Living … One day at a time.

Hello, Morning….

The sky has cleared and there is a beautiful sunrise.

The horizon from outside my office window shows a warm palette of orange and pinks and then blue upward filling the morning sky.

We had FROST last night / this morning.

The grass is crisp, the rooftops are covered in a white covering.

Surprisingly enough the leaves remain on the trees.

A wind might take them away.

Time will tell.

Alvin and I enjoyed our walk last night.

It was quiet with just the two of us but great all the same.

After our walk Humphrey joined us for the evening.

I always get such joy out of watching the dynamics between Alvin and Humphrey.

Watching Humphrey sit in Alvin’s “favourite” chair and Alvin being okay on the sofa beside me.

But then when Humphrey leaves said chair, well you guessed it, the boy was right up there in his fav chair.

Truly they are like us, animals in some aspects.

I would said the boys are like children but that is not exactly true as we all can act like that from time to time.

Well I am home at the home as I have a medical appointment.

The check up.

Almost time to go and have a shower so that I am on time for my appointment.

There certainly will be the regular lab tests.

I am prepared to do it all today.

I decided better to FAST this morning.

So no breakfast – which as I told the receptionist from the Doctor office when I returned their call last night ….

Better to fast …. just in case.

Besides it is not the food that I miss it is the COFFEE.

That has to wait.

Could be a long day.

At least I can drink water.

Keep hydrated.

Happy Tuesday.

October 1st today.

Can you believe it?

Time flies.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 29th day of December, 2018.

WOW, just three days remaining in December including today.

It remains dark as we were up slightly earlier than most of the last few days.

We are hosting the girls coffee party/visit this morning at 10:00 a.m.

Only one of the two gals is able to make it but that is okay.

Next time.

I am also planning to give Mr. Alvin a bath this afternoon.

Forecast is for plus 2 so figured after our walk – a nice warm bath would hit the spot.

What are you thinking about this morning?

We were up the first time about 6:00 and then 7:30 and then 8:00 a.m.

Each time I laid back down I started to dream.

My mind has been running amok landing on the strangest of topics.

Where do we get these thoughts from?

At one point I was choosing a couple of purses and something else that I do not remember from some items that were going to be tossed.

The thing is all these items were brand new.

Strange.

My Mom was in the dream and the items that were being tossed were hers or at least she was in charge of the items.

I don’t remember anything else.

Too bad.

Just the purses and my Mom.

Outside my window – still dark.

The sky is white, the rooftops are white and the ground is white.

Hopefully the sun will shine again today.

It seems quite eerie almost as if we were placed in a large white bowl.

Does not appear that we have sky.

Very odd.

Alvin is laying on his blue blanket beside me.

Oh, the comfort of routine.

I would say that is the case for most of us.

We feel good when we are in our routine.

No matter what that routine is ….

It is the unknown that causes us anxiety.

For the most part.

Well time for a nice warm shower.

Wake me up before our company arrives.

My friend will be bringing her daughter.

So three girls and Mr. Alvin.

A nice group.

I hope that you have a great day.

Maybe we should all stretch a bit beyond our comfort zone.

Not always easy but we should try.

Special Hello to: all those folks who take the time to read my blog.  Thank you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 14th day of October, 2018

Darkness filled the air earlier this morning when we first arose.

Alvin always the early bird.

When we arose to start the day the sun shone brightly through light cloud cover.

The frost was hard as the grass crunched under my feet and appeared black to the naked eye.

The solar lights that are standing in a flower pot have a thick coating of frost upon them.

The Snapdragons are blooming remaining alive despite a coat of frost.

All things are covered with a covering of frost this morning.

With the sun shining the frost will melt.

The grass will return to green.

The Snapdragons will perk up with the heat of the sun.

The solar lights will shine in the sunlight

The frost will disappear from the rooftops and car windows.

Oh Sunday morning.

Time to get dressed and start the day.

Thank you Mother Nature for your beauty and charm.

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to: my sister on this day.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 18th day of September, 2018.

No moisture overnight.

Sidewalks are dry.

Alvin is laying on his blue blanket and sound asleep.

He can sleep anywhere, so cute.

I sure love that guy.

Happy Birthday to “G” …… he came into our lives almost ten year ago.

Alvin and I wish you the best birthday.

Have an awesome day and take some time off work.

Can someone reading this post please pass this message to him.

You know who you are.

Smiling….. thank you.

Last night I put away the last of the furniture from the deck.

Actually I have a river rock top bistro table and two chairs remaining.

I will leave them out for now.

The bistro table is heavy so might need a hand putting it into the garage.

The flowers are hanging in their inside of the garage although we have not had much sunshine as of late.

Perhaps it is time to just dig them up …. they are still so pretty.

I feel that they are cold in the garage …. my poor little flowers.

Still have to do something with the lavender as it smells too good to waste.

Keeps me busy.

Oh, I have lots of snapdragon seeds for next year.

Last night we walked with our friend “P.”

We did the walk in just over 45 minutes.

About halfway into it or so …. Alvin wanted to turn around …. but we urged him to continue.

He did …. we did.

With the snow and rain on the weekend we did not walk Saturday or Sunday.

Always good to get exercise whenever you can.

Especially when you like “treats” and both Alvin and I like the treats.

I will say that his treats are more healthy than mine

We noticed on our walk last night that the gulls, pigeons, magpies and crows are all starting to hang out on the rooftops.

I bet near the chimneys for warmth.

Well here we go for Tuesday.

Another Tuesday.

I hope that you have an awesome Tuesday.

Special Hello to: my sister ….

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 27th day of March, 2018.

Well Mother Nature has decided that we needed more snow.

She is not ready to give up on winter just yet.

We have a light blanket covering the ground, decks, rooftops …. everything.

It would appear to have stopped.

Today I am taking a vacation day to take Mr. Alvin to see his Doctor for the final treatment for the left ear and follow-up on his right ear.

Hopefully he gets a good report.

He has been shaking his head and scratching some.

ARGH,  my poor boy.

I did keep the outer portion of his ear nice and clean.

I was so lucky to get a ride home last night from my friend and we discussed the possibility of car pooling.

We have a IMPARK lot right beside the building where I work and it is only a few blocks from where she works.

So we could park by my office and she would walk to her office.

Parking is so costly downtown.

We will only do it if it does not cost either one of us more than what we are currently spending.

It would be so nice to get home earlier and have an extra 40 minutes or so with Mr. Alvin.

Guess what?

Master Teddy is coming for a sleepover on the weekend.

He arrives Saturday morning and goes home on Sunday.

We are so excited.

First time overnight.

I am certain he will be okay.

He is comfortable with us so he will be okay.

Hard to believe Easter weekend is just a few days away.

Wow, seems so funny to be at home on a Tuesday.

Nice, though.

Well better get this show on the road.

Late breakfast and coffee.

Then get us ready to leave for Alvin’s appointment.

Have an awesome Tuesday.

Special Hello to: back at you, my sister.  SKYPE this weekend?

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 5th day of February, 2017.

The sky is white.

Rooftops are white.

Ground is white.

No sign of the sun.

Appears to be cold.

This is Sunday morning.

The house feels full once again with the arrival of Mr. Alvin back home.

I am grateful to his sister, my daughter and his brother-in-law, my son-in-law for taking such great wonderful care of my boy for the time away from home.

We sometimes feel like an old married couple.

We miss each other when we are apart but when once again together we fall into the old routine quickly.

He barks and I said say “no barking.”

Does he listen “no.”

Does he get his own way “yes.”

When he is away – I do not sleep well.

But when he is home – he lays next to me, and I sleep.

We are happy together.

Just this way.

I had a wonderful visit with my daughter and it is never long enough.

Usually when she comes over – I have errands to run so she lends me their car.

This shortens our time together.

I am grateful for every moment with my daughter.

She is the very best “being” I know.

The past couple of weekends I have been making necklaces like crazy.

Just feeling creative.

I have a big bowl of beads nearby and just create.

Last night I made two more.

Well the weekend is winding down.

Still some things to do around the house to prepare for the week.

I am happy, feeling very blessed to have this life ….

Happy Sunday Everyone ….

Special Hello to: YOU

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to the 20th day of March, 2016.

Happy Spring Everyone !!

Today is the first day of spring ….. it is now official.

My spring bulbs will start to grow over this next while.

I look forward to seeing the flowers as I do not remember what I planted.

They were a gift from a friend.

The forecast for today is sunny and about 7 degrees celsius which is a lovely day.

The weekend thus far has been beautiful.

Frost lightly covers the windshields of cars and rooftops.

Looks so pretty with the early morning light.

Most of the snow from our front lawn has melted.

We no longer have six inches of ice built up on our front sidewalk.

It is always a challenge over the winter months and spring to keep it clear as it is a low spot and drains from our backyard and from the neighbours.

The storm drain is several feet away.

Mr. Alvin continues to heal and recover from his dental surgery/cleaning.

Always happy news …..

I guess time to get going ….. I hope that you have an awesome first day of SPRING.

We are definitely going for a long walk in the early afternoon hours.

To celebrate this day.

Take care.

We miss and mourn our losses and think of them always in happy times.

Special Hello to: family and friends ……

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 7th day of May, 2015.

WOW, here we are seven days into May with about a foot of snow on the deck.

The rooftops are covered with snow.

The lawns are covered with snow.

The tiny beautiful leaves that were coming out on the trees are covered with snow.

Every nook and crevice is covered.

WIth the exception (there is always one of them) ….. sidewalks that were shovelled and the streets.

They are forecasting +9 today so the snow will melt.

The sky is cool …..

The sky to the east is light as the sun begins to makes it appearance.

The sky to the west looks like is does in winter.

Spring or winter …..

We are confused.

Oh well within a couple of days the snow will be a distant memory.

Well looks like I am running a bit late.

Time for Miss Aussie to have her breakfast.

I hope that wherever you are the weather is good and you are ready for this day.

May it be filled with love and laughter.

Lots of laughter.

Special Hello to: my fellow Albertans ….. hope you have great weather today.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 17th day of March, 2015.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone.

My family and friends all over the world, Happy St. Pat’s Day.

We are having a potluck lunch at work today and we can also wear sports jerseys and anything green.

Just so happens that I have a Saskatchewan Roughrider (football) jersey which is both.

YAY, me….

Also to top off the celebration my friend “G” is coming over coffee after her “bootcamp” (exercise class).

I am so excited.

I have not seen her in what feels like forever.

YAY …. I am so lucky and feeling really blessed right now.

If you remember I mentioned picking up what they call “pet steps” so that when Alvin and the puppies want to get onto the bed they don’t have to jump so high.

Well Mr. Alvin will have nothing of it.

So I shall leave the steps by the bed and see if perhaps over the course of a few days he will gradually get used to them.

Stubborn boy that one.

Well life is good …. great, in fact.

I hope that it is in your home as well.

Spread the kindness.

Spread the joy.

Spread the laughter.

Always laugh …. giggle ….. feel it right down to the bottom of your belly.

Have a great green day.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

Special Hello to: everyone … I would like to yell from the rooftops “HELLO”

Always, Carol and Alvin
