Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 16th day of May, 2018.

Today will be somewhat cooler than the past couple of days.

AT this moment the sky is overcast and there is rain in the forecast.

We certainly could use a good soaking …

Decided to check on the day from last year and this is what was happening weather wise:

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 16th day of May, 2017.

The SUN is SHINING and the sky is a pretty much that gorgeous powder blue with a hint of pink.

There appears to be a bit of a breeze.

With hope of a beautiful day.

We needed the rain but now we could use the sunshine and some warmth.

I have held on and have not turned the heat on in the house.

This morning it was 60 degrees F ……

Not sure how Alvin feels about the coolness but if he did not have a toasty warm fur coat on – I would not have put him through this….

I will say one thing both of us are sleeping better.

Alvin has been sleeping past his usual 3:00-3:30 a.m.

So perhaps it is hypothermia …. not really …..

But definitely the cool temperature is good for sleeping.

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 16th day of May, 2016.

Another gorgeous morning, sun shining and blue sky.

There has been smoke in the air due to all of the forest fires in the province.

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 16th day of May, 2015.

It is overcast and very windy.

We did however receive some rain overnight which is great.

Perhaps it will rain over the course of the day and that would be wonderful as it is so needed.

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 16th day of May, 2014.

Well as I look write this blog it is raining here at my house.

So I was thinking that I need to think of something cheery to bright my moment.

**********************************

Sometimes it is nice to look back and see what the weather was like one year ago, two years ago or maybe five years ago.

It is so wonderful have this daily post to check in on my life last year or six years ago.

Some reminders that I have grown and some reminders that I need to step things up.

We learn in all sorts of ways.

Looking back by brain memory or a diary or an on-line blog are ways to do so.

I know what I was doing and feeling yesterday and five months ago and six years ago.

Well here we are once again, time to leave for work.

I hope that you have a great Wednesday.

Maybe think back on what you were doing this time last year.

Are you where you would like to be?

Are you happy?

Are you making progress or spinning your wheels.

Food for thought.

Special Hello to: You, today …. it is all about you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 20th day of July, 2017.

Almost the weekend …. not like I am wishing time away or anything.

Talk about crazy weather.

One day it is 30 and so hot in the house and the next day it is COLD in the house and cool outside.

Truthfully I am pleased that it is not 30+ as I think it is too hot.

The air is filled with smoke from the fires in our neighbouring province British Columbia.

If our air quality is so bad here, I can only imagine what it is like there.

I wish for rain and no lightning.

I wish that no human starts a fire.

Well the countdown is on until my company arrives which is a few days before my birthday.

My beloved sister is coming to stay with us and arrives in the evening of the 4th of August.

We are excited.

Starting this weekend we will start to prepare.

First off, I have been making the lists so that nothing is forgotten and so that everything is perfection.

Excited that my baby brother will be joining us a few days later.

Excited does not cover how I am feeling right now.

It is hard to remain focused and on task at work.

But I will get things done and be ready for my two weeks vacation when it arrives.

So happy to have two whole weeks off in a row.

First time in almost six years.

Party time …..

Happy Thursday Everyone.

Special Hello to:  all those folks who are taking vacation or are on vacation – enjoy.

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S.  one of my friends and co-workers gave me some fresh herbs out of her garden.  One smells of oranges and the other is spearmint.  Heavenly.

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Thursday, July 13, 2017 and it is the 28th day until my 60th Birthday.

Okay back to memories ….. this may take some doing.

I think I was at 1967?

1967: Having my birthday party at the lake with cousins, roasting hot dogs over a fire and a homemade birthday cake.

1968: My family packed up the station wagon and drove to McAllen, Texas where we rented a house and spent the winter.

1969: Baling hay in the summer with my sister and pulling weeds in our HUGE garden.

1970: A bright pink jersey peasant style dress, and my first dance at school.  I can still hear the music in my head and see everyone lining the walls swaying to the tunes.

1971:  Moved from the farm in Saskatchewan to British Columbia.  Some of the saddest days of my life.  Moving away from my best friend. High School…. Picked berries with my Mom & Sister for the summer.

1972:  Moved to Alberta, another new High School in another province.

1973:  My Grandpa died in a farming accident and I moved back to Saskatchewan to live with my Grandmother (age 16).

1974:  Moved from the farm into neighbouring small town (Saskatchewan).  Changing schools yet again.

1975:  First summer after High School Graduation and then started first real paying job with SEARS in Regina.

1976:  Major life change ….. got engaged.

1977:  Another life change …. got married. Another life change – I became an Aunt for the first time…… my first born nephew…..he is the best.

Always, Carol

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 10th day of October, 2015.

YAY, it is Saturday ….. WHOO HOO ……

Sun was shining and now is clouding up a bit but the temperature is warm.

It is this weekend that we celebrate the Canadian Thanksgiving.

On this weekend, I am grateful to live in my neighbourhood surrounded by wonderful people; grateful for a wonderful City, Province and Country.

Grateful for my family and friends.

Grateful to live in peace.

Grateful that I have Alvin to see before I close my eyes and when I open them in the morning.

Grateful for good food and words.

Grateful for the medicines and the technologies that have got us to this place.

It is a great weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians.

May we continue to grow and prosper.

May we continue to be kind and generous, respectful and compassionate.

This is the weekend to reflect and remember how we got to this place.

To be grateful …..

Time to get this show on the road.

Lots to do ….. VOTE (advance polls), Scentsy party, Alvin’s bath, computer stuff, perhaps rake the leaves again (did yesterday, too) …… the list is much longer.

Special Hello to: family and friends, Happy Thanksgiving.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 24th day of January, 2015.

It is a glorious morning here in my bedroom in the city of Edmonton in the province of Alberta in the country of Canada.

The sky is a beautiful clear blue and the sun is SHINING.

I have something very cool to tell you.

Last night I worked at the store.

I had the best time as usual.

So much fun.

Even saw a couple of our regular customers (after awhile you get to know some people).

The nicest couple on the planet.

It was a great night.

So when I left the store about 9:20 to go and catch the bus …

what do you think happened as I left the mall?

You might think that January in Alberta it might be snowing.

You might think that January in Alberta it might be blowing and snowing.

You might think that January in Alberta the temperature might have taken a quick nose dive and be very COLD.

But you never and I mean pretty much never would go outside to …..

POURING RAIN ……YES, IT WAS POURING RAIN ….

Like the rain we get in the summer time.

It was warm and raining …..

So on my walk home from the bus stop to my house was a bit tricky.

I walked very slowly and carefully.

The streets were a mess.

SNOW …. ICE AND POOLS OF WATER.

Some from the warm temperature and it has been melting and from the rain.

There were spots that looked dried but was “black ice” and a few times I almost took a fall but manager to arrive safe and sound.

What a great place to live.

Supposed to be warm today so more will melt.

I think we need the streets scraped.

Well time to get this Saturday rolling ….

Big plans: LAUNDRY, Alvin needs a hair cut and bath (he is looking like the SHAGGY D.A. from the Disney movie) and miscellaneous other things.

So I hope that you have a great Saturday.

Always remember to take some time to relax and have that cup of coffee or tea or lemonade.

Be kind.

Pass out compliments and be polite.

We need to be better “neighbours” to each other on this planet.

Also big one: be kind and respectful to all of the other inhabitants on this planet.

Our dogs, our cats, our wildlife …… how would you like to be kicked or thrown about all for being you.

Special Hello to: everyone who is respectful and kind …. let us show everyone how it is done.  Shine your light.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 7th day of October, 2013.

How are you this morning?

I am feeling great.

Ready to tackle the work week and start on yet another adventure.

The past five years have been crazy.

I went from working at a company for thirty years to retirement to working both a part-time and a full-time job.

I went from shopping in a store to working in a store.

I went from having a sister nearby to having my daughter nearby.

I went from old friends to new friends.

I went from volunteering in one city to volunteering in another city.

I moved from one Capital city in one western province to living in another Capital city in another western Canadian province.

I went from wearing jewellery to making jewellery.

I went from reading about writing and writing in a journal to writing a daily blog.

I went from no pets to having my dog Alvin.

I went from an apartment to owing my own house.

I went from having no yard to having a yard.

I still do not have “a man in my life” unless you count Mr. Alvin.

I still do not own a car.

It is funny how some things never change ….. oh well !!  (only two things) ….

So it is possible after the age of “50” to start over and still live a great and interesting life.

I do not think that anyone thinks I live a boring uninteresting life.

I love my life.

How are you with change?

I must say that I really do embrace change.

Never a dull moment.

So on this Monday morning I hope that you are enjoying any changes that come your way.

You can do anything.

It is all in the mind ……

Have a great Monday.

Special Hello to: new and old friends ….  I love you all.

Always, Carol and Alvin
