2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you this fine FOGGY here in Edmonton morning? Alvin and I are doing well although he may say something different as he is squeaking by the office door. He is getting pretty used to me jumping every time he makes a sound. My fault not his. There has been some thick fog out there this morning although it has dissipated somewhat already. I am feeling more back to my old self this morning. It is not the end of the world if we do not go with this roofing company. Sometimes if we get a “bad feeling” or experience doubt it is better to just walk away. Both myself and my neighbour had those feelings. It was not just the feelings it was the information as well. Anyway, we are on the search for another roofing company and we will find the one that is right for us. Right credentials, right products, right price. We will secure the best company for the job and for us.

Yesterday we had quite a lot of rain in the afternoon. Alvin and I managed to get a beautiful walk in over my lunch break. We even saw some of our friends over the course of our walk and stopped for a little chat. We made it back home with minutes to spare so not late for work. My flowers are doing great with all of this moisture, I think that they grew overnight. The front flower bed is coming to life and the colours are beautiful. Even my snapdragons are all starting to come up or at least I believe it is them. I love flowers, the colours and the scents.

Life is continuing along. Not much new. Just chugging along. Experiencing life as I should. Trying to keep the positive thoughts flowing and remembering that “thoughts do in fact become things.” I know this to be true.

I have recently changed my thoughts to ones of retirement, being mortgage free and new shingles on my roof. Likely would be a great idea to make a vision board to help me in my new vision.

Wishing you a wonderful day.

Almost time to head downstairs, get on that pot of coffee and put on some music. I love to start my day with music now that I can.

Continuing to live each day with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love and gratitude.

Always, Love Carol & Alvin

P.S. one of my neighbours spotted a pelican in one of our park “ponds” / “lakes.” I did not think we had them here in Alberta but apparently we do. I cannot wait until I see one.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 15th day of April, 2019.

Well it seems to be calm outside this morning.

The exact opposite of yesterday.

The sky is clearing as the sun rises in the east.

Alvin is on his blue blanket as he rests while I write this post for my blog.

We had a busy but wonderful weekend.

We socialized, had some exercise, ate well, did some work around the house and yard, and even did some volunteer work.

Humphrey was with us on Saturday for most of the day.

My young girl friends came for coffee after Al’s Doctor/Vet visit on Saturday morning.

I raked, did laundry, made a big pot of chilli and tidied up around the house.

We had some wonderful walks including one with our friend S and Luna, the young labrador (lab).

Yesterday my daughter came for a visit and pancake breakfast.

We had a great time catching up with all of our news.

After the big breakfast and visit – I geared up to pick up trash in the neighbourhood.

I made sure to have extra disposable gloves, two big garbage bags, mini gloves and a coat with a hood and a scarf.

Once outside I decided to tie my hood up with the scarf which worked for a few minutes before the wind blew around my hood and took it down.

The wind was cold and so strong that most of the time I had to pick up trash a few times before getting it into the bag.

There were moments when I thought that I might be air borne.

Sometimes picking it up with my hand that was covered with the disposable glove.

I was almost home when I turned to see this whirlwind of dirt heading right for me.

Luckily I was able to turn and miss the face-on brunt of the impact.

Over the course of this walk one man even crossed the street to say “You are my hero for picking up trash.”

That was nice.

When almost at home I hear my name from one of my friends who was visiting at another friend’s house.

She said she did not realize it was me at first.

The wind had my hair all blown wild and crazy.

Between the scarf and my hair, I was unrecognizable.

I chatted for a moment before carrying one.

One thing to mention ….. my friend’s dog Jazmine was there and she took one look at me and turned away.

I even called out her name but she would have nothing to do with me.

Ah, I must have looked scary.

One more story.

Sometimes people drive me crazy.

I was coming around the bend toward home and this young couple crossed the street ahead of me heading to their vehicle, a truck.

When the girl got into the truck some fast food wrappers blew out.

I was right there and picked them up.

She saw this and said nothing.

How rude.

Anyway my hood is clean now except for the leaves and whatever trash blew in from elsewhere.

It was a productive weekend and Sunday.

YAY, me.

Well almost time to leave for work as my ride is coming early today.

I hope that you all have an awesome Monday.

Please remember that your trash is not for someone else to pick up.

Your trash is not to fill the oceans and kill the marine life.

Your trash is not meant to fill the yard of your neighbour.

Your trash is not meant to blow around parks and forests for the wildlife to eat and then slowly die.

You need to look around and be mindful.

Stop buying all those items with the multiple layers of plastic.

If we stop buying and start complaining then manufacturers will make changes.

We only have one planet.

Time to change.

This is the change that needs to happen.

Not just a change in government a change in how we live our lives.

I challenge you one and all.

What will you do?

Special Hello to: my friend V who was a busy girl this weekend and always (time to rest?).

Always, Caro & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 3rd day of June, 2017.

It was bright and sunny with a bit of a breeze this morning and now the sky seems to be filled with scattered clouds.

So we shall see.

Yesterday was a rainy day until about supper time.

Alvin and I managed to get a walk in after supper and the evening remained beautiful.

Mr. Alvin is about to have a haircut and bath as soon as I am done here.

My first job is to give him a haircut, bath and clean his ears and double check to ensure he has no TICKS.

I have been checking after each walk but have to make doubly sure.

The front lawn, back lawn and by the garage are filled with those beautiful little yellow flowers er, weeds, we call “dandelions.”

So I have to figure out some way of getting rid of them that does not call for poisons that are bad for animals, the environment and wallet.

There is no way to dig them out.

They just got crazy after this last round of rain.

So lots to to do.

I will keep busy this weekend.

Hopefully tomorrow Alvin and I can walk over the one of the parks north of us and check out the baby geese.

I see them every morning on the bus ride to work.

I would like to get some photos of them.

WISH me luck.

But that is for tomorrow.

I would like to go first thing tomorrow morning if it is sunny …..

Well time to get this show on the road.

Food for thought:  Stay within your budget and keep old friends close.

Happy Saturday Everyone.

Special Hello to: my family and friends ……

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 27th day of May, 2014.

Wow, four glorious days left in May, 2014.

It has been raining here off and on over the past couple of days.

We surely needed the moisture and the smell of rain is glorious.

I am very grateful for the much needed moisture.

Our grass most especially in the back yard is so nice and green.

……………………..     ………………………….

Well this morning has me thinking about the neighbourhood cleanup that I am organizing for this coming Saturday.

My mind is running amuck with things to do and hoping that I have everything in order.

There is a good group and some new faces coming out for the event.

I am drawing the map of the cleanup area this evening so I can assign areas.

At least that way nothing gets missed and I know where everyone is located.

The new faces: these great volunteers are pretty much all new to this area, and isn’t that wonderful that they are the first to volunteer, just as I was when I moved to this neighbourhood.

So exciting ….. meet new people and have the area cleaned …… perfect combination.

My goal in all of this was to make people aware and hopefully we will get noticed on Saturday and bring attention to the garbage that litters our streets and parks.

This is something for everyone to take note of ……

I want people to take pride in their neighbourhoods and if we all help out what a gorgeous planet we will have …..

I keep thinking one drink can, one coffee cup, one cigarette package at a time ……

Maybe you can go out and organize a neighbourhood cleanup in your area.

It is a great way to meet new people and get exercise and keep your “hood” clean.

Even if you are not in an organized cleanup ….. always carry a small bag with you and pick up those unwanted items.

Better yet do not throw anything on the ground …. that is what garbage cans are made for ……

Special Hello to: all those people out there who take the time to make this planet a better place for us, for our pets, for all the flora and fauna.

Always, Carol and Alvin
