Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 5th day of July, 2017.

Well today’s post did not make it out bright and early as my usual weekday ones as I had no INTERNET this morning.

It was a good thing that I accidentally PUBLISHED my COUNTDOWN post as it would have waited until now, as well.

It was another gorgeous day.

Getting hotter as the week goes on.

Learned something from two friends yesterday as my air conditioning needs servicing and I have to wait to get it done.

Suggestions to turn on the furnace fan (not a/c), just the fan.

Between the blinds closed all day, and then turning on the fan and now with the breeze our home is COOL.

Thank you friends.

Did anyone notice that I accidentally PUBLISHED my COUNTDOWN post last night and not this morning?

I was getting a head start so that I do not have to try and be semi intelligent and composed in the wee hours of the morning ….

What did I do but ACCIDENTALLY clicked on the published button instead of SAVE DRAFT.

You caught me….

Well I hope that you had an awesome day.

So excited that I have a tomato plant flowering and some pea plants actually coming up.

Who knew that I had a green thumb?

Not me.

Time for bed.

Thanks for sharing your time with me, I appreciate it.

Special Hello to: my sister …. getting closer.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 5th day of April, 2017.

First week of April and the weather is beautiful.

Last night Alvin and I had a wonderful walk.

Today is the 7th Anniversary of my FIRST BLOG ever …..

I named my blog after the major change in my life which happened at 51.

It was not until a couple of years later that I chose  “My New Life at 51” as my blog name.

I had wanted to entertain and inspire anyone who took the time to read my words.

Writing is the one constant that has been in my life since I was a small child.

Whether writing poems for my Grandmother at Valentine’s Day or one for my Mom on her Birthday; I tried my hand.

A poem for my daughter’s class play.

I loved writing in school and did well.

My next project will be writing a book ….. it has been a dream of mine for a long time.

One that I can have published.

I just have to decide on a storyline and go.

I just keep changing my mind ….. is that not the beauty of writing ……. you can always change your mind.

Change the lines ….. change the story ….

Well here it is time to leave once again for work.

I hope that you have enjoyed this journey with me and will continue.

With gratitude and hopes that I can bring a smile to your face and perhaps be inspirational along the way.

Have an awesome day.

Special Hello to: all those folks who write and to those who read what we have written …. thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

It is not ready to be published at this time and it has to be just right.

I am sorry that I did not share this with all of you sooner.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers I know they all helped.

We hope that you are your family are doing well at this time.

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 11th day of January, 2015.

It is a glorious morning.

The sun is shining brightly ….

The sky is blue with strips of white …..

I am grateful for the sunshine and clear skies.

The temperatures are warming up and that is always welcome.

Well just enjoying a cup of coffee before heading out the door to go to work at the store.

I wonder if West Edmonton Mall will be busy today?

You never know.

I am grateful to have this time at home with me Alvin and the computer.

So nice to write a little something each day ….. most days.

I have been pondering some story ideas as of late ….

Yes, making notes ….

My wish is to someday be a “successful published writer.”

But first you have to actually write a book.

That is the part that I have been working on for most of my life.

I start and have great ideas …

Either life seems to get in the way or I do.

But as I get closer and closer to the “60” mark, I am feeling that I had better get into gear and get it written.

Who knows …. perhaps there are several books in me; that would be nice.

I do love to write …..

I have lots and lots of ideas written down.

I have written poems and possible song lyrics over the years.

Just the “book” has eluded me.

So that is my goal for 2015 ….. to get writing more.

Get the ideas down …

Outline the story ….

GET WRITING …..

Would be nice to be published by age 60.

I hope that you are doing what you love ….

Doing what you are passionate about …..

Please do not let life or yourself get in the way …. just do it.

We have to do those things that we love … right!

Well time to put the finishing touches on getting ready and finish my delicious cup of coffee before heading out to work.

Special Hello to: my friend “I” in Sweden ….. hope life is treating you grand.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Evening ….. we are in the last couple of hours of Friday, March 15th, 2013.

Today marked the 10th Birthday of my great niece “Selena” ….. she is a lovely young lady.

I called her from my home in Edmonton, Alberta  to hers in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Since the time change this last Sunday we are once again “the same hour” ….

She is an amazing young lady and I am so proud of her …..

We chatted about her birthday, her bowling party and sleepover with three friends tomorrow.

I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a “Vet” and a “Writer” ….

I was not surprised by the Vet but was totally blown away by the Writer.

It would seem that she has turned into quite the writer during the last year or so.

She writes poetry and stories.

She told me that she has already written two books.

One has over 150 pages and the other over 100.

I think that is quite the accomplishment for a then nine year old.

She also mentioned about a poem that she had written and proceeded to read it to me.

Very accomplished.

I asked her where she got her inspiration and she said just one day in class.

It was amazing.

So I have to take a “page” from this now ten year old and get my writing act together.

It won’t be long and she will be published.

I also asked her when she got the time to write and she said “Oh, sometimes when I am tired of watching t.v. or reading” …. I just write.

So if this newly turned ten year old can write two books (she started the 150 page book last summer and just recently finished) …. so can I.

At first, I will admit that I felt less than confident in my writing abilities.

After speaking with her Mom (my niece) and taking a bit of time to clear the tears from my “OMG, what am I doing” eyes” ……. I reread some of my earlier poems.

I stopped to think about what I was doing at ten years old and then I felt better.

You see I will be 56 this August and 50 years ago this August I cooked my first meal….. it was stew and for a combining crew.

Also at ten years old I was watching over my four younger siblings ….. taking turns with my sister (18 months younger) staying home from school to help with chores and the boys.

I do remember when I was between 8 – 11, planning and executing several Christmas plays ….

By ten years old I was already babysitting for the neighbours and earning money to buy our school photos and books from Scholastic (from school).

I was doing laundry for our family of seven when I was ten ….. washing the floors (by hand) and polishing the floors …… making meals …. helping my siblings with homework ….

So now that I have finished my pity party and am realizing that each life is different.

I have always loved to write and I did write when I was younger but most of my writing and stories were in my imagination ….. I told the stories to myself as I did not have the time or means to write them.

So as I have now written over 700 blogs (which is huge accomplishment for me), I work two jobs, make jewellery with my daughter, keep a house, clean my neighbourhood, and other things …. I try not to be too hard on myself.

I am grateful that I have lived my live because it has made me who I am.

I am blessed to be surrounded by inspiration of all ages.

I am happy to be here.

I am so grateful to all of the people who take their precious time to read my blog.

Well I guess it is time for bed.

I have a cold so should get some rest so that I can get back my energy.

Thank you.

Always, Carol ….. (Alvin is sleeping ……)

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DARLING….. I HOPE THAT SOMEDAY WE ARE BOTH TRAVELLING TO BOOK SIGNINGS ……

Princess Selena ......

Princess Selena …… long before she was ten …..

Thought for the day…….

How about GRATITUDE?

I have been thinking all day long how grateful I am for a multitude of things in my life.

Number 1 – GRATEFUL to be breathing and alive and to be ME.

Number 2 – GRATEFUL for my family and  friends.

Number 3 – GRATEFUL that I am living my dreams.  (writing this blog & being published and making jewelry, being creative)

Number 4 – GRATEFUL for this awesome fall day ….. it is so beautiful here in Edmonton this Saturday.

Number 5 – GRATEFUL for my dog Alvin, and all those special moments that we share.

Number 6 – GRATEFUL that after 51 years I have my own home (I am 53 now).

Number 7 – GRATEFUL that I can afford to be at home with Alvin, do things for family and friends and live the life that I chose.

Number 8 – GRATEFUL that I meet new people on a daily basis.

Number 9 – GRATEFUL that I am in great health.

Number 10 – GRATEFUL that I get to laugh each and every day.

I am grateful for every second of my life, being present in the moment and living for today.

Grateful for having all those yesterdays to draw upon for knowledge, laughter and memories.

Creating new dreams for all those tomorrows.  But not getting caught up in the “thinking” of them.

So, the Thought for the day ….. is simply GRATITUDE.  Be grateful.

It is important to feel and be and own your gratitude.

No one can do it for you but you.

Have a great day.

P.S.  Every day take a few minutes and just be grateful.  Pick up a notebook and it doesn’t have to be fancy. Then every morning before you go out into the world or if you are at home before you start doing your thing – write down all of the things you are grateful for or at least five.  Trust me, you feel better and it starts the tone for your day.  Suddenly that drive to work is more relaxing, the little one tugging on your pants (child or dog) doesn’t make you crazy, waiting in the line-up for your first cup of coffee doesn’t phase you out in the least and you just plain feel better.  Being grateful and loving just make the world a better place.  Also, remember to thank the girl that just made your first cup of coffee, and  to thank the young man that held the door open for you.

Always, Carol

My WISH

Today I am going through my things preparing for a garage sale.

I decided to take a bit of a break so that I could write on this BLOG.

I saw another beautiful comment from my daughter Amanda.

I wonder,  is she the only one that reads my “stuff”.

My wish is to hear from anyone that takes the time to read what I have written.

My wish has always been to be a PUBLISHED WRITER.

To see my name on the bottom of a book:  Written by Carol Y Lewis.

That does have a ring to it.  If I sound selfish, that is not the case.  🙂

Just wishing BIG.  Anything is possible.

Have a great day.

Thank you.
