It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Morning,

How are you?

We are well.

Alvin slept from 9-3 and then we slept until 5 a.m.

So that is a good stretch for us.

How do you sleep?

Sleep is so important.

I totally understand why Alvin sleeps the way he does.

He sleeps (not proven) all day and then we go to bed early.

So that first chunk of 6 hours is a lot.

I am grateful that he does go back to sleep otherwise it would be a mighty long day for me.

I suppose after a time I would adjust as most creatures do.

Just heard a loud noise from the back of my house.

There are no lights or movements.

Guess one of the neighbours was outside.

Will check things further when we go back downstairs.

Anyway what was I saying?

Oh yes, sleep.

Without sleep we do not rejuvenate our bodies and minds.

So it is very important for us to keep enough sleep.

I love to get 8 hours sleep although it does not seem to happen all at one time.

Generally I get pretty close but it is broke up.

Oh well.

So Tuesday.

What is on with Tuesday?

Work for me.

What for you?

Are you perhaps soaking up the sun on a beach somewhere?

Going to work like me.

Are you retired? and enjoying life at home with vacations from time to time.

Do you go to school?

Are you without work?

Are you independently wealthy and do not have to work?

So many questions?

You know me, I work in an office.

I also sell Steeped Tea, NORWEX, pet sit and from time to time house sit and look after yards (water flowers).

So I keep pretty busy most of the time.

Although the sales part of things are mainly repeat business.

For all of this I am eternally grateful.

With all of this I am able to look after Alvin in the manner to which he has become accustomed.

Oh my Alvin.

Last night we went for a walk.

The air felt so nice and warm.

There was not even a hint of a breeze.

We were doing pretty good as we turned the first bend going around the ponds/lakes at our nearby park.

There was a big ice/water patch, Alvin hit it first and one or two paws were immersed in the water.

He quickly moved to the side and I look anxiously for a place to walk to get around this patch and could not find one.

I accidentally turned and Alvin figured it was time to go home.

So home we went.

We enjoyed the warmth of the sun and the walk even though it was not very long.

I cannot wait for the time when the sidewalks are clear of ice and snow and water.

The snow we can deal with but eventually it becomes ice or water.

Oh well.

Funny how as warm as it was yesterday during the day ….. it is double digit cold this morning.

Well almost time to head downstairs to put the finishing touches on getting ready for work.

I will investigate things when I go outside to pick up the poop that Alvin left behind for me, earlier.

Wishing you a grand day.

Grand, yes, I said “grand.”

Not a commonly used word any longer.

May your day be filled with love, laughter and abundance.

Take care.

Thank you for reading my posts, this blog and staying with me on this wild, wacky journey.

Okay, perhaps not so wild but definitely has been wacky from time to time.

Can you hear the laughter?

Have a great day.

Living … One day at a time.

Hello to a gloom grey sky.

Just going to be a quiet day for us.

I think because of the gloomy skies, it would be a great time to share some colourful photos.

Photos taken over the years.

Flowers and Nature always bring a smile to my face.

Hopefully will bring a smile to your face.

I always find that when the sky is grey and rainy – flowers bring joy to my world.

Also Alvin does that as well.

Our children, our fur babies, adult family and friends …. they all bring us joy.

Wishing you a quiet, happy, healthy Sunday ….

With kindness and respect our days will be good.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

What a beautiful Friday morning.

The sun is shining and there is a cool breeze.

Catching the bus to work today so the walk to the bus will be glorious.

Quick story.

Last night after work Alvin and I joined our friend for a walk.

We chatted as we walked along.

When we reached the larger pond/lake to the north of us; we spotted on the path, the flock of geese from our ponds.

Yes, they are our geese.

They were just hanging out on the sidewalk and grassy area.

We walked the other direction so as not to disturb them.

They did not move as single persons walked by them.

No hissing or any movement, really.

Surprised that they are so “tame” but not really.

Not really a good thing for a wild creature.

We chatted as we walked.

Alvin did the sniffing.

As we walked along and looked back over the pond/lake we saw that they had gone to the water.

The large gaggle of geese were swimming at the far end.

On our way home on the pathway just down from where we originally saw the flock … we spotted one lone young one.

Definitely got separated from his family.

We carefully and quietly walked closer.

We watched and kind of herded him to safety.

Which meant down the sidewalk and across a busy street to OUR pond/park.

We did not wish that he would get scared and accidently walk onto the busy street.

My friend was on one side and we on the other.

Alvin was so good.

No barking or anything.

We stopped traffic to cross the street.

Me, Alvin, my friend and a young goose.

What a cute sight.

Only wished that I had my phone with me to take photos.

When we were across the street and we were parting ways.

I heard a noise and looked back to see the flock coming down the busy street.

They had cars stopped all over the place.

I could tell people were anxious.

Also by that time a woman and two small dogs came along going to cross there and we asked that she wait.

So patiently everyone waited …

When the geese got to the next street to cross …. Alvin and I blocked off the street on one side so that they would cross.

That way if anyone came … they would STOP.

I am happy to say that ALL the geese got home safely.

Did you know that they lose their flight feather in the spring/summer and that is why they do not fly.

I guess it is so that they will not fly away on their offspring OR perhaps because they have to eat lots for the journey in the fall.

Anyway it was quite the adventure.

Most fun walk ever.

The young goose …. well he was reunited with his family.

HAPPY ENDING.

Love those stories.

Well time to get Mr. Alvin outside …. for one last bathroom trip.

Then will have to take off for the bus.

SEE what kindness and respect do ….

Applies to geese as well.

We treated them with kindness and respect.

Happy ending….

Happy Friday.

Weekend here we come.

My daughter is giving me a ride home from work.

YAY.

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

Feeling great this morning as the sun rises higher in the sky spreading its’ light and clearing the night.

The grass is the most brilliant green, my favourite shade of green.

I love Kelly Green and the grass seems to be just that shade …. that wonderful hue.

Makes me smile.

I am wearing my favourite light cardigan …. yes, you guessed it “KELLLY GREEN.”

It makes me happy and if I could wear it everyday or had multiple KELLY GREEN sweaters / tops I would wear them everyday.

This shade of green goes with absolutely everything.

In my mind, anyway.

It goes with Alvin as we stroll down the street.

It provides a good back drop to my navy pants and black ones.

It lights up my face and brings me joy.

Definitely makes me smile.

Isn’t it great that a colour can do all of that?

Absolutely, it is.

Perhaps your Kelly Green is Purple, Blue or Pink.

Whatever it is …. make sure that you wear that colour a good portion of the time.

Making us feel joy is a good thing.

Last night Alvin and I walked with our friend P.

We took the long route and it was glorious.

The rain drenched grass and trees are so GREEN right now.

So beautiful.

P counted the goslings that were out and out with their parents.

The total was “30.”

All sizes.

I must take my phone and snap some photos with the camera.

Just in case you have not seen goslings as of late.

Perhaps you have not seen them at so many different stages of growth.

Almost time to leave for work.

My carpool is back to work after a nice vacation to Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Yesterday after I arrived at the bus stop in the morning – my neighbour pulled up in her car.

I didn’t call her for a ride as I did not wish to be a bug.

So I was blessed to have had a ride to work.

Great way to start the work week.

There is a breeze blowing the divine trees as I look out of my office window.

I feel so blessed to live in my own home.

I feel so blessed to have eyes that I can see the trees swaying in the wind and to see the GREEN.

I feel so blessed to be surrounded by love and support of family and friends.

I feel truly blessed that Alvin chose me.

What a great way to start the day.

Remember to be kind.

Be grateful.

Feeling grateful brings you to a good place.

We all need to be there.

Follow your heart and your instincts.

Life is great.

Some small bumps along the way.

But that is life, isn’t it.

Happy Tuesday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

We actually had sunshine, clear blue skies yesterday for the first time in days.

I hope that this means that the forest/wild fires to the north of Edmonton are perhaps lessened.

But more than likely it is because the wind changed.

Yesterday was quite warm.

I brought Humphrey the cat over to spend the day with me and Alvin.

Again they never cease to amaze me.

Sharing the space.

I felt bad taking Alvin for a walk last night as I know how much Humphrey likes to walk sniffing as he goes.

But he was in the backyard for time over the course of the day.

He is quite the cat.

We walked at 7:00 p.m. thinking it was cooler than earlier but only to find out it was still quite warm.

Thankfully I always carry Alvin’s special water bottle/dish with us.

We did not see the geese who were probably near or in the water keeping cool.

In between things yesterday I even left them for a short time while I headed to the grocery store.

Seemed strange but they did great.

Today is Sunday.

Love Sundays.

Pancake breakfast.

Oh, I forgot to grab the frozen blueberries out of the freezer.

Will have to do that right away.

Also going over to pick up Humphrey the Cat (have to make sure that he did his morning ritual before he comes over to spend the day).

Cinder the Gekko has to be fed.

I wished that I could bring her over to my house, too.

Also am going to give Alvin a trim and a bath.

That should be fun.

We always enjoy those, not.

Well in this very moment; I am gleefully happy.

Feel great.

Sitting at the computer clicking away on the keys while Alvin waits outside the office door.

Not sure why ….

I think he knows that his friend will be here shortly.

Spending the day with animals is wonderful.

They warm your heart.

Well time to go and look after my charges: Humphrey the Cat and Cinder the Gekko.

I love my life.

It would be great to be retired with no mortgage and spend my days writing stories and looking after our four-legged creatures.

Alvin, Teddy, Humphrey and Cinder.

Perhaps others from time to time.

Okay, Living … One day at a time …. you never know what will happen.

Does not hurt to look forward a bit as long as do not dwell.

Happy Sunday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living …. One day at a time.

Hello,

Bright sunny morning …. no wind as trees are not swaying.

If you are in the moment and paying attention you will see things that you have not noticed previously.

Like the baby geese – goslings.

We have SEVEN goslings – yes, we counted.

Last night when my friend P joined Alvin and I for our nightly walk – we saw them.

Just little …. so not too old.

Carefully out of sight unless you are paying attention.

Mom and Dad proudly and efficiently taking care of their brood.

So cute those babies were/are.

Fluffy.

They are by our ponds at the park near our house.

My friend P is very good at being in the moment.

Nature has so many amazing, wonderful, beautiful creatures for us to behold.

Moments in time for us to just enjoy.

Day 4034.

That is today.

Equates to 11.06 years.

Not taking into account leap years.

Which would mean more calculations.

That is the number of days and years that I have been consistently writing in my journal/gratitude journal.

Every morning before breakfast, I write.

I started keeping a journal when I was 13 and even before but consistently since that age.

I have a large container full of notebooks filled with the words that I have written over the years.

One day, I shall start reading them.

Well looks like almost time to leave for work.

That time certainly comes quickly.

Have a wonderful day.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 30th day of March, 2019.

There is a beautiful sunrise this morning.

The sky is clear and blue.

Alvin and I are preparing for our company.

Master Teddy, Alvin’s BF will be spending the day with us.

Our house always feels full of energy when Teddy visits.

We simply love him.

He has good energy and a wonderful spirit.

Last night we went for a walk after I got home from work.

I was home much later as I caught the bus home and then had to stop for a few things.

First time in forever that I bought a bag of groceries and it was under $100 and then under $50.

All we needed was some veggies, dish soap and toothpaste.

This morning we will be taking a walk over to Alvin’s Vet to pick up food and toothpaste for him.

It will be a nice walk for the boys.

I am hoping that the sidewalks are mostly dry.

Having two pups to clean upon arriving back home could prove to be interesting.

Oh well, I will be prepared with a wet cloth and towel.

Back to the walk last night.

Alvin got very muddy once again.

We seem to find every bit of water and dirt no matter how hard I try.

We walked for 45 minutes and once again he had energy to play with his “DUCK.”

So that is good.

More exercise – more energy.

Food for thought.

Well on that note time for breakfast for both of us.

I wanted to have a shower before breakfast and before our company arrives.

Feeling fresh and ready to conquer the day.

If you have a chance go for a walk.

The longer the better.

Walk by a park or a pond and take in nature.

So soothing and good for the mind, body and spirit.

Happy Saturday.

From our home to yours.

Have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to:  all the creatures on this Earth.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 21st day of July, 2018.

Absolute perfection outside this morning.

We were up at 5:00 as Alvin wanted to go outside and then to eat his breakfast.

Back to the sofa for some extra zzz’s as on a Saturday who NEEDS to get up for the day at 5:00 AM if not necessary.

So we did and then about 7:30 Alvin started to stir and finally just before 8:00 I was up ….. basically grabbed him and off we went for a walk.

Covered up my PJ’s with a long sweater.

The air was cool and refreshing.

SUN high up in the sky already but not hot.

The water fountain in the pond was turned on and the sound of the water was delightful.

We had a great walk and even picked up the odd piece of trash along our walk.

Once home turned on the first load of laundry.

Our plans changed as my daughter and grand-pups were to come for a sleepover.

So we will just get some extra housework done – like the BLINDS, argh.

Sounds like they will come tomorrow for a visit – perhaps come for PANCAKES as I have all of the ingredients.

That would be WONDERFUL.

Coffee is perking and I love that smell as it wafts through the house.

Madonna is singing AMERICAN PIE …… love that song.

I have GREAT news – misunderstanding as I thought that my sister would only be here for a couple of days at the end July / start August.

She will be here for almost one week ….. YAY …. so excited.

I love having my sister at my house ….. we LAUGH and LAUGH and LAUGH.

Crazy girls …..

Well I guess it is time to get to work.

Perhaps should have some breakfast …..

Could even sit outside and soak up that glorious morning air.

I hope that you are enjoying your day and that you have great NEWS this day or soon.

Special Hello: to my sister …. so happy that you are able to come and be here for extra time.  FUN is on the way.

Always, Carol & Alvin
