

She had been diagnosed with kidney disease not long ago,  and also had a  known heart murmur.

But this day came all to fast for us.

When our four-legged darlings come into our lives we do not think of that day …. the time when they will no longer be with us.

We love them with all our heart.

Penny came into our family quite by accident by one fall back in 2005.

My daughter found her in a small town general store, and fell in love with the bundle of fur … who later was named Penny Lane.

She had a brother later named Parker.

Penny was adopted by my daughter and son-in-law and Parker by one of their friends.

She instantly became a sister for Elton whom they had adopted the year before ……

Penny loved to be outside ….. loved go on walks ….. she really loved life.

My kids were the best parents ever to both Penny and to  Elton.

They went on family vacations to the mountains and to the lake.

Penny loved to investigate things wherever she was …..

She loved to EAT ….. I would say that food was her passion.

Bananas were her favourite treat.

I am not sure how she managed it but she would jump up onto a kitchen chair any chance she got ….. just to see what was on the table.

There was the odd time that she managed to get up onto the table …. making for some excitement and laughter.

Penny and Elton would come for sleepovers to my house and later on when I adopted Alvin they became the three amigos.

Trouble, trouble and trouble.

But they truly loved each other.

She also loved to get into things ….. like kleenex ….. loved to shred it …..

Our Penny had no trouble speaking her mind, and that was evident when she would jump up onto the chair by the living room window and announce to us who was going by outside.

She was sweet, loving and gentle.

I would like to share some photos from over the years…
