Thought for the day …..

Good Afternoon and Welcome to Tuesday the 27th day of December, 2016.

Well we slept in a bit and then received a call from my old neighbour who invited me over to see their new house and to have coffee.

It is so nice out – just perfect for a walk which we will be doing shortly here.

I guess the tree and decorations will be staying up for a few more days now.

Looks like New Year’s Eve I will put everything away.

I had a wonderful visit with my friend and old neighbour and they have a beautiful home.

Alvin was so excited when she stopped in to pick me up.

He patiently waited at home while I went for a visit.

Can you believe that today is the 27th already …… some people already back to work others of us so grateful to have more time at home.

I have some things that I want to do before heading back to work but have decided to just let the days go as they will……sometimes good not to plan everything.

I have a couple of items on my list that I want to get done but otherwise I plan not to plan.

Good to just relax and breathe.

Last night I SKYPED with my sister for over an hour, which was nice.

I love being able to see her as we chat …. the next best thing to being there.

Mr. Alvin is patiently waiting so this will be short today.

Not much on my mind other than I am so very grateful to have some time off at home.

Time to do whatever I choose.

Or nothing.

So Happy Tuesday Everyone ….. enjoy these last few days of December.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 8th day of August, 2016.

Today is the birthday of two special people in my life.

Happy Birthday to “S” who is married to my nephew and she turns 40 today.

We wish you a great day.

Happy Birthday to “K” who is a co-worker and friend.

We wish you a great day.

August is a big birthday month for family and friends.

I know so many people who have birthdays this month.

In case I missed your birthday – Happy Birthday.

 

Well I am “sort of up” as I am working today and tomorrow.

I know it seems odd to be on vacation for a week and then back for two days and then off the rest of the week.

But that is the way it just worked out.

Nice to work a short week although getting up this morning was a bit of a nightmare as I did not sleep at all last night.

Note to self: do not look at FB before bed.

I saw something that brought me to tears.

The human race never ceases to disappoint me that is all I will say.

Never again will I refer to “MANKIND” as mankind because we are anything but.

I need to get the visual out of my head as I get ready to go to work.

But it is not out of my heart and I do plan to speak up.

 

 

The sun is coming up and the sky looks clear .

A good day ahead weather wise.

The deck does not appear to be wet so no rain overnight.

 

Well time to go downstairs and have breakfast.

The house is quiet as Mr. Alvin is away visiting his sister.

Oh, I just caught a glimpse of the sun rays bouncing off the neighbour’s garage.

 

I hope that you will be a good citizen of the world in all that you do.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 22nd day of March, 2016.

Well we have SNOW and more SNOW …..

A SPRING snow storm.

I shovelled when I got home from work and two hours later it was covered again.

The temperatures remain warm which is nice.

I know that it will not last.

Funny how we can go from almost no snow to a thick blanket.

Well that is MARCH.

March is truly an unpredictable month for sure.

 

Alvin had Elton for company yesterday.

Our dear Elton is pretty much deaf except for loud whistles.

I was so warmed that Alvin is not so competitive with him.

He let Elton take the lead and when I was trying to get Elton to go outside he went out first and looked at Elton.

It was as if to say “Come on buddy, time to go outside.”

So cute.

I love having Elton visit.

Good for both our boys.

 

It is the time for renewal ….

Time to think of what to plant.

Time to think about cleaning out your closets.

Time to do some spring cleaning.

Once the snow melts and the temperatures warm …. time to get some serious stuff done.

I noticed that the fans needs to be cleaned / dusted again.

Time to get up on that step ladder.

One way to get up in the world…… or not.

But it is always good to go through your things and give/toss/recycle what is not needed/worn.

We all have so many things that truly are not required ….. good to share.

It has been almost one year since I really went through my closets so it is time.

 

One of my friend’s has been spending the odd night with us as she is staying in Edmonton while her grandson is in the Children’s Hospital.

It is nice to have the company and to reconnect with an old friend ….. we have know each other for near 40 years.

 

It was funny Alvin was pacing back and forth by her bedroom door this morning and was waiting for her to open the door with tail just a wagging.

So cute.

 

Well almost time to finish getting ready for work.

My friend will drop me at the bus so YAY me I don’t have to walk through the snow.

But just in case on Sunday I did retrieve my winter boots from the basement closet.

They forecasted snow and I figured that I may need them one last time.

So I will be wearing my winter boots.

Better not to wreck my shoes.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 11th day of July, 2015.

Mr. Alvin just groaned as he plunked himself down on the floor beside me.

Now he is up….

Looking at what, I do not know.

Perhaps he is just listening to the sounds of the vehicles in the distance on the highway.

Now he is laying on the carpet/rug outside the office with eyes up starring at me.

When I am at home – he is almost always close by.

In so many ways he is like a child ….. he feels like that to me.

I am always amazed by how much he wants to be near me.

I know that this morning he was somewhat disappointed when there was no banana and only a handful of strawberries.

He sure is used to what he is used to …… routine.

But that is okay ….. most of us beings on this planet are into a routine.

In fact, we are better when we are in a routine.

Or at least that is my thought ….

Most of us are happiest when there is a routine …. things go according to plan ….

So today there is a plan but most Saturdays are unplanned to some degree.

I guess that is true on the weekends for most people.

We have things planned and then there is unplanned time.

Well just heard from my friend who is putting up the boards ( I cannot think of the actual name) that cover the insulation and vapour barrier) ….. oh my goodness my brain …… he is coming over in a few minutes and I still have my p.j.s on so must get going.  It is almost done ……. yay.

As we lay there sleeping wrapped in the big white fluffy blankets, I dream of childhood and Christmas; my favourite time of year, and there was one in particular.

When we moved into the new two story house on the farm my bedroom was on the main floor just off of the living room ……. I had a birds eye view of the Christmas tree ….  this one year I wanted to wait and watch for Santa ….. pretending to be asleep …. once  I heard noises figuring it was Santa I waited for him to leave ……  slowly opened the bedroom door and getting down on my hands and knees  crawled out toward the tree ….. only to be stopped dead in my tracks by my Mom’s voice “GET BACK TO BED” ….. I had been so quiet ……

My favourite Christmas was 2005  …..  the log cabin in the mountains …. the clear night sky …… the stars shining so brightly …… the food …… the stone fireplace ….. love and laughter ….. feather comforters …… coffee by the fireplace ….. the best place in the world.

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 5th day of November, 2013.

How are you this morning?  I am doing great.

If you could start your own business what would it be?

Would you do something from home?

Would you run a shop in your community?

Would you be located in a large shopping mall?

What would you do?

We all have ideas.

Most of us never get any further than the actual idea.

Why is that?

Fear?

Money?

Both?

I wonder.

I listen to people talking and I think most people would love the opportunity to do something that they love out of the convenience of their own home.

Now perhaps at some point the business might excess your space at home but to begin with that is all you need.

Whether you are baking the world’s best chocolate chip cookies or making mittens or designing and making jewellery or perhaps writing a self help book.

Making holiday baskets and perhaps Christmas decorations.

There are truly so many things you can do to make extra money.

You can buy things and resell them.

So if you find yourself hovering on the edge of the cliff with a good idea but do not have the “guts” to go forward; I say GO FOR IT.

I am sure that anyone that has ever started a business was at some point “hovering on the edge of the cliff” …..

Put together a plan and just do it.

So have a great day.
