Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 29th day of March, 2017.

It is SO foggy here in Edmonton this morning.

I can hardly see across the street.

Drive carefully anyone reading this in the area.

Last night after work my daughter picked me up and we went to COSTCO before heading home to Alvin.

We had a wonderful conversation and visit along the way.

I love our time together.

She is the absolute best daughter in the world.

Something that happened to Baby Milo has us all thinking about “SCENTS.”

Most of us want our homes and bodies to smell good, right?

We buy plug-ins with all sorts of scents, burn candles and even make our own using natural products including essential oils.

Have you ever even for one minute considered what these are doing to our babies, our four-legged ones?

For that matter to us.

We often times are driven by our sense of smell.

The idea that everything has to have a scent that is appealing to us.

Can you imagine how strong some of these scents are to our pups who have a sense of smell that is more highly-evolved than our own?

Something to consider.

Has your dog or cat sneezed?

You thought “how cute” or that perhaps they have a cold.

Maybe not.

If they become lethargic or “seem to be zoned out” or throwing up …… you should take them to the VET.

My daughter mentioned “that Alvin smells like my house.”

I never thought about that.

We become so used to the scents that they do not seem to be strong at all.

I was struck by her comment.

We were just in conversation about the adverse effects of all of these scent bearing products and others on our babies.

Well it is time to leave for work.

Please keep this all in mind if you have a dog or cat or any creature in your household.

Have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to: my kids and grand-pups ….. love you so much.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 20th day of November, 2016.

Today marks the first of two Christmas Events that I am a participant.

This Sunday I will be with Steeped Tea at my friend’s house along with a rep from Stella & Dot and one from Scentsy.

This is my first home party multi vendor event.

I am excited to see the other products and excited to show Steeped Tea to everyone attending.

Yesterday it snowed off and on all day but a fine dry snow.

We now have a light blanket covering the ground, rooftops and lawns.

Mr. Alvin is downstairs chewing on one of his treats.

He loves to chew and thankfully it has always been his food and treats.

The sky looks a white grey colour as I look out of my office window.

Just seems like no break from the ground to the sky all one colour.

I guess winter is officially here.

It feels like it now.

We have been so blessed with a warm November.

Well time to go and put the finishing touches on preparation for the Christmas Event.

I hope that you all had an amazing weekend.

My thoughts, and every ounce of positive energy are directed to my grand-puppy Elton.

I hope that he has many many more good days and less bad ones.

Special Hello to:  Elton, who has been one of the loves in my life for the past 12 years.  Thinking of you buddy.  Alvin and I love you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 13th day of September, 2015.

It is a great morning here in Edmonton.

The skies were overcast but are now clearing as the morning progresses.

Today is an exciting day for me as this afternoon I will hold my very first tea party as an consultant for Steeped Tea.

My training party was in August and I have my leader, “C” with me so she did all of the work so today it is all me.

I have read over the training information.

I have read all about all the different kinds of teas.

The guest catalogues/order forms and pens are ready to go.

I have placed samples out and some of the other products that we sell.

My tea pots are ready to be used.

The teas have been chosen by the Hostess.

I have placed on the table some tea plates, tea cups and saucers and glasses.

In case you have not guessed I will “host” the party as far as the venue and dishes go and the hostess will bring over a treat for the guests.  Nice and breezy easy for the hostess.

The house is pretty much clean.

Just the last minute sweep/vacuum the floor …. quick dust ….

I am excited and perhaps a little bit nervous.

There is so much information and I just want to do a great job.

Well I am going to enjoy my cup of coffee and get ready.

I am just going to wear a skirt and top so I will be comfortable getting ready now.

The only component I am a bit concerned about is Mr. Alvin ….

He knows a couple of the people so he will definitely be excited.

I did have a chat with him because I know that he will be wanting to visit and see everyone.

Hopefully he will bring it down a notch …. just friendly not FRIENDLY.

Oh, my boy.

Well I had better go.

I have a couple of things to do of course even though there are almost four hours until start time.

Wish me luck.

I know it will be a great tea parTEA.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

I will let you know how it goes.

Special Hello to: my Daughter who helps her Momma so much ….. thank you for the help with my Steeped Tea website.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 14th day of May, 2015.

Well the sun is coming up ….. still a bit on the cool side in the mornings.

I still am wearing a jacket for my walk to the bus stop.

Maybe in a week or so ….. a sweater will do.

This morning I went to retrieve a voicemail message on my home telephone.

The old fashion touch tone portable phone …. I do not have a cell phone yet.

There is static on the other end.

Guess time for new phones.

They sure do not make things like they used to ….. everything is disposable.

Why oh why.

I do know the answer, but really I would love for manufacturers to have love for their products and make with integrity and quality.

It is so disappointing when items do not last.

I remember a deep freezer that my grandparents had on the farm.

It was there when I was a child, and it was moved from the farm to town.

I figured why it was about 30 or so years old.

Stoves and fridges used to last for 25 years or so.

One would tire of them long before they broke down and then most times they could be repaired.

Can you imagine house hold appliances and gadgets lasting that long?

Or at least make things to be repaired and not throw away.

Okay, I have had my little “rant” for the day.

Just disappointed …. I am not mad or sad …. just disappointed.

Well almost time to get back downstairs, grab my lunch and jacket (will need shoes, too) and snuggle with Mr. Alvin for a few minutes before heading off to work.

YAY, tomorrow is my day off and I am so excited.

Have a great great day everyone.

Special Hello to: all those people who take the time to read my blog, I so appreciate it.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 2nd day of April, 2015.

Well that snow did eventually stick as it snowed all day long.

We now have snow covering the deck once again.

It is that heavy wet snow …. the kind that is hard to shovel.

Great for snowmen or snow people.

Once the sun stays out it will melt.

We always seem to have a snow storm at the end of March ….. beginning of April.

This is quite normal.

I am grateful for the moisture as the ground was dry.

Should help clean things as well.

Well tomorrow our office is closed for Good Friday and also on Easter Monday.

Tomorrow and Saturday will be my last two shifts at the store.

As much as I will miss all of my friends there – I am so looking forward to having a life once again.

By that I mean …. coming home every night ….. walking with Alvin on a regular basis …. every night.

Having the weekends at home to do whatever I wish.

Last night after work my daughter and I stopped at West Edmonton Mall.

She wanted to use the last of her gift card at a store named DeSerres ( art supplies and more ).

I ended up picking up some coloured “fineliner” pens and a mini sketch pad.

I plan on getting back into making my own cards and also doing some sketching.

We did also at the start stop at the TARGET store just to take a walk through.

There is barely anything left but we did find some make-up.

We were both appalled by the damage customers had done to what remained of the products.

Like the makeup …. packages opened ….. powders all over ….. dirty kleenex’s thrown in with the products in the bins …… just very dirty and messy.

I feel so much for the employees …. they did not deserve such disrespect.

For the most part any of the staff that I saw seemed to be putting on a brave face.

I hope that they all found employment.

We also had a nice dinner together at FRESHI’s ( my favourite place to eat ).

Followed by a trip to the SKETCHERS store (where we each bought a pair of shoes).

Quick trip to CHAPTERS but they did not have what my daughter wanted.

After a stressful day at the office it was just what the doctor ordered.

Well time to leave for work.

I hope that you have a great day.

Wherever you go and whatever you do …. please show respect for the folks around you.

Also if you happen upon our four-legged friends please be kind to them as well.

We share this planet.

Special Hello to: all those folks who read my blog …. thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin
