2021

Good Morning ALL. How are you today? Both Alvin and I are well. He/We/I were awake just after midnight and up and out and then back to “BED,” yup the actual bed not the sofa until guess what time? I was so excited “5:00 a.m.” Felt like I actually slept through the night. So that was a great way to start the day. Oh no, we did not stay up. The sofa always calls our names.

I am so happy that our sunrises seem to be happening earlier each day and I guess they really are, so nice. No snow yesterday that actually accumulated which was good. No walking. Seems to be a lots of no’s happening. We did some up and down the stairs. Alvin does get fresh air more than me when it is this cold as he has to go out for the obvious reasons and sometimes he likes to just go out on the deck for a few minutes under the careful eye of his Momma. Have to watch that the pads on the bottom of his paws do not freeze. It is something that most folks do not think about when they are out walking their dogs in the winter time and in the summer they can blister/burn on hot pavement and sidewalks. We rescued a dog on a hot summer day who has his/her pads badly burned. My family took the pup to the Emergency Vet for treatment. Unfortunately we never did find out where she belonged. Very sad.

Today is the Happy Birthday of one of my two nieces. Happy Birthday KENZI. Alvin and I are hoping that life is treating you well. Best Wishes.

As I look around my office, I see that I am surrounded by my favourite inanimate objects such as cards, photos and books. I love to read. Every night when I go to bed – I read. I love all sorts of books. My daughter also has a thirst for reading books and quite often passes hers to me which is great because right now who gets out to shop for books. I have another friend who reads with a passion and she sometimes passes a book or three to me. Books are so very important to us human beings. They can lift you up and take you to places that you never imagined. The power of words. I am grateful to have a room filled with the things that I love. A thank you card from the CEO of a company I used to work for, a very beautiful birthday card from my sister, lots of cards displayed, photos of me and Alvin, my daughter, places I have been and favourite sayings. All hanging up on my wall size bulletin boards made my talented daughter. I must say that my office upstairs is my favourite room in the house. Truly. Makes my heart sing and my heart warm. Do you have a favourite room/place in your home. I also had this room painted the most glorious shade of green. I love this room. Truly I do.

Well I think that it is time to head on downstairs and plug in the coffee. Busy day ahead. Alvin is being patient this morning. He went outside just before we came upstairs. We both had a good sleep.

Wishing you a wonderful Thursday.

Oh, my Chef’s Place meal delivery order is coming today. This is the third one that I have tried. Fresh (cannot remember the name at this moment), GoodFood (which I love) and this one Chef’s Plate. Nice to try things that I would not normally cook and to have all of the ingredients. Just remembered it was called Hello Fresh.

Remembering to live with kindness, respect, compassion and patience. Oh, I am working on patience, every day. Alvin will attest to that for sure.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

Well it is Saturday July 6th, 2019.

Almost one week into July already …. WOW.

Another rainy day although at the moment it is only overcast.

We have been managing to get walks in around the rain for the most part.

Last night we started our walk after work in a light rain, then it stopped and when we were almost home, the rain came down.

We were wet upon arriving home.

So lucky to have seen the multiple families of geese by our park.

The babies are no longer babies.

**********************

I am so happy that you love my new office wall colour.

I love it so much.

Now for the hard part …. how to place things and what to bring into the office.

So my mind has been swirling with ideas.

Some easy but all time consuming.

So I will get my plan in place before I jump into things.

The colour is amazing.

So brilliant and GREEN.

I love GREEN.

Makes me feel so ALIVE and gives me an all around good feeling.

The office desks are a deep rich brown almost black, perhaps like an expresso colour and my book cases are about that same colour.

They play well off of the vibrant green on the walls.

I love how the green changes in different light.

I have also decided to paint this green on a feature wall in the living room.

All of my main furniture in the living room is rich tones of browns except for a chair that is same green palate with brown.

My accents will match perfectly.

Can you imagine how well the Christmas tree will pop in that room?

WOW, wow, wow.

So happy.

Well as it was a busy week filled with things other than laundry and house cleaning – time to get at it.

I always find it so strange that I can tell myself when going to bed – that I would like to get up at a specific time and that is the time I wake up.

Last night I thought 7:00 a.m. would be a good time and that was the time that I woke up.

Also noting that Alvin wanted to go downstairs at 3:22 a.m. but that is, his clock not mine.

We did go downstairs at that time and afterward hit the sofa until I woke up at 7:00 a.m.

Our thoughts can literally bring about anything.

Well on that note it is time to fly.

I can see laundry, cleaning and a walk in our future.

Also checking on our friend’s flowers …. although they will not require watering today.

Happy Happy Saturday.

Enjoy your day.

Reminder to ourselves to be KIND and RESPECTFUL.

I know that sometimes there are people who throw us off being kind and respectful …

But find your way back.

It’s okay.

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. longing for some sunshine but I heard a rumour that we are to have very hot temperatures this summer ….. time will tell.

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

What a crazy week this has been.

Sorry that I missed writing yesterday but the office was under “renovation” so to speak.

Da-da

The green paint looks different in every light as does most paint.

My friend’s husband who is a professional did the work (it was unexpected).

Anyway I love it.

Love it so much.

Sorry but am running late as I have been most of the week.

Will give you all the details later.

Office is not back together yet as this happened Wednesday night.

Have an awesome Friday.

Remember “Kindness” and “Respect”

Happy Friday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 12th day of June, 2015.

It is a glorious morning here in Edmonton.

The sky is slightly overcast from our rain last night.

The sun is beginning to rise in the sky.

I am so grateful for the rain last night ….. actually gave the flowers and grass a nice boost.

They look so happy this morning.

Perfect timing last night the rain came down as I was eating supper and then while I was drinking my tea.

When we were ready to go for a walk …. the sun came out and the sky pretty much cleared.

How lucky were we ……

I am so grateful for vacation time.

Figuring after a long week it might be nice to have a Friday afternoon off …..

So excited …..

After work hit the grocery store, then throw on the laundry, sand down the front porch and then paint.

Followed by a nice long walk with me Alvin.

This morning for no reason at all he walked over to me, and put his paws on my lap, and gave me a big kiss.

Now what a great way to start the day.

RAIN AND KISSES.

I am one happy girl.

I hope that you all have an awesome Friday …..

This morning I am ready to go early …..

Now how is that for great.

Take care and enjoy a walk in a nearby park or even just down your street.

When the sun goes down and the night sky appears do some star gazing.

Kick off your shoes and walk on the grass.

Sip on a cup of tea on your deck or patio.

I was reminded by a story I read on FB that we should always be overjoyed when a loved one comes through the door.

How about we try that …..

The reminder was from a man and his dog.

Unfortunately his dog …. his friend, passed away.

But no matter how many times he came through the door … his friend was always overjoyed to see him.

I can tell you that is the case.

So often we forget how important being super excited over seeing a loved one is ….

Just think how happy you will make that person and how great you will feel.

Practice.

We can learn so much from our four-legged friends.

Alvin teaches me everyday …..

Happy Friday ….

Time to go to work.

Special Hello to: my sister and brothers ….. oh so far and yet so near.  I love you with all of my heart.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 9th day of June, 2015.

Well it is overcast and cooler out this morning.

Last night after work my daughter stopped by to drop off their sander so that I can sand and paint the front porch, and I in turn had her plants, and a couple of items packed and ready for her to take to their new home.

Alvin and I were so happy to see her ….. we miss them very much.

You should have seen Mr. Alvin ….. he didn’t know what to do.

He wagged his tail ….. grabbed a toy ….. ran almost sideways to her …..

He loves his big sister.

We had a brief visit as she had to get home.

With her husband’s recent injury he is unable to take the pups out to the bathroom.

Well for some reason this morning I feel tired.

Not sure why as I went to bed on time and I don’t remember being up during the night.

Well I guess if you count Alvin waking up just before 4:30 a.m. …. well maybe that is it.

He likes to get up early.

So on this Tuesday I am repeating the words “I am energized everyday.”

If this is you ….. like me …

That should do the trick …. and perhaps that first cup of coffee.

A great combination.

Happy Tuesday everyone ……..

Special Hello to: my friend “M” who makes the most beautiful hand-crafted treasures.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Happy Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 ……. really…

WOW, 24 days into the New Year.

What was a quiet beginning to the New Year took on a whole new life mid last week on the 18th….

I never saw it coming …… well you know …… my unwanted visitors.

But I shall keep those thoughts to they came, had breakfast and were “ASKED” to leave …..  LOL.  (I can laugh now, phew)

I started my new position at my full-time job and am loving it.

There is certainly lots to learn but I shall always have something to do.

Which is great.

Isn’t learning lovely?

It seems though over the past months …. I have been learning lots of things.

Certainly as we get older ….. learning and exercising our minds is a great thing.

I think that I perhaps was a bit “stagnant” in some ways before with being in the same job for decades, working for the same company, living in the same home for twenty-five years and so on.

But almost three years ago ….. I threw caution to the wind and turned my life upside down ……

You know what?  Despite a couple of speed bumps along the way …… it has been SO GREAT.

Sometimes you just have to take the leap ….. have faith that things will work out and go for it.

One of my many dreams was to own my own home ….. so that if I wanted to paint….. I could.

Something to call my own.

Also to be retired (extended vacation) ….  sleep-in and enjoy that freedom.

To have my own dog….

There are so many dreams that I have realized …

Another big one … was to once again live near my only daughter …….

So I guess in the dream department …. I have hit the JACKPOT….

I am so blessed…. so lucky.

Well here it is almost time to finish getting ready for work.

I hope that you have an awesome day.

Take a chance ….. dare to dream…… make your dreams come true. BELIEVE…..

Special Hello:  to my cousin Janice and my sister Cindy …… two important women in my life ….. I MISS YOU GUYS!!

Always, Carol

Thought for the day……

Whenever I feel like things are perhaps working in the opposite direction that I want them to ….

I turn my feelings to the things that I love.

Life is a work of art and sometimes you have to dabble a bit with the paint to get it just right …..

Have a great day.

Always, Carol
