COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Monday, August 7th, 2017 and it is the 3rd day until my 60th Birthday.

How exciting is this?

I am preparing my blog in advance for Wednesday as entails quite a lot of prep work.

But has been a fun process for sure.

This whole turning 60 has been both a learning and memory process.

Sometimes looking back on a lifetime brings some challenges.

For one thing it is not easy to remember what you did at say age 4 or 5.

There are always the not so pleasant memories that stick fast to your memory banks while if you are extra blessed there are way more on the average/joyful side that you may or may not remember.

I think if I have a handful or two of unpleasant ones over this many years I have done well, to be honest.

But during my lifetime the good have far outweighed the bad.

So for that I am truly blessed.

Well two more blogs …….

Thank you for coming along with me on this Countdown to my 60th Birthday.

Always, Carol

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome and to Thursday the 5th day of November, 2015.

It is a beautiful morning here in Edmonton.

Alvin decided that he absolutely had to get up at 3:50 a.m. ….. yes, that is right “10 minutes to 4” in the morning …..

What on earth was the boy thinking?

I cannot imagine what was running around in his brain.

I know that at that time “The Momma was thinking ….. sleep …. I want more.”

But crazy Momma that I am, I reluctantly got out of bed …. made the bed and grabbed my “bunny hug” (hoodie, for those not born in Saskatchewan, Canada) and followed the boy downstairs.

Gave him his breakfast and then outside.

Part of the thing was his “chew treat” had been left outside …. I reminded him to bring it in but he did not.

So this is what happens ….

Note to self: if he has another one un eaten make certain it is in the house ……

He is so very funny ….. I bought this bag at his last appointment.

He takes a couple of days where he buries it in the back yard or hides it under a pillow or in plain sight in the middle of the floor.

Once that fun has been exhausted he begins the process of chewing it …. devouring it.

Depending on the size it can take a few hours.

I found that out about a week ago …..

Listened to him “chawing” away on it while I was trying to go to sleep …… two hours later he was done and I was exhausted.

Oh, my boy …..

Life is certainly not dull …

Oh, cute story …. last night just a few minutes after we had left the house on our way to the park …. we came across this man, little girl and a small dog.

We could see them in the distance and as we got closer I saw the cutest bundle of black fur ever …. present company excluded (sorry Alvin) …..

Alvin ran toward them …. the little girl asked if she could pet Alvin and I said yes, (of course).  So it turns out the puppy was 8 weeks old …. about 4 pounds (fully grown 12 pounds) …. from Cuba.

The man’s name was “J” and the little girl “A” ….. the really strange thing ….. J is my brother’s name and A is my daughter’s name.  How cool is that.

Anyway we visited for a few minutes and then were on our way.

I always have fun when we walk ….. thank you Alvin for that ….

Okay, now time to get this show on the road.

Special Hello to: all those folks who lovingly and with kindness and respect take in a four-legged animal to be their forever friend.

You rock.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 1st of November, 2015.

We had a great Halloween.

85 children came to our door.

There were gypsies, Luigi and Mario, princesses, puppies, ghosts, cats and so many more.

Really great costumes.

Alvin was so good.

I had him on his red leash which is shorter, and he was so excited to see some of our neighbours and, of course some new people.

Near the end of the evening …. he was laying on the sofa and when the door bell rang and I said “stay” …. he actually stayed.

Totally surprised me.

Just looked at the kids from the sofa.

I believe he truly was pooped.

He was happy to see so many of our friends.

The costumes did not freak him out at all.

Well in a few minutes after I finish here …. it will be outside to take down the Halloween decorations and place them into the garage.

Then take down in the house and start bringing up the Christmas stuff from the basement.

I am so excited. ….. in fact when Alvin got up (which he thought 3 was 4 …. which is odd because he has been waking up a hour early for the past week) I wanted to stay up and start the process.

My daughter is coming over to help with the Christmas Tree ……. we will have hot chocolate and a special treat …. watch a Christmas movie …… so much fun.

The sky is overcast (it rained last night from about 7:30 onward) …..

Some of the kids managed to get out before it started ….

I guess it did not pour just drizzling.

Okay I am so excited …. please excuse me I have to go and get the Halloween stuff down so that I can bring up the Christmas stuff.

OMG ….. so excited.

I will be able to sit on my sofa this evening with the tree lights on ……

My favourite thing.

Have an awesome day.

Special Hello to: all my friends out there who like to put up their Christmas trees on November 1st ……

Always, Carol and Alvin
