Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 9th day of February, 2018.

Happy 41st Birthday to my eldest nephew “T.”

Hard to believe that you are 41 years old, where has the time gone?

Crazy ….

So happy that today is Friday and that I made it through this first week back to work after being sick.

Tomorrow is Mr. Alvin’s appointment.

The one that was post phoned from last Saturday.

He has to get his shots, nails trimmed, “bum squeezed” and I think that is about it.

Will be good to get those things caught up.

I do take him on a very regular basis.

Also this weekend I am hosting a belated 40 Birthday party for my friend.

It was supposed to have been last weekend, as well.

I am baking a cake tonight.

The party will be on Sunday.

Decorations, I want to come up with some new ideas.

Perhaps I should check out Pinterest.

Have the card and gift to finish wrapping.

Well I am also most happy about this …. the weather.

It is warming up one again.

Thank goodness.

Spring is also getting closer.

Well I guess I should get this show on the road.

I hope that you have an amazing day.

Oh, one more thing to share.

I met a young woman yesterday who gave me back my faith in humanity.

I cannot give details but suffice to say …. I have faith once again.

Not that I lost it altogether but it was failing.

Special Hello to: the birthday boy.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 17th day of December, 2017.

One week from today is Christmas Eve.

WOW, how did that happen.

The days are getting shorter and shorter until the 21st and then they will start to get longer once again.

Going to work in the dark and coming home the same ….. just seems like you do not have any time.

We are so spoiled to have a good portion of the year with lots of daylight.

This day, December 17th, 2017 – we have very little snow remaining and the temperatures have been on the plus side for most of the month.

Cards were mailed and delivered, baking completed and almost all delivered, gifts well they are a work in progress.

Let’s see what last year held:

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 17th day of December, 2016.

Only 7 sleeps until Christmas Eve.

A bitterly frosty cold morning here in Edmonton with a windchill of minus 30 degrees celsius.

Guess what they are forecasting minus 9 degrees celsius by tomorrow morning with a high of minus 3 degrees celsius for Sunday and guess what for Monday?

PLUS ONE …… with snow flurries and possible freezing rain.

How crazy within twenty-four hours we go from minus 30 to minus 3.

Oh well ….. next week is supposed to be relatively nice with single digit temperatures except for Friday when it dips to minus eleven.

The sky is so pretty this morning with hues of pinks and yellows.

The chimney smoke wrapping itself into the colour and disappearing into the sky.

Last night Mr. Alvin decided to wake up before 3:00 a.m. – I think perhaps his poor front paws are bothering him.

More than likely arthritis ….. he has started to lick them a lot.

He is now on some chewy glucosamine.

Will give it another week and then see where we are at.

Could also just be in part to the fact that we really have not walked for two weeks other than down the street to my friend’s which took all of three minutes.

I think he also has been sleeping too much as a result.

Perhaps his jumping off the bed days are numbered.

So am going to spend time training him to jump off on the cushioned stool that is at the foot of our bed.

He uses it to jump up but not to jump down.

My poor boy.

Last night one of my neighbour’s had invited me over for a visit.

I dared not tell him where I was going or he would have been upset that he was not going.

They have a family member who has allergies so he cannot visit inside the house.

However they love him and in the summer we visit outside with them all the time.

All I have to do is to mention their names and he gets very excited.

If they are outside working in their garden and we are walking by he makes a bee-line to cross the street to see them.

We had a nice visit.

Today I have laundry and some baking to do.

Also I have to return a call from my great nephew … he heard my voice message and was giggling when he left his message.

He said “Grandma, er I mean Anta, this is “A”, can you call me back.” …… with little laughs and giggles, so cute.

Get my Christmas gifts ready for the kids.

We are doing the reuse items idea.

Find something from around your house that you do not need and that they might want.

I know what I am giving my son-in-law but have too many ideas for my daughter.

It is a good way to stay within a budget and also to reuse things that are sitting idle.

Tonight I am going out for supper to a nearby restaurant with two of my younger girl friends.

So excited …

We decided not to exchange gifts and instead to go out for supper and visit.

This year is full of changes.

Just thinking wonder who won the Lotto MAX, if there was a winner ….. oh maybe it was me.

Can you imagine?

OH my that would be crazy to have $55 million dollars.

Happy days ahead …..for sure.

Tomorrow to end the weekend I am baking sugar cookies for one of my young friends who I promised if she bought the ingredients I would make them.

So I will be mixing, rolling, baking and icing cookies tomorrow.

Well time to get the laundry started so that my under wear is dry for tonight.

Yes, I did say that.

It is the truth and it is funny.

Well as the bright sunshine streams through my office window, I shall say good-bye for today.

With gladness of warming temperatures so that Alvin and I can walk.

Actually tomorrow will be baking cookies and WALKING WITH me ALVIN.

Happy Saturday ….

Be safe, keep warm and enjoy the weekend.

Always nice to look back and remember and then keep moving forward

Special Hello to: ALL ….. Merry Christmas.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 11th day of November, 2017.

Today as we should every day think of those brave women and men who gave up their lives for our freedoms.

Not only to keep us safe but so that we have a multitude of FREEDOMS.

Freedom of speech.

Freedom to practice one’s religion or not.

Freedom to be who we are free from persecution.

Freedom to live, love and play.

We thank them with who we are and with what we do each day.

By working, by contributing to society and by being good citizens of this country and of the world.

Thank you.

Today is the birthday of my very special nephew “T” …… he has a warm, soft heart and I love him.

I have known him since his Mom, my friend had him growing in her tummy.

Happy Birthday buddy and I hope that you have a special, special day.

I will be calling you today ……

Alvin and I are puppy sitting shortly so have to get ready.

Let us all take us some today to be grateful for all that we have and for all that we are ….

If it were not for the bravery of others we would not enjoy what most of us take for granted today.

Have a great Saturday.

Special Hello to: my nephew “T.”  Happy Birthday

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 21st day of August, 2017.

Well today is the last day of vacation for this girl.

Man, I have loved every last minute of it.

Alvin and I are just getting ready to take a little walk to his Vet and pick up some food for the guy.

Cannot run out of food for sure.

The ECLIPSE will happen in just a bit over one hour so need to get busy here.

Do not wish to be outside when it happens.

I wish that I had the glasses to wear to observe it but alas I do not.

So will watch it on television.

So on this Monday ….. I am so grateful that during my vacation I was able to spend time with my sister, both of my brothers, my eldest nephew and his family, so many of my friends, old neighbours that came back to

visit me and Alvin, and my “niece” and her family from Saskatchewan and MY daughter, son-in-law and grand-pups.

Without my daughter and her family all of this would not have been possible.  So grateful for their love and support.

It was great to be able to take in High Tea in the Hotel Selkirk at Fort Edmonton Park with my daughter and sister.

We had so much fun riding on the carousel and the girls on the high swing.

The weather was great.

I was terribly spoiled by attention and gifts for the past two weeks.

So much so,I am overwhelmed with blessings and gratitude.

Time to get this show on the road before the “light” goes out.

Have an awesome day and DO NOT look at the ECLIPSE without special eyewear.

Special Hello to: my family and friends.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 9th day of August, 2017.

Well the day has finally arrived.

I am officially 60 years old.

Last night my daughter, son-in-law and grand-pups joined me, my sister and youngest brother for the birthday celebration.

I was happy to make supper for everyone and enjoy it all with my family in my own home.

Oh and Mr. Alvin, cannot forget him.

Earlier in the day my nephew, his wife and three sons stopped by for a visit.

Today we are getting ready to go to Fort Edmonton Park.

Well I have to go but will give details more later.

I have to thank my co-worker “C” for making me such a delicious birthday cake (carrot cake with cream cheese icing).

Have an awesome day.

Special Hello to: All you Birthday folks out there.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to the 8th day of August, 2017.

The skies are overcast but the weather channel had forecasted sunny skies for today (last night’s report).

I hope that the sun shines.

Lots of birthdays today …..

Happy Birthday to:  Niece-in-law “S”,  little “A”, cousin “T” and my dear friend “K”

August is a huge birthday month in my family and with several of my friends.

My friend “K” celebrates her birthday today and mine tomorrow.

We are almost ready for all the company descending upon us today.

Some dropping by for a visit while in the area visiting in-laws.

My brother will arrive from Calgary later this afternoon.

Started the prep work for supper so that I am prepared.

Bedding changed for a change in the guest room occupant.

Alvin is loving having the company.

Wonder what he will think when my nephew and his family arrive?

Happy Tuesday.

Have a great day.

Excited to see everyone …..

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Tuesday, August 8th, 2017 and it is the day before my 60th Birthday.

Wow, the time really has flown.

It has been quite the experience trying to come up with new things relating to me and my life for each post for 60 days.

There are so many August Birthdays between Family and Friends that it almost fills up my birthday calendar.

I am hosting my birthday supper this evening and am excited.

Cooking some of my family’s favourites.

One of my co-workers bakes cakes so I asked her to do mine for me.

She dropped it off at the house yesterday.

It is gorgeous.

Will post some photos tomorrow.

Carrot cake – my favourite and I cannot wait to dig in.

My sister’s son and family are unexpectedly in the area so they will be dropping by for a visit this afternoon.

My brother from Calgary will be arriving later this afternoon.

My daughter, son-in-law and grand-puppies will be coming for supper.

Cannot wait.

Well time to get going.

Tomorrow is all about photos.

Life in photos ……

Always, Carol

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 7th day of August, 2017.

The sky is partially overcast here in Edmonton and we have already had a rain shower this morning.

The household is up and going already ……

Alvin had me up early and we were later going to bed.

But that is nothing new.

It has been great having my sister staying with us.

Yesterday we enjoyed our time at West Edmonton Mall and luckily were there early before the holiday weekend crowds began to show up.

Once early afternoon hit it was crazy busy with people scurrying about and by that time we were done so we grabbed a bus and came home.

Alvin was happy that we were not away for a long time.

Today we have some grocery shopping to do for the BIRTHDAY PARTY tomorrow night.

My brother arrives tomorrow night and also my sister’s son and family will be dropping in at some point as well.

It was unexpected for them as they were attending a wedding in Calgary but when my nephew had an extra week off from work they decided to come this way.

My nephew’s wife has a brother in a nearby smaller city not far from Edmonton.

So it all works out.

I am excited to see their three sons.

The eldest and I used to do everything together as I was living nearby from the time he was in his Momma’s tummy until I moved to Edmonton.

The next two were born after I moved to Edmonton and the elder of the two I saw only twice and the little guy, not once.

So it will be great to see them and catch up.

Of course, we have SKYPED before so I am not a total surprise to them.

Well time to get this show on the road as I have to prepare my shopping list.

Some housework to do today …… maybe a bit of decorating ……. a few streamers and balloons.

Have an awesome long weekend if you are lucky to have one …..

If not, I hope your Monday is a good one.

Special Hello to: all those folks celebrating a birthday on this day.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 5th day of August, 2017.

The sky was sunny earlier but clouds have come rolling in just a little bit.

But inside our house the atmosphere is BRIGHT as my dear sister arrived for a visit last night.

My daughter and I met her at the airport.

We were waiting patiently at the ARRIVALS gate but we did not realize that she was on a small prop plane and they walked in from the tarmac and did not come through the regular arrival gate.

But we did hook up …… so happy she has arrived.

Now the fun can begin …..

We had to sleep in as we were both exhausted after working for the day and then she flew here and of course we were up later.

But time to get this PARTY started.

Sounds like we will have some additional company as my nephew, his wife and three sons will be stopping by at some point.

My nephew will join us on our sibling road trip to see our other brother.

Keeping this short today.

I hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to: all my fellow bloggers ….

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 22nd day of July, 2017.

Today is the birthday of my nephew “Z” who is twenty-three years old.

Happy Birthday.

Hard to believe all of the babies are now all grown up.

As the days evaporate and come closer to my birthday in August, I have been writing about my life experiences whether wishes or actual.

This has been quite the trip thus far.

I would tell you all one things about this experience about writing down my experiences, my loves, about family, taking each year and acknowledging a memory, just anything and everything that your children and family would be interesting in knowing as time goes on and most certainly after you have left this earth.

Whether you grab a notebook or create a blog, writing down history and memories is so important for future generations.

What a wonderful gift ……

Well time to get this day going before it warms up ….. I want to have the house all in order before my company arrives in August.

Happy Saturday ….

Special Hello to: all those people visiting family this summer ….

Always, Carol & Alvin
