The New YEAR 2022

Good Morning ALL! I believe today is Friday but quite honestly I am mixed up on my days due to the start of this week. I am so relieved that situation is over. Guess what I did but was a bit anxious about – Alvin was up at 4:00 ish to go for a pee and have his glucosamine chew and we did manage to get back upstairs to bed but then he woke up at 5:22 and wanted his breakfast so once he once done he was firm in his stance and would not go back upstairs – he went beside the sofa and asked to be helped up. Politely. So taking a deep breath, I helped him up, turned off the lights, took off my glasses and set down and then grabbed our favourite red fluffy blanket laid down beside him on the sofa. My heart was racing for a minute or so and then with him beside him, I settled down. I would not say that I had a great “nap” but it was okay. A start back to our normal routine. As norm as any are these days.

I noticed that it is snowing as we have a nice little bright white blanket covering everything.

Yesterday my friend asked if I needed any groceries so I asked for her to pick up cans of pumpkins and a head of cauliflower. When she dropped them off, my “early Mother’s Day” gift had arrived. I did not hear a knock or doorbell but that is okay. The gift is a replacement for my beloved coffee percolator. My kids gave me the coffee perc early due to the accidental demise of my previous one. Actually it did not owe me anything as I had it since 2009. I am going to drink my first cup of coffee from it in a minute or two (once I am finished this post). It smells good.

Please on this Friday, January 7th, 2022 – be kind and respectful to all. Have patience. Remember we do not know what they are going through. Looks can be deceiving. Be understanding and have compassion. Be grateful for what you have and who you are. Focus on those endless possibilities. Love and laugh.

Happy Friday.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilities.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 21st day of November, 2016.

Wow, the weekend is over?

Those hours zipped by for sure.

It was an eventful, fun and good news kind of weekend.

This is a story that I shared on Facebook on the weekend and I thought that perhaps I would share it with all of you.

Just to share my morning with you all and perhaps bring a smile to your face. One of the first things that I do on a Saturday morning is to make coffee in my percolator. I love the way it tastes. Some time ago the little glass piece where the coffee races to the top as it goes through the percolating process BROKE. I was devastated thinking that I would have to go out and buy a new pot. But I was able to “fix it” and life carried on until this morning. Drum roll. I put the coffee on as usual and ran upstairs to get dressed and grab the laundry to start. While I was upstairs I called my neighbour to let her know that coffee would be ready shortly and to come grab a mug, (we do this every weekend). After I hung up I went downstairs to find a dark liquid on the counter and running into the sink and onto the floor and all over the back splash on the cupboard and on and on and on. I did not freak out (which is a good thing). But I did hope beyond hope that there was coffee left but alas it was not fully perked and was only warm and most of it escaped. So I picked up the toaster that had been there earlier so that the moisture would not destroy it. Grabbing the towels that had been folded up on the counter and without thinking started to wipe up the coffee. Argh, they were my Christmas ones that are white with Christmas scenes on them. Oh well now they will be mocha with Christmas scenes on them. I took everything off the counter and quickly cleaned and wiped while all the time watching for my neighbour. I managed to remake the pot before she arrive and we patiently waited while the second pot perked. I WATCHED the pot to ensure that it didn’t BLOW the “glass part” again. We finally had coffee which was good. I pulled out the stove as the coffee had run down there, too. Ended up vacuuming the dust bunnies that always seem to collect there, and washing behind the stove as well. I had pulled out the pot and pan draw underneath and found COFFEE in there so took out all of the 1,000 pieces of tupperware and other containers and cleaned the drawer. Okay this is beginning to look like a book. Ended up moving out the fridge because if you are going to move one appliance then you might as well do them all. Right. I borrowed my neighbour’s steam floor mop and cleaned the floor. The main floor was clean. But was it really. Over the course of several hours I had pulled out the utensil drawer only about five times. It seemed for some reason not to slide as easily as usual. Finally I realized that that drawer had about 1/8 inch of coffee in the bottom which covered every single little gadget in the drawer.
Okay finally got 500 little things all washed up. ALL FOR THE LOVE OF COFFEE……. What a morning but on the upside my kitchen is CLEAN, CLEAN from top to bottom and every place in between…. Happy Saturday.

******************************************************************************************

So after all of that one of my old friends who happens to live hundreds of miles away in Ontario is having a lid sent to me.  He knows

someone in the “coffee business.”

How blessed am I?

Saturday was busy.

Yesterday was the Christmas Event.

It was crazy fun.

Stella & Dot had some beautiful jewellery and other fashion items like purses and this huge weekend tote, very nice.

Scentsy would not like to smell amazing scents, very nice.
Steeped Tea was a hit and I did quite well sales wise and was able to introduce people to our product.
Very proud am I to be Canadian as Steeped Tea is a Canadian Business.
That was my Sunday.
Weekend over.
Good news on the Elton front (my grand-puppy not so much a puppy any longer but he has his days for sure) ….. after a couple of days on some new
medicine he is feeling a bit better.  We wish him pain free days and to have many many more days with his family.
Time to go to work again, seems like I just left on Friday and it is already Monday.
Have an awesome Monday everyone.
Special Hello to: Elton, we love you.
Always, Carol and Alvin
P.S. I was able to restore the towels to their before mocha colour …. white.  Whew.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 25th day of July, 2015.

It is a beautiful morning here in Edmonton with the sun shining brightly and a cool delicious breeze.

I have the windows open and the coolness gives me goosebumps.

What a wonderful sensation …. to be warm and cool at the same time.

Okay just disappeared into la-la land here.

I am back.

Time for a sip of the nectar meant for the soul …. COFFEE.

There is just something about a good cup of coffee that takes me to another place.

It teases my brain and settles my mind and sets me on a journey.

Really, coffee does all that?

Yes, it does ….

I am a coffee girl and although I love my tea in the evenings and I mean love there is just something about that cup of coffee especially on the weekends that sets the tone to my day.

Without it Saturday is just another day ….. Sunday follows Saturday.

I love the smell of coffee as it brews in my percolator.

I adore the feeling of the warm brew as it dances around in my mouth and disappears down, down, down.

I love a great cup of coffee.

There is no way of knowing just how many cups of coffee I have drank but it would likely be in the thousands.

Just happened to glance out the office window and oh my gosh the roof is now on the garage behind us.

He is a contractor who is building his own HUGE garage.

I swear the roof looks almost as high as the pitch on their house.

By the time it is built and the other neighbour across from them builds theirs we will feel like we are in a cocoon.

Nice and cozy.

I am so grateful for the parks/lakes close by.

At least when a person starts to feel closed in …. you can just go for a walk.

Well I guess it is time to get dressed and get going on this day.

I have relaxed long enough.

The laundry won’t get washed and dried and the tree will not get trimmed if I am sitting here on my “laurels”.

I wish you the best Saturday.

May it be filled with both work and play.

May you be surrounded by love and laughter.

Happy Saturday Everyone.

Special Hello to: all the writers out there ….. it is so wonderful to capture your life and thoughts on-line or on paper.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 21st day of July, 2015.

It is a wonderful morning here in Edmonton ….. the sun is rising, the rain clouds have almost dissipated and there is a bit of a breeze.

Forecast is for another warm one ….. not super hot and that is great.

On Saturday while at our Vet Clinic, I ordered a water bottle for Alvin.

One that I can carry while we walk.

Guess what …. there was a message from them …. the bottle is in.

Already, I am thinking….. wow, that is fast.

I guess with computers ….. no more paper orders …. just click and then it is in the mail or perhaps hand delivered.

I am so excited to see which one they could order.

Last night one of my neighbours called to come for a visit ….. I was drinking tea and made her a cup of coffee.

She loves the coffee that I make in my percolator.

Alvin loves company ….. he was so excited …..

We had a great visit followed by a walk with Mr. Alvin.

What a wonderful evening.

Do you ever think of an item that you could use but there is really nothing on the market?

Consider making something but wonder where do you start?

I was thinking about something…..

I will keep it a secret until I figure a few things out.

Who knows maybe I will re-invent something ….. just a bit different that is currently on the market.

Well here it is almost time to leave for work once again.

Where does the time go?

Sometimes it feels like someone is holding up a giant vacuum at the top of the world pulling moments up one by one.

Well doesn’t that sound a bit better than the actual reason?

I wish you an awesome Tuesday.

I know that this is going to be a great great day.

Filled with all good things.

Special Hello to: all my fellow bloggers, I hope that you are enjoying your summer(s).

Always, Carol and Alvin
