Last Half 2022 – October

Good Morning ALL! Welcome to October 2022. The sun is shining brightly and the temperature for today is to be +22 celsius and 24+ for tomorrow and in the low 20’s for the following couple of days. Great weather for October and I love it. The sky is a great sunshiny blue. Is that a colour, well today it is!

Alvin and I had a quiet Friday. I was happy that he was able to go for a nice walk and did not appear to be in any obvious pain.

Today is the Birthday of a neighbour’s son who was 8 years old when I moved in back in 2009. Happy Birthday Kahlia. He is now a grown man. I cannot believe he is 21 years old. WOW, time flies. I have lived in this place, this house, this city for 13 years now and will be 14 next year.

Well I have been adding to my list with some final outdoor chores. I still do not want to put away the patio furniture but I do want to wash the deck and porch. Easier to do when they are bare. Perhaps I will look ahead to next weekend which will be another long weekend, Thanksgiving. Oooo, pumpkin pie. I love pumpkin pie.

I have lots of apples to prepare. Sounds like some apple crisps and apple muffins in the near future. Perhaps apple sauce? I need to go to the grocery store as I am totally out of brown sugar and a few other things some that are required to do this baking and others just need. On my TO DO LIST.

Alvin needs a bath. He has a vet visit on Tuesday afternoon so I will give him one tomorrow afternoon.

I love this time of year but I will admit that I have been a bit tired the past few days. Perhaps the years of getting up at random times during the night has caught up with me, maybe. Sometimes, I find that in the fall, when the weather starts to cool, that I feel the need to “hibernate,” to sleep more. So I am going to chalk sleepiness up to just that.

Photos out of our bedroom window this morning. The leaves are turning. Not as crisp photos as if I went outside but it is was a last minute idea.

Time to head downstairs and get this day going. I need coffee. Alvlin is bored.

Have a wonderful Saturday.

Continuing to life with life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and COFFEE.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time

Good Morning …. Tuesday it is.

Dark out and that will be our reality for the next few months as we enter winter.

Yesterday was a crazy day.

Started out with my carpool not going in to work.

Grateful that I was able to catch a ride to work with Humphrey’s Mom.

So grateful.

I was prepared as I had a winter coat and boots out and ready to wear.

When catching the bus you have to be prepared for anything weatherwise.

When I got to work I was pleasantly surprised just outside the office building by the approach of a man.

The man turned out to be my brother from another mother.

He feels like my younger brother.

In fact, I quite often refer to him as such.

We used to work together and he is such a nice guy.

It was wonderful to see him and catch up.

Throughout the day it was busy.

At 3:45 p.m. the fire alarm went off in our building.

The alarm is deafening.

I grabbed my phone, purse and coat (not in that order).

Not realizing until I was outside that my house keys were in my big bag.

Four fire trucks came out to the call.

We waited semi patiently outside in the freezing cold and wind for the all clear to go back inside.

I did think to text Humphrey’s Mom and thankfully she was able to come over and let Alvin outside and feed him.

I had no idea of how long it was going to take before we could go back in.

It was almost twenty minutes later before we got the call.

The other half of the building is under construction / renovations.

This is not the first time the alarm has gone off and was not a test.

Once given the go ahead I rushed back into the building and up the stairs.

Got to my desk.

Turned off the computer.

Put on my boots, grabbed the big bag (checked for house keys), threw my purse inside the bag and ran to the bathroom.

Cause everyone knows when you get cold you have to pee.

Yup, I said that word.

Once done, I made a hasty exit of the building and walked as fast as I could for the bus stop.

I was pretty certain that I was going to be late but held out hope that I would make it.

At least at the end of it all – Alvin was fed and let outside.

So I did not have to worry about him.

Luckily I managed to get not the first bus but the next one.

We passed the first one at some point and I only had to wait at the bus terminal for a few moments.

Even got home near the same time as usual when I catch the bus.

Whew.

So grateful …..

Well almost time to head downstairs.

That was my Monday.

Today will be quiet and easy.

Let us hope.

With kindness and respect, I shall get through each day.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 23rd day of September, 2016.

Second day of Autumn for 2016.

We had a bit of rain overnight and this morning.

I will be taking my umbrella just in case.

So grateful for such wonderful neighbours.

One of my neighbours was home yesterday so she came over and let Mr. Alvin outside into the back yard for a bathroom break, visited with him and gave him a couple of treats.

Thank you “S” ….. we are so grateful to have you as a neighbour.

Sometimes when you are having a bit of a pity party.

Sit down, lay down or just stand there and close your eyes.

If you gave it even a second of thought you would realize that you have so much to be grateful for …..

Well I am running late and the bus will not wait.

I hope that you all have a great Friday.

Keep dry, warm, cool and happy – wherever you reside on this beautiful amazing planet of ours.

Happy Friday.

Thank you.

Special Hello to: my friends back home.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 22nd day of July, 2016.

It is sightly cool but super refreshing with a low hanging cloud bank to the south and sun coming up bright and boldly to the east.

There are birds chirping and cars humming down the highway …. for some reason this morning the sound is magnified.

We were up extra early as my friend left this morning for home.

The house seems empty without our company.

Oh, yesterday she whipped up a batch of vegetable soup before she went to visit her brother for the day.

How many people in between things just whip up a batch of soup?

I am so blessed.

One of my neighbours is away so she asked me to take all of the fresh produce home and use up.

So my friend knew I was concerned about some items spoiling before I could use it all.

So she made me a big pot of soup.

The house smelled incredible when I got home from work yesterday.

I shall miss her and both Alvin and myself will treasure this visit always.

I love having company.

Sister, do you hear me!!!

Today the latest in the Star Trek series of movies is coming out.

I would love to go and see it but the theatre will be crazy busy so I will wait and hopefully I can see it at the theatre before it leaves.

That movie is always great to see on the BIG screen.

Tonight one of my neighbours is having an Open House for her Steeped Tea business.

She signed up under me so to speak.

So I want to support her and will go over for her Open House.

We have a pancake breakfast at work today and I will be leaving to attend it shortly.

Once the breakfast is over we can go to the parade for our city’s exhibition/fair or just go home.

I am electing to go home as I have a list a million yards long to get started with …..

There be tea tasting and garage sale and laundry in my future.

Mostly all fun.

Well time to get this show on the road.

I am so grateful that I was able to host my friend’s visit to Edmonton.

Happy Friday everyone.

Special Hello to: all those people visiting family and friends, thank you.
