Living … One day at a time.

Hello,  good morning to you.

The sky is beginning to lighten as hopefully the sun will rise shortly.

YAY, today is Saturday.

Master Teddy slept over last night as his parents went out to the farm for today.

The boys well Alvin is curled up on the blue blanket beside me and Teddy is just sniffing about at the moment.

After work on our walk we walked or actually Alvin pulled me over to Teddy’s house.

By the time we arrived my shins were aching.

Oh, yes.

We had a little visit and then were on our way.

Me and the boys walked around by the lake in our park to home.

The grass is still very much green amidst the partially turned leaves on the trees.

Some trees are still very green.

The water is flowing.

Oh, how I love this time of year.

We enjoyed our walk home.

The boys spent a bit of time in the backyard but mostly they were right beside me as I cooked my supper.

Alvin is motivated by food …. I think you know.

So even this morning at 5:00 a.m., Alvin, after he ate his food wanted to eat Teddy’s.

Yup, we were up eating well they were eating.

Deep sigh.

What can you do?

Teddy is wanting to get up onto my lap but it is not easy to type/key with a puppy on your lap.

He always slides down.

I was just thinking last night and earlier this morning …… about being more proactive when it comes to my job.

Instead of being reactive …..

Hard to explain without getting into details which I cannot.

But I am excited to try these ideas in my work life to see the results.

Perhaps giving folks ideas how to make processes easier instead of reacting to them.

I will get back to you about this.

Life is way too complicated and I want to make it easier.

Life is short so why not make it as easy as possible.

If you have to work why not enjoy it.

Even the most demanding, frustrating of jobs could be made easier and less complex.

Simplify.

We all need to simplify our lives.

Our work  ….. our home.

Life balance.

We have over the years made things way too complicated.

Complicated = Stress

Or at least that is my opinion/my view after being on this earth for 62 years.

I have seen this first hand.

If we look to the Animal Kingdom we could learn so much.

Instead of destroying them …. learn from them.

Well I have two puppies that are ready to get downstairs.

I need some COFFEE.

Time to get going on the laundry.

I have changed my bedding and gathered the laundry.

And the COFFEE.

Yup, simply a cup of coffee and I am in heaven.

Nothing better than to be sipping on a mug of hot perked coffee surrounded by pups.

Life is good.

My life is great.

Happy Saturday.

If we continue to learn and live our lives in kindness and respect, we will live great lives.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 27th day of March, 2019.

Well we had a rainy day on Tuesday …..  we missed our walk last night.

Sometimes I wished that Alvin had a raincoat with a hood.

I have to be careful that he doesn’t get an yeast infection.

It can happen from excess moisture in the ears.

Who knew?

We opted out last night but he spent time on the deck and every time he came into the house – out came the towel.

Tonight I have a meeting and our friend is watching over him.

Perhaps it will be nice and she will take him for a walk.

Otherwise we will have to play catchup tomorrow and over the weekend.

Not so bad.

******************************

I read the following just before signing on to do this post.

It was surrounded by math problems.

Love is many things none of which is logical.

I would tend to agree with this statement.

Love is anything but logical.

We all know and remember poems and song lyrics about love.

Nothing logical about any of them.

Perhaps love is an opinion.

After all we all love differently.

Some we understand and some we do not.

But we cherish LOVE above all else.

There is the love of another human being.

There is the love of one’s children.

Different love between you and your parents, for example.

There is the love of money.

There is the love of material items.

After all that priceless family heirloom was purchased with love and handed down over the generations with love.

There is the love of animals.

I love my Alvin.

There is the love of nature.

I love walking by a lake with tall grasses waving in a breeze.

I love watching animals in nature.

There is the love of food.

Who does not love chocolate.

There is the love of oneself.

Many levels of self love.

There is the love of a rain storm.

Yes, love the excitement of thunder and lightning.

There is the love of sports.

There is the love of exercise.

There is the love of music.

That song that you simply cannot live without.

There is the love of love.

Anyway you look at it LOVE covers a great deal of ground.

Funny how one statement can spark conversation or in this case a great many statements.

I hope that wherever you are and whatever you are doing that you love yourself, you are safe, you are in good health and are surrounded with love and support.

Happy Wednesday.

Have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to: my friends and family all over this world.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 3rd day of October, 2015.

It is overcast and windy here in Edmonton.

Just a few minutes ago my cousin left for home.

We had a wonderful evening.

Short but so great.

I was reminded over the course of the evening and this morning on how much I miss our conversations.

She is such a well read and good thinking person.

With common sense and logic.

I have always valued our talks and have learned so much from her.

Sometimes in our everyday lives we forget the importance of good conversations.

You know the proper exchange of information and opinion.

No one being right.

No one being wrong.

Just good talk ….

There are no words to express how much I needed that conversation at this point in my life.

In today’s world we read what is posted on multi-media, and then react.

Sometimes it is a positive experience and sometimes, less than.

I like the back and forth ….. the “Ying” and “Yang” of conversation.

Now, I know as I love to write that we express in words both our feelings and opinions otherwise there would not be books.

But somehow the art of conversation seems to have gone by the wayside.

Or at least to what I have noticed.

So many people have cell phones and are busy checking info on the internet, posting on FB and such.

To talk face to face or hold a conversation has become “old school.”

Much like letter writing……

Okay I am definitely showing my age.

I just wanted to share my recent experience and to remind us all about how important it is to just talk.

So maybe on this Saturday you go and see your Grandmother or your Dad or a neighbour ….. have a cup of tea or coffee and just chat ….. about the world, about your flowers, about conversation.

Thank you cousin for bringing me some good information and breathing some fresh ideas into my conversation, and helping me to remember …. we are all humans living on this planet and all we want is to LIVE.

Sometimes a visit is so much more than just a visit.

This was the case.

I am so grateful to my cousin “J” …..

I feel my old self again …… by the way the play was well done, and having a late supper (after the play) and chatting till 2 a.m. priceless.  By the way it was super cool to be at the opening night for the 50th Anniversary of the Citadel.

Thank you.

On a fun note:  Alvin went for a sleepover to his sister’s house …… oh, how I miss my boy…..he, as does his sister, brings me great joy and appreciation for life.

Happy Saturday ……. Enjoy.

Special Hello: to my cousin “J” …. safe trip home and thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 23rd day of September, 2015.

Today is the first official day of “fall” or “autumn.”

The leaves are already changing colour and so many have taken that long ride to the ground.

I love walking through the piles of leaves on the sidewalk by my office.

The swish and the crunch ……

Most of the smaller birds have already hiked on down south.

The geese honk as they fly by.

The majority opinion right now is people are tired ….. wanting to sleep.

Time to hibernate.

Oh, autumn ….. we love you.

The colours, the coolness to the breeze ….. the simplicity of it all.

We enjoy looking at all the different leaves on our walk.

I guess Mr. Alvin is not so much into leaves unless there is a piece of food under them.

I wish us all a long warm fall.

Time to get our outside fall clean-up/put away stuff.

Time to get those autumn photos done.

Speaking of which – almost time for me and Alvin to have our Annual Autumn Photo done.

We will have to speak with our resident photographer.

We are so blessed.

Well almost time to grab the shoes, jacket, scarf and mini gloves for the walk to the bus.

I hope that you enjoy the first day of fall.

Special Hello to: all those crafters out there ….. you do good work.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 22nd day of July, 2015.

It is a beautiful sunny morning here in Edmonton.

Last night we had a lovely rain ….. we so do need it.

YAY.

Do you have mornings when you put on your clothes and go OOOH?

You have diligently, and without fail laid out the outfit the night before and all of a sudden it just does not feel right.

I have had one of these mornings.

So grateful that I had a few extra minutes for the several top changes.

The pants are okay but for some reason the top half is not cooperating this morning.

Oh the joys of being a woman.

I wonder do men fuss and stew over what they are going to wear?

I will say one thing …. I am not trying to impress anyone or everyone …. I just want to be comfortable.

For me, if I am comfortable …. I feel good and I think that I look good.

My opinion and I guess that is what counts is our own opinion.

Putting off good energy is the main thing …..

I have a few items that no matter what is going on I feel great wearing them ….. so white top …. ON.

Mr. Alvin just lays on the bed all curled up …. likely thinking “Oh Momma, how come so many trips to the closet?”

I would reply “Mr. Alvin, it is just one of those days.”

So I have now got the “crap” out of my day and it is going to be great.

Check ….. life is great.

I feel wonderful.

It rained last night so the grass looks amazing.

Needs a cut though and all of those tree shoots coming up.

Doesn’t take them long to sprout.

I hope that you have an amazing day and hopefully what you have picked out is just perfect for today.

Special Hello to: my friend “M” …… chocolate pancake recipe will be posted here on the weekend…

Always, Carol and Alvin
