Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 19th day of November, 2016.

Sky is overcast at just after 8:00 a.m. and there is a light dusting of snow covering the ground.

Busy day ahead for me and Alvin.

Some company, laundry to do (always), cleaning (always), preparing for a TEA PARTY tomorrow at one of my neighbours and

then whatever else comes our way.

Yesterday I was so excited I took a small amount of vacation time and went to West Edmonton Mall from Work.

I wanted to check out the big sale at SEARS with hopes to buy some, wait for it, wait for it ….. new …. new

UNDERWEAR.

Yes, I was so excited to buy some new underwear.

It is a big deal as it is one thing that is super expensive and we always wait until what we have is almost falling apart.

I received a gift card from my neighbour for looking after her gecko, Cinder while she was away.

So I am proud to say that I spent the card and got some new underwear.

Now I have to part with the old stuff (some I was not able to replace it all).

Perhaps there will be a lotto win tonight so that I can replace every old piece.

Would that not be the best shopping trip ….. to buy all that…. mmm, a girl can DREAM.

Well hopefully I have made you giggle, laugh or just smile at this point.

If that is the case my job is done for today.

Take some time and smile.

Think of all of the people that you love and care for and for all of your great memories.

No matter where you are in your life or where you have been (trust me I know); you can always find good memories.

For some people they may be in short supply or for others they may be living a dream life, full of awesomeness.

No matter …… at some point there was something that was great/good.

I hope that you have a great day.

You are so special.

You are wonderful.

Take care.

Special Hello to: all those folks who read my blog, I so appreciate your time.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 24th day of October, 2016.

Wow what a grand Sunday we had with our company.

My daughter and grand-puppy Elton came by for several hours.

We had a pancake breakfast, coffee, went through our jewellery for the upcoming sale, visited some more and even had time to take the pups for a

walk before they left for home.

My daughter managed to take some video and photos of the pups on our walk.

Mr. Elton continues to have that gait to this walk.

He is so cute.

It was a great day.

Now back to work.

Seems like those two weekend days always go in hyperdrive.

Oh well.

Gives me the opportunity to use such words as hyperdrive.

My futuristic word.

Not that it is really applicable to much in this day and age.

I suppose there may be a few things.

We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of jewellery we have as we have taken a break from the jewellery business as of late.

We each had some that we did not realize ….

Well actually since we lost our beloved Penny in March.

Sometimes you just have to take a break.

Take some time.

For me, it is not so easy to be creative when you are working “two” jobs.

But as we both love being creative we will return to the jewellery making at some point.

In the meantime I have decided to do custom pieces when they are requested.

Well I have to go as Mr. Alvin needs to go outside before I leave for work.

I hope that you had an enjoyable Sunday.

Thank you for sharing your time with me.

I hope that something I write brings a smile to your face and joy to your heart.

That is what life is all about being joyful.

Special Hello to: all my friends and family.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 11th day of October, 2015.

The wind has been howling since the wee hours of the morning (all night) along with some rain.

I always find it scary/interesting when it appears that the clouds are moving over head.

I am just on my way to have coffee with one of my girl friends.

YAY ….

I will admit (but not to everyone) that now being at the halfway point of my four days off that I have not accomplished anywhere near what was on my list.

In fact, I did tear up the list and write another one.

There has been time spent with Alvin ….. we went on a nice long walk yesterday after the Scentsy party …. it was gorgeous …. over 25 degrees Celsius …. SO NICE.

So decision has been made ….. have the list and do what you can …. plus take time to play with Alvin and also time to relax.

One important item for today after the coffee date I am going to go through my upstairs office and get this room back in order.

That is a for sure item.

We can crank up the music and just go at it …… toss what we do not need.

I must admit I had not been to a Scentsy party and I really enjoyed the scents.

Almost felt like I was cheating on Bath & Body Works …..

Is that not sad.

There has to be a good mix for everyone, right.

I did have a great Saturday ….. after our walk ….. Mr. Alvin had a bath …. now he is looking extra cute.

At bedtime I have been reading “How to See YOURSELF as You Really Are” by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

These few lines I thought were important to share to everyone at this time:

“Each religion works to lessen suffering and contribute to the world; conversion is not the point.  I do not think about converting others to Buddhism or merely furthering the Buddhist cause.  Instead, I try to think of how I as a Buddhist can contribute to the happiness of all living beings.”

This really does say it all …… no matter what your religion, trying to convert others to it, is not the point, all that truly matters is that we all contribute in our own way

to the happiness of all living beings. (not just humans).

Perhaps if we spent less time trying to make each other like ourselves and more time working on happiness we would be in a better place.

Just wanted to share on this Thanksgiving weekend.

Have a great Sunday.

I am off to have a cup of coffee and share in conversation and laughter as we do.

Special Hello to: my sister and her family, to my brother and his friends, to my brother and his family and to YOU ….. Happy Sunday.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 26th day of September, 2015.

Well it started out being overcast and now at this point it is bright and sunny.

There are still a few clouds but it is sunny ….. doing the happy dance.

I am excited as today is my third Steeped Tea Party, second one on my own.

My friend “D” is hosting and it is going to be fun.

We are doing LATTES.

Only my second time making them so should be interesting and FUN.

My neighbour “S” just popped by and had a cup of coffee with me.

We had a nice visit discussing several topics.

Lots going on in our world as of late.

Alvin was so happy to see her.

Today is my son-in-law’s birthday, Happy Birthday “S” ….. me and Alvin wish you a great day and look forward to seeing you tomorrow for supper and cake.  Alvin has a present for you.

Today is also another birthday ….. another friend’s Mom has a birthday today …. she will be at the Tea parTEA.

So almost time to go and have a shower and get ready for the parTEA.

Make sure that I have everything ready to go.

I wish you all a great Saturday.

Remember to take time for yourself…..a few quiet moments to reflect and recharge.

Special Hello to: the Birthday folks …. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.

ALWAYS, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 19th day of September, 2015.

It is a warm, bright sunny morning here in Edmonton.

WOW, it is the weekend and I am so happy.

Mr. Alvin has his regular monthly pedicure / other checks appointment this morning.

When I mentioned the receptionist name “J” he jumped up and gave me a kiss.

Safe to say that he loves this girl.

It is so funny he is always excited to go and see “J” and the other girls that work at the Clinic but when he is having his nails done he is not so happy.

At least I do not have to carry him there ….. now that would be something.

After I write this blog it will be time to get ready and go.

After I get home I am going to make me a pot of coffee and set down and write up my TO DO LIST.

There are items that must get done over the next few weeks plus the routine items such as laundry and cleaning.

Did you have a good week?

I hope so.

It was good at the office ….. busy as per usual.

I like to be busy but it is always nice if one can be “caught up.”

It has never happened since I started at the office.

It is the nature of the beast so to speak that one always has an inflow of work.

Never to be “caught up.”

Well one of the things on my list is to clean out the closet in this office.

I have kind of stashed things in there since the kids moved in April.

Well that is not entirely true.

It has always been my gift closet, craft storage, odds and ends storage.

But it is time to go through it and see what is needed and what is not.

Last weekend I cleaned out the guest closet and it looks great.

One closet at a time.

Closets are always interesting.

We always seem to put things behind doors just in case we might need them.

Eventually the doors barely close and you have to make some decisions.

Otherwise you become a hoarder or sorts.

I am not making light of this issue for sure.

So many of us ….. keep things thinking we might need them at some point.

Part of this comes from not wanting to do without.

Part comes from perhaps laziness.

Part comes from history …. depressions ….. wars….

There are all sorts of reasons.

But for me, it is the thought I might use it.

I have found that since I turned 50, I do find it easier to “toss” and “give” things away when I am not using them.

There is something freeing about it actually.

Well I had better go and get ready to start this day.

I have a bit of a headache … maybe because I have not had coffee yet.

But it will have to wait until we return from the Vet.

That is usually a quick visit …. so I won’t have to wait too long.

I wish you a Happy Saturday.

I wish you great pride in whatever you accomplish or not.

I wish you time to relax.

I wish you to be surrounded by love and laughter.

Special Hello to: my friend “M” who brings back fond memories.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thoughts for the day….

Pets are like children.

Last night Alvin woke up at 2:00 and then at 4:00.  I was able to convince him to go back to sleep “ALVIN, go back to sleep”, I said.

That was the first time.  The second time at 4:00 ….. no way.  He jumped off the bed (yes, he sleeps with his Mama, spoiled “nope”).

At that point there is not much hope that he will return to bed …. so that is my queue to get my butt out of bed and go downstairs.

So I go down and I grab my shoes and we head out to the backyard.  He does his “business” ….. okay peed and pooped.  Double good.

Anyway ….. seeing as though it was only 4:10 by this time, I figured that I would set the timer on the microwave so that I could catch

a couple of extra winks.  So I did just that.  Alvin laid down (sort of ).  Then I was awaken by the alarm and it is a buzzing noise.

Most annoying.  The alarm is upstairs of course in my bedroom.  Yes, I had forgot to turn it off before heading downstairs at 4:00 a.m.

By this time it is 5:00 and Alvin is ready to eat.  So I turned off the alarm.  Feed Alvin and see that there is still 11 minutes and 47 seconds

left out of my 60 minutes that I had entered into the microwave clock.  Okay gotta go here.  But you get the picture.

Your pets are like your children.  They basically RULE the household.  I love Alvin with all of my heart but I sure wished his inner alarm

clock would go off when my alarm goes off….

Anyway thought for the day ……. we spend most of our life “training the kids and training the pets” and some are lucky to throw a spouse into the mix.

If you happen to be a spouse and reading this ….. please do not take offence.

Have a great day.

Always, Carol

Thought for the day……

Something that I learned today ……  I went out for a bit this morning with my neighbour and two of her three children.  Alvin as always, upon my return, is happy to see me for about 20 seconds, LOL   before he starts biting at my toes and pulling on my pant legs (not bad if you have pants on) LOL but …..   After we had lunch we came upstairs (yes, he had to have his carrots, broccoli and cauliflower) to check my email.  As I was trying to put away a couple of things he continued to try and bite at my feet and pull on my pant legs.  When I sat down at the computer,  Alvin went into my bedroom and jumped up onto the bed (I thought that I heard his thud) and grabbed the stuffed FROG that I have sitting on my bed and started to make his getaway, but Mom was faster.  I grabbed the frog.  Put it back onto the bed.  As he was tugging on my pant leg, I took his face in my hand (gently, of course) and looked him right in the eyes and said in a stern voice, “enough, Alvin, no biting” and lo and behold, he stopped and went and laid on the office floor.  Sure hope this works the next time.  Or maybe that will be the last time that he grabs my pants or my feet.  One can only hope….. ….  🙂

So in case you haven’t figured out “what the thought for the day” is, it is this:  always look someone in the eyes when you are trying to get a point across or just telling them that you love them.  They will take you definitely take you seriously.

Have a great day.

Always, Carol
