Last Half 2022 – August

Good Morning ALL! How are you this morning. We are well. Up at 3:00 to go outside for a bathroom break – not me, you silly, Mr. Alvin. My funny for the moment. I could see the stars or at least a few along with some satellites. The air was cool which was refreshing. I was shocked to see the temperature on the main floor was “69” degrees fahrenheit. Upstairs not sure. We then hit the sofa for a few more hours and were up shortly after 6:00 (yes, I hit the snooze button, but only once). Then up and gave Mr. Alvin his breakfast. I am so happy that he loves his new wet food. He has always been a foodie and will pretty much eat anything you put in front of him so one has to be careful. At the end of the day, I am very grateful that he did not turn his nose up at the new food. Not sure what I would have done. Then the usual things readied the coffee pot, made our bed including putting the decorator pillows back on and our few special stuffies (previously were Amanda’s) and I had a shower. Now I don’t have a shower everyday. Really unless you have been outside rolling around in the dirt, or covered in bug spray or sweating from working outside then every second day or so, works fine. I usually use my hair as an indicator. Now I am here writing/typing/keying these words.

I can hear the loud hum of cars, trucks and other motor vehicles on the highway which surrounds the City of Edmonton. People going somewhere. The breeze wafting in through my open office window is delectable. Also I have learned over this heat wave and since the temperatures have dropped so much during the evening as of late, that if I leave the main floor windows open, the main floor cools off and then I leave all the windows upstairs open as well. We have not had rain in the forecast for a few days.

We are going to go for a walk this morning. Yesterday morning we were really late leaving the house but had time for a good walk, not the full one we have been doing but I figured if we are out and about breathing in that fresh morning air, then the length is immaterial. After all, it is Mr. Alvin sniffing every secret “fragrance” along the way that is truly what is important. As he ages, he has definitely slowed down and truly “smells the roses.” No longer does he rush ahead of me to see what is ahead, he stays close by and smells everything. He does love the rose bushes by the park. He makes me happy. What a guy!

We certainly can learn a thing or two from our four-legged buddies.

Well today after work someone is coming to pick up the scrapbooking and craft items that I sold to her. It is time to keep only what I am going to use and not everything that I am not. I am excited for someone to have them.

Over the summer, I have been selling and giving away items and even trading some items to just simplify my life. Less is more. Honestly western society, most especially North America has been smitten over the last many decades with materialism. The more stuff the better. Well it is that stuff that is clogging our lakes, rivers and filling the oceans. Time to stop. We do not need all these things. After all, you cannot take it with you. Food for thought.

I hope that you have an awesome day.

Time for a walk. Reflection and fresh air.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and coffee.

Always, Carol & Alvin

PS: thank you for your time and I appreciate you reading these posts.

2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you doing today? We are good. Can you believe that it is Friday again? WOW. Time definitely passes more quickly with each passing day. Just means that we have to make the most of each one. That is definitely a reminder to myself. The sun was shining earlier but there appear to be a bit of cloud in the southern sky this morning. We did not get much rain mostly cloud cover the past few days. That is sad for sure. It is pretty dry out there. There is a breeze this morning. The forecast is for +20 degrees celsius today. How about that! I looked at the long range forecast and it appears that we have + double digits ahead, hip hip hooray! I booked this afternoon off as vacation as Mr. Alvin has a 3 p.m. vet appointment. So I am going to enjoy that time off from work with Mr. Alvin. We can walk at noon and then again later.

I think that I am going to post some photos. It is so great to have access to such beautiful photos. Also, I had better download photos from my camera so that I can share some of those with all of you.

Alvin is needing my attention so this will be quick.

Wishing you a awesome Friday.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion and patience for all.

Always, Love Carol & Alvin

Second Half of the NEW YEAR

Good Morning Everyone!

Happy Friday.

We had a great meeting yesterday at the office.

It was the first time since March 19, 2020 that our team had physically been all together.

I will say that surprisingly for us, it was very emotional.

I had read somewhere that coworkers that were reunited after many months found themselves emotional.

I can only imagine how families that have been apart for all this time must feel.

When they come together or if they remain apart.

Definitely while this pandemic has had a physical effect on a great many people, I guess all of us really, we do not often think of the emotional role it has played.

Whether you worked on the front lines or were at home working …. we have all FELT¬†the effects of this global pandemic.

It is most likely that we will be feeling the effects for a very long time even once it has gone.

Myself and the team were all reminded of how much we genuinely care for each other and by how much we “have each other’s backs” so to speak.

Our current team is all women.

I am glad that I work with such a great group of women.

We may not always agree on everything but we do agree on one thing and that is the well being of each other.

In the beginning I was hesitant and kind of miffed that we had to go to the office.

But after my coworker picked me up and we started to talk about things, I felt like we were both in the same place.

It was a massive relief once I spoke to and saw in person the rest of the team to see we were all feeling the same.

The meeting was so worth it and I am glad that I took that step and went.

The phones last night were interesting.

I had calls that ran the gamut.

Well the weekend is ahead.

The sky is clear and the sun is shining.

We did not get any rain last night so my poor plants need a drink.

I will give them water.

Wishing you a great day and weekend ahead.

Always worth treating all with kindness and respect.

I do believe that what goes around – comes around.

You reap what you sow.

Living my life with kindness and respect.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 29th day of August, 2018.

It is dark out although the sky appears to be getting light now at 6:15 a.m.

No rain overnight.

The smoke seems to have lightened mostly and I hope that the fires in British Columbia and elsewhere are going out or have gone out.

I wanted to share another “Apple Crisp” story …

Last night with nothing left that resembles milk in any fashion; I opted to use the “choke cherry syrup” that Teddy’s Mom gave me.

It was so good, I may have to use it instead of milk for awhile.

The syrup was so good.

Of all the time we spend on this earth most of it is spent fashioning relationships.

We have positive and negatives relationships.

There are ones that make you want to pull out your hair and then there are ones that you simply cannot live without.

I think because we have both YING and YANG in our life’s relationships that keep us growing and living.

They keep us falling in love, in love and falling out of love.

They help us manage our lives.

Without relationships we would not exist.

In my opinion.

Even if you live on your own like me, relationships of all sorts play an important role.

My relationship with my four-legged buddy, Alvin.

He “loves me unconditionally.” (more when I have treats, of course).

He is happy when he gets a neck massage.

He makes me smile.

He makes me feel important.

My relationship with my daughter.

One of the most important of my life.

She is the best and not just because she is my daughter but because she is this warm, kind and generous human being.

She lights my day and night sky.

I feel as though she was my most best achievement.

Giving birth to her changed my life.

We have our relationships with our siblings.

My sister and I share this incredible bond.

Our lives.

We sound almost identical and are eighteen months apart, so not twins.

She has been there forever ( I am the older of us).

She makes me laugh and no one tells a joke like she does.

She is a great reminder of what was, what is and what can be.

I have two brothers whom I love very much.

My only regret is that I do not know them as well as I should.

Life happens.

I have relationships with people that I grew up with, school chums, work mates, neighbours and other folks that I have met on the bus or along my 60+ years.

They all play an important role in who I am.

I am what I am because of all of these relationships.

Mostly positive.

Well time to go to work.

I hope that you will think about your relationships as they are so important to each of us.

Happy Wednesday.

Special Hello to: my sister and all of my girl friends.  Thank you for being in my life.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 18th day of April, 2016.

It was a very busy weekend but a great weekend – jammed packed the whole way through.

I need a rest now from the weekend.

Alvin was a bit under the weather about 3:00 a.m. but appears to have recovered.

He must have eaten something on our walk.

I am so careful but he is so fast.

The sun is beginning to rise which is awesome and soon it will be bright and sunny at 5:00 a.m. or so.

I love that time of day.

Mr. Elton is going to be spending the day with Alvin so that is nice.

Good for the boys to be together whenever possible.

We will go for a nice walk tonight before Elton goes home.

I cannot believe the weather we have been having and on the flip side it is so dry.

The clouds roll in and roll out without a drop of rain.

It may be a long hot dry summer.

Good for one thing for sure “grasshoppers.”

They remind me of “A Bug’s Life” the children’s movie.

Loved that movie.

Some of the best movies were made for the kids.

Well here we are time to go and start another work day.

I am a bit tired from being up at 3:00 a.m. and although we did go back to sleep it is not the same.

I hope that you had a splendid weekend and that your Monday is so great that you shake your head in disbelief, and then realize that “yes” you do deserve a GREAT day.

Special Hello to: all of the folks who love a good animated film.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 8th day of September, 2015.

Dark out ….. dry on the deck …. no rain overnight.

Wow, Tuesday already …. so great to have a long weekend.

I am so grateful that I was able to spend some of it with my dear friend “P” from Regina.

We had such a great visit.

Now today back to the regular routine …..

Work …. home ….. work …. HOME …..

We are so wrapped in routine we humans.

In fact, I would say that most of us are most happiest when we are in a routine.

When we get up at the same time, eat at the same time, work at the same time …..sleep at the same time.

It is a circle that for the most part keeps us the most happiest.

If you think about it having your life in a regular schedule/routine helps you to do what you needs to be done.

At least it works for me.

There I go again …. back to the “TO DO LISTS.”

But really …. they do work.

Whenever you have things to do write them down.

As you complete them …. check off ….. DONE.

We/I/You will have a sense of accomplishment.

Even if it is just emptying the dishwasher.

Trust he it feels like you actually did something.

Well I can hear the sidewalk calling my name …..

Now that I have to wear a jacket and “shoes” ….. need a couple extra minutes to put the final touches on before I leave the house.

Have a Happy Tuesday.

Special Hello to: my friend “M” …. thank you for your thoughtful comments and your “work” is amazing.

Always, Carol and Alvin
