Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 28th day of October, 2017.

The wind is actually WARM this morning which is actually a bit unusual for almost the end of October.

Alvin and I are gearing up for our company.

We are puppy sitting “Master Teddy” today.

He really isn’t a puppy as I think he is about four years old but to Alvin and I, he is a baby.

We will have some play time in the back yard today for sure.

Today is an important day for another reason, it is the birthday of a long time dear friend of mine, “L.”

He is one of those people that is warm, kind and funny.

When I lived in Regina and he after they (his wife and children) moved to Saskatoon,  he would always come visit me.

Every time they were in Regina, he would make time to come and have coffee with me.

One of my dearest and best friends.

Happy Birthday Buddy …… Have a great day.

Well before the Teddy arrives – still have to have breakfast and put the coffee on.

Happy Saturday …..

Enjoy the day….

Special Hello to:  you and you and you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 4th day of March, 2016.

I had the most wonderful evening last night with my friends from Saskatoon.

They had brought with them another friend so we four had a great time.

Instead of eating on Bourbon Street in one of the many restaurants – we opted to eat in the food court.

My old stomping grounds – I hadn’t eaten there for almost one year.

In fact at my favourite “food kiosk” they remembered me by name.

One of the girls asked where had I been?

How sweet.

So many wonderful people.

We had an awesome visit.

They took me back to their rooms to show me as I had never been to the Fantasyland Hotel.

I will also share the story from their first night.

Apparently a woman in the room above them was in the hot tub (not your back yard type) relaxing and drinking.

Not a good combination.

Now the tubs are huge and I guess she was so relaxed that she fell asleep and the water kept running.

My friends heard a dripping and found water coming through their ceiling at the light (scary).

Called front desk right away.

Saved the woman’s life.

Now that is that for your first night in town.

We ended up playing a game – memory game with tiles and I will not get the spelling correct – MAHJON

It was fun.

We laughed and visited.

My friend “G” belongs to a clogging group back in Saskatoon and an instructor from Edmonton also dropped by.

Now this lady is so interesting.

She teaches all sorts of fitness and wellness classes.

We learned how to “TAP” last night.

I was so relaxed on my bus ride home.

When I left the mall – I walked right onto the bus as it was “waiting” for me.

Coming home to a house with no “Alvin” ….. was lonely but he is with my daughter and her family so he is well looked after ……. but I still miss him.

He comes home tomorrow morning.

It is almost time to get this show on the road.

I am so grateful for my friends and for them introducing me to two new friends.

The circle expands.

Also when I got off the bus one of my friends that usually catches the bus in the morning with me was getting off the bus to come home, too.

She attends post secondary school … nice young lady.

Turns out she lives a few door down the street from me and when we go for our nightly walks we go by her house.

Small world.

Time to go.

Have an awesome day.

Special Hello to: new friends.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 3rd day of March, 2016.

Tonight after work I am meeting some long time friends from Saskatoon.

I worked with “L” and we have known each other for over thirty-five years.

When they moved to Saskatoon and I lived in Regina ….. we did not see each other very often.

But when they came to visit family near Regina he would always make sure that he stopped by for a coffee and visit.

So I was very excited when he called to say they were coming to Edmonton and would be staying at the Fantasyland Hotel at West Edmonton Mall.

I can just step off the bus after work at the mall and we can have supper together.

My daughter is going to pick up Alvin and he will be going for a sleepover to their house.

She volunteered for them to do the hair cut this time …. which is great for me.

It is a big job for one person especially since he does not like getting his paws trimmed.

I will miss the little guy but will be good for him to take a short road trip and see the rest of the family.

My daughter (such a wonderful girl) … said she would bring him home in time for his appointment Saturday morning and we can have coffee before we go.

Am I not the luckiest woman on the planet.

Well here we go again almost time to leave for work.

How does that happen, really?

Each second just evaporates into the next.

I hope that you have a fantastic day.

Perhaps you will see old friends or just go visit a new one.

Take some time today and reach out to a friend or family member.

Special Hello to:   my daughter and son-in-law, Elton & Penny – THANK YOU.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 30th and last day of September, 2014.

I am sad that September is over but happy that October lies ahead.

Not too sad, though.

October is 31 days closer to putting up my Christmas tree and decorating both inside and outside of the house.

This year I have my daughter right close and we can share this experience even more so than other years.

Soon we shall be putting up Halloween decorations, that is my other favourite time of year.

My daughter and son-in-law have some cool Halloween decorations and she said we can use them this year at my house.

How cool.

Anyway, it is always good to have something to look forward to, plan about and dream for …….

I love this time of year ……

So it is always extra special.

Thoughts are just ones of excitement for these months ahead.

The smells, colours and music ….. nothing better other than the feelings that surround the holidays.

Well time to go to work.

I will be thinking of decorating for both Halloween and Christmas …..

Mmmm, what to do…..

So much.

Special Hello to: my cousin “J” in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan ……

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 23rd day of October, 2013.

Another great day to be alive.

Good news our Miss Penny is feeling better, and we hope to have good news about her tests soon.

Last night I raked our front lawn.

Always amazing how many leaves can fall off one tree, and also ones blown from the neighbour’s yard as we have no breaks between our lawns.

Sure were beautiful colours.

The richness of the burgundy, the brilliance of the gold and the fun of the orange.

This is part of the reason why I love this time of year.

At the same time, I have a single red rose blooming in my back “rock” garden.

Soon we will be continuing onto the next season.

This also holds a specialness in my heart.

I love Christmas.

Not too long and I will be putting up my Christmas Tree.

OH yeah…

Take one Saturday, my wonderful daughter and a couple cups of cocoa, a few decorations or so, and you end up with a Christmas tree all done up in the middle of my living room.

So lots to look forward to in the near future.

Halloween just around the corner.

Life continues to be amazing.

Special Hello to: my friends Les and Gwen who travelled to Edmonton and tried to see me but alas I missed them.  I am sad that I missed seeing them.  Thank you friends for thinking of me.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Happy Wednesday May 2nd, 2012 ….. it is so wonderful to have light outside before leaving for work in the morning.

I so enjoy this time of day (once I get over the initial shock of getting out of bed).  LOL

I have learned to be a morning person because I love so much about this time of day.

In the summer, the birds are singing, the colours of the sun as it begins to rise in the morning sky …..

The smell of the early morning ….. all of the sights and sounds that you only have at this time of day.

The dew on the grass as it sparkles in the morning sunshine.

I also wanted to mention that if you have access to SKYPE, please use it…. it is such a wonderful tool to connect people.

It is the next best thing to being there.

Last night I SKYPED with my cousin Janice who lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

We talked and laughed and laughed and talked …. about our current lives and about past family…

I love talking with her so much …. she is one of the best things from my childhood.

I have so many fond memories of growing up with my cousin, Janice and her family.

Thank you Janice for that lovely conversation …..  🙂

GO SKYPE… and have that conversation with your cousin, friends ….. all the people that you miss, and want to connect with …..

It is easy for the most part (I am by no means a computer junkie).

I hope that you are enjoying your Wednesday wherever you are on this wonderful Earth of ours.

Life is meant to be lived and share …..

Special Hello: to my cousin Janice and thank you so much for the lovely walk down memory lane and chat about the now.

Always, Carol and Alvin
