2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you this Monday morning? We are doing well. I will say that we are still working on the sofa arrangement. Why is it when we used to sleep on the bed but would end up on the sofa, we would be comfortable and have a good sleep? I can nap sitting up with my head resting on the soft pillow backing of the sofa but cannot seem to settle down to sleep.
But it is something that I am going to get sorted out over the next several weeks. Making the most of our newly changed life. Which is temporary, yes it is. We had a great sleep last night. Up at 1:00 abouts to go outside for a pee, nope not me but Mr. Alvin and then slept until the alarm went off at 6:30. So happy. Feeling rested.

Yesterday was great. The temperatures were a reprieve from the heat of last week. So grateful that our air conditioning will get serviced on Wednesday and then we can enjoy comfort without having to sit/lay in front of fans.

I am so grateful to to my friends. Gillian picked up my favourite bread: sourdough and stayed for a visit. Most of our visit was enjoyed out on the deck and near the end of our visit we moved into the house as Alvin was getting warm. Poor guy.

Later another friend dropped off bananas and we visited on the front porch.

I am so lucky to have great friends that help, support and feed my soul.

If you are blessed to have good friends, true friends, people that are there in good times and in bad, you are very fortunate. I am fortunate.

Now that we are not able to take our daily walks, I have noticed that when Alvin sees another dog out for a walk, he will stand up on the sofa and stare. Poor guy, I hope that once he has the surgery he will recover quickly so that we can resume our walks. In the meantime we can enjoy the view from the sofa of our tree and our small view of the neighbourhood and our backyard. Thank goodness for flowers, our little patch of grass in the back and our deck. Life is good.

When life sends you lemons you can choose to squeeze them and make lemonade or add the zest to a vanilla cake batter. All I mean is that we can choose how we are going to go forward in any situation. Sometimes things are not easy but as long as we remember that we make the choice as to how we react in every situation. Our reactions are how we survive, how we live and how we are perceived by others.

So today on this musical mystery tour we call life, we will, I will have a great time. I will be kind and respectful of others. Patient and Compassionate with Alvin. Understanding, loving and grateful to myself and to all others.

Always, Carol&Alvin

2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you doing on this Tuesday the first day of June 2021? Alvin and I are well. I was going to get up earlier and go for a walk but I cannot seem to get my butt going at 6:00 a.m. (likely due to my multiple times up to go to the bathroom last night due to drinking lots of water yesterday). I guess it will take a few days for my body to adjust but I am trying to get back on track and to drink enough water to be properly hydrated. I am looking at the clock and we have time to go for a walk before I start work. So this is going to be a throwback Thursday …….. what was going on this day a year or two ago? I always like to check so this is the perfect day to do so. Sky is overcast at the moment.

June 1st, 2020

Good Morning All,

A bright beautiful sunny breezy Monday morning here in Edmonton.

What a great weekend we had despite my tumble down the stairs on Friday morning.

My daughter dropped by on Saturday to help her Momma give her little brother Alvin a haircut.

I still cannot believe we cut 1/3 of the time off the time it normally takes me.

Teamwork.

I was slowed down a bit on Saturday and even early on Sunday but now I can walk okay.

I will say that the bruising is still ugly but that likely takes a few days to fade away.

We hosted a great birthday party for our friend “G” yesterday morning.

Most of the party was held out on our deck in the bright warm sunshine.

We ate the birthday cake in the house as it was hot and I feared that the cream on the strawberry shortcake would melt.

A great time was had by all.

G’s Mom came as well as she was visiting.

The four of us ladies and Alvin had a great time.

The rest of the day was beautiful until it was not.

Well into the afternoon the sky clouded over.

By late afternoon/early evening it was very windy and raining.

I put away all of the cushions away.

I even put the umbrella in the garage as it was forecasting 100 km wind gusts

I took these photos from my bedroom window last night during the wind.

The flowers are so pretty and the first two photos how can you tell it was kind of breezy.

Well time to get to work.

Running late ….. one would think with no commute that a person would be early.

Well I am not late for work as I start at 8:00 a.m. but I like to be starting before that time.

There is lots of things to do as one signs into the computer.

I hope that you have an awesome Monday.

With kindness and respect,

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

We hope that you have a great day. Going to go and get in a quick walk before work.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love and gratitude.

Always, Love Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 9th day of March, 2019.

WOW, one week into March and one week closer to spring.

The first day of spring is fast approaching but will it be the actual date that spring arrives.

Time will only tell.

This coming week we are to have above zero temperatures and with that more SNOW.

I shovelled twice yesterday …. once being leaving for work and once after Alvin and I went for a walk.

When we walked only about half of my neighbours had shovelled.

Alvin did his hop jump through the snow dragging me behind him.

What a sight that must have been.

For some reason once again we were up about 3:00 and now have been up since before 6:00 a.m.

Early, early for a Saturday.

Normally on the weekend we are up a bit later …. say 10 p.m. and then up about 8:00 p.m.

Not today.

At least on the bright side, I will have my work done early.

By 7:00 a.m. I will have my blog posted, bedding changed, laundry gathered, and the first load of laundry in the washing machine.

Also coffee on and starting breakfast.

Already did some work on my taxes this morning before this post.

I guess there is something to be said for getting up early.

But I am up at 5:00 or earlier during the week ….

Oh well …..

Today will be different …. will see what happens.

The sky remains dark out of my office window.

Must be overcast.

No light on the horizon.

ARGH, does that mean more snow for today?

No, please no more snow.

I just want birdies singing, buds on the trees and blades of grass sticking out of the nearly melted snow.

Is that too much to ask?????

Am I having a moment, sorry I am.

Well I better hop to it.

Lots to do.

Really looking forward to coffee this morning.

Have an awesome day.

Remember …. no matter what happens ….. SPRING is closer than WINTER.

Winter is ending ……

Happy Saturday.

Special Hello to: all my friends and family ……

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 30th day of October, 2018.

Second last day of the month.

Tomorrow is HALLOWEEN.

Are you ready?

I have my costume and accessories all ready.

In fact, I took my accessories or props, if you will, to work yesterday.

Now I just have to don my costume and I am done.

Simple and done.

Thank you to my friend “G” for lending me one of her costumes.

I am really grateful to my friends.

My friend “N” fixed my kitchen chair better than new.

I had to run over to another friend’s last night to drop off a package to be mailed to a friend in Saskatchewan.

Canada Post offers free shipping on Tuesday to all small business owners who applied for a business discount for specific posting.

While I was at her house, our friend N walked the chair over and it was waiting on my porch when I arrived back home.

I called their house right away and Alvin was barking when he heard his friend outside but no way for him to open the door.

According to his wife, he sat on the chair on the porch for a couple of minutes.

That would have been a cute sight.

I am surrounded by amazing, supportive, funny, good, awesome people that I am blessed to call my friends.

How did I get so lucky?

That is a question for the ages and one that I am at a loss to answer.

Thank you to my friends who I am over the moon grateful to have in my, in our lives.

Both Alvin and I are very lucky.

We went for our walk last night and Alvin turned to head home well before the half way point.

Not sure why.

Perhaps it was because when we were closer to home we saw one of our friend’s little guys outside.

He ran over to say hi to me and Alvin.

His Mom was right there and we chatted for a few moments.

They are the family with the big puppy named STELLA.

Stella is doing great and next door is a 4 year old dog named SCOOBY who is the best fit to be her friend.

He is a lively, full of energy doggie as is Miss Stella.

We were out for a walk one day and Scooby’s Dad was dropping him at Stella’s for a playdate.

How cool is that!

Guess that click on KIJIJI was meant to be.

You never know what, when or why.

But live has a way of working out.

Well almost time to leave for work.

Have a great day.

Take time to take deep breathes and to relax.

Even if for a few moments each day.

A good reminder for us all.

Happy Tuesday.

I am excited for tomorrow.

Special Hello to: all my friends, a girl is blessed and so is her Alvin.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 19th day of February, 2018.

The sun is shining brightly.

The wind is blowing so it is not real warm outside.

Today is FAMILY DAY here in Alberta.

So we have the day off from work.

Alvin and I spent the morning thus far up and down from bed and cuddling.

Isn’t that the way most people spend FAMILY DAY?

We had a grand time yesterday with our company.

Teddy and his Aunt.

Company was good.

Food was good.

After they left I watched some of the WINTER OLYMPICS followed by a MOVIE.

So it was late when we went to bed and then I read for awhile.

Alvin slept until 5:00 a.m. which was one whole hour than usual.

It would seem that six hours is the magic number of hours of sleep at night for him.

So this morning we were up and down.

But that is okay …. most of our work has been done already.

Garbage day is tomorrow so you know what that means.

Also there remains looming in the backyard the enormous snowbank in the grass area.

We had a huge amount of snow when I had the flu and I never kept that area shovelled.

So today is the day ….. I see shovelling snow and gathering up garbage.

Shovelling will mean fresh air and exercise so that is good.

I think that Alvin will need his jacket.

Always have to watch that his paws do not get too cold.

They can freeze, you know.

It is quiet in the house, usually is in the morning.

Alvin is laying at the entrance to the office on the rug.

I am clicking away on the keyboard writing this blog.

Life is good.

I am so blessed.

When Teddy’s Aunt J and I were talking last night at supper about family and friends, I told her that I was so blessed and also very grateful for my daughter and son-in-law, siblings and many friends.

My kids are supportive and wonderful.

My friends, well I have the best.

No matter how I may feel every once in awhile, I truly lead a charmed life.

Sometimes in the moment things may seem dark but by the end of the day the light is shining most brightly and life is good.

So it is a decision to put your mind over matter.

To have faith in yourself and others.

To truly believe that life is good and that things will work out.

It is also true that working out may not mean that you won the lottery.

So on this FAMILY DAY …… thank you to my incredible loving, supporting, generous and kind family.

They make me laugh and keep me grounded.

Thank you.

Happy Family Day to EVERYONE.

Special Hello to: my FAMILY whether you are blood or chosen to be, thank you.  I am grateful to have you in my every increasing circle of life.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 27th day of June, 2015.

It is already very warm …. bordering on hot already and not quite 10:00 a.m.

Alvin and I left for a walk about 9:30 a.m. and cut it short because it was already warmer than the weather channel is posting at this time.

Back home closed the windows and turned on the air conditioning.

I am so so grateful to have central air.

It definitely ranks in my top ten of things I hold in high gratitude.

Tomorrow is to be 36 with the humidity.

At the moment there is a slight breeze and it bright clear sunny skies.

Well today is going to be a quiet day.

I have a few things that have to be done and other than that …. quiet …..

Regardless of a/c the heat just does me in …..

Poor Mr. Alvin needs a hair cut …. top of my list when I have a few days off from work after Canada Day next week.

Today I am wishing that wherever you are that you are not too hot or not too cold.

That you are safe from others and the elements.

That you have enough to eat.

That you are surrounded by love and laughter.

That you have and show respect for yourself and for others.

Happy Happy Saturday.

I am also very grateful to be visiting with some of my family tomorrow.

YAY.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. only one more sleep.  I hope that Canmore is not too hot today.

Always, Carol and Alvin
