Second Half of the NEW YEAR

Good Morning Everyone!

What a gorgeous morning here in Edmonton.

The sky is clear after an evening of rain.

The grass is even more green (did not think was possible).

The flowers and trees and plants had a nice drink of water direct from Mother Nature.

Alvin is sitting facing the doorway as he sometimes does.

Not sure if that is his getting ready to run pose or what exactly he is thinking.

What a guy.

Yesterday my daughter took a shopping trip to The COSTCO, yup an adventure, always.

She picked up a few items that I figured I needed ( actually I did ).

But somehow I always manage to miss asking for something and this time it was dishwashing tablets.

Lucky for me that I only run the dishwasher once or twice a week so I am good for two or three more weeks.

Will pick them up next time.

The most exciting item that I got other than pea pods and oranges was a new PILLOW for sleeping.

I was thrilled when it came time for bed to try it out.

So the pillow obviously from Costco.

It is called “novaform” by Innocor Comfort.

First time that I have had a memory foam pillow.

I will say that I had the best sleep in likely years or perhaps ever.

The memory foam supported my head and neck perfectly.

I am so happy that I had this last minute idea and asked my daughter to grab me a pillow.

She picked out just the most perfect one for me.

I guess next time will get one for Alvin for those times where actually lays on the pillow.

Guess what there is even a FIVE YEAR Warranty on the pillow.

I have never heard of that before and that makes me happy.

When you have a good sleep – somehow you feel as though you can achieve anything.

Also very thankful today is Friday after my first week back to work.

I can hear the kitten Bogart meowing outside next door likely playing with his big brother Humphrey.

Well time to get this show on the road.

A mug of freshly brewed coffee.

Just had a refreshing shower, even dressed up and put on makeup.

I am expecting GREAT things today.

Perhaps an unexpected visitor?

Who knows but today is going to be spectacular, fantastic and the beginning of something more than I could have ever dreamed.

That is going to be today, Friday, August 21, 2020.

Have an awesome day.

Filled with kindness and respect for all.

Light up the world with your good energy.

Be safe.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Mr. Alvin

P.S. I wrote the dedication to my first book last night and have a title and the cover.  On my way.

Living … One day at a time.

Good Morning, partial overcast sky this morning.

I can see the sun on the horizon.

We had some rain last night.

A bit on the slippery side out there this morning or at least it was on the deck and the grass.

Well Alvin and I had a great Saturday.

His sister/my daughter arrived after dropping her car off to be winterized at their dealership.

We consumed “massive” amounts of pancakes (not really but it sounded good).

My friend had given me a can of maple syrup from Quebec so it was opened to use.

MMM, so good.

Happy Anniversary gift and card for my kids.I d

After breakfast, we decided it was a good opportunity to go and photograph me and Alvin for our Christmas photos.

We always take them in the fall.

Earlier in the morning I decided might be a good idea to shower and wash my hair and put on some makeup.

Paid off.

So after a few minutes of figuring out what would be good to wear and careful not to be similar to last years colours; we were off.

Jeans and a purple sweater and tank top.

Alvin wore his usual “black and white tux.”

Always so formal that guy.

We spent less time than usual snapping a few photos and for the first time using her iPhone camera.

I was happy with my hair until there was a breeze and then it was out the window.

We/I sat on rocks by the water (not that close), on the little bridge and standing.

At the end of slightly more than 30 minutes; we had some shots that were worthy of our “10th Year Photo.”

Cannot believe ten years already.

The shortest photo shoot and with a phone camera.

Who would have ever thought …. not having to lug a big camera around.

Nice for my daughter.

After returning home after the photo shoot, my son-in-law called an UBER for us (cause he has the APP).

I quickly changed into something less dressy.

Gave Mr. Alvin a treat.

Shortly thereafter we were on our way.

My daughter had heard about this Thrift Outlet store which is on the premise as the Recycle place.

All the items whether household or clothing or books whatever are purchased by weight.

We found a few things but it was so busy …. I am no longer happy in crowds.

After leaving there we went to the Thrift Store not far away.

It is new and looks like a Winner’s type store.

In fact, set up much the same.

Everything looks like new or close.

Needless to say we, mainly me found several items that I ended up purchasing.

Some items to hang on the wall, some small Christmas tins to put gifts in as wrapping and PJ’s.

I washed the clothing items right away …. love the pj’s.

Also found a white handmade blanket which will be washed this morning.

It is so pretty, no stains and perfect.

Returned home, sorted the purchases and my daughter was on her way.

I decided we would go for another walk as it was so beautiful out.

We had a great walk.

After returning home made supper and cleaned up.

I did another couple loads of laundry.

Today is finishing the laundry, hair cut and bath for the boy and baking of chocolate chip cookies for the 5th Avenue Jewelry party next Saturday evening.

It is finally light out so one can see everything clearly.

Have to decide if I will rake the leaves for the 4th time …. my tree is bare.

I hope that you all have an awesome day.

Thus far our weekend has been amazing.

Happy Sunday to you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello, Welcome to Sunday the 13th day of October, 2019.

We had rain overnight but now the sky is beginning to clear.

Last year at Thanksgiving it was raining and I believe it turned to snow.

Argh, I surely don’t like to say that word before Halloween.

It would be so wonderful if it would remain “brown” until November.

Change of plans, Alvin’s friend Teddy is arriving this morning instead of for a sleepover.

He should arrive in 30 minutes or so.

Yesterday we had Humphrey over for a bit.

We enjoyed a beautiful walk but were sad to leave Humphrey here at home.

I decided to take my phone so that I could snap some photos and am happy that I did.

My family are planning to come for supper.

We are always happy to have them over.

Keeping this short this morning.

But I wanted to share some photos of our walk late yesterday afternoon.

It was so lovely.

I also raked the front lawn as it was covered with a thick blanket of leaves.

Also cleaned out the middle area that has stones as it was covered in leaves as well.

So many leaves.  I filled two big black garbage bags.

Alvin and Humphrey watched from the living room as I cleaned away.

Here are some of the shots from our walk yesterday.

In the park not too far from our house.

Alvin sniffing away.

The fountain still running.

Leaves covering most of the trees but so many different colours.

So beautiful.

One cute story to share from near the beginning of our walk yesterday.

We had just arrived at the park when a car slowed down and pulled over.

I realized it was some neighbours.

Mom and three small boys.

The boys were screaming with delight at the sight of Alvin.

The older boy was out of his seatbelt and trying to get his head out of the window.

Mom and I were trying to speak to each other but all I heard her say was “I can’t hear anything but ALVIN.”

The boys were all screaming his name.

It was at that exact second that I came to realize something.

“Alvin is a ROCK STAR.”

Everyone loves him.

Everyone knows his name.

The kids get so excited to see him and even some adults.

So I have a ROCK STAR living in the house.

Doesn’t get better than that ….

Unless he had the finances of a Rock Star …. but I am happy that he is so loved and adored.

Makes me proud.

Now I also realize something …. he does have that mindset of a celebrity.

Okay almost time for Teddy to arrive.

Time to get that coffee perking.

I need a cup.

Happy Sunday and if you are celebrating Thanksgiving on this day …..

Well Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Enjoy your day.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 25th day of October, 2016.

Dark outside.

Rained overnight.

I could feel the moisture in the air last night as it cooled off during our walk.

Hopefully the roads are not icy.

Still reasonably mild.

Well almost Halloween.

Do you like Halloween?

Do you dress up?

Do you stay home and greet the “Treaters?”

I love Halloween.

I decorate my house inside and out.

I normally dress up.

We are encouraged to dress up at work.

We also have a Halloween potluck which brings out some truly creative dishes and treats.

Some years are more elaborate than others.

Most times I just pull together something from my “tickle trunk.”

Actually I had a tickle trunk so to speak years ago and when I moved to Alberta, I gave away most of my Halloween costume items and decorations.

So over the passed few years I have slowly amassing some Halloween items.

My favourite costumes have been made from take pieces from my closet and adding some makeup.

Surprising what you can do with little or no money.

Trust me if there is a way – I will find it.

There is no reason to spend a fortune on a costume that you will likely wear for only a few hours.

I have snapped photos of my decorations and will post them closer to Halloween.

Nothing fancy just a few things in my house and outside.

Some of my neighbours clearly enjoy decorating as they have strung  white spider webs all throughout their trees.

I think it might be interesting taking it down.

Well here we go again time to leave for work.

I want to get away on time just in case it is a bit icy.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Special Hello to: my sister.  Miss you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Thursday morning …. today is July 26th, 2012.

Crazy hey ….. here we go again ….. almost the end of yet another month.

This morning we woke up to a wet deck so it must have rained overnight.

I did not hear it so that is good.

The sun is coming up and the sky is clear now.

YAY.

Promises to be a great day.

It is funny how dependent we are on the weather …..

By this I mean for me …. if it is cloudy and rainy I feel more tired and less energetic.

I do love the rain …. watching the sky and stuff.

However, after several days without much sunshine ….. I was beginning to feel less than 100%.

Perhaps it also was from the middle of the  night thunder/lightning/torrential rainstorms.

Oh well, the sun is coming up and I feel GREAT.

It is going to be a WONDERFUL DAY ….. I just can FEEL it.

TOday could be the day that I check my lotto ticket and find out that I am a multi-millionaire along with my friend “G” ….. we buy weekly tickets together.

Always nice to share something, right.

Well, I had better get running as it is almost time to go to work.

I hope that you all have a marvellous day filled with love and laughter and all things WONDERFUL.

Special Hello to:  all those ANGELS who visit us daily, thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Wow, here were are on the last day of April 2012 …… the 30th and it is a beautiful Monday morning.

It rained overnight as the deck was wet and earlier there were clouds in the sky but now THE SUN IS COMING UP AND IT IS GLORIOUS.

Yes, the sun is shining ….. I love the mornings when you are getting up and ready to the sun shining.

Soon we shall not require the lights to be on and that is a real treat.

I love saving on electricity ….

Happy Monday everyone.

I hope that wherever you are ….. THE SUN IS SHINING.

The sky here in Edmonton is the most palest of blues with a hint of pink off the horizon and if I could see the sun coming up from my office window (it faces south), it would be oranges, yellows and pinks…

I truly love this time of day when the sun is coming up full of promises for a wonderful day.

I hope that you have a glorious day.

Special Hello to: the WORLD….to every man, woman and child and creatures: four-legged and other…. Happy Monday.

Always, Carol and Alvin
