Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 2nd day of May, 2019.

Well this is what we woke up to at 3:30 a.m. today ……

Photos were taken a few minutes ago just after 6:00 a.m.

The temperature is to be +10 degree celsius so it will once again melt by the time that I reach home.

Or at least I am hopefully.

The moisture is good.

Sometimes you just feel in your very being that all is being purged.

All the bad stuff.

All the unnecessary junk.

A lightness is in your heart that feels as though life is given a second chance.

Sometimes it does feel as though you have control over life.

Anyway I know I am being cryptic but not my place to give details.

Just so happy that all is well ….

So on this Thursday I am feeling so extra blessed.

Alvin and I enjoyed a beautiful walk last night.

After the bad roads and multiple accidents near and around the City of Edmonton; I did not think that we would be walking.

But the temperature warmed up throughout the day and was pretty much all melted by the time that I got home from work.

We saw a muskrat in the pond by our home.

Swimming away.

We saw a goose wandering about.

A duck enjoying a swim.

One singles were out and about, I guess.

We also bumped into a young couple out walking their pup whom we have met before and pup is almost 17 years old.

Still lots of energy and grit.

We met a young pup named Miso (after the soup).

Miso was so full of energy …. at first Mr. Alvin played and sniffed to get to know the young one.

After a few minutes he was “done” or so I thought and then they were playing again.

I enjoyed this encounter.

Always nice to meet new people and pups.

Well almost time to head out of the door.

My ride came early yesterday with the roads so am thinking the same today.

I hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Happy Thursday.

Remember “gratitude” is the answer.

Yes, it is.

Special Hello to:  all our family ….. near and far ……. we love you all.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 29th day pf April, 2019.

Wow, second last day of April 2019.

This morning the sunrise is crazy beautiful as it rises there are some puffy dark blue clouds that appear to be suspended from the clear blue sky above.

Looks like someone just added them with a paint brush.

Oh so pretty.

I was thinking this morning as I was getting ready for the day about how much we all take for granted our lives.

We take for granted our health, our family and friends.

Our jobs and our homes.

Usually it is not until we lose something or someone, that we realize this.

How precious every aspect of our lives is …..

When you can swing your legs off the bed and touch the floor and stand up.

Be grateful.

When you can turn on the tap and have clean healthy water to drink and use.

Be grateful.

When you can walk for exercise and enjoyment.

Be grateful.

Every time you make a mortgage payment on your home.

Be grateful.

Every time you pay your taxes be grateful as that money goes for health care, roads and more.

Every moment of every day is a blessing.

A blessing that we can breathe clean air.

A blessing that we are surrounded by family and friends.

A blessing that we have homes and a bed to sleep in at night.

A blessing that we have jobs to make that mortgage payment and to buy food.

A blessing that we are alive.

So on those days when you are feeling woe is me; remember.

Life is a blessing.

Be grateful.

Yes, I know perhaps there will be days that are less than perfection.

But at least we have those days.

Please do not spend your precious moments walling in self pity or complaining about someone or something.

Spend your time being grateful.

Life will always be better if you spend it in a state of gratitude.

Have an awesome Monday.

The sky is blue.

The clouds are delightful.

I am alive.

I have my buddy Alvin at my side.

Thank you.

I am most gratefully for all that I have and that I saw my kids yesterday afternoon.

Thank you.

Special Hello to: you and you and you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 28th day of November, 2018.

We missed the first freezing rain that went through our area but woke up to ice.

Appears that overnight we had freezing rain.

Time to be extra careful whether walking or driving.

I can see the glare ice on my sidewalk.

BE CAREFUL.

Tonight our friend Humphrey the Cat is going to be spending some time with me and the Alvin.

Also a few hours tomorrow night.

It will be interesting to see how spending the evening together goes.

Now both are used to seeing each other.

Both are used to cats and dogs and dogs and cats.

They were together the other night and so growling or hissing happening.

I will be careful watching them.

Also have to ensure that Humphrey does not scratch anything with this claws.

Will have to semi prepare things and perhaps bring one of his smaller scratching posts over to my house.

I am excited to see them interact.

Perhaps they will just say hello and then go there own ways?

Who knows.

Time will tell.

Earlier I saw some cars and a truck drive by so people are out driving.

Our temperatures are to reach +3 later today.

The joys of winter.

I should write a book on the JOYS OF WINTER IN CANADA.

Certainly could fill a book with our Canadian Winters.

The GOOD, The BAD and The UGLY?

What do you think?

Well I am thinking of our drive to work this morning and hoping that the City has been out sanding/salting whatever they put on the ice.

It won’t help 100% but some traction is better than nothing.

If you are reading this and living in Edmonton area – please be careful.

Have an awesome Wednesday.

Special Hello to:  EVERYONE TODAY – YOU ARE ALL SO GREAT.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 15th day of December, 2017.

Wow, guess what happened overnight and earlier this morning?

Clear stuff coming down.

Yes, it was raining in the middle of December, 2017.

Kind of scary ….

Sure hope that it does not get colder over the course of the day or the STREETS, SIDEWALKS and ROADS will be ICY.

Be careful if you live in the Edmonton area.

For some reason the morning has evaporated on me and I am running late.

Up on time, not sure what happened.

Last night right after work my neighbour came over and I got a hair cut.

Makes me feel good.

She is quick and GOOD.

Just about the 15 minute mark and even styled.

Amazing.

Then about 1/2 hour later we had coming.

Our neighbour from down the street ….

We laughed and had a great visit.

So a good Thursday night.

Unfortunately we missed our walk so will go tonight for sure.

Well time to go.

Have an awesome Friday.

Take care.

Special Hello to: You ….. it is all about you, today.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 21st day of January, 2017.

It is a gloomy day out there as the air and sky is covered in fog.

Yes, I can only see my garage and one row of houses behind us.

So I can only imagine the highways and in the country.

I guess the temperature must have changed over night.

I am so glad for the weekend.

Alvin has an appointment at noon to have his nails trimmed which he really needs now.

It has been about six weeks since his last trim.

He is impatiently waiting as I want to write this and then have a shower before going downstairs to start our day even though we were up at 5:00 a.m. for his breakfast and bathroom break.

Quietness fills the air and I am grateful for the stillness.

I wish that everyone could/would have a peaceful, quiet, happy, relaxing weekend.

With time for a walk.

Well better get this show on the road ….shower calling ….. laundry definitely calling and soon it will be time to leave for the vet.

Time always seems to go at lightning speed on the weekend.

Have a safe, warm, happy, relaxing weekend everyone.

Special Hello to: YOU ….. remember to be kind to yourself….you matter.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Afternoon and Welcome to Saturday the 14th day of December, 2013.

Just over a week now until the big day …. how did that happen?

Seems like only yesterday it was Halloween.

Had to sleep in this morning as I worked both jobs yesterday, and till midnight at the store as the mall had their MIDNIGHT MADNESS.

I can just barely see some sunlight peering through the blue clouds.

Oh, how I wish that the sun would shine.

Please I hope and pray that moisture stays away for awhile.

I shovelled this morning before my daughter brought Mr. Alvin home …. at the entrance to the garage …. I shovelled Thursday night ….

There is no room to put any more snow.

I am now throwing it between our garages ….

The deck looks like someone threw a snow bomb back there.

The roof tops ….. I hope it melts some before we get more.

But alas there is more snow in the forecast.

But a girl can hope …. and pray …. and then hope again and then pray and WISH.

My sister had a Friday the 13th story, that I just read and I would love to share with you.

My sister and (her son) my nephew were supposed to be coming to Alberta to visit one of my brothers.

She was all ready to go …showered …. makeup done ….. just going to put a couple of things in a bag, and go downstairs to feed the kitties when she heard a SSHHHH ….

Running downstairs to the bathroom she saw that the pipe from the toilet had sprang loose, and water was spraying everywhere.

Spraying her in her face and soaking her from head to toe.

Just like in the movies.

Panicking she called my nephew and no answer.

So she called her boyfriend and no answer, then she called his work number and he rushed over and turned off the water.

She was able to get in touch with her son and found out he had during the night  come down with the flu, and not the kind that you can travel with …. was unable to come to help.

His wife came in with their shop vac so at least they could mop up most of the excess water.

My sister was able to get hold of a plumber recommended by my nephew and he came out within a couple of hours.

She also phoned our brother, and he said the roads were terrible and it was still snowing.

These are her exact words and they are perfect:

My take on all of this …. We weren’t supposed to go yesterday!!!!!  Something not only stopped one of us, BUT BOTH OF US RIGHT IN OUR TRACKS.  Now that’s a message from the universe if I’ve ever heard one.

So true.

See the Universe always tells you what to do or at least points you in the right direction if only you listen.

Thank goodness it was a strong message.

You see the important part of this story is …… where my brother is living in Alberta the roads were terrible and it was storming.  No travel was recommended.  If my nephew had not come down out of the blue with this bad flu and the water pipe had not burst they would have been on the road.

Thank you Universe for keeping my family safe.

HUGE REMINDER TO LISTEN TO THAT INNER VOICE ….. THE UNIVERSE AND SOMETIMES IT IS AN OBVIOUS PIPE BURSTING OR STOMACH FLU THAT STOPS YOU RIGHT IN YOUR TRACKS.

OKAY, now it is time to check on the laundry and then take Mr. Alvin for a much deserved walk.

Special Hello and THANK YOU to: THE UNIVERSE.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the Day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday, the 19th day of March, 2013.

As we approach the official day of spring we are all taking a collective deep breath and hoping that Mother Nature is kind.

We have snow banks on our street that are over my head by several feet.

It is no longer an easy task to shovel the snow from our walks.

The main streets have been cleaned so going to and from work has been relatively easy but in the “hood” …. it is a different story.

Yesterday someone mentioned that by the beginning of April we are to have in the plus double digits.  WOW.

I so love spring.

The sights, the sounds and the smells.

The last bunny I saw was still white and no wonder with all this snow.

Despite everything we are collectively doing to this planet the animals still get it right.

You see during most of January we had mild temperatures, and in February when it was melting the bunnies remained pure white …. no hints of brown.

They know.

So once I see the bunnies starting to turn brown I know that spring is on it’s way.

I love the sound of the birds ….. like robins and long to see a hummingbird.

I love dragonflies and ladybugs…. ooh, I gotta go.

My ride will be here soon.

Thank you to all those people who are reading my blog ….. I am eternally grateful.

I hope that everyone has a great day.

Special Hello to:  YOU and YOU …..

Always, Carol and Alvin
