Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 8th day of July, 2018.

There is a nice cool breeze coming in through the office window as I type these words.

The sky is overcast with rain clouds.

Yesterday Master Teddy spent the day with us.

We had a quiet day just me and the pups.

Enjoying the thunderstorms off and on all day long.

One minute there was thunder and lightning and downpours.

The next minute the sun was shining and it was lovely.

We enjoyed every minute of it.

My flowers are doing well.

Even with the constant pounding of the rain.

Just some photos from our day.

Pups and flowers.

A great combination.

Happy Saturday it was.

Now after having a quiet, relaxing day it is time to get some work done.

Finish laundry, bake some cranberry oatmeals muffins with perhaps some raspberries, some house cleaning, update my financial records, have a shower, go for a walk.

That kind of thing.

STUFF that needs to be done.

The house is quiet this morning with only me and Mr. Alvin.

The boys together can sometimes be noisy.

Alvin actually played with one of his toys yesterday.

The boys played tug-of-war for about 4 seconds but it was cute.

Then each one ran after the toy when I threw it across the room.

They are good for the soul, those boys.

Made me smile and once or twice gave me a moment of “argh.”

Mostly made me smile.

You might notice that Master Teddy has a bandage on one of his front paws.

His Momma told me that after his bath on Friday he ran around like a house on fire, like he usually does (as does Mr. Alvin) and somehow managed to tear his “dew claw.”

So his Momma took him to the Vet where they put on some antiseptic and clipped it off so that it would not catch on anything.

Then bandaged so that it would heal (get hard).

His Mom brought the roll of bandage over – just in case it got wet.

The bandage is the coolest thing ever.

It is gauze but is sticky so it does not require tape or pins.

Not really sticky as in glue but it stays in place.

Poor little guy.

That must have hurt.

Well I had better get this show on the road, so to speak.

Have an awesome day.

I hope that you are able to spend some time relaxing whether with someone or one your own.

Enjoy this day.

Special Hello to:  my daughter and sister, two of my favourite women on the planet.  Kind and good and supportive.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 28th day of January, 2018.

Wow, the sky is filled with BRIGHT beautiful SUNLIGHT.

YAY.

It is cold out but not minus 30 and not snowing.

Life is good.

Life is great.

My daughter called earlier and should be here shortly…

Shortly is now.

When I looked out the office window to hear some noise I saw that my neighbour was going into her garage so I ran to my room and my daughter just arrived.

She brought both puppies.

The last couple of times it was only the little one, Milo as he travels better than his big sister Aspen.

I grabbed my coat and put on my boots to go and help bring in the pups.

My daughter said that Aspen went out and jumped into the car (in the garage).

So that was a sign that she wanted to come along to see Grandma and Alvin.

Well I must go and visit with my family.

I hope that your Sunday is going as great as mine.

Special Hello to: you ……

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Evening and it is still Sunday the 11th day of December, 2016.

13 sleeps til Christmas Eve…

It remains cold here in Edmonton and I am grateful that Alvin and I are toasty warm in our home.

The Christmas Event went well yesterday.

We had about ten people stop by and we shared some laughter, information, and good treats.

A most enjoyable afternoon followed by a small dinner party at 7:00 with two of my friends.

We continued with good food and laughter.

So all in all I had a pretty great weekend.

Alvin came home early this afternoon and I am happy he is back.

Nice for him to spend time with his sister, brother-in-law and baby Milo but good for him to be home.

I did miss his crazy self.

Was trying to get hold of my sister on SKYPE ….. something must have come up as she is usually pretty punctual.

I spent most of the day putting my house back in order after “temporarily hiding” some things just so that I had lots of room.

Finished laundry except for the load of towels in the dryer (must remember to go and get them – should be dry by now).

Well I had better go and check SKYPE again and see if she is now there.

Have a great evening.

I will be back in the morning ….

Special Hello to: My Friends and Family.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 17th day of September, 2015.

Another glorious morning ….. no rain overnight or frost.

So we are good on all fronts.

I was going to put all my flower pots into the garage just in case of frost and then saw that it was to be 5 degrees overnight so decided to take a chance.

This has been a long season for them to this point.

Pretty much all of my flowers and the ones in the neighbourhood are still blooming like crazy.

Especially with the rain over the past few days.

Now sunshine and we will be good for another few days or maybe even weeks.

This morning me Alvin decided that he wanted to be a “LAP DOG” …

Usually when I am writing in my gratitude journal he is laying on the sofa in the spot that I was on just a few minutes prior.

We still find time for a few minutes on the sofa before getting up to stay.

Anyway …. he was standing by the chair beside mine and looking up ….

I asked him “would you like up?”

He backs away ….

So I lean over and ask him once again.

Finally he walks over to me so that I can pick him up.

OO methinks that Mr. Alvin needs to cut back on the treats or more walks … yikes.

Footnote to his Momma …. you both need to start yoga ….. “downward dog” …… our cores need help.

As soon as I have him in my lap I place my legs on the other chair so that he has room to move.

With one arm around me Alvin the other one grabs the pen and begins to write.

Meanwhile Mr. Alvin does his “little 360” on my lap so cute.

He then ends up facing the other way with his head facing outward resting on my arm.

I always say to me Alvin and it is my favourite thing to say “cuteness alert” …..

He is pretty cute.

Mr. Alvin goes wherever I go.

He is attached to my hip.

I only hope that he is not too lonely when I am at work.

Hopefully he sleeps and keeps entertained with all that goes on in the neighbourhood during the day.

Anyway …. one more day this week … Friday…. once I start a day …..I am up so it doesn’t count.

I am taking different scheduled buses to find the best one for me to take.

Yesterday the bus got me to work at 7:25 and I start at 8:00 ….

Today I am hoping it works out to be at work by 7:40-45.

I wish you all the best day.

Also today marks the Happy Birthday of my Steeped Tea Leader “C” …. Happy Birthday.

She is an awesome person and I am glad to know her.

Special Hello to: my Steeped Tea Leader “C” …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 24th day of June, 2015.

It is a gorgeous morning here in Edmonton ….. the sun is shining ….. bit of a breeze ….. birds are singing.

We had a shower last night along with lightning and thunder…..

Well, it is pretty much perfect.

Alvin is laying outside the office on the rug with his front paws crossed over and his back ones (that is a bit of surprise) and from time to time he opens his eyes and stares at me.

He is quite the character.

Definitely an early bird.

4:30 a.m. …… seems to be his time to get up.

He wakes up around 4:00 – 4:10 or so and then I manage to get him to settle back down until 4:30.

Then 4:30 strikes ……

Alvin always does the “Ask Nice” …. by placing his paw on me …. how can you refuse someone with manners?

I am so grateful that our sofa is comfortable as sometimes I get some of my best rest there.

Oh well, that is my boy ….

Set in his ways.

That is middle age for you.

Four sleeps until my daughter and I go to see our nephew who was in the coma and is now in a brain-injury rehab hospital.

They have the best facility and he is making great progress.

My sister, her boyfriend and my youngest brother are going to meet us there.

She is coming from Regina and my brother lives in Calgary.

My sister’s fella has a son and family in Calgary.

Family all over the place.

It will be great to see everyone on Sunday.

Well here it is almost time to go and catch the bus …..

Seems like I just walked in the door after work.

One other thing I wanted to share ….. this morning in my bathroom which faces north ….. the blind is not quite down and there is about a space of one inch where the sun is coming in …… the sun ray glistens as it goes across the room as if it were a runway of diamonds.  I do not think that I have noticed this before now.  It is absolutely breathtaking.  Tiny diamonds floating across the room.  YAY …… would that be nice or what.  Likely dust particles or something.  Too scientific for my brain at 6:25 a.m.

Okay time to run.

I hope that you have an amazing day …… the a/c is set for Mr. Alvin so that he remains comfortable.

Special Hello to: my sister and brother so excited to see you guys …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 19th day of April, 2015.

The sun is up and shining.

The wind is still blowing.

It is quiet in the house except for the tapping as I hit each key to form these words.

I could even hear Alvin’s little feet as they softly walked across the hallway rug.

We both feel it …. the stillness…..

Do you or have you ever had time completely and utterly by yourself?

In a room or in a house?

No fans, no furnace blowing warm air into each room, no dogs barking or babies crying?

No laughter, no voices.

Just the sound of your heart beating.

I think it is a good thing once in awhile.

Time to reflect and think.

To get yourself in order.

I have done a lot of thinking the past couple of days ……

It is good for the body and mind.

Good for your inner being.

I feel very relaxed and calm.

Alvin, I am not completely sure how he is feeling.

Lonely ….. we both are for sure.

But tomorrow will bring routine.

Back to work.

Back to the office.

Back to the drama …..

The drama that is life.

Well I hope that you are having a great Sunday.

Finding time to reflect on the past days and your life.

Waking those dreams within you.

As have I …….

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to: empty nesters …… it will be okay.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 29th day of October, 2014.

Wow another glorious fall / autumn day.

Only two more sleeps until Halloween.

Still haven’t decided what to wear ….. I will dress up for the office and then change before heading to the store.

Always fun …..  any ideas???

Last night I had an update on my nephew, and he seems to be making some progress although still not out of coma.

My daughter and I are going up to the hospital this evening after work.

When I write on my blog in the mornings it is with careful eyes watching me, “ALVIN’S, of course.”

He always makes certain that he can see me …. when I am at home seldom am I out of his sight.

Even as human beings we like to have our space from our loved ones.

It appears not to be the case with this puppy “dog.”

He is definitely a “Momma’s Boy” and at home he goes from room to room with me.

There is a bond between me and Alvin that is strong as iron ….. I do not remember nor do I wish to remember what life was like before he entered my life.

I am so grateful for being in great health, for having employment, to have my bills paid every month, to have lots of food in the house, to be surrounded by loving family and friends, for telephones ( the ones that are portable but do not fit into your pocket), for time and energy.

So on this day I wish you grace and purpose, joy, abundance and love.

Keep dreaming and bring your dreams one step closer to fruition.

Special Hello to: family and friends

Always, Carol and Alvin
