Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

Good Thursday morning and welcome to September 3, 2020.

Well we were up at 3:30 because that is how we roll.

Alvin had his glucosamine chew and outside for a pee and then we hit the sofa.

I had planned to get up at 6:00 but not because I had to be up at that particular time.

6:00 rolled around and I set the timer on the microwave for 6:40.

6:40 came and then again stopped and reset until 7:00.

Why do we do this?

Surprisingly enough I am almost ready and it is just 7:30.

I start work at 8:00 so there is lots of time to write this post, grab my coffee and take the boy out for a poop.

Not sure why some days but perhaps it was the extra early start.

I am very lucky that I can go back to sleep right away.

Yesterday I was checking my email and found one from Good Food.

I have ordered from them a few times and then you have to remember to check the calendar and SKIP deliveries or else they automatically are sent out.

I was surprised to see a delivery was scheduled for today.

I had skipped ahead but that was from June …. my how time flies.

So today I have a food order coming.

I guess I know what my meals will be for the next week.

I did go into my account and skipped the meals until December 3, 2020.

The calendar on my fridge has been marked so I know in advance next time.

Now you can always check to see what the meals are at any time and order if you like.

You can always change to order by a certain date.

I was kind of mad at myself for then you have no choice in the meals.

Luckily only one is perhaps not something that I would have ordered.

It will likely be okay and now I won’t need groceries, so that is good.

Well it is getting on and time to head back downstairs.

Definitely needing that coffee this morning.

The sun is shining and there is a bit of a breeze.

No gale force winds at this time.

Quickly have to tell you.

Yesterday at lunch time we were out for a walk.

There were some pretty fierce looking rain clouds out there but I thought let’s go.

The sun was shining and the clouds appeared to be to the south and not close enough for a rain shower.

We were about half way when out of the blue there was a large boom of thunder.

I said to Alvin, “Okay, that is a sign to head home.”

We did.

Luckily the rain only started near to home.

We did not get very wet.

There is always a sign ….. you just have to pay attention…. and listen.

Living with kindness and respect.

Grateful for each day.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Mr. Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

Well we are in the midst of a heat wave.

Yesterday was 29 degrees celsius not including the HUMIDEX and today will be 37 with the HUMIDEX.

YIKES.

We were going for a walk at 5:00 a.m. but ended up going at 5:15 a.m. – waited until it was a slight bit more light outside.

The walk was great.

No time for changing so I threw on a longer coat over my nightgown and out we went.

We only saw one guy with his young HUGE German Shepherd dog.

The doggie was so full of energy …. he just wanted to play.

The boys said hello, Alvin was not impressed with the energy level.

He sniffed and sniffed as we made our way around our usual route.

Even walked through a small rain shower.

We saw Teddy’s Dad leaving for work.

Home by 5:45 a.m. …. so am rushing a bit, I will say.

But how glorious …. an early morning walk.

The air was still cool.

Opened the windows before when we first got up at 3:00 a.m. ….. it was Alvin this time.

Oh well, that is what happens when you have two “seniors” on the premises.

Time is clicking away ….

I am so congested from the humidity that I could not smell the gorgeous ROSES that line the walk by the park.

Alvin gave them a sniff.

Sorry … just having a sneezing fit.

Well looks like time to get this show on the road.

I hope that you enjoy this Tuesday.

Nice to have the sunshine and warmer temps and I hope that you are comfortable.

Always be kind and respectful.

I have to remind myself as sometimes we can go in another direction.

Happy Tuesday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

Bright sunny morning with just a few clouds dotting the sky.

Yesterday was a glorious day weather wise.

In the morning it was bright and sunny beginning to warm.

Afternoon came around with rain clouds and rain.

One minute it was bright and sunny and the next there was a gentle downpour.

This went on and off all afternoon.

Alvin and I managed to score a wonderful walk in between showers.

Although I would not mind getting caught in a gentle rain shower.

Alvin, would be okay except would have to make certain that his ears were dry on the inside.

He is prone to ear problems so have to be careful.

On our walk we came across several families of geese.

I could tell as there were at least three different sized goslings.

So cute.

We walked by them and checked out their cuteness from the sidewalk.

I was prepared to move onto the grass on the other side.

But they did not seem to mind us as all.

One of the Papas and I will call the goose that as I really have no idea if it was Momma or Papa …. he stared me down as we walked by.

The air was so fresh and clean after the rain.

Felt so good …..

Great walk.

After arriving home I decided that it was a good time to stake up one of my plants in the front flower bed.

Alvin helped me find a stake in the garage.

He stayed in the house to supervise as I fixed the plant out front.

When I was out there …. our friends from down the street … spotted us and popped by for a visit.

J showed me Jazmin’s hair cut ….. she looked so good.

Jazmin is an elder dog with a heart condition, she is doing so good at the moment and I hope for a long while longer.

My friend helped hold the plant while I tied some garden twine to the stake.

Tonight or tomorrow night I have to transplant one of the lilies as the ferns are taking over the front garden.

Will move the lily to a different spot in the garden.

Well almost time to go and catch the bus to work.

Carpool is back in business for tomorrow and the rest of the week.

Will be nice to get home in good time once again.

I hope that you all have a wonderful Monday.

I hope that the sun is shining and if you need a rain shower, I hope that one comes your way.

I hope that love and kindness surround you on this day and always.

Happy Monday to you ALL.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 26th day of August, 2018.

Happy Birthday to a friend of ours who turns “12”today.

She is almost a teenager ….. hard to believe …. when we met as neighbours you were a little girl….not even in school.

The sky is partially cloud ….. a bit of smoke lingering in the air …. possibly some rain clouds.

Cooler than the average for this time of year but that is okay.

We had a little rain shower last night.

Today will be a quiet day just looking after the boys.

Putting away the laundry that has been drying in the laundry room.

Snuggling with pups and visiting with Humphrey the Cat.

I had a start last night.

I went to visit Humphrey and Cinder after 9:00 p.m. last night ….. Cinder was awake and when I turned on the light …. she was staring right at me.

Her eyes are so cool.

Round black with a sliver of lightness going through them.

Geckos are so unique.

I do not see her much when I look after them.

Again this morning she was laying on a stem of the plant that is her in home …. Not sure if she was sleeping or not.

Usually during the day she is in her sleeping pod.

So twice I have seen her in less than 12 hours.

Very unusual.

Well I have Master Teddy in my lap and it is not quite so easy to key with someone who wants you to hold him.

We have had a good few days together.

The boys have played, we have walked and just hung out.

Mr. Alvin has been eating grass the past couple of days.

Last night he threw up once and I thought he was going to do so again.

He has no problem eating or drinking.

Perhaps he has been eating too much.

I am watching that carefully today.

Teddy seems to like Alvin’s food AND Alvin will eat his and Teddy’s if given the chance.

Well time to go and have coffee.

Teddy is moving about and I do not wish to drop him.

His Aunt is picking him up tonight.

His Mom and Dad will remain away on vacation for an additional few days.

He will be excited to his Auntie “J.”

Life is good.

I heard somewhere the following and it makes sense to me:

“The age that is one’s highest self esteem is “60.”

I definitely can see that.

It has taken me to age 60 to be better in my own skin, to know what I like, and to be confident in myself.

Life is better as we age.

Have an awesome day.

Special Hello to: my all my girls ….. each year you get better and better.

Always, Carol, Alvin and Master Teddy.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 9th day of July, 2018.

We had a shower overnight.

Did not hear a thing – must have been sound asleep.

Alvin did not stir until almost the time that the alarm went off (or would have, rather).

The sky remains overcast.

Deciding what to wear …. changed my mind completely from what I had laid out.

Again this morning Mr. Alvin urged me to massage his neck area and when I stopped he “asked politely for me to continue.”

He also did not wish to eat right away this morning.

Ate banana first (which is a first).

He does not seem to be ill but I will have him checked out on our regular visit (which is soon).

I suppose just could be an age thing.

OH, I hope so.

Please send lots of positive energy our way for me Alvin (cannot hurt).

I can hear the traffic buzzing on the highway.

Oh, he just asked “please again.”

Have to run.

Alvin needs me and it is almost time to leave for work.

Have an awesome Monday.

Good energy for us all.

Special Hello to: my sisters ……

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 24th day of May, 2018.

Another beautiful day on the way and perhaps just a little bit cooler.

Even rain showers in the forecast which would be wonderful.

We enjoyed a walk last night with our friends.

Always nice when Alvin can walk with Presley and Vader, his doggie pals.

It would seem like this spring (not officially summer yet) that so many folks are suffering from allergies.

I count myself among them.

My tree out front has little white flowers.

I do not remember our tree to have flowers like that ….. is it possible after over 10 years that a tree starts to flower.

I suspect that other years they were smaller and not so notable.

Anyway my eyes have been burning, congested, ears plug and sometimes feel like I cannot breathe.

Crazy what “green” can do.

It looks really pretty though.

I took some photos so I will post them over the next few days.

Perhaps someone with a “real” green thumb could tell me what kind of tree, I have.

Well here it is almost time to leave for work.

What a wonderfully short work week this has been.

I could get used to short work weeks but same pay, of course (and benefits).

Oh well.

So on this Thursday …. I wish that you are in good health.

Doing what you love and love what you are doing.

Happy Thursday.

Mr. Alvin is on his blanket …. he is so cute.

Love that little guy.

Although both his Momma and Mr. Alvin have put on weight, argh.

Lots of walks.

We have to remember to cut back on portions as we are not teenagers any longer.

Probably a good thing for most of us to remember.

Portion control.

Special Hello to: my friend “V” who is one of the hardest working, most kind souls that I have encounter in my travels on this Earth.

Always, Carol & Alvlin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 3rd day of July, 2016.

Earlier there was thunder and lightning followed by a rain shower.

The skies cleared and the sun shone and now a little while later it is cloudy once again.

Our weather can change so quickly over a few hours time.

It remains quite warm despite the changes.

Yesterday I was happy to get the “family room” in the basement cleaned out.

Filled some boxes with things to remove from the house, items that I no longer need, want or use.

That is what I am on the trail to do is to remove every item from my house that I no longer need, want or use.

If I do not use things on a regular basis other than Christmas decorations and of course winter coats, boots and the like – then they are going.

I am selling, giving to charity or recycling depending on the item.

I no longer feel the need to fill each nook and cranny with “stuff” with “things.”

As I get older I want less and less stuff surrounding me.

I crave to have bare spare and to only have what I love surrounding me.

So today I am going to work on my office space.

Go through papers and stuff.

My office is pretty good but there are a few things that need to go.

Maybe today is the day that you reflect on what is truly important.

Maybe you do love, wear and need 100 pairs of shoes.

Maybe you do love, watch and need 200 movies.

Maybe you would like to share those shoes with others who would love, wear and need them just as much as you.

Maybe you would like to share those movies with others who would love, wear and need them just as much as you.

See my point.

It is a personal thing for sure.

But not only am I thinking of me but also our dear planet.

The more we buy.

The less our planet has.

Think of it that way.

We consume well beyond our needs.

Do you need that next pair of sandals that takes your total to over 100 pair of shoes?

Likely you never wear most of them.

Needing and wanting are two different things.

Perhaps if we take baby steps.

For every item you bring into your home you remove one.

Less is more.

It is more freeing.

Try it.

Well time to go.

I hope that you will ponder how much you consume.

How much you buy.

Thank you.

Special Hello to: my family and friends all over the world.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 21st day of May, 2014.

I am so happy to be feeling better on this beautiful sunny morning.

I was under the weather yesterday so no blog and no work.

So great to be back.

We had a nice rain shower last night and it is surprising how much greener things are this morning.

The leaves on my tree are out … they are at that small shiny light green stage.

They look almost glossy in the sunlight.

How are you this Wednesday?

I hope that you are doing great and having a blast.

Time to get caught up….

It is amazing how one day can make you feel behind.

Oh well …..

That’s okay, right!

We can only do – what we can only do.

One thing at a time.

So on this gorgeous sunny day I hope that you are doing what you can and want to do.

Take those relaxing deep breaths throughout your day.

Smile because it is catchy.

Pay someone a sincere compliment.

Do something nice for someone that you are not related to.

Have a great day.

Special Hello to: my sister who I have to SKYPE this weekend …. miss you sis.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 24th day of April, 2014.

YAY, it is Thursday.

How are you this fine morning?

I can see breaks in the somewhat cloudy sky.

It rained here solid for more than 24 hours.

I would say that the ground has been moisturized.

Just like applying a good heavy cream to your face and going to bed.

Mr. Alvin and I decided not to walk in the rain last night and instead just curled up on the sofa and watched of the shows that I record.

Okay, I did do some housework ….. it is hard not to …. just lay around …..

Anyway, it was a glorious evening ….. I am very grateful for it.

What do you do in the evenings?

After supper and clean-up is done.

Perhaps you have children and there is homework and preparation for the next day.

Perhaps you have a spouse and you just spend some time together catching up on the day’s events.

Perhaps you are alone like me with a dog ….. most nights it is a walk together followed by a cup of tea (not for Mr. Alvin, giggling).

Perhaps you are surrounded by family and you might take a few minutes to relax …. ” me time.”

Whatever you may be doing or whomever you might be with ….. just enjoy.

Having a nice evening is preparation for a good night’s sleep and a great tomorrow.

So remember have a great evening ……

I hope that you always remember to make each day the best it can be.

Keep your focus on the great things in your life.

You always get what you give out.

Good thoughts ….. more good thoughts.

You know what I mean.

Have a great day my friends.

Special Hello to: everyone who wants their life to be better ….. it can be …. one thought at a time.

Always, Carol and Alvin
