Last Half 2022 – November

Good Morning ALL! Well here we are at another Monday morning. More snow! I think that we are going to break some records this year for snow. Seems like every day it is snowing. Shovelling and more shovelling. This morning my neighbour shovelled our sidewalks before she left for work. I am working from home so I will shovel after work or perhaps at lunch break. I hope that we get some days where Alvin and I can head out for a walk even if it is a short one.

I am happy that Mr. Alvin has now started to do his business on the deck in the layers and layers of snow. Easier for me to see and to clean up and I do not have to worry about him jumping off the deck onto the hard frozen ground/snow.

Yesterday morning two of my friends came over for coffee. We had so much to talk about work, home, the state of the world. There was much chatter happening and even some laughter along the way. Much better than “tears” for sure. Another wonderful visit with these dear friends of mine. G was heading out to the grocery store in the afternoon so I tagged along as it had been over a month since I had been to the store. I had a few things picked up by my daughter and friends but not been for a serious grocery shop. I even found a sale on chocolate chips and evaporated milk and mini marshmallows so I have some of my Christmas baking supplies. Funny how a little trip to the grocery store can feel like a huge outing!

I baked some sweet potatoes, onions and carrots for supper with a piece of Highliner Cod. Honestly I do not remember the last time I had fish. Was so tasty. Tonight I am baking a Hamburger Quiche which uses YVES Mexican blend (meatless) instead of ground beef. I will have that to eat from for most of the week.

Time to head downstairs and turn on the coffee. Have a wonderful day.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and coffee.

Always, Carol & Alvin

PS: will download/upload some photos of the Xmas Decorations tomorrow.

The New YEAR 2022

Good Morning ALL! How are you this Friday morning? It is Friday thank goodness. I am ready for a nice quiet weekend. I shovelled about a foot from the deck and out front a little while ago. It just started to snow again. Does that not figure somehow? Oh well, it is March in Western Canada and we usually get snow. At least it is fluffy and easy to shovel so that is a good thing. I was sweeping it from spots on the deck throughout the day and evening. All the snow that melted has now accumulated once again. The rooftops that were bare a few days ago are now covered. The sky is white this morning to match the ground cover. I do love how gloriously white the snow is. Hard to imagine that it is so white. Okay enough about snow.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to mention this or not but I will as it is important. Last night I received a text from one of our friends advising that both of her pups have lice. We were last in contact on Saturday. So I googled dogs and lice. Not very impressive list of things to do. First off, I removed everything -blankets, his sweater, his harness, dog bed covers and put them into a hot washing cycle. Then I took Mr. Alvin up and gave him a bath. Then I took a break and went outside and did some shovelling. Once back in the house the one load of wash was done so I popped in the second set of sheets that I should have washed last weekend but I was busy and decided that I did not need them, who knew. Thankfully this happened after we had an early supper. I washed the towels from his bath. Spent the night with the phone flashlight poring over him looking for something that I did not wish to find. He has not been scratching so hopefully that is a positive sign and I will hold myself to that thought. I will also keep an eye out. So that was my Thursday night. Best part of the evening was shovelling snow, argh.

So morning came extra early this morning as it was quite late or late for us when we got to bed. I had to do a bit of reading before I turned out the lights.

We never know what is going to come our way. I hope that our doggie friends are feeling better – they have medicine and of course, the best parents to look after them. They were doing laundry as well. Our friend got the news as they had taken the pups to the groomers. What a surprise for the groomer although I am sure that happens more times than not. It might explain a lot of things.

I hope that you have a lovely Friday.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 2nd day of May, 2019.

Well this is what we woke up to at 3:30 a.m. today ……

Photos were taken a few minutes ago just after 6:00 a.m.

The temperature is to be +10 degree celsius so it will once again melt by the time that I reach home.

Or at least I am hopefully.

The moisture is good.

Sometimes you just feel in your very being that all is being purged.

All the bad stuff.

All the unnecessary junk.

A lightness is in your heart that feels as though life is given a second chance.

Sometimes it does feel as though you have control over life.

Anyway I know I am being cryptic but not my place to give details.

Just so happy that all is well ….

So on this Thursday I am feeling so extra blessed.

Alvin and I enjoyed a beautiful walk last night.

After the bad roads and multiple accidents near and around the City of Edmonton; I did not think that we would be walking.

But the temperature warmed up throughout the day and was pretty much all melted by the time that I got home from work.

We saw a muskrat in the pond by our home.

Swimming away.

We saw a goose wandering about.

A duck enjoying a swim.

One singles were out and about, I guess.

We also bumped into a young couple out walking their pup whom we have met before and pup is almost 17 years old.

Still lots of energy and grit.

We met a young pup named Miso (after the soup).

Miso was so full of energy …. at first Mr. Alvin played and sniffed to get to know the young one.

After a few minutes he was “done” or so I thought and then they were playing again.

I enjoyed this encounter.

Always nice to meet new people and pups.

Well almost time to head out of the door.

My ride came early yesterday with the roads so am thinking the same today.

I hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Happy Thursday.

Remember “gratitude” is the answer.

Yes, it is.

Special Hello to:  all our family ….. near and far ……. we love you all.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 15th day of April, 2017.

SNOW, SNOW and more snow.

That is what is happening here in Edmonton.

It has been snowing pretty much steadily since early early Friday morning.

Looks like I will be shovelling again and again.

The snow was so heavy that when I pushed it along the deck with the shovel and removed said shovel it stayed in a roll.

Instant snow roll ….

Last night one of my friends and neighbours came for a visit.

I always enjoy our visits.

She has had her own business for over 30 years.

There is always something I learn during our time together.

This time it was how Mothers in the wild quieten their pups …..

Interesting.

They just firmly hold their mouths shut.

Not hurting them ….

They tell them in a low growl …. to be quiet.

Now this is for safety against predators.

Mommas have to hunt and are forced to leave their young ones alone.

She also brought me some beautiful flowers.

So thoughtful.

Well today other than going for groceries and shovelling it will be a quiet day.

Our trip to my daughter’s will wait for another day as my poor girl has that dreadful cold bug that is going around.

I think shovelling will be keeping me busy …..

Maybe I will do some baking ….. I have some flax seed to use up.

So on this snowy Saturday I hope that you are enjoying your long weekend, as are we.

Happy Easter Weekend.

Special Hello to: my sister and “G” who are globe trotting and are leaving Peru for Las Vegas, today…..Safe Travels.

Always, Carol and Alvin
