The NEW Year 2022

Good Morning ALL! How are you this morning? Alvin and I are doing great. We were in bed last night before 9:30 and I read for a bit, Alvin woke up at 4:00, we went downstairs for the usual and then to sofa until, wait for it ……. wait for it ……. 6:30 a.m. …… Can you believe it? I could not believe the clock. Of course, I did not add the 2:00 a.m. up for me to run to the bathroom. But all in all we had a great sleep. So grateful.

The wind is howling madly. I can see the orange horizon to the east, which is to my left, and darkness to my right. It won’t take long and the sky will clear of the dark. Even as I type these words the sky is becoming more light. So beautiful. I love the contrast between sunrise and night. I noticed that the water outside did not freeze overnight as I can see the puddles rippling with the wind. I guess this will help melt the snow once the sun begins to shine.

Mr. Alvin is making an odd whining sound as he looks to his water dish from his bed. Is he thirsty? Likely. Not sure why he does not just get up. Now he has stopped.

Most of the snow has melted on the deck and it is so dirty (not sure why) and I will be able to shovel the remaining snow from the grassy area so that he can do his business down there. That is Saturday chore.

I am off from work this afternoon as I am taking Mr. Alvin to the Vet for his appointment. Thankfully I can borrow Sonja’s car so we do not have to walk in these conditions.

I guess he wants his water and of course, he needs me to be right beside him.

Okay, back now.

Last night we played with one of his favourite toys. I threw it and he ran like the wind and grabbed it and brought it back to me so that we could play tug of war. So cute. It was funny after we had been playing for several minutes, I decided to grab my phone and take a video. He immediately stopped and then played a bit so I was able to grab a bit of video and it was not until I put down my phone and stopped recording that he was right back into the action. He knows that he does not get 100% attention when I have that thing in my hand. Smart cookie.

Well time to go. I hope that you have a wonderful day. Almost light now.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilities.

Oh, one more quick story. Yesterday near the end of my work day, I called the client who had sent me the most thoughtful Thank You card to thank her. Well actually I called her earlier and had to leave a message, she called me back and then I returned her call. YIKES. Anyway, we had a lovely chat. She said that her son helped her pick out the card for me. I loved that she thought that I should be getting a raise for all the hard work that I do and that she was grateful to be living in our housing and have affordable rent. She was so sweet. We had the nicest chat and then it was well past my stopping time.

The New YEAR 2022

Good Morning ALL! Despite the rocky start to the New Year, things are starting to get better. Yesterday over my lunch break, I asked a neighbour to come over and check behind the stove to see if you know what was in the you know what! I won’t say because I am not one that takes taking a life no matter what lightly. All life is important for this Earth unfortunately there are some that are short lived. Anyway, K checked behind the stove and it was there, so it was disposed of properly. I felt bad but I also felt a massive sigh of relief and the anxiety that I had been feeling for two days was substantially lifted. I will not say that I was immediately anxiety free, as I was not. Continuing to work upstairs likely helped. After work I took a deep breath and started to empty the dishwasher, put away the clean dishes that filled the kitchen table and wiped the counter completely with disinfectant wipes once again before return any items. The only items on the counter are the electric kettle, food processor, stand mixer and the glass cake container which houses the bananas but I am using it as though they were a cake. They are covered. There are two containers with utensils. That is it. I also folded up some tin foil and placed it at either end of the top of the stove resting against the countertop. I pushed in more foil beside the bottom of the stove as well. It just gives me a bit more peace of mind. After that I started to gather some of the remaining Christmas decorations to put away. I even got brave on my own and went into the basement, not the furnace room but the “family room” and got some empty rubbermaid containers for the ornaments/decorations. In between I gave Mr. Alvin his supper. Every time I have food out I scrub and wipe to ensure there are no crumbs anywhere to be found. The lid from a new tin of Alvin’s dog food well I took it off the can, washed it and the can once emptied into a covered container and place clean items in a bag and put in recycling. NO CRUMBS. It took awhile but I managed to put away most of the Christmas stuff from the main floor. There are still a few things up and out but I think I will leave them until the weekend. I have to decide what things I will bring back up from the basement from my regular ornaments and things. I am again grateful to my neighbour for bringing me coffee yesterday late morning per my request and for her bringing me some today. Tomorrow the new coffee perk arrives and I hope it is early in the day. I will have to keep an eye/ear out for the delivery. My office is at the back of the office so not easy to see the street without getting up and physically going into my bedroom and looking out the window and I am unable to see the porch from there. Oh well.

All things considered it was a good day. Work is a bit on the scary side at the moment being short two people and issues with our computer system. I am happy that once again most of the anxiety has been lifted, erased. Although I am not able to sleep on the sofa in the mornings when we are up at 3 or 4 and 5 but I will in time. Poor Alvin has to make those steps a bit more often than he normally would. I do like having my workspace upstairs for a change but will have to decide if I leave it up here for awhile. Might be a nice change!

Well time to sign off. I hope that you are doing well. Hopefully things in your home are good. I am trying to remain positive and hopeful that this does not happen again. I fully realize that had I had the virus or everyone around me had it – I would have been in a much worse place. I did try and contact a professional but for a time yesterday I was unable to make outgoing calls or take incoming ones. That has now been rectified.

Continuing to live this life WITH kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilities.

Today is a much better day and I am so grateful for my awesome neighbours. I could not have got to this place and I am happy to be here both mentally and physically. Thank you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

The New YEAR 2022

Good Morning All! Well Happy New YEAR and Welcome to 2022. WOW. It is hard to believe. It is late already as Miss Cookie had us up at 2:00, then Alvin woke up at 4:00 and then again at 7:00 for breakfast. So chopped up sleep but that is okay. We do not have plans for this first day of January 2022 other than to bask in the gratitude that we have in being alive, in good health and good food to eat.

Did you have a quiet or loud New Year’s Eve? Funny story – about 7:00 p.m., I was outside picking up poop when I heard a loud noise, I looked up to see a large jet passenger plane. It was all lit up but at the angle it was flying over my house, I could not make out the airline. Of course, it was dark by this time. It was so low I could see the wings and all the lights and even the windows in the plane. Too low for sure. It was not making a straight descent but appeared to be circling back to the airport which is southwest of my home. We are in the flight path of the Edmonton International Airport and there are always planes flying overhead but never this low. I ran into the house to call my friend, she had heard a loud noise but did not think anything of it. This morning I have not had the time as yet to check the news to see if there was a plane in distress last night. Also, I figured if I did not hear any other loud noises or sirens, the plane must have made it back to the airport. I sure hope so. It was unnerving.

When I called my friend ended up chatting for quite awhile. I had planned to call my sister and brothers earlier in the evening and then watch a movie or perhaps one of the New Year’s Eve shows but plans changed. After our chat, I called my sister and my younger brother. I will call my older of the brothers today. I also called my daughter and son-in-law. Everyone was surprised when I said “Happy New YEAR” before midnight but most of us are long in bed before the stroke of midnight. As it turned out we did not go to bed until just before 11:00 and it was quite some time after that when the lights went out and then more time until Cookie settled down. She had a night which translated to “us all having a night.” Today is a new day. Soon Cookie shall be home with her family. They come home Monday night. It will be quiet without her for sure.

Yesterday while we were chilling as we have done for most of this past week, Cookie on her chair and Alvin and I on the sofa, Alvin was making a coughing sound in his sleep. Cookie jumped up off the chair and walked over to the sofa, went up on her hind legs and sniffed and licked Alvin’s face. She clearly was concerned. It was so sweet. Afterwards, she walked around the living room and on her way back to the sofa, she stopped and checked him out once again. I have never seen one of the dogs do that. She clearly was concerned for him. Of course, I was keeping an eye on Mr. Alvin, as well.

Well I suppose I should get going as it is getting on. I forgot to bring up my phone as I was carrying up pee pads. It must be past 10:00 a.m. already.

Alvin is laying outside the office and Cookie is scouring the upstairs for something. She is very snoopy or inquisitive and curious. I just heard a noise coming from the guest room and went to find Cookie into things. Alvin is giving her the what for at this moment. Not doing anything – just following her around. She just went to nip at him. I told her “no” and she listened for now. She is busy girl.

I ended up not having pancakes yesterday but this morning it is pancakes. I have milk to use before the expiry date so will make up a batch. Love pancakes.

The temperature is supposed to warm up by later this afternoon and then tomorrow start getting cold again.

I watched the FRIENDS REUNION in between phone calls last night.

Happy New Year’s Day.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilities.

2021

Good Morning All! How are you this Saturday morning? We are doing well. My first time in weeks using the computer to write this post and it feels a bit strange. Mr. Alvin is patiently waiting downstairs for my return. I have been upstairs for a bit as I had a shower, put on makeup (yes, I did), got dressed, made the bed (yup) and a few other little things (okay brushing teeth). I am so happy that we had our first sleep upstairs in five weeks. It did not go quite as I had planned or hoped. There was a glimmer of hope that he would be so happy to be in the bed again that he would not react to the harness and leash although he has been wearing it the previous couple of nights on the sofa. I had washed his harness and dried in the dryer. Usually I let it air dry and I think that perhaps it may have shrunk a bit. Anyway, it just looked uncomfortable. So I put him in the main bathroom while I ran back downstairs to get the one dog collar that I have and put that on him. Now he has only ever wore a collar a couple of times since he came to live with me so he was freaked out by the whole thing. Perhaps it was more that we were upstairs, I don’t know and will never really know. We will see what happens tonight. He/We slept until just before 5:00 a.m. which was good considering we went to bed at 10:00 p.m. I gave him his breakfast and we went outside in the cool morning air. Once done I thought we would have a bit more sleep on the sofa. This time I was going to try and just keep my arm over him but he kept jumping up. I honestly think that those metal gate things are giving him anxiety. So I got his bed out of the kitchen and put in the living room. I laid back down on the sofa and although it took him a couple of minutes he did lay down on the bed. So that will be our future routine when we get up in the morning. If we keep doing it he will get used to it and not get so freaked out. When we got up the second time it was 7:22 a.m. and just now a huge ROAR of THUNDER. The once clear skies are overcast and perhaps we are going to have some rain. That would be nice. Although I did plan to take him for a walk in the next few minutes and almost my friends are having my birthday party here at 10:00 a.m. It was supposed to be at Gillian’s house but with Alvin, I cannot leave him for that long or at least not yet. It is one thing being upstairs. Back to getting up…. I gave him a pain pill and anti-anxiety pill and some food. He has actually been quite good since I came upstairs. Only a few barks.

Perhaps he will finally get used to the new routine. I have to start getting ready upstairs and it would be great to do this post on the computer. I am still figuring things out on the phone. The set up is a bit different. I was not able to change the category and it has been saving as miscellaneous and things like that.

Well I had better get going. I have a few things to do before the party starts. I guess there will be no walk. Don’t need to get rained on or to be struck by lightning. Good thing that Mr. Alvin is not scared of storms.

So this is our life. Living with a senior dog and being a senior, Yes, I will be 64 on Monday. That just seems not right. My mind is still in the 1970’s most days.

I hope that you are doing well. Thank you for continuing to read my posts, I so appreciate it.

Time to go back downstairs. I am going to make coffee early ….. need some.

Feels strange to have makeup on ….. I have not even been putting my “eyebrows” on lately.

I think it is raining. Good thing that I did not have the chance to water the flowers. HAIL. It seemed like hail as coming down so hard. The party may be delayed if the rain does not stop. ARGH.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, understanding, love and gratitude.

2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you doing on this rainy Tuesday, June 8th, 2021? Both Alvin and I are great. We, Alvin slept through until 5:00 a.m. – that is amazing. So at least I feel as though I had a decent sleep. It is raining as I alluded to in my opening sentence. It just started raining about half an hour ago. I have to run out and ensure that the downspout is turned the right way and clean up you know what from a little while ago when Alvin was out. The forecast is for rain off and on for the next couple of days. There were points yesterday where the sun did shine. Last night I made an executive decision to put most of my flower pots in the garage and the others close to the garage and to the house for some shelter as they do not require that much moisture. Also yesterday one of the girls on my work team let us know that it was hailing at her home. So decided not to take the chance. I cannot do anything about the plants in my flower beds but at least I can help out the flower pots. I very much want them to last until say October. So I watch the weather – if it looks like a huge downpour / hail is in the forecast I move them into the garage or to some shelter. The garbage guys just picked up the trash. I love when I can look out of my office window and see green. The trees are full leaved now and are beautiful.

Yesterday my kids made a quick stop to drop off some items that they picked up at the freecycle and some items they no longer wanted and that I could use. I got a chair that I am using in my bedroom, two chairs for the kitchen and a desk and a flower pot. The flower pot is an exact match to a ceramic one that I acquired a few years ago. Sweet deal. We had a short visit and then they were off.

As it was raining at noon we did not go for a walk and in the morning we were reeling from lack of sleep so our walk waited until after work. It was actually quite nice at that time. I wore a light spring jacket as it was a bit cooler.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I went from 3000 photos on my phone to 285. I went through most of them. The ones remaining are a few that I choose to keep and the remaining are ones to be uploaded to my computer. YAY, me. Feels so great.

I cannot remember if there was anything else that I was going to tell you or not. Oh, last minute ….. Master Teddy is coming at 10:00 a.m. to spend the day with us. His parents are going to the farm for a bit and Kobi is going to the groomers. So Teddy will come and hang out with me and Alvin. Alvin will have company while I work. He will be happy.

Well time to get going. I want to check on the downspout and do the other thing in the backyard …. starts with p and ends p ….. three words. Can you guess? Think about it. I gave you some clues in my post.

Wishing you a wonderful day.

Continuing to live this life day by day with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love and gratitude.

Always, Love Carol & Alvin

P.S. one more thing. Yesterday the doorbell rang so we went to the door to find this gray-haired older man standing on the bottom step holding a sign. The sign was from Canada Roofing. The guys that are going to do our shingles. Only thing is they have not confirmed this and I have not signed a contract as yet. Kind of out of order, I would think. Anyway just wanted to share. I am excited to finally have new shingles on our home.

2021

Good Morning ALL! I hope that this finds you well and enjoying this Saturday, June 5, 2021. Alvin and I are up and at it. He has already had breakfast, I am washed up (still in pjs for the moment), bed made, laundry gathered and writing this post. I am hoping to get out shortly and get a walk in before it rains. Rain in the forecast for today. This seems like a great opportunity to work on my photos on the computer and on my phone. I was attempting to download my recent photos from my phone to the computer but alas it downloaded older photos which are already on my computer. Not quite sure about what is going on but I am going to delete and clean up both my phone and computer. Figure out what is already on my computer and delete them permanently from my phone. Why oh why is it so difficult to delete photos from your phone or anywhere really. Most times we have a billion of the same shot. Even the ones that are out of focus are sometimes hard to depart with. Do I have a problem? Or is this what some of you are experiencing as well? Can you let me know? I know that I have a problem, somewhat. Even back in the days of film and printing them (which by the way we don’t do much anymore, or is it just me?), I had a hard time throwing out the shots that were totally black. Anyway, I am working on this issue and luckily with technology those days are gone. We can take multiple shots in the moment and usually have at least one that is good for our collections. My collections. OH my goodness. I have over 39,000 on the computer which is down as I have been slowly going through them. I also pay a company to backup my photos so why do I keep them all? Not sure. I have almost 3,000, I believe on my phone. Which is another story. Most of those photos are on my computer which is backed up by yes, that company. I also paid extra for room on the cloud. Something about not being able to see although the company that backs them up, I can access and see them. I have to figure things out as clearly there is a pattern here, lol. Perhaps if I was more comfortable with technology and could trust in it, I would be able to let go. I have that song from FROZEN in my ….. Let it Go, Let it Go …… I say that often in my life. Oh well. My issues for the moment. Shortly I will be dressed and we will be walking out the door. I am looking forward to spending the day looking at photos. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday. Also doing laundry ….

I hope that you are doing well. Time to get this show on the road. We want to walk before the rain hits.

Have a splendid Saturday. Trying to use some new words as typically we use the same adjective and adverbs over and over and over again.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love and gratitude each and every day.

Happy Saturday.

Always, Love Carol & Alvin

Now that is a view on a rainy day……

2021

Good Morning ALL. How are you? We are great. There is great cause for celebration in my house. Actually I have been smiling and doing a little jig since 5:25 p.m. last night. I was just about to throw in my eggs with broccoli and tomatoes into a pan to be cooked when the phone rang. I removed the pan from the burner and turned it off quickly before reaching for my phone which was not far away. The caller was GUARDIAN (hospital where Alvin had his surgery). My heart felt like it did a small jump or perhaps it was me temporarily not breathing, as I answered the call. The caller identified himself as Alvin’s surgeon (said his name) and we chatted for a minute or so about his recovery before he explained the purpose for his phone call. He said that the results were all back from Alvin’s tests and were earlier than first expected. As I started to write down the most important things, I asked him to repeat something and he said don’t worry I am emailing you the reports and they will go to Alvin’s Doctor as well. First thing he said was no cancer anywhere, no Cushing disease, nothing bacterial and of course, he used different terminology and I sometimes had to ask him to explain in non-medical terms. At the end of it all of the tests which included testing the lining of his bladder, biopsy of his liver and of the stones from his bladder – everything came back negative. He said he of course is starting to show signs of aging but he is 12 and that is natural. The only change for Mr.Alvin is his diet. He will go on an Urinary Diet SO, I believe he called it. Diet I can handle. I told the Dr. S. that I had not given him any human food, none of his favorite treats like bananas and blueberry and carrots. I asked him if the fruits and vegetables that I gave him would hurt him in the future and he thought not. He also said to discuss his diet with his Doctor which I will be doing later this morning, in fact in two hours when his stitches come out. We had a nice chat. He also mentioned that he will need to keep his water intake around the two cups of water each day. That helps to keep the stones from forming. I am glad that I asked him how much water he should be drinking. I measured his water dishes and could tell that he drinks at least that much and perhaps a bit more each day. YAY, Mr. Alvin. At the end of our conversation I thanked him and the team profusely for the care and support that they have given to us. He said if I ever had any questions to email him. I have his email. How nice is that! Cannot say enough about GUARDIAN Emergency Animal Hospital. They are simply the best. Oh, I also asked about the dental chews that he has now in the pantry …. we went over the name etc. and he said that he could have one. Alvin had gotten so excited when I pulled his container out of the pantry so I was happy to comply.

We are also celebrating the 41st birthday of my beautiful daughter and Alvin’s beloved sister, Amanda. She is coming to pick us up and drive us to his stitch removal appointment this morning. Then she is going to pick up some groceries for me including the items that I need to make her “fruit pizza” birthday “cake.” A bit later she will go home so that she can get her family ready and then return here for a birthday celebration. A celebration of life, really. This day holds extra meaning today. A day filled with so many blessings and much gratitude. I have much to be grateful for and I know it. I feel it and I own it.

Happy Birthday to my darling daughter who is the most compassionate, kind, respectful, patient, funny, intelligent, creative, tech savvy, wonderful, thoughtful, gentle, loving of course, girl – woman. She will always be my little girl.

I cannot wait to celebrate later today.

I do know and believe with all my being that “Thoughts do become Things.” Alvin’s results were proof of that. I just kept thinking to myself ….. he will be in great health and only have to change his diet and he was.

Well time to go and have a shower, then breakfast and coffee and before long we will be at the Vet getting Alvin’s stitches removed. Tomorrow is supposed to be +10 degrees celsius and we will be going for a nice walk. Both of us have cabin fever ….. a need for fresh air and time with nature.

Continuing to live in kindness, respect, compassion and patience.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Second Half of the NEW YEAR – last quarter.

Good Morning ALL, what a gorgeous sunrise this morning. My daughter sent me a photo of the sunrise from her home. Absolutely breathtaking. Another weekend on the books. I took a day of vacation so I am not working at the “office” or kitchen table today. Good thing as the table is filled with odds and ends of items that need to be placed or hung up. Yesterday was a busy day. Beautiful weatherwise as well. We had a great Sunday. I took down all of the Halloween decorations and slowly brought up and unpacked all of the Christmas decorations. That took some time. I got quite a bit of decorating done before my daughter arrived. She had to make a couple of stops for us at Costco and Dollar Store (poop bags for you know, who?). After she arrived we had coffee and I made her lunch. I have made this yummy dish and it was a hit with her as well. Very simple but delicious. The dish was oven roasted chickpeas with yummy spice blend and olive oil, I caramelized onions and wilted spinach in same pan. When all done …. chickpeas bottom of bowl, topped with onions and spinach and then topped with some of the salsa, my good friend gave me, homemade. The jar is almost empty and I am sad. So yummy and so delicious. Back to Christmas story. After lunch my daughter checked out a couple of things on my phone and computer for me and then we were at it. First off, we moved one of my chairs upstairs to my bedroom. The green one, for those of you who have been to my house. I miss having it downstairs but is nice to have it in the bedroom. Alvin really looked at it last night at bedtime. We had our favourite “THE GRINCH” movie playing in the background as we worked. It did not take long to assemble the tree and then put on the lights. I was prepared. I decided that I would decorate the tree afterwards as she had spent so much time picking up groceries and the poop bags for us. Also I wanted to get a walk in while the temperature was warm. So that is what we did. Once home from our walk with a minor detour at Teddy’s house. Alvin also wants to go in and see his buddy. This time I let him lead the way. They as always were happy to see us as were we. At home I fed the boy and then had some popcorn and a small bag of chips for supper. Yes, I know not really supper. I also had a banana. Just wasn’t hungry for much and I wanted to decorate the tree. Before the tree I wanted to finish submitting orders for the “TEA PARTY.” So that is what I did. After I was done, it was already almost 9:00 p.m. and I already see some things that I want to change regarding the decoration placement on the tree. Always the perfectionist. But it is up and I can play with it as I usually do. The fireplace mantle needs some adjusting of decorations. I have everything pretty much unpacked and needing a bit of tweaking and then that will be done. YAY. I also want to give Mr.Alvin a bath this afternoon, rake the leaves front and back, pick up trash on our block and some odds and ends.

I am hopeful that later I can figure out why I cannot upload the photos from my phone to the computer. Then I can upload and share. One thing at a time.

Time to get this show on the road. Already past 8:30 a.m. Time certainly does fly when you are having fun. Oh and I have a couple of loads of laundry to do as well. This time I am happy that I am on the late shift tomorrow as I start at 11:00 a.m. …….

Wishing you a great Monday.

Living our lives with kindness and respect.

I/We shall remain, As always, Carol & Alvin

Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

Good Monday Morning,

Why is it that the weekends have to pass so quickly?

Sunday nights have always been for the most part “sleepless” for me.

I cannot seem to turn the thoughts off.

I toss and turn.

I think about what needs to be done at work.

The thoughts just keep rolling and rolling and tossing and going on and on.

Drives me a bit off the deep end.

Then come Monday morning ….. I just want to stay in bed.

Likely I am not alone in this respect.

Anyway we did have a nice weekend.

I got some things checked off the TO DO LIST.

Had coffee and a lovely visit and some laughs with two of my girl friends.

I chatted on the phone yesterday afternoon with my youngest brother.

The only thing that was frustrating this weekend was the loss of cable.

Connection not working.

I called the phone number for TELUS and an automated message stated that the wait would be just over one hour.

I could wait on the line or receive a call back, I decided to go for the call back.

Almost two hours later, no call back.

So I called with my cell phone.

At three o’clock, I decided to go on the computer and try their online help desk.

After less than five minutes I was chatting with someone.

She was going to “reboot” the connection.

After a few minutes she called me on my cell.

After one hour …. nothing ….. I unplugged and plugged every cord twice or three times.

Waited till the cows came home and nothing.

So after 4:00 p.m. she asked me if I wanted someone to come out.

YES, please I said.

So I have a tech person coming out this afternoon.

What a waste of the afternoon except for the chat with my brother.

Anyway, I am running late of course.

I definitely need coffee.

The help line is located in the Philippines.

I asked.

She said that they only have a few staff in Canada.

Well I thought at least we are employing people in other countries.

But at the same time we have lots of people that need jobs here.

Telus is likely not paying them much compared to what they would have to pay them in Canada.

Oh, the greed of large corporations.

Another story for another day.

We did manage to squeeze a walk in before supper.

I also made this yummy quinoa dish.

Just threw it together.

So happy.

I hope that you have an amazing Monday.

Be safe.

Keep well.

Have patience.

I managed to have some yesterday from 12:30 – 4:15 p.m.

With kindness and respect.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

Good Saturday Morning,

Yesterday was our Humphrey the Cat from next door’s 6th Birthday.

He is a great friend to Mr. Alvin.

I didn’t realize it was his birthday until later in the morning so I missed mentioning it here.

He is quite the character and we love him dearly.

I was thinking about how blessed both Alvin and I are to be surrounded by so many friends.

Both of us have a great many friends.

Do I have friends because of him?

Does he have friends because of me?

I don’t know for sure.

Perhaps a combination of our personalities and his cuteness, of course.

I am grateful that Alvin has a great home.

Alvin endured a rough beginning but the majority of his life has been great despite a few health hiccups along the way.

Nothing serious health wise.

I would always wish that both him and I continue to be in good health.

My wish would be when it is our time to leave this place that we simply go to sleep and not wake up.

Okay off that subject.

We slept in this morning …..

As usual we were up earlier and Alvin had breakfast and went outside for his morning “constitutional.”

After that we laid on the sofa and both dreamed away.

I did wake up at 7:30 ish and looked outside to see it was still dry even though the sky is filled with rain clouds.

Thinking that perhaps we should get out for a walk before it rained.

But then my body and mind …. said “no way” and then ….

It was after 9:00 when Alvin and I got up and really started our day.

The sky is overcast and it just started to rain a bit ago.

We will find a spot during the day to go for a walk.

Yesterday we walked at lunchtime and then again after work.

So what is on your plate for this Saturday?

Mine, I think will be doing laundry and washing the main floor.

Bit of cleaning.

The blinds still glare at me each time I open and close them.

They are the one thing on my list that I did not complete during my vacation time.

So they do need to be cleaned.

Procrastination, perhaps.

I don’t mind cleaning them but ….

They will get cleaned at some point.

Have to be cleaned before winter for sure.

I think that it is the whole job that now seems so daunting.

There are blinds on every window in the house so that is a lot.

But maybe if I do the main floor one weekend and the upstairs the next, it won’t seem like so many.

Also it won’t take all day to do them.

Yikes, now it is all about the blinds, lol.

Another item on my agenda is another haircut and bath for Mr. Alvin.

Man, it seems like only yesterday that I gave him a haircut.

Because he is not a huge fan of getting a haircut, okay not a fan at all, I am trying to trim a bit from his paws each day.

That will help when I do give him a haircut.

What a guy!

Writing I am writing my book.

I have not been writing every day, I will not tell a fib.

But I have made some great progress.

I have a lot of material already written which helps.

I have to get it all in one place to edit and then write in the missing pieces.

This happens when you write everyday for most of your life.

The work has been done in some cases (depending on what you are writing, of course).

But I do have a lot of material for this book.

The book about my life with Alvin.

Photos.

I have them, too.

I love looking at photos in books.

So definitely will include some of them.

I also have our “family photos” that my daughter takes every year of me and Alvin.

Alvin really has not changed at all.

Me, on the other hand, well that is a different story.

So to end this post, I will post some photos of our dear Humphrey.

A belated Birthday Tribute.

I did post some photos on Instagram yesterday.

Happy Birthday Humphrey

I searched and searched and was not able to find one of my favorite photos of Humphrey and Alvin sitting on our bed looking out of the window.

Always realized how many photos I have of Humphrey.

When you are looking for something specific through 40,000 photos …. not easy to find.

Also a great reminder to clean up my photos on the computer and on my phone.

I found duplicates and bad shots.

Oh my goodness ……

I hope that you are having a great Saturday.

Time for coffee and breakfast before you know it …. it will be noon.

ARGH.

Oh well …..

Blustery day so good time to get things done in the house.

Just got a text …. coffee tomorrow morning with one of the girls, the other is away.

Always nice to have coffee with a friend.

Wishing you the best Saturday filled with kindnesses and respectfulness.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin
