It is a NEW YEAR.

Welcome to Friday, the 12th day of June, 2020.

The sky is slightly overcast and there is a cool breeze wafting through our office window.

Alvin is resting on his little bed beside me.

Birds are chirping in the near distance.

I am attempting to download/upload my photos from my phone to the computer.

For some reason there is a snag and it does not look like I will be able to post some photos in today’s blog.

There one minute gone the next.

I guess my poor computer is getting old and downloading to add to the thousands of photos that I have saved to my computer is getting to be too much.

I sure hope that my computer can hang in for a few more years.

Alvin’s dental cleaning went great yesterday.

He had one incisor root molar extracted.

Not one of the large grinders.

So his appointment went well.

I spoke to the staff at the clinic three times before I picked him up.

First time they called to let me know that his Doctor had found a loose tooth and wanted to confirm okay to remove.

Also to let me know that they had a hard time finding a vein for the anesthesia.

Apparently Cocker Spaniels do not have great veins.

I don’t remember them having to try all four paws until this time.

Perhaps age has something to do with it.

Second time they called was to say that the surgery was over and all went well.

Anyway as he is older they give them a lower anesthesia so I guess he was active.

Mentioned should be ready for pick up between 2:30-3:00 p.m.

Our Jenn called at 2:00 to say that Alvin had woke up and wanted to come home.

I said I am on my way.

They always make a point of saying not much water or food initially.

But with Alvin …..

Another story.

I gave him a bit of water and he wanted more.

I tried but he fussed until he had enough.

One hour later he was eating.

and Eating.

and Eating.

He did not vomit and was not a bit in the least off.

He jumped up easily onto the sofa.

Two or three hours later I went upstairs and he followed.

Climbing with ease.

I am so grateful that he is a tough guy.

Kind of like his Momma.

So grateful to Dr. K and her Staff for taking such great care of him.

He is on painkillers and antibiotics.

Actually think that the painkiller has already dissipated and next time is supposed to be around noon today.

They gave him a shot yesterday.

So we are pretty much back to normal here.

I am so grateful.

He did get up to pee at 1:18 a.m. but then slept again until 4:35 and was hungry.

He wanted a biscuit a few minutes ago so I caved and gave him one.

Stubborn is not his middle name.

But it should be.

Oh, me Alvin.

Looks like photos will have to be for another day.

Getting close to time to start work.

I need some of the coffee that is sitting in a to go mug beside me.

Wishing you a great day.

Filled with promise and laughter.

Living each day with kindness and respect is the only way to live each day.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

We will need to post a newer photo of the two of us.

This just happens to be one of my favourites.

Thank you to my super talented Photographer Paper Collage Artist daughter.

Motorbike just started and made both of jump.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 3rd day of March, 2019.

WHAT a glorious bright and SUN SHINY morning.

Warmer weather is on the way and that in itself makes me HAPPY.

Doing a little HAPPY DANCE while sitting in my chair.

While eating a late breakfast we listened to the latest episode of THE LAUNCH.

Oh how lucky I was to see a new song written by Bryan Adams.

I love his voice and have listened to him since he started before he was BRYAN ADAMS, the headliner, the famous photographer.

My sister and I went to a concert where he was the opening act for another well know band of the day.

I can still see him standing on the stage in Regina, I know how I was feeling but cannot tell you the date.

He stole the show.

That VOICE, he just pulls you in and you are there forever.

Love, love, love Bryan Adams.

Thank you Bryan Adams for being Canadian, so proud of you and what you have accomplished.

Funny thing I have always loved words and putting them together.

I have written poetry for years.

I would love to be song writer, no singing but love the lyric aspect.

Perhaps someday something I write will be sung by Mr. Bryan Adams.

Wouldn’t that be crazy.

He is the same age as my sister, he will turn sixty on November 5th, this year.

Happy Birthday early Bryan.

Well time to hit the shower, as I have a coffee date in less than one hour with my girls down the street.

Followed by some cleaning and pulling together receipts/invoices to complete my Income Taxes.

I know some changes that I am going to make to ensure things go more easily next year.

Wishing you a Happy Sunday.

I am watching Mr. Alvin sprawled out on his blue blanket by my chair.

Life is good.

It is Sunday, the sun is shining and I have my buddy beside me.

Special Hello to:  You ….. have a wonderful day …… just relax and enjoy this ride we call life.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 24th day of October, 2017.

Another beautiful day on the way.

So grateful to have these warm FALL days.

It will make WINTER shorter and more enjoyable.

Can you believe that Halloween is one week from today?

That makes November 1st next Wednesday!

Oh my goodness ….. Christmas decorating just around the corner.

We have scheduled the big event for Friday, November 3rd, 2017.

My daughter is coming to help me.

I saved the DEEP DISH APPLE pie that my friend sent me a couple of weeks ago for that evening.

It is safely sitting in the fridge freezer.

It will be a great evening …… my daughter over …… not just apple pie but DEEP DISH apple pie …… DECORATING the CHRISTMAS TREE.

Over the weekend, I will finish off the decorating.

Once Halloween is over, I will decorate outside as well.

Hopefully the weather holds out for the little TREATERS and for ME.

Lots of things coming up.

My favourite times of year are back to back.

I have already started the thought and preparation process for our gifts.

Also we had our photos done and it turned out great.

Me, Alvin looks so cute.

I am grateful that my daughter is a photographer, professional one at that.

We should all take a step back from the retail madness and make some personalized gifts for family and friends.

I know that if everyone did that …. retail would suffer ….. people would not get as many hours.

But as things change ….. times change …… jobs change….. the way we do things …..

Well here we go …. almost time to leave for the bus.

I hope that you all have an awesome day.

Maybe this year …… make one gift for that special someone.

You can get lots of ideas from PINTEREST and the WEB.

Check them out ….. magazines, too.

Happy Tuesday.

Special Hello to:  CRAFTERS …… keep doing what you do…

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 22nd day of November, 2015.

It is beautiful outside.

The sky looks like a summer morning with pale orange and white in the bottom layer of sky graduating up to pale blue.

So pretty.

What an odd night.

Alvin was eating again in bed ….. what a guy.

He woke me up at three as he needed to go outside.

So downstairs we went.

He went outside and then back upstairs where we slept until 8:00 a.m.

Guess what is missing?

He did not wake me up at 5:00 a.m. to EAT.

This is HUGE.

Unless I was in such a deep sleep that he could not wake me but I always hear him.

BIZARRE, hey.

Nevertheless he was more than happy to eat his breakfast at 8:00 a.m. patiently waiting until I made the bed and got dressed.

I mean patiently …. do you think he forgot?

Quite funny coming from such a foodie such as Alvin.

Anyway we are up …. first thing glass of lemon and water for the Momma and write this blog before starting laundry, having my breakfast and getting things done.

We had such a great time yesterday.

I love spending time with my girl.

The drive to Ponoka was awesome …. roads were dry as a board …. only a skiff of snow in the ditches and fields.

That is it as they say.

We arrived just before they were about to eat so we sat with my nephew in their dining room.

He surely has a great appetite and he did great.

Mostly eating by himself with a bit of help pushing the food onto his spoon made specially for him.

Afterward we went to the main lounge with him and had BIRTHDAY CAKE, he loved the cake.

Said “YUM” several times.

He was very happy to see us.

Face lit up and gave lots of hugs and kisses.

I found out that he is back to his old self, such a flirt with all of the girls including his cousin.

Kind of funny.

Sometimes we would hit a word that we could not understand but managed to work through it.

I cannot believe the progress he has made.

Sits in the wheelchair on his own.

He cannot walk yet I think in time he will.

We took him for a walk outside for about an hour just breathing in and enjoying the fresh air.

It was so nice not really cold at all.

We even saw a squirrel who managed to get in a few photos.

That is what happens when you have a photographer in the family.

Snapping lots of photos which he enjoyed.

It was a great day.

He loved the photo album that we took for him.

He has four now and he treasures them.

The nurses say that he looks at them all of the time.

It was hard to say good-bye but he is in such great hands.

Until next time.

The drive home went quickly and before you know it we were back in Edmonton.

Alvin was happy to see us.

My daughter stayed for a bit as we discussed some of the things to do before the craft show this coming Friday.

It will be fun.

Well I had better get this show on the road … I could write all day long but that will not get any of my tasks completed.

I hope that you had an awesome Saturday.

One thing I found …. sometimes a simple gift such as a book of photos is the best gift of all.

Simple is better most of the time.

Thank you to my neighbour for being with Mr. Alvin ….

Okay time to fly here …..

Special Hello to: all of those people who have a family member or friend with a brain injury, it is a long journey and sometimes things are never the same but it is important to remember that life is what you make of it ….. enjoy what time you have together.  Love is the best language as it is from the heart and there are no words necessary.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 4th day of September, 2014.

Just starting to get light out at 6:27 a.m.

Ah, the warm/cool days of autumn are upon us.

By the calendar or rather Mother Nature not officially until near the end of September.

I love this time of year and wished that it would last until at least January.

The temperatures are comfortable for a sweater or light jacket most days.

You can still wear sandals but light socks in a shoe is good as well.

The leaves are starting to turn colour and before long they will be a mass of oranges, reds and yellows.

Alvin and I are starting to prepare for our annual family photo.

I already asked the photographer and she said “whenever you like.”

Are we not the luckiest people to have a resident family photographer.

So on this September Thursday I hope you are well.

I know you are likely struggling to some degree to get up the past few mornings ….. you are not alone.

Unless you are a true morning person …. you have likely been wishing to stay snuggled under the covers.

Oh well, this too shall pass.

Our bodies will acclimate to the changes …. our minds will follow.

SO I hope that you have a great day.

Take a walk and enjoy nature.

By the way, our roses down the street by the entrance to the lake are still blooming …. oh they smell divine.

Love them….. definitely in my top ten loves.

Special Hello to: my family and friends back in Regina – miss you all.

Always, Carol and Alvin
