Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 13th day of March, 2017.

YAY, it is warming up.

I do believe that possibly spring is actually coming sooner than later.

So happy.

We set our clocks ahead by one hour early Sunday morning.

Feels like we lost an hour ….. yes, we did.

Yesterday Alvin and I had a wonderful birthday celebration for our “A.”

She loved the decorations, Chocolate Oreo Cheesecake Cupcakes and Chocolate Fudge Cupcakes with my special vanilla icing and her gifts.

I made her three necklaces and Alvin gave her chocolate.

How does a guy always know???

We laughed and had a great visit.

Our neighbour “S” joined us.

After the party we took the pups for a nice walk.

Alvin had to take the lead.

Baby Milo had to walk beside her Aspen.

So cute.

Nice to have a walk.

Well back to work.

Glad to see the temperatures rising.

It will mean that we can go for walks.

Most of the neighbours have shovelled the front walks so that will be nice when it starts to melt tomorrow.

I hope that you had a wonderful Sunday.

Remember make the choice to live a happy, fun, abundant life.

Happy Monday.

Special Hello to: my sister …… perhaps we can SKYPE next Sunday?  Have to talk about your visit in August??

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 5th day of February, 2017.

The sky is white.

Rooftops are white.

Ground is white.

No sign of the sun.

Appears to be cold.

This is Sunday morning.

The house feels full once again with the arrival of Mr. Alvin back home.

I am grateful to his sister, my daughter and his brother-in-law, my son-in-law for taking such great wonderful care of my boy for the time away from home.

We sometimes feel like an old married couple.

We miss each other when we are apart but when once again together we fall into the old routine quickly.

He barks and I said say “no barking.”

Does he listen “no.”

Does he get his own way “yes.”

When he is away – I do not sleep well.

But when he is home – he lays next to me, and I sleep.

We are happy together.

Just this way.

I had a wonderful visit with my daughter and it is never long enough.

Usually when she comes over – I have errands to run so she lends me their car.

This shortens our time together.

I am grateful for every moment with my daughter.

She is the very best “being” I know.

The past couple of weekends I have been making necklaces like crazy.

Just feeling creative.

I have a big bowl of beads nearby and just create.

Last night I made two more.

Well the weekend is winding down.

Still some things to do around the house to prepare for the week.

I am happy, feeling very blessed to have this life ….

Happy Sunday Everyone ….

Special Hello to: YOU

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the Day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 16th day of January, 2017.

Our weather feels like spring ….. a reprieve from the deep freeze of the past couple of weeks.

So grateful.

Yesterday Alvin and I enjoyed yet another wonderful extra long walk.

Sun shine ….. so great.

There was a bit of a breeze.

I have not had the “creative feeling” for making jewellery in a long while and when it started to flow yesterday; well I sat right down, and started to make some new pieces.

At one point Mr. Alvin jumped up on the sofa (had to be beside me) and stuck his head in a bowl filled with coloured beads.

(Normally I do not sit on the sofa and make jewellery but the coffee table made the perfect spot to set my things).

When he brought his nose out along came several small seed beads.

There were seed beads flying through the air and all over the floor.

It was so funny … I could not be mad.

I don’t think he inhaled any as he did not sneeze or appear out of sorts afterward.

It was definitely a sight for sure.

It is always nice to be creative.

I love to write, make jewellery and from time to time do craft projects.

Nothing better than creating something.

That was my Sunday …… exercise, laughter and a creative mindset.

Also I received a surprise phone call from one of my friends back home.

It was so great to catch up with her.

P.S. Forgot to mention I found out where the missing bus shelter went, did I mention that “my” bus shelter went missing.

Apparently a young woman took it out with her car.

They have replaced it with an old one but something is better than nothing (especially when it is windy or snowing).

Happy Monday Everyone.

Special Hello to: all those people in the world who like to make things.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 13th day of October, 2016.

Seems like night when I look out the window and see nothing but darkness.

Oh, I guess I can see the reflection of someone’s tail lights as they are “warming” up the truck.

Yesterday was so nice.

Alvin and I enjoyed our walk so much.

I recently found out that all of the fountains in our neighbour are still on and going strong.

We still have a bit of snow remaining on people’s lawns and rooftops.

Back to last night.

Got home from work, Alvin did his routine, I got changed and we went for a walk.

Dropped off a container at my friend’s house.

Came home returned a phone call and made another one.

Submitted a tea party on the computer and was just emailing a friend when the doorbell rang.

It was my friend “P” who has the most beautiful English garden.

Always thinking of Mr. Alvin – she had a couple of treats with her for him.

She is travelling with her husband next week back to England to see her family and was wondering if I had some jewellery.

It was so off guard ….. but I had some pieces for sale.

She purchased several necklaces and a couple of rings.

We had a nice visit while she was trying on necklaces.

After she left I had supper which was about 7:30 p.m. ( my baked potato was well done ).

Crazy busy night but full of great surprises.

I am very grateful for surprises.

So they are forecasting snow flurries for this afternoon.

I hope that Mother Nature finds it in her heart to keep those flurries down to a minimum.

We can only hope.

Much too early for winter …..

It would be nice for the weather to be good for Halloween.

Well almost time to get this trolley on the road.

Now I am referring to myself as a trolley …. okay truly am getting old.

Yikes.

I hope that you all have an awesome day chalked full of wonderful surprises.

Thank you Universe for sweet surprises.

Special Hello to: my sister …. soon, very soon.  Perhaps Sunday??

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 19th day of July, 2015.

WOW, another bright, sunny, breezy morning here in Edmonton.

It is a glorious morning.

When I looked out at the front and back yards this morning I realized that I did not mow the grass.

I was so concentrated on the inside yesterday I forgot about the outside.

Perhaps after supper will have time to give it a quick hair cut.

Doesn’t take long ……

The flowers are looking awesome ….

It was so nice to have the rain ….. they do love it fresh from the heavens.

BUT today is a great day because my daughter is coming for a visit.

YAY ….. I love having her over …..

I am not going to tell Mr. Alvin just yet as he will get too excited.

When I tell him he will sit at the window and watch for her car.

He knows her car.

He will jump off the chair.

Run to the back door.

Look out the back door (which has long window).

Usually bark as he wants to go out and greet her.

Then go and wait for her to come in through the garage at the back of our house.

He is too cute.

I am almost too excited to write …. okay I am …. gotta go and get the coffee ready and stuff.

I hope that you all have an awesome day and have had a productive day with time to relax.

Last night was awesome we had a walk and then watched a movie between making some necklaces.

YAY …..

I am babbling ……

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to:  all those Moms and Daughter out there.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 6th day of August, 2013.

Wow at 5:00 a.m. this morning it was still dark out and by 5:30 the sky started to lighten and now at 6:20 the sun is rising.

It is going to be a beautiful day here in Edmonton.

I had a great long weekend.

My daughter and I worked on our jewellery and between us both we made 15 necklaces and two pair of earrings.

So rewarding to do something you love with someone you love.

Double gratification.

I cannot stress how important it is to find your passion and go after it.

Doesn’t matter what it is …. just do it.

If you love looking at the stars, then do it.

If you love reading one new book each month, then do it.

If you love animals volunteer at the local Human Society.

If you love children volunteer at your local hospital.

If you love creating …. then make something.

Doesn’t matter what it is…. just do it.

So on this wonderful Tuesday ….. I almost said Monday …. ENJOY.

Special Hello to:  all those people who go after their dreams …… thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

P.S. I set up a separate post for the story that I am creating day by day.  It will be reposted each day that I write with one new line.  It is so much fun never knowing where it will go.

One Sunday afternoon ….

Yesterday afternoon my six year old friend from a few doors down named Lea called me to see if she could come over for a visit.

I could tell that she was bored.  Some weeks she calls more often than others.  She has a little sister named Mahee-Lee, and a little brother named David.

But she is the big sister through and through.

I suppose that I can identify with her as I am the eldest of my siblings.  Sometimes you just need to get away.

It was funny as I asked her what she was doing and she said “putting on her boots” ….. guess she knew that this time I would say “YES”.

When Lea arrived Alvin did his usual greeting …… he loves his Lea.  So he has to jump up and try to give her a kiss.  It usually takes a few minutes for her to get her boots, coat, mitts and hat off when Alvin is the meet and greeter…. LOL.

Once she was settled, as I had mentioned on the phone “I was working, making some jewelry” and then asked her “if she would like to make a bracelet”.

Of course, she said a resounding “Yes, please” with a huge smile attached.  So I chose some beads for her and cut her a piece of  stretch cord to make the bracelet.

I continued with the necklace that I was making.  We chatted up a storm during our jewelry making session.

We had a couple of “accidents” with one being a tray of beads spilled onto the floor.  We both scrambled to pick them up before Alvin got to them.

But surprisingly enough, Alvin didn’t even flinch ….. just wasn’t interested in “our beads”.  So we were relieved.

Once Lea had her bracelet finished, I asked her if she would like to make herself a necklace.  She was so excited.

More beads and time later, she asked if I would help her finish the necklace.  I guess it seemed a daunting task for a six year old.

So I worked on one side and her on the other.

We quickly finished it.  It was coming close to 3:00 p.m. and she had to run home.  Lea and her family were going to the “YM” for an outing.

It was a fun couple of hours with my little friend, Lea.

She is so grown up for a six year old.  Lea makes me laugh.

It was a great afternoon and I even made a necklace and matching bracelet in between the laughter and beads rolling on the floor….  🙂
