Thought for the day …

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 14th day of February, 2019.

A cold morning once again.

But guess what?

Last night it was minus 20 with the windchill so Alvin and I put on our winter gear and headed out for a walk.

It was our first actual walk in about two weeks.

It felt so good and a bit cold.

We only went as far as the park as it was getting cold for Alvin’s paws.

But it was most enjoyable.

I feel lighter this morning.

Happy Valentine’s Day to those who celebrate what we now refer to as Hearts Day.

A day to show love and affection with respect.

We are celebrating in our group at work.

Each of us decorated a paper bag much like some of us when we were children.

So much fun.

All week people have been dropping cards and goodies off into our bags.

Today the rest will deposit their treats and cards into our bags.

It was a good idea …. something fun amongst all of the work and “stuff.”

A rose for you

Happy Valentine’s Day to You and You and You.

May you be surrounded with love, respect and affection.

May I give you a little hug.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Take this day to show your “respect” to your class-mates, co-workers, family and friends.

We all need to be a little nicer, more compassionate and definitely show respect to each other.

Not only to our human counterparts but to all the creatures that roam this earth whether on land, sea or air.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Time to don the winter garb and then on my way to work.

But have time for snuggles with my boy.

Thank you Mr. Alvin for being my wonderful, sweet, awesome companion.

Special Hello to: all my family and friends, Happy Valentine’s Day.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 27th day of February, 2018.

Almost the end of February.

Another beautiful day on the way.

My daughter gave me a ride home last night.

Home extra early which was nice.

Alvin had did his business, had supper and I got changed.

I have found a non-salted route for us to walk.

We had the best walk in a long time.

I think that Mr. Alvin was beginning to think we were not going to walk again.

Poor little guy.

When Teddy and his Aunt came for a visit and supper on Sunday, “J” brought us some beautiful Daffodils.

I wanted to share them with you.

Feeling like spring.

There is nothing like the yellowness of the Daffodils to get you wanting to do a HAPPY DANCE.

Adding this: the stems are the most perfect spring green.

I am dancing in my chair.

Swaying my body and feeling good.

I shall visualize these flowers all the way to work.

Enjoy.

I hope that you all have the most wonderful Tuesday.

One thing that I have learned to make certain that I do is to “keep an open mind.”

It is far to easy to get stuck in a mindset and not give people and situations a chance.

How about we try on this Tuesday to “keep an open mind.”

We will add this to our “kindness” and “respectful” philosophy.

We will grow each day.

No matter our age or status.

Happy Tuesday.

Special Hello to: all those people who continue to learn and to grow.

Always, Carol & Alvin

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Sunday June 18, 2017 and it is the 53 day until my 60th Birthday.

Wow the days are passing away quickly as it has been one week since I decided to do the countdown.

Mmm, let me see: things that I have learned along the way.

Learn new things everyday ….. will keep you healthy in body, mind and soul.

Be forgiving ….. less stressful.

Respectful.

Incorporate variety into your life in every aspect.

Be kind to yourself ….. perhaps the biggest lesson to learn and the most important.

Surround yourself with people …… we all need each other’s energy to exist.

Do more of what makes you feel fantastic.

Listen to music.

Dance to your own beat …. do not be afraid to do things your way …… it is okay to be different.

Be grateful for everything you have in your life.

Be kind to others.

Meditate …. even if it is only a few minutes each day.

Listen more …. speak less.  ( I find this one difficult but I have worked on it my whole life).

Be yourself as there is no one else like you on the planet.

Always, Carol

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 30th day of July, 2016.

Well after a sweltering day it is overcast and wet.

We had quite the storm last night ….. lots of thunder and lightning.

I took my tablet out onto the deck to get some photos of the storm but not sure what happened they did not turn out.

But I did secure some beautiful video of one of my solar lanterns that is a tear drop style and made of glass that sparkles and shines.

So it was not completely a failure or maybe that is too strong of a word and so it goes.

We are really lucky at our office and get out early on Fridays so I was home one hour earlier than normal.

After Mr. Alvin went outside and had supper I set out to give him a hair cut and bath.

Three hours later we were finished and he looks wonderful.

His front paws could use a smidge more trimmed but all in all he looks great.

Needless to say I had supper at almost 8 p.m. but that was okay.

My friend “S” and I are having another garage sale today so that we can sell all of the stuff that did not sell last weekend.

It is cooler out so perhaps that will bring people out today.

“S” and her daughter came over to bring a few things like balloons and the signs that she placed in other parts of our neighbourhood.

After they left we settled down and watched one of my favourite food shows with Guy F …. the triple “D” one …… for the life of me the title has left my memory.

Likely because I am thinking about the sale and stuff.

Anyway we went up to bed just after 10:00 and there was so much lightning and thunder that Alvin did not settle down right away and then to add to it we could hear another dog, clearly outside and

clearly scared and distressed.

We listened for awhile as I tried to ascertain where the barking was coming from and it was not until I came into my office and opened the window that I found it was coming from that side of the house.

The poor puppy had been barking for quite some time.

So I grabbed my coat with a hood as it was raining by this time, key and shoes (still in my nightgown) and went onto the deck and opened the garage door.

I quickly figured out where the dog was and went to investigate.

Within a block of my house is this poor doggie …. outside in a built wire cage.

I managed to see just a bit of the dog through a space in the fence and he was pacing back and forth.

I ran back to the garage and to my house and called 9-1-1.

First thing I said was this is not a life and death situation and explained what was happened.

The operator was a sweetheart making me a bit relaxed and advising that she would transfer me to the non-emergency police line.

I explained the situation to the male operator on the other end.

My options were limited but he could hear the dog when I held the phone to my window.

We talked for quite some time and then suddenly there was human movement.

Someone was in the garage and the garage door opened and someone came out.

The dog stopped barking.

We listened for a few more minutes and no barking.

The lights went off and I could see someone going into the house via the back door.

The dog did not bark anymore.

I asked for the phone number of the non-emergency line – just in case.

Then hung up and we went back to bed.

Alvin, bless his heart did not bark much as I guess he could sense that I was anxious.

It breaks my heart to see people not taking proper care of animals in their care.

I may not be perfect but he will never be left out in the cold or in a severe lightning storm in a metal cage.

People truly are stupid …. how could you do that.

Well I need to wrap this up as it is time to get going and get the signs up for the garage sale.

Part 2, wish us luck.

I hope that you have an awesome Saturday.

Remember that dogs are living creatures and please respect them.

Special Hello to: all those people who love and respect animals in their care and all life whether two-legged, four-legged, winged or scaled.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 8th day of March, 2016.

After Alvin’s supper and stuff last night we opted to clean the deck and the front walk instead of traipsing through the wet snow that is covering most of the neighbouring sidewalks.

Man, what a workout.

Shovelling that heavy wet snow as it felt like lifting a shovel full of water only it was coloured.

Good for the arms and core, I would imagine.

Alvin had fun sniffing about as I shovelled.

He also ran to our neighbour’s beside us (not other half) and went right up her steps …. she saw us and came out.

We usually take turns shovelling ….. we just had beat her outside.

Alvin really loves her and like to snuggle any chance he gets …. so cute.

While he visited we chatted and I shovelled.

Multi-tasking at its best.

I am gearing up for a busy weekend.

One of my neighbour’s is having a Steeped Tea party at my house on Saturday (so convenient for me) following that a small intimate birthday party for my daughter.

So lots of baking and cooking to do…… YAY.

Sunday morning coffee with my girl pals.

Okay, what happened to the morning ….. it is time to leave for work.

The temperature is to be plus 2 today and then 7-9 plus degrees over the next few days and into the weekend.

So excited.

Spring is here.

I hope that you have an amazing day.

We should always remind ourselves to be KIND and RESPECTFUL to every living creature not just the two-legged ones.

Until tomorrow.

Special Hello to: my friends all over the world.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 9th day of December, 2015.

Another glorious mild morning here in the City of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

I had a wonderful “tea” visit with my friends and neighbours down the street.

We shared stories and laughed.

Isn’t that what life is all about …. sharing stories and laughing.

I love spending time with them.

Mr. Alvin stayed at home and was not very happy about that as I could heard my poor baby howling as I walked away from the house.

I felt bad but sometimes he just has to stay at home.

This season remember to be extra kind to folks.

Think before you speak.

Sometimes we get so caught up in something that we open the gate, and before you know it something inappropriate has ran out.

Just be kind.

Words are more mighty than the sword.

We just need to be more respectful to each other.

Well I have to run along here.

We had rain yesterday afternoon …. yes December 8th in Edmonton ….. RAIN.

So it was icy on the walk home from work.

This morning as it froze overnight I will have to walk on the streets and not on the sidewalks so I have to leave early to be safe.

I hope that you have an awesome day.

It is just as easy to be nice as it is to be naughty.

Food for thought.

Special Hello to: my friends and family all over the world …. Happy Wednesday.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 10th day of October, 2015.

YAY, it is Saturday ….. WHOO HOO ……

Sun was shining and now is clouding up a bit but the temperature is warm.

It is this weekend that we celebrate the Canadian Thanksgiving.

On this weekend, I am grateful to live in my neighbourhood surrounded by wonderful people; grateful for a wonderful City, Province and Country.

Grateful for my family and friends.

Grateful to live in peace.

Grateful that I have Alvin to see before I close my eyes and when I open them in the morning.

Grateful for good food and words.

Grateful for the medicines and the technologies that have got us to this place.

It is a great weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians.

May we continue to grow and prosper.

May we continue to be kind and generous, respectful and compassionate.

This is the weekend to reflect and remember how we got to this place.

To be grateful …..

Time to get this show on the road.

Lots to do ….. VOTE (advance polls), Scentsy party, Alvin’s bath, computer stuff, perhaps rake the leaves again (did yesterday, too) …… the list is much longer.

Special Hello to: family and friends, Happy Thanksgiving.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 8th day of December, 2014.

“17” days until Christmas Eve…..

How was your weekend?

Mine was great.

Busy as per usual.

I can check off “Christmas Baking” as completed.

Taste test done by my daughter and son-in-law and all is good in that department.

Last night I wrote up some cards for the office and will take them in this morning.

Still have a few more to do.

I also have a few more to mail.

Our weather has been great …. feels like spring.

Supposed to be plus temperatures all this week.

How crazy is that for December in Alberta?

It is crazy, believe me.

I am so excited to have some time off at Christmas from the office.

Still working some of those days at the store but to have only one job will be a good break for me.

Time to recharge my batteries so to speak.

I am almost ready for Christmas.

We measured the puppies so that I can go and pick up their new harnesses which is their Christmas present from me.

I am so excited.

They are so much nicer than the ones they have now.

New technology.

Well almost time to go to work.

I hope that you had an awesome day and that you took some time for yourself, and that when you were in the company of others you were kind and respectful.

It is not an easy thing to do all the time.

I am a work in progress.

It is not that we are not necessarily kind and respectful, more like impatient and sometimes perhaps a bit rude.

I know at this time of year with people rushing around including you and me; it is something that we need to take into account.

I know that sometimes my patience runs a bit low.

Sounds like the “bus” is almost ready to leave so better go grab my lunch and coat.

Have a great day.

Remember as long as we try to be good and decent human beings – we likely are.

I hope that you are enjoying this holiday season.

Special Hello to: family and friends, near and far.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 25th day of September, 2013.

Well we had another gorgeous day yesterday.

This morning early on, ( about 5:00 a.m.) the sky popped with the brightest view of the moon and stars, I was so in awe “I said, “WOW.”

It was truly magnificent.

Making me feel so grateful to live on this planet with this incredible view.

Thank you.

ALSO:

I made an even more conscious effort to be extra kind to everyone that I came in contact with throughout the day.

That was yesterday.

It worked I felt so good.

Like I had just conquered the world or went to the moon or better yet “won the lottery” (actually I think going to the moon would be pretty spectacular).

So let us try this again tomorrow and the day after that and so on.

Can you imagine what a great place this world would be …. if we were all kind and respectful …. warm and generous.

Well that is going to be my mantra …..

“KIND and RESPECTFUL … WARM AND GENEROUS” to everyone that I meet.

Special Hello to: all those people who follow the SECRET ……. it is a great thing to be in your company.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Thursday morning and today is by the calendar the 23rd of August, 2012.

The sky is lightening up and the sun is rising …..

The air has a nice coolness to it making it comfortable to start the day.

Alvin loves to sit out on the deck and take in the morning air.

We are having a great morning and it is going to be a great day.

Work is going well.

On this day I am going to make certain that everything that I say is both pleasant and respectful to both me and the other person.

I always try to be most respectful to others but sometimes I need to work on the things that I say about myself.

I think that is true of most people.

We also have to work on taking a compliment.

I must admit I find that a tad “difficult” for some reason.

But each day I work on myself to be a better person ….. more kind ….. more gentle …. more respectful.

So on this day what are you working on?

I hope that you are successful….

Remember be in the moment, and be the best you that only you can be….

I hope that you have an awesome day.

Special Hello to:  my friends that live far away in Sweden and Brazil.  Have a great day.

Always, Carol and Alvin
