The New YEAR 2022

Good Morning ALL! How are you this morning? We are doing okay. Not sure about Mr. Alvin. He seems to be freaking out more than usual. I don’t think he is in any pain but will have to keep a close eye on him. This morning it is pouring rain here. Last night my daughter came after work for a sleepover. So nice to have her in the house, we always enjoy her company. I made her favourite dish: chicken and vegetables stir fry and we had an angel cake with strawberries, blueberries and the whipped cream in the can. I had never used that until just a few years ago when I had a Christmas party here. I think it was December 2019. After supper Amanda helped me break down some boxes that I had in the garage and I have several bags of recycling as a result this morning for them to pick up. Also of course, in some of the boxes there was styrofoam and it is too difficult to break down so I basically filled my big black garbage bin with bags of plastic and styrofoam. I don’t like those things. The garage is getting more bare. My daughter is now on her way to work and it is just me and Alvin once again. I have been carrying him upstairs and down this morning and we are out of our normal routine. I also took the umbrella out with us so that he wouldn’t get too wet. I try to keep his ears dry and him, too. Of course, I dried him off when we got back into the house.

Yesterday at my lunch break we walked to our friend Pauline’s house to wish her a Happy Birthday. She was not outside and I was going to leave her a little package. I could hear Georgie bark in the house and I called out a couple of times and then out they came. We had a nice little visit before we headed back home for me to go back to work.

The sky is very grey, I think that those clouds are definitely planning to “hang” around for some time. I need coffee. It has been ready for a bit as I made it so that Amanda could take some with her to work.

I don’t have a clock in here so I had better get going. Not sure what happened to the date and time on my computer?

I hope that you have a good day.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilties.

Always, Carol & Alvin

PS: only 56 days till my 65th Birthday.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 9th day of August, 2016.

Last night it poured and poured and there were mighty roars of thunder and bolts of lightning.

The sky appears to be clearing which is nice.

Sunshine after the rain is always good.

There is a long list of people who share this date, this Birthday with me:

My Cousin “M” who is exactly to the day ten years younger than me, today is his 49th Birthday.

A friend back in Regina “A” who turns the big 40 today.

An old friend “D” who is exactly one year younger than me.

Happy Happy Birthday to all my friends, and may you all have a wonderful Birthday and year to follow.

I think it is strange how we always reflect on life twice a year.

Once on your birthday and the other when ushering in the New Year.

At this point today I am more than happy.

I have my own house which I have always, always dreamed of having …..

I am in good health.

I am surrounded by loving, supportive family and friends.

I have my partner in crime who is visiting for a few days at his sister’s house making our home very quiet.

That would be me Alvin.

My four-legged boy.

Miss you buddy but it is good for you to venture away from home once in awhile, out of your comfort zone.

He is a Momma’s boy and loves being at home.

Travelling in the car not so much.

I have been a few places …. done some things ….. I have created many things.

My most proud creation was/is my daughter.

So when you can rattle off a bunch of things that are positive and good and you live a good life ….. then reflection is a good memory.

I am thinking that I am going to take my umbrella as I do not think we are out of the woods yet.

So excited after work tonight my daughter is picking me up from work and we are going to West Edmonton Mall.

We will grab a bite to eat before going to see the new STAR TREK MOVIE.

I am beyond excited.

I love the Star Trek movies.

To see it on the big screen is also amazing.

Well here it is almost time to leave the house once again for work.

I hope that you all have a super great day.

I am.  I will.

I always want to extend my sympathies to family and friends who have lost dear ones these past few weeks.  You are in my thoughts and in my heart.

Special Hello to:  Happy Birthday loved ones and friends who celebrate this day with me.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 11th day of July, 2016.

Well it is much cooler out this morning with cloudy skies and a cool breeze.

They say with the humidity it will feel like 25 degrees celsius today.

There was such a nice breeze overnight so it was comfortable with the window open.

It was another much sleepless Sunday night.

Not sure what it was other than I sometimes find on Sunday nights that no matter what time I go to bed – I cannot close off my thoughts.

They come pouring in …. rehashing the days and then about the week ahead.

If there was anything the least bit stressful that happened in recent days I go over and over and over it until I am exhausted.

Certainly there are millions of folks in the same way …..

Oh well on the bright side I will sleep great tonight.

Me and Alvin had a great Sunday ….. so much company.

Basically when each batch of company arrived it was pouring rain.

It was pouring when the girls came for coffee in the morning …

It was raining hard when my daughter and Elton arrived just after lunch.

It was pouring on the way to and from the grocery store and I was thankful that I had my daughter’s car.

It was raining when they went home.

In the house we were dry and had a few laughs and share some stories.

After supper I had a visit with my sister via SKYPE.

It was a great Sunday and the last thing we did was go for a walk.

It managed to stop raining for a bit ….. so out we went.

What an awesome  Sunday, thank you to my company.

They keep me sane or almost.   Giggling out loud.

Today is the 13th Birthday of my grand-puppy Elton …

It has been quite the year for him to say the least.

We wish nothing but sunshine and rainbows for him for the rest of his life.

He is a sturdy old guy who seems to still have a swagger in his step and energy to rival some one much younger.

Happy Birthday Buddy ….. only great days ahead.

We love you so much and both Alvin and I send you hugs, kisses and our love.

Happy Birthday Sir Elton Hobbs.

So here we are once again ….. time to leave for the bus and to work.

The start of another week.

I wish you all sunshine and rainbows.

Happy Monday.

Special Hello to:  the Birthday Boy …. Sir Elton.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 10th day of July, 2016.

The sky is a dark blue bordering on a deep grey and it is raining.

It started just before we got up at 5:00 a.m. (for Alvin, of course).

Today is my company day.

In just a few minutes at ten one of my friends “G” is coming for coffee and then after lunch my daughter is coming for a visit.

I am excited.

Then to top off the day I will Skype with my sister and nieces after supper.

Oh my gosh, a sudden down pour …. my company may be late.

Well I guess that is what umbrellas are for ….

Just felt a wave of warm …. guess those hot flashes are not totally over.

Everything in Edmonton is nice and green.

Sunshine is what we need now.

Well I should go and finish the preparations.

I hope that you are blessed enough to share some of your time with special friends and family on this day.

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to: my friends back in Regina and all over the world.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 31st day of March, 2016.

Oh, the last day of March.

Guess what?

You will never guess what?

It was pouring rain here last night.

Cannot believe it …. March and RAIN.

SPECIAL FRIEND

People appear in your life day in day out.

Some come to stay while others come and go.

Some people you might have an instant connection with and others may not.

Some people you may be friendly with others become dear pals.

I have know “V” for many years.

We were friendly to each other and had a connection through our place of employment and also a family member on her side.

But it was not until I moved away to another city that we truly became good friends.

We keep in touch via social media.

She is one of those people that has a special and rare gift.

She is most kind and generous.

She is intelligent and hard-working.

She has a great sense of humour and perfect timing.

Yesterday I received an email via Facebook from my friend.

It read “CHECK YOUR MAILBOX.”

My heart jumped for joy.

I have come to realize that can only mean – good things.

But over the course of the day I had forgotten about the message.

Home after work – out for a walk with Alvin.

We stopped at the mailboxes.

It was not until I saw the special red mail key that I did my happy dance.

When I opened the mailbox there was a huge parcel inside.

We ran home ….

This friend had sent me some homemade goodies and chocolate from the REGINA EASTER BUNNY.

Complete with a card from the Easter Bunny apologizing for being late.

How cool is this friend.

Friends come and go but this one will stay.

How do I know?

Because she is kind and kindness always remains.

Thank you my friend.

P.S. the rice treat or Easter Bark as it is named was so GOOD.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

A poem for my friend.

Special Hello to: my friend “V” back in Regina ……

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday, the 13th day of August 2013.

Today is my last day off before heading back to work.

I have had a wonderful few days away from the office.

Started by celebrating my 56th birthday which was last Friday.

On Sunday my daughter and I drove to see the oldest of my brothers who is younger than me.

We had a great visit.  I only wished that I would see him more often.

It has always seemed to be that way with my family.

We truly love each other but for the  most of our lives we have lived several hours apart.

With children and jobs and sometimes not much money those trips to see one another just did not happen.

I want to make the best effort I can in the last half century of my life to see my remaining siblings as often as I can.

Family is important.

So on this last day of my mini vacation I must get the things completed that I had planned to do when I booked these days off.

“THE OFFICE” …… here it is the last day and I have not started in here.

Oh well, I did have the most lovely visit with my brother and the road trip with my daughter that we had wanted to have….

We did have an interesting trip to see him.

On the way down part-way there it poured and poured and even some hail.

We had to pull over to the side of the road three times before reaching his acreage.

But we did arrive safe and sound in the pouring rain about 40 minutes later than we had planned.

On the way home the sun was shining and it was a beautiful evening.

We decided to stop at a small town and have supper …. over one hour later we were on the road again.

We hit rain just about at Edmonton and then in the City it hadn’t rained.

We stopped at her house to pick up Alvin and then just a few minutes after getting everything in the house and moving my flowers.

The heavens opened and it poured.  Lots of thunder and lightning.

I am thankful to my brother for his hospitality and all of the vegetables from his garden.

My brother has a green thumb.

His garden is amazing.

He is just a great guy.  Warm-hearted and generous.

I am so grateful that I had an opportunity to spend time with him.

Well time to go and pick up some food for Mr. Alvin ….. he did love the peas I brought home.

The sky is overcast.  A bit cooler but still a lovely day.

Thank you for reading my blog and today I plan to read more of yours.

Special Hello: to all those August birthdays …..

Always, Carol and Alvin
