Living … One day at a time.

Good Morning and here we are at Tuesday morning.

Back to work.

Alvin and I had a good snuggle this morning.

Yesterday Humphrey joined us for the day.

I mailed my out of town Christmas Cards to British Columbia, points in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec and SWEDEN.

Mailed cards to virtually half of the Canadian Provinces.

On my way home from mailing the Christmas cards and actually quite close to home; out of nowhere I slipped and went down on one knee on the sidewalk.

I had been coming off the road onto the sidewalk.

I was so careful but I guess not quite careful enough.

Luckily everything being me and my phone were okay.

When I got home I checked and even though my coat and my pants covered my knees there was a big patch of skin gone.

It was sore but not super painful.

I was not home very long when the phone rang and it was Teddy’s Mom.

She was wondering what we were up to as they were thinking of going for a walk.

I told her about my spill and that strangely enough I was feeling kind of nauseas.

She said that they could walk over and if we wanted to join them on the walk home that would be great.

Always nice to see them and this time the baby was going to walk on her on.

She followed right beside her brother and walked all the way to our house.

Pretty impressive for a 14 week old pup.

She is so cute.

We had tea and a visit.

Before they left Teddy’s Mom who is a “Energy Healer” gave me a treatment.

She said that I had been blocked by old old energy and that the new experiences/new energy were not getting in because of the old stuff.

She told me that it felt like old paper.

As she worked on my knee, I could feel something leaving and just felt so energized.

My friend told me she could see it in my eyes and hear it in my voice that I was feeling better.

So out with the old and in with the new.

Feeling like a new person today.

We are all energy beings.

Everyone should try this …. so cool.

Just to note that after the treatment I could actually kneel and put weight directly on that knee.

Well it is almost time to head downstairs.

One thing that I must work on is my posture.

Also sitting.

The computer chair that I have is pretty hard for me to sit back fully in and comfortably type on the computer keyboard.

But I am going to work on sitting tall and properly.

Will help with the sometimes achy back that I have.

I am catching a ride with Humphrey’s Mom as my car pool is off today so that she can drive her husband to a medical appointment.

May you have an awesome Tuesday.

Surrounding yourself with love, kindness and respect.

Happy Tuesday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 26th day of September, 2017.

Today is the Birthday of my Son-In-Law “S” ….. Happy Birthday Buddy.

He keeps us all on our toes, constantly challenging us to be better.

He has a good heart and is very intelligent.

A great combination.

Happy Birthday Buddy ….. Alvin and I wish you a great day.

Well back to work today.

I thoroughly enjoyed the day off yesterday.

Ended up cleaning and putting away most of the deck furniture and flowers pots.

Only a couple of things remain.

On our walk in the later afternoon we saw, actually Alvin saw our friend “P” working in your yard.

He can spot her a mile away.

What a guy.

We had a visit and she gave me  some plants.

So upon our return home ….. I again rearranged my back flower bed.

I think that I now have a plan.

Or at least for now.

Our weather is incredibly nice.

Bright sunshine …. blue skies ….. warm temperatures.

Of course not near the temps as in eastern Canada.

In parts of Ontario and Quebec the temperatures have exceeded 30 degrees celsius which is way too hot for this time of year.

Breaking all sorts of records.

I like our temperatures …. low 20’s.

Perfection.

Well time to put the finishing touches on before leaving for work.

I hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to: the Birthday Boy …… Love Mom & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Afternoon and it is Sunday the 27th day of August, 2017.

Alvin and I had the best visit with our friends from Quebec.

It seems like they just arrived and then were gone.

The children are 13, 11 and 10.

I always forget that my friend “L” is only 13 as she is so grown up.

“M-L” is now 11 and not the shy little girl she was when they moved away and “D” well he is still soft spoken and very much a 10 year old boy full of wonder.

We had supper together, walked with Alvin and watered our friend’s flower garden, the girls picked out beads to make a bracelet and necklace upon their return home, and to end the evening we

watched “Galaxy of the Guardians Volume 2.”

It was a jammed packed evening but one I will remember always.

These children are like my own.

I am so grateful they came into my life.

They all took turns snuggling with Alvin on the sofa.

The morning came all too quickly.

I am quite certain that their Dad is going to miss them when they return back home to Quebec tomorrow and that their Mom is going to be very happy to see them.

I can honestly say that this has been one of the best Augusts that I have ever had in my entire life.

Lots of company and getting to spend time with some of the best people on this planet.

Well back to norm ….. it has been a hot day.

Thinking of family that live in Houston, Texas.

To all the residents of Houston and surrounding area you are in our prayers.

Well time to get a few things done …. back to work tomorrow.

Special Hello to: my family and friends.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 22nd day of August, 2017.

Well today my vacation ends and back to work begins.

Argh.

Part of me just wants to stay curled up with Mr. Alvin on the sofa.

He was getting used to our new routine as he no longer has been waking up at 4:00 – 4:30 a.m.

This morning it was the alarm that woke him up …. I woke up before the alarm but due in part to not sleeping much.

You know it is like a Sunday night when you cannot shut down your brain.

My mind was running wild.

Oh well, we had a great two weeks vacation.

Not back to reality.

We have some out of province coming to spend Saturday night with us.

Our friends from Quebec will be coming for a bit longer visit.

I am happy about that.

Well almost time to get this show on the road.

Our bus route has changed for a few weeks and I am wondering how that is going to work.

City is doing some road repairs / construction.

Perhaps should have checked before now but I know that my stop was not affected.

Hopefully we get to work on time.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Special Hello to: friends from a distant.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 21st day of August, 2017.

Well today is the last day of vacation for this girl.

Man, I have loved every last minute of it.

Alvin and I are just getting ready to take a little walk to his Vet and pick up some food for the guy.

Cannot run out of food for sure.

The ECLIPSE will happen in just a bit over one hour so need to get busy here.

Do not wish to be outside when it happens.

I wish that I had the glasses to wear to observe it but alas I do not.

So will watch it on television.

So on this Monday ….. I am so grateful that during my vacation I was able to spend time with my sister, both of my brothers, my eldest nephew and his family, so many of my friends, old neighbours that came back to

visit me and Alvin, and my “niece” and her family from Saskatchewan and MY daughter, son-in-law and grand-pups.

Without my daughter and her family all of this would not have been possible.  So grateful for their love and support.

It was great to be able to take in High Tea in the Hotel Selkirk at Fort Edmonton Park with my daughter and sister.

We had so much fun riding on the carousel and the girls on the high swing.

The weather was great.

I was terribly spoiled by attention and gifts for the past two weeks.

So much so,I am overwhelmed with blessings and gratitude.

Time to get this show on the road before the “light” goes out.

Have an awesome day and DO NOT look at the ECLIPSE without special eyewear.

Special Hello to: my family and friends.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 15th day of August, 2017.

The sky is blue and there is a cool breeze.

Kind of warm in the house but comfortable with fan blowing.

We had our company from Quebec and Calgary visit with us yesterday.

It was great to see the children as the last time was 2011.

Cannot believe how they have grown …. I guess six years will do that ….

Nice to see their Dad as well.

Well we are just on our way to the Vet as Alvin has his teeth cleaned this morning.

I hope that he does well.

I feel so bad not giving him any water or food.

Funny thing he has not fussed about it which is surprising.

I am not having water or food either.

Would not be fair if I did.

Well better get going ….. have to see if he will go poop ….. before.

Have a great Tuesday.

Special Hello to: Any LEOS out there celebrating a birthday today.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 14th day of August, 2017.

We had a thunder/lightning/rain storm last night.

The air was filled with the smell of smoke last night.

The grass is wet and sparkles like diamonds in the sunlight this morning.

The air is cool with no breeze.

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY GREAT NEPHEW “A” WHO TURNS 12 TODAY.

IT WAS GREAT TO HAVE SEEN HIM AGAIN …..

So great to have my boy back home.

I surely did miss him.

We are having semi unexpected company today.

Have to get things organized and get out for a walk while it is still cool although the forecast is for low 20’s today.

Our company is a family that moved back home to Quebec several years ago but they were here when I moved to Edmonton in 2009.

We spent a lot of time together as I was semi-retired when I moved to Edmonton.

The Children spent a lot of time with me as I had air conditioning and it was hot the first few summers that I was here.

We did crafts and watched movies.

They were here when I adopted Alvin.

So excited to see them again.

Well I must get going as I am not certain when they will arrive and I have lots to do.

Mr. Alvin goes tomorrow to have his teeth cleaned so he cannot eat after 10:00 p.m. tonight and cannot drink after midnight.

Tomorrow morning will be interesting as he loves his food.

I will not eat or drink as that would not be fair.

The house is quiet at the moment with no sister or brother ….. but more company coming.

I am so grateful for the great vacation and to have two weeks off from work.

Time to fly.

Have a wonderful Monday.

Special Hello to:  all my friends and family.  Thank you to “J” for the most thoughtful Birthday card.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Monday morning …. today is May 14th, 2012.

Wow, my 32nd Mother’s Day come and gone…..

I had such a great day.

The weather cooperated ….. beautiful blue sky ….. SUNSHINE.

I did some housework, laundry, bathed Alvin …… spoke on the phone to my friends Anick & Lea (in Quebec) and my sister Cindy in Regina.

Said my good-byes to one of my neighbours …. they are moving back to New Brunswick.

Also put up a screen on the back door (velcro style) and made supper for my kids.  We had an extra puppy visiting …. hi Casey… such fun.

I also received gifts from my kids ….. thank you for being so thoughtful ….. I love my presents…. most especially the treasure box which was covered in photos from my childhood.

After my company left I watched the season finale of “Once Upon a Time” and the series finale of “Desperate Housewives” …. both were great.

I am so blessed.  What a full day and life I have …..

So I hope that wherever you are and were yesterday, today and tomorrow ….. have a grand and blessed life.

I even wrote a Mother’s Day poem yesterday (but alas I left it downstairs).

So thank you for reading my blog.   I hope that I can bring a smile to your face, evoke food for thought and give something to your day.

Have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to:  my readers …. I treasure you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Welcome to Tuesday, May 1st, 2012 ….. WOW May.

What a gorgeous morning it is …. the sun is coming up and the glow on the houses is so beautiful.

I absolutely love this time of day especially once my mind and body have gotten over the shock of getting up at 5:00 a.m.

I have a little alarm ….. four legged ….. black & White …… he always wakes up before the alarm.

But I love my little furry alarm clock …. at least I can usually persuade him into cuddling for a few more minutes before the buzzer goes off.

I wish that this day would be filled with wonderment, love and laughter for us all.

So on this first day of May ….. are you thinking about beginning your spring house cleaning or perhaps you are already finished?

Me, while I am part way there …. still have lots to do.

One person …… one house with a garage and yard, two jobs, a dog, jewelry business and other interests …. I should be done by summer!  LOL.

I hope that you all have an amazing first day of May.

Whether you have started, are mid point or already finished … may you find joy in your spring cleaning.

The part I love the most is going through the rubbermaid containers ….. washing the summer clothes, and realizing that I have all that I need (if I can get the zippers up ) …. LOL.

Special Hello: to my family and friends back in Regina ….. I love you and miss you …… also special Hello to my family in Quebec …. miss you guys so much.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……..

Wow, what a beautiful August morning.  The sky is such a pretty blue and the sun is coming up on the horizon.

My life is great.  I had the best birthday yesterday.  Thank you to all my family & friends who are my family, too.

You know you are blessed and lucky when:

…. your seven year old friend calls from Quebec to wish you a Happy Birthday before you leave for work in the morning (that’s early)

…..your friends and family send you best wishes via phone, e-mail, the mail and Facebook

…..your daughter and son-in-law prepare you a yummy supper followed by a super delicious chocolate birthday cake

…..your neighbours decorate your front porch with balloons, streamers and a birthday banner and birthday wishes  written in coloured chalk down the front sidewalk and gifts inside the house

I am so incredibly blessed.

…..the best gift of all was that my dog Alvin was at the door when I arrived home to greet me ….. with kisses and lots of love.

I always think that it is so cute.  Those first 20 seconds after I unlock the front door,  he rushes to greet me, wagging his little tail, he is so excited he knows he has to pee, he wants to give me love and attention

but he is also hungry, he stops between the back door at the pantry for just a second.  He’s back and forth for those seconds …… I guess I would be confused as well (or perhaps I am a bit) LOL.

Thought for this day is:  be grateful for the blessings in your life each and everyday.  There is always something to be thankful for ….. clean water to drink, food in the fridge, family, your dog or cat, friends, the air that you breathe, the fact that you can breathe everyday is always super good.

Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Always, Carol
