Living … One day at a time.

Hello to a gloom grey sky.

Just going to be a quiet day for us.

I think because of the gloomy skies, it would be a great time to share some colourful photos.

Photos taken over the years.

Flowers and Nature always bring a smile to my face.

Hopefully will bring a smile to your face.

I always find that when the sky is grey and rainy – flowers bring joy to my world.

Also Alvin does that as well.

Our children, our fur babies, adult family and friends …. they all bring us joy.

Wishing you a quiet, happy, healthy Sunday ….

With kindness and respect our days will be good.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 19th day of April, 2019.

It is mid morning in Edmonton as we get to starting this day.

We were first up at 3:30, then 5:30, then 7:15 and then just before 9:00 a.m.

Perhaps that is why I found it difficult to actually get up and stay up.

Oh well ….. what can you do.

The sky is partially overcast as I look out the office window which faces south.

Looking out our bedroom window to the north the sun is shining with mainly clear sky.

Always amazes me.

Only sound is the odd car driving by on the street.

Perhaps others are feeling lazy this Friday morning.

There is a breeze as I see the trees swaying gracefully in the wind.

I am most grateful to have a five day weekend.

We started last night by going for a walk with our friend P.

The walk took us about one hour.

We walked by the larger “lake” and park to the north of us.

P was telling us all about the frogs as we could hear them singing their songs.

We even walked through the grass and small shrubs by the water to see the frogs floating on the water.

Very cool.

Nature is cool.

It is all of the small things that we walk by each and every day with no thought of what is going on in their world.

Alvin just kept following P.

I think he was wondering why all of a sudden it was okay to walk off the path.

We also walked down by the water at our ponds for a bit.

There was a bit of action there but not nearly as much as at the big lake.

During we came across two geese just walking in a grassy area.

There was a young boy of about 9 I would say sitting on his bike with a long stick in his hand.

Looking to make a move on the geese.

Geese VS boy.

I know who would come out ahead.

Not the boy.

P told the boy to leave the geese alone.

While we were there he seemed to listen.

I will never know why it is that some children and some adults feel the urge to bother or to hurt or worse.

Why not just sit back and watch them.

Geese are such beautiful birds.

I love their grace as they take off and land on the water.

I love watching them with their babies.

We also saw a pair of ducks in a small grove of trees on the other side of the lake.

You can always tell the difference between a female and a male in nature.

The males are always the most colourful and the females are always the “drab ones.”

What happened to humans?

I understand why animals do this …. to distract the predators from the female and the babies.

Most of the time anyway.

Well time to get this long long weekend on the way.

I will start with coffee and making a list of all of the things that need to be done.

There is a few to be sure.

Looking forward to spending some time outside.

Walking.

More yard work.

Pressure washing the deck.

Perhaps bringing out the patio furniture?

Too early?

I hope that you have a wonderful day.

Happy Friday.

Special Hello to: my family and friends …..

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to the 19th day of October, 2019.

Another gorgeous day on the way.

Today is special for another reason.

Today we celebrate the 10th Wedding Anniversary of my daughter and son-in-law.

It was a day much like today is forecasted to be.

Sunshine and low teen temperatures.

Alvin, Aspen, Milo and Mum wish you both the most wonderful day.

You both have been through so much but always figure things out.

Alvin said to give hugs and kisses to you both.

I think that is a great idea.

Hugs and Kisses to you both from me and the pups.

Happy Happy Anniversary to you both.

The babies                                                Our tree reminds me of that day …. all the leaves had fallen, as well.

A SUNFLOWER to bring light into your life forever.

LAVENDER to bring good sleep every night of your lives.

CONSTRUCTION SIGN SLOW – a reminder to take things easy and relax, not to worry, just chill.

Stop and smell the roses.

PATH through a forest to remind us to just walk ahead and keep dreaming and also good exercise.

Alvin said to say that about the “good exercise.”

Take in the scenery whenever possible.

Even taking a couple of days to recharge is always a good thing.

Well I have to leave for work.

It was a rushed morning.

Happy Anniversary to my kids …. have an awesome day.

May the rest of your lives be filled with much love, joy, good health, energy, abundance and richness.

Special Hello to: my kids ….. Happy Anniversary

Always, Mom, Alvin, Aspen and Milo

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Monday, July 3, 2017 and it is the 38th day until my 60th Birthday.

Wow, cannot believe July 3rd already.

Definitely getting closer to that day.

Not sure how I feel about it but I am certainly glad that I am able to feel.

This has been a great daily reminder of the life that I have lead until now …..

I can only obviously comment on on the first almost 60 years and the future one can only speculate.

In so many ways I am more than blessed.

Of course, I would not be human if I did not find something to complain about or stress over.

There are a great many people on this planet who are able to live totally positive joyful lives.

I strive to be one of them.

I am not there but am working on it everyday.

There is always something that reminds me of the path that I want to be on, and really all we can do is try.

If we intend to do something – eventually it will happen.

Intention ….

Always, Carol

Thought for the day …….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 2nd day of July, 2015.

It is absolutely the most perfect morning here in Edmonton.

The sun is shining, there is a slight cool breeze which was perfect for our morning stroll.

I have a couple of days off from the office.  We were up to stay fairly early for a day off.

There were the roses that line our path at the entrance to the lake …. the fragrance was enchanting.

A robin hopped along not grabbing Mr. Alvin’s attention.

The grass glistened with dew looking as though there were diamonds sprinkled everywhere.

What an absolute perfect morning.

I wish every morning would be like this for us.

For now I will take these ones and treasure them.

Alvin just loves to sniff the grass as we walk along ….. not sure what he is finding.

Upon our arrival home and once Mr. Alvin had his harness removed; I grabbed the watering can so that I could give the front flower bed a quick drink. The back side of the bed rests against the house and does not get all of the rain.

My flowers are doing well and so are the little weeds that are trying desperately to find a home.

They are so nice and green.

But …….

We had a great Canada Day …… was just deciding about getting up when the phone rang (deciding factor).

It was our neighbour inviting us over for coffee.

So ate, dressed and went out …. what a great way to celebrate Canada Day….. good friend and coffee.

Mr. Alvin came with me ….. not fair to leave him at home.

Well I had better get on my way ….. breakfast …. make a couple of phone calls and this afternoon ….

I am going to bring out the beads and make some jewellery.

I miss making things …. so much fun and therapeutic.

I hope that you enjoy your day and have time to do something you love.

Happy July 2nd, 2015.

WOW ….. second day of July.

Special Hello to:  all those folks who are on vacation ….. enjoy.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…….

There are sometimes when our lives seem to be so complex, complicated and overwhelming that we forget to find the joy in the simplest of things.

For example:   this morning Alvin had grabbed his “toy bone” and was running like a crazy guy dropping it on the laminate floor with a bang …. then picking it up and scurrying around so fast that he would slip and slide as he ran…… LOL…..

It was so funny that I stopped what I was doing (eating breakfast) and just watched him.  He made me laugh and feel great.

Still makes me smile and that was sixty minutes ago……So when that dog has his bone or the baby laughs take a moment and just be in that moment…. Enjoy life.

Another one is walking along and as we were coming around the bend ….. the fragrance of roses led us down the path.

The smell was incredible.  Just made me feel like a million dollars.

So when your life is just simple crazy …… just be simple.

Take the pleasure out of the little things….. it is true………..

We don’t have to be entertained by the television, big screen, supper out a restaurant or such …..

We can find gifts each day in just the littlest of things ……. so pay attention …..

Have a great great day…….

Thanks Alvin (he always makes my day)

Always, Carol
